A beautiful and unexpected gift arrived today.

Ashley Jackson — daughter of the late Rev. Jesse Jackson — has converted to Judaism.

She wrote it herself, with grace and honesty, in the Washington Post. Her father, a Baptist minister with a complicated history with our people, blessed her choice. He saw her soul’s journey and said yes.

As a Black and Jewish woman she now claims what she calls a “twin inheritance.”

And we claim her.

Not as a political statement.
Not as a headline.
As family.

Every soul that finds its way home to the Jewish people is a quiet miracle. Every conversion is a reminder that belonging is not only blood — it is also choice, courage, and love.

We open our arms wide.
