Swedish Authorities Investigate Mohel for not using Anesthesia

Health Ministry officials in Sweden have launched a review into the actions of a rabbi and physician for circumcising Jewish infants without anesthesia.

Separately, the parliament in neighboring Denmark on Tuesday voted against a nonbinding draft motion calling on the government to ban the nonmedical circumcision of boys.

The review in Sweden of Rabbi Dr. Peter Borenstein followed articles in Svenska Dagbladet in which other doctors criticized him for not administering anesthesia. Borenstein also is a longtime mohel, the Hebrew word for one who performs ritual circumcisions.

Mohels typically do not use anesthetic. Many, including Borenstein, offer the babies a few drops of a sugar-rich liquid as a distraction. The daily called this “sugarwater painkiller.”

The Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate said it deems Borenstein’s performance “inadequate” and has demanded an explanation by May 28, the news site Lakartidningen on Wednesday reported.

In Sweden, the law allows nonmedical circumcision of boys but requires the presence of licensed medical personnel. Therefore, mohels in Sweden tend to be physicians as well.

Svenska Dagbladet implied that Borenstein was in violation of medical procedures and ethics, which he and the Council of Swedish Jewish Communities have denied.

Circumcision is controversial in Scandinavia, where child welfare activists say it’s a form of abuse. Far-right activists also oppose the practice as a foreign import.

In Denmark, the motion calling for a ban was defeated in a 62-32 vote. Anti-circumcision activists had gathered more than the necessary 50,000 signatures on a 2018 petition needed to submit the measure for a parliamentary vote.

Gafni Orthodox party leader backs official state inquiry into Meron disaster

The head of the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party on Wednesday threw his backing behind the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the deadly crush at a religious festival last month that killed 45 people, including many children.

No arrests have been made since the April 30 tragedy, the deadliest civilian disaster in Israel’s history, which is being investigated by the Israel Police.

UTJ MK Moshe Gafni chairs the Knesset Finance Committee, which held a session Tuesday on the disaster during Lag B’Omer celebrations at Mount Meron in northern Israel. In a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said the parliamentary committee agreed the “correct way” to proceed is to form an official commission of inquiry, which would be led by a Supreme Court justice.

Gafni also said he would chair further committee meetings on the matter “so we can offer solutions for the future so a case like this will not happen again.”

The last living WWII-era German Nazis have shockingly few regrets

Klaus Kleinau is one of the surviving remorseful members of the Waffen-SS.

The last remaining World War II Nazis are living comfortably at home in Germany, leading normal lives and, in some instances, are still proud of their participation in one of world history’s biggest atrocities.

In the chilling new documentary “Final Account,” out Friday, British director Luke Holland, whose grandparents were killed in the Holocaust, interviewed several former Nazis about their memories of the murderous Third Reich. It took him 10 years to track his elderly subjects down and capture them on film. And Holland himself died in June shortly after completing his movie.

Deemed functionaries rather than war criminals by the German government, these former medics, SS officers and concentration camp guards were able to return to their communities after World War II as if nothing had happened.

For many of them, “nothing” is the operative word today.

“The majority of those under Naziism said after the war, again and again, firstly ‘I didn’t know,’ secondly ‘I didn’t take part,’ and thirdly, ‘If I had known, I would have acted differently,’ ” Klaus Kleinau, a remorseful member of the Waffen-SS, the military branch of the SS, said in the doc.

Kleinau believes this to be a widespread delusion. “Everybody tries to distance themselves from the massacres committed under Naziism, especially those of the final years. And that’s why so many said: ‘I wasn’t a Nazi.’ ”

The interviewees mostly began their participation with the Nazis when they joined the Jungvolk, a mandatory program for boys between the ages of 10 and 14. After that, they advanced to Hitler Youth or the female equivalent, the League of German Girls.

A few recalled being excited to attend the camp as children.

“This is my Hitler Youth membership card,” said Hans Werk, who eventually became part of the Waffen-SS. “I joined the Jungvolk at the age of 10 and received this. I joined on the 1st of May 1937. Even before I was 10 years old. I couldn’t wait.” Werk later expressed deep and sincere regret about his wartime actions.

An unnamed woman added: “We didn’t support the party. But we liked the uniform. We went along with it, because we enjoyed it — putting on the uniform and going on marches.”

But the innocence was a ruse. From a young age, they were being taught to hate.

“We learned to read with the normal alphabet book, but we also had a Jew-themed alphabet book,” Werk said. “It had a caricature of a Jew for each letter. I remember one in particular: a butcher’s shop that was really greasy and filthy. A disgusting Jew with dirty long hair and a hat, behind the counter. Next to him, a blond German girl with a white apron. He had his hand where it shouldn’t be.”

Although many subjects expressed shame for their role in the Holocaust, others have no regrets at all. When one anonymous man remembered calling guards from the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp to bring back escaped Jewish prisoners who were hiding in his farm’s pigsty, he laughed.

Asked if he still “honors” Adolf Hitler, Karl Hollander, a former SS lieutenant who kept his swastika badges, said, “I still do. The idea was correct … I don’t share the opinion that they should be murdered. They should have been driven out to another country where they could rule themselves. This would have saved a great deal of grief.”

