Watch Thieves Stealing From Cars In Monsey

Once again, burglars broke into multiple vehicle over Shabbos in the Monsey area of Rockland County. Rockland Chaieirm Coordinator Yossi Margareten said  that 18 vehicles were broken into over Shabbos. 16 were in the Monsey (Ramapo) area, and two were in Spring Valley.

The burglars were captured on video at around 5:50AM, Shabbos morning.

 The State Department said Thursday that portions of 275 emails released on New Year’s Eve from Hillary Clinton’s time as secretary of state have been newly classified, bringing 2015 to a close for the Democratic presidential front-runner.

Clinton has said she didn’t send or receive information that was classified at the time via her personal email account, which was run on a private server at her New York home. Republicans have repeatedly questioned whether her use of a private email system put sensitive information at risk.

In all, the State Department said 1,274 of Clinton’s emails have been retroactively classified since the department started reviewing them for public release.

In one of the emails released , Clinton expressed outrage at a Hasidic Jewish newspaper that airbrushed her and another woman out of a famous photograph of officials in the White House Situation Room watching the raid on Osama Bin Laden.

The original photo had shown Clinton seated at the table, her hand covering her mouth. Counterterrorism director Audrey Tomason had also been pictured, standing at the back of the room. Both were blacked out in the newspaper’s reproduction of the photograph.

“The Jerusalem Post reported today that a NY Hasidic paper Der Zeitung published the sit room photo w/o me (or Audrey T) photoshopped out perhaps because no woman should be in such a place of power or that I am dressed immodestly!!” Clinton wrote in an email with the subject line “Unbelievable.”

The email was sent May 8, 2011, to aides, including Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin, and to her daughter, Chelsea, under the alias Diane Reynolds.

NYPD Arrests Two Suspects In Vicious Assault On Ave M

The NYPD has arrested two suspects for viciously attacking and robbing a 60-year-old Jewish man in Midwood earlier this week.

It appears that both men who were seen in the surveillance video assaulting the man were taken into custody on Thursday evening.

As DIN reported earlier this week, On Monday, December 28, 2015 at 12:48AM, a 55 year-old male victim was walking in front of 809 Avenue M when two male suspects approached him from behind. One of the suspects punched the suspect on the head, knocked him down and continued to punch and kick the victim. Both suspects went through the victim’s pockets and removed his wallet containing credit cards before fleeing on Avenue M toward Ocean Parkway. The victim was treated and released at Maimonides Hospital for scratches and contusions to head, knees and hands.

Thanks to the diligent and persistent work of the NYPD, both men are in custody. Special thanks to the NYPD Patrol Boro Brooklyn South Chief Steven Powers, the Detective Bureau Chief Conry, Chief Eric Rodriguez and Lieutenant Ira (Yitzy) Jablonsky.

Yeshiva Student Attacked While Walking On Ave L And East 29 Street; Hikind Urges Community To Be On Alert

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) urged the community to be on high alert after learning about a second local attack in the past 24 hours. A 17-year-old Jewish male from Flatbush was listening to music while walking home from yeshiva around 6:30 p.m. Monday evening. The attack occurred off Avenue L and East 29th Street. The victim was approached and attacked by an African American described as 5-foot-8 and wearing a black hoodie. 

“I’m just in complete shock over the recent spate of violence and brutality,” said Assemblyman Hikind, who said the attack was reminiscent of the 2013 knockout games in Brooklyn. “It’s a shame that we have to worry about what street we’re walking down in such a safe neighborhood.”

“We, as a community, need to be aware and alert of our surroundings,” added Hikind, who visited the victim at his house Tuesday afternoon.

The boy was punched in the face once, knocking him to the ground and out onto the street. He was wearing earphones to listen to his music when the perpetrator approached him, lunging at the youth once he got within arm’s reach. The 17-year-old sustained bruising to the side of his face and is in stable condition.

Hikind reached out to the NYPD 70th Precinct, who responded to the call last night, to ensure all measures were being exhausted to locate and apprehend the perpetrator, as well as to suggest an increase in police patrols throughout the community. “I will do all I can to ensure the residents of this community that they can walk the streets safely,” Hikind said. “I’m confident that the NYPD 70th Precinct and the shomrim will work relentlessly until justice is served.”

NYPD Release More Video Footage Showing Suspects In Midwood Attack

The NYPD has released more footage showing Monday morning’s vicious beating that left a Midwood resident battered, bruised and with multiple stitches in his head, hoping that the public can help them apprehend the two suspects in connection with the assault and robbery.

As previously reported on VIN News, a 55 year old Orthodox Jewish man was beaten and robbed of his cell phone and wallet as he walked in front of 809 Avenue M just before 1 AM on Monday morning.

Additional surveillance video obtained by the NYPD shows the two suspects getting out of a dark colored car at 12:48 AM and walking down Avenue M.

The two men are described as light complexioned with thin builds. One of the men has dark hair and was wearing a light colored sweatshirt, dark pants and white sneakers with black trim. The second man was dressed in a black jacket and pants with side stripes and wearing black shoes or sneakers.  Both men can be seen putting their hoods on their heads as they walk down Avenue M.
