Seems like it was either arranged by or heavily participated in by a group who stand for every aberration that goes against the Torah. While they will still get schar for feeling bad for yenem, it's preferable not to hear them making a public splash.
Jersey City, even minus the modern orthodox OU affiliated shul, is only 50% Satmar in the Chassidishe component. And as surviving gunshot victim Duvid Lax points out, it was not even an attack on Jews per se, it was "an attack on the American public", because the killers also took down a Hispanic man, an Irish-American police officer, and a few days earlier a taxi driver of non-Jewish German descent.