Kurt Sametreiter of the SS also stood his ground.

“The Waffen-SS had nothing to do with the terrible and brutal treatment of Jews and dissidents and the concentration camp,” said Sametreiter. “We were front-line soldiers … I have no regrets, and I will never regret being with that unit. Truly not. A camaraderie like that … You could rely on every man 100%. There was nothing that could go wrong. That was the beauty of it.”

When asked if 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust, Sametreiter denied it.

“That’s a joke,” he said. “I don’t believe it. I will not believe it. It can’t be. Today they say. Excuse me, but it’s the Jew who puts it like that. The scale that is claimed today, I deny that, too. I deny it. It didn’t happen.”

Gaza Rocket Killed Almost Entire Palestinian Family in Gaza

Israeli military officials say a mysterious explosion that killed eight members of a Palestinian family on the first day of the current round of fighting in the Gaza Strip was caused by a misfired Palestinian rocket, not an Israeli airstrike.

Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, a military spokesman, said the rocket was launched in Gaza and fell inside Gaza and killed “almost an entire family.” Conricus added that “this wasn’t an Israeli attack.”

A senior military officer on Wednesday said the incident was investigated, and Israel did not strike the Beit Hanoun area where the family members were killed that night.

The officer said a total of 700 rockets — roughly one-fifth of the total launched by Palestinian militants — failed to reach Israel and landed inside Gaza. He provided no further estimates on how many Palestinians had been harmed by errant rocket fire. The officer spoke on condition of anonymity under military briefing guidelines.

Israel says Hamas is responsible for civilian deaths because the militant group uses residential areas for cover to fire rockets and carry out other military operations. Twelve people in Israel have also been killed, 10 by rocket fire aimed at Israeli towns and cities. Two people died in accidents while rushing for shelter.

Ami Magazine & Chaya Silber Spew Venom & Hate on the Jewish State

Mrs Gittel Fuchs Ruben Davidson
The Shevois issue of Ami Magazine featured a story, written by Ami writer Chaya Silber,  a story about a Mrs. Gittel Davidson, the daughter-in-law of Madeleine Lucette Farraille, a catholic that converted to Judaism, and who subsequently married the leader of the Neturei Karta, the 71 year-old Amram Blau, who was 26 years her senior.

R' Amrom Blau and is second wife Ruth Madeleine Lucette Blau

Mrs Davidson married "Ruth's" son, Claude, who was the only child of Ruth from a previous catholic marriage, and who also converted to Judaism and called himself "Uriel."(more on that later)

Mrs Davidson was born in Denmark, 10 months after WW2 to a Gerer family, and in this story she relates how she wound up getting to know Ruth and her subsequent marriage to Uriel.

This is where it gets interesting and crazy....

Rabbi Yair Hoffman's Convoluted Solution to the Series of Tragedies Amongst the Chareidim

With all due respect to Rabbi Yair Hoffman, who I admire, his solution to the series of tragedies is off the mark and contradicts itself.

He argues that Chareidim should monitor itself without the help of the Israeli government, police or the IDF..
"It shouldn’t be the Israeli government or the police or the IDF, it should be us."
So Rabbi Hoffman.. how did that idea work out for us??
Rabbi H, do you know who is in charge at the Kotel? Can you imagine if Chareidim would be in charge? We would have only chaos and anarchy.

Then the good rabbi suggests that the Chareidim should teach the world "Crowd Control" .... it would be laughable if it weren't so tragic!

  • We should be the ones showing the world that there people should be assessing the nature of the spaces being used – and how their exact people-handling capabilities are.
  • We should be the ones hiring the experts who tell us if the entrances and exits are adequate.
  • We should be the ones implementing ticket collection – because tickets actually save lives.
  • We and the experts we hire should be asking the questions: How best should barriers be employed?
  • Hey Rabbi, can you please hand me some of what you are smoking?
He does have some good ideas, see below

Biden to Rashida Tlaib: 'I'll do everything to keep your grandmother & family safe'

US President Joe Biden praised Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, promising to do "everything" to ensure her "Palestinian" grandmother's safety.

Tlaib's grandmother lives in the village of Beit Ur Al-Fauqa, near Ramallah. The village is under Palestinian Authority control.

Speaking in Dearborn, Michigan, Biden said: “I admire your intellect, I admire your passion and I admire your concern for so many other people.”

“From my heart, I pray that your grandmom and family are well. I promise you, I’ll do everything to see that they are.”

Biden's comments follow Tlaib's criticism of his response to Operation Guardian of the Walls, in which Israel is retaliating for Hamas' attacks on Israeli civilian centers. Though Hamas uses Gazans as human shields, Israel does everything possible to avoid civilian casualties in Gaza, including warning of impending strikes several hours prior, to allow the civilians in the area to evacuate.

No, the Gaza flare-up didn’t kill Trump’s wildly successful Abraham Accords

America’s foreign-policy establishment and peace-process industry are having a field day: The latest round of fighting between Israel and the terror group Hamas, they insist, has sounded the death knell for the Abraham Accords, the Trump-brokered peace treaties between the Jewish state and several Muslim nations.

