98-year-old Rosh Yeshiva R' Gershon Edelstein diagnosed with COVID after receiving 4th vaccine dose.

Rabbi Gershon Edelstein, one of the leaders of Israel's haredi community, has been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Rabbi Edelstein, who is 98 years old, received a fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine over the weekend, people close to him said. This morning, he felt unwell and received a test for the coronavirus, which came back with a positive result.

Rabbi Edlerstein is the Rosh Yeshiva of the Ponevezh Yeshiva and the spiritual leader of the Degel HaTorah party.

Last night, the Health Ministry reported that 31,000 people had tested positive for the coronavirus. There was also an increase in the number of patients in serious condition.

Dr. Sharon Alroy Preis, the head of public health services at the Health Ministry, said last night that the government is considering shortening the quarantine period for people suspected of contracting the coronavirus, but no decision has been made yet.

He should have a speedy Refuoh Shleimah.

If you don't do social distancing, beware of the consequences.

If you look at the other websites rabbi edelstein has been careful to social distance, wear a mask, AND as stated here had just received his fourth dose of the vaccine. Can't do more hishtudlus than that. We still need to do our hishtudlus but if Hashem wants us to get something it's gonna happen.

...but if Hashem wants us to get something it’s gonna happen...

So Hashem had a passion to kill his saintly servant Rabbi Gershon Edelstein, a Chareidi Gadol. Seems to me his COVID infection is an indication that he’s not such a great Gadol. I wonder what his great sin might have been to have The Creater Of The Universe attempt to kill him?

1. I don't know about you but I personally cannot and will not judge who is a real tzadik. I'll leave that to Hashem.2.ein tzadik baaretz asher yaaseh tov vlo yechta. Therefore we all have aveiros. Even gedolim. Only Hashem is perfect. That doesn't mean that we should not seek eitzos of gedolim. We still go to doctors even though they might make a mistake. Usually they will know better what Hashem wants because they were Moser nefesh to learn his will in the Torah (of course we need siyata dishmaya to make sure we go to the correct people who are actually gedolim).3. you see bad things happen to good people all the time. That is the age old question.

ספר שרשי השמות

written by

רבי משה זכותא זיע”א
(1625-1697)

a בעל קבלה

says (page 649) that during a מגפה one should avoid coming into contact with people who do not themselves seperate from other people.

He goes on to say that he should stay in his house for 40 days. Quarantine is a French word that means “about forty”.
