FAKE "Jewish Group Causing Massive Chillul Hashem by telling Trump: "You are not welcome in Pittsburgh"

So Called "Leaders" from a Pittsburgh "Jewish group" have released an open letter – signed by more than 16,000 people (most signers are non-Jews) – to President Trump saying he is unwelcome in the city unless he denounces white nationalism after 11 people were massacred inside a synagogue.

“For the past three years your words and your policies have emboldened a growing white nationalist movement,” wrote 11 members of the Pittsburgh affiliate of Bend the Arc, a national social justice group of progressive Jews, The Washington Post reported.

“You yourself called the murderer evil, but yesterday’s violence is the direct culmination of your influence,” they wrote in the letter, which was published Sunday.

“Our Jewish community is not the only group you have targeted. You have also deliberately undermined the safety of people of color, Muslims, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities,” the letter continued.

“Yesterday’s massacre is not the first act of terror you incited against a minority group in our country.”

The letter was signed by Jamie Forrest, Joshua Friedman, Jamie Harris, Tammy Hepps, Harry Hochheiser, Sasha King, Jonathan Mayo, Elinor S. Nathanson, Avigail S. Oren, Kate Rothstein and Yael Silk.

The suspect —46-year-old Robert Bowers—was a known anti-Semite who had written numerous anti-Jewish screeds online.

Trump has announced he would be making a visit to Pittsburgh to meet with the families of the 11 victims of the shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue.

“My immediate reaction was he is not welcome here,” Friedman, who does not attend services at Tree of Life, told The Washington Post. “I immediately wrote to the rest of our steering committee that he is not welcome, we have to make that clear.”

Four bolded lines stand out from the rest of the letter’s 338 words.

“President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you fully denounce white nationalism.”

“President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you stop targeting and endangering all minorities.”

“President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you cease your assault on immigrants and refugees.”

“President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you commit yourself to compassionate, democratic policies that recognize the dignity of all of us.”

Friedman read the letter aloud in front of the White House during a Sunday afternoon vigil organized by Bend the Arc, which was founded in 2012 as an advocacy organization.

“People are on board,” Friedman said, describing the experience of hearing the crowd read the sentences with him as “powerful” and “energizing.”

“People are hearing the words. People understand why we need do this,” he said.

“We feel like there have been multiple communities under attack in the United States from the vitriol that the president has been spreading,” Friedman added. “It was the Jewish community’s turn. Blowback from his words came and cost people’s lives, and we said enough is enough.”

Trump’s critics have alleged that his incendiary language has stirred the current climate of violence.