Leading the Schadenfreude Brigade was White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who on Tuesday declared from her podium:

“We don’t think [the accords] did anything constructive, really, to bring an end to the longstanding conflict in the Middle East.” The peace-processors failed for decades to make Mideast progress, and the Gaza flare-up gives them and their DC mouthpieces (like Psaki) a cheap chance to crow, “I told you so.”

Reality disagrees, however.

The monumental agreements signed last year will continue to flourish, because their foundations remain solid — whereas doing things the peace-processors’ way will return America to the failures of the past.

Facebook shuts down pro-Israel page with millions of followers

Facebook shut down a pro-Israel page that reportedly had millions of followers as the worst conflict in years continued in the Gaza Strip.

“Jerusalem Prayer Group” founder Mike Evans claimed that critics targeted the site by posting “more than a million” comments then reporting they had never posted to the site, CBN reported.

“There was an organized attempt by radical Islamic organizations to achieve this objective,” Evans was quoted as saying.

“It was a very clever, deceptive plan by Islamic radicals.”

He also said the posts included anti-Semitic comments.

Evans didn’t offer proof for the claim but was quoted in Arutz Sheva 7 saying he hadn’t spoken to Facebook representatives since the page was shuttered on Friday.

A Facebook company spokesperson said: “We removed Jerusalem Prayer Team’s Facebook Page for violating our rules against spam and inauthentic behavior.”

The Facebook page became part of a conspiracy theory on social media, in which users said they found they were automatically following the page without ever having chosen to.

Soros-Backed J Street Demands Ceasefire Between Israel, Hamas

JStreet, the George Soros-backed radical left-wing Jewish group that often opposes the Israeli government, called for an immediate ceasefire in Israel’s war with Hamas on Monday — despite the fact that Hamas says a ceasefire would mean victory.

The group, which backed Joe Biden for president in 2020, criticized Biden for not calling for an immediate ceasefire. “To date, the Biden administration has simply not done enough to demand, broker and achieve an immediate end to the violence and destruction,” the group said in a statement, as quoted by the Times of Israel. “They have also provided near blanket diplomatic cover for the Netanyahu government,” J Street added.

The Biden administration began the conflict by drawing equivalences between Hamas terrorism and Israeli legal proceedings regarding disputed homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem. But after Hamas and Islamic Jihad launched thousands of rockets against Israeli civilians, the Biden administration began to change its posture. It has blocked the United Nations Security Council from demanding a ceasefire.

Hamas has let it be known that any ceasefire at this stage would be considered a victory for the group. “[I]f it happens, the ceasefire will be on our conditions, on conditions of the Palestinian resistance, not on conditions of Israeli occupation,” a Hamas spokesman said.

Israel, which has made significant progress in the destruction of Hamas and Islamic Jihad infrastructure, has said it needs at least two more days to neutralize the terror group, which continues to fire hundreds of rockets at Israeli civilians.

Terrorist carrying bomb and machine gun in Chevron ..bomb explodes in his hands, killing him.

An Arab terrorist was killed Tuesday morning during a failed bombing attack in the city of Hebron.

The terrorist approached IDF soldiers stationed at Gross Square in Hebron, carrying a knife, a 'Carlo' style submachine gun, and a pipe bomb he apparently intended to hurl at the soldiers.

The soldiers spotted the terrorist and opened fire.

During the incident, the pipe bomb exploded in the terrorist's hands.

The terrorist was killed during the abortive attack.

No injuries were reported among the IDF forces at the scene.

An army bomb squad was dispatched to remove the remnants of the pipe bomb.

The abortive attack took place at the entrance to the Avraham Avinu neighborhood, one of the Jewish enclaves near the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

How The Associated Press Collaborated With Nazis Against Jews

AP Berlin bureau chief Louis P. Lochner, somewhere in Germany, stands next to a Nazi soldier seated in a piece of artillery.
by

Did the Associated Press, the venerable American agency that is one of the world’s biggest news providers, collaborate with the Nazis during World War II?

A report and new counter-report on this subject offer a few striking lessons—not just for students of history but for anyone concerned with the way news coverage shapes our perception right now.

A paper last year by the German historian Harriet Scharnberg titled “The A and P of Propaganda” and published in Studies in Contemporary History makes the case that beginning in the mid-1930s, the AP’s photo office in Germany made compromise after compromise to keep reporting under Nazi rule, obeying successive orders from the Hitler regime until it ended up as a Nazi information arm in all but name. Remaining in Berlin after its competitors departed in 1935 allowed the AP to serve as a “key channel” for German propaganda, she wrote, an arrangement the New York-based agency was eager to preserve—even if it meant removing all of its Jewish photographers in keeping with Nazi race laws, for example, and even if it meant issuing a statement to the official SS magazine swearing that the photo bureau was pure Aryan.

In the Nazi years, according to Scharnberg, the AP was selling German images in the United States and selling images from the United States in Germany, allowing photographs of American Jews and others to be used in some of the vilest racial propaganda produced by the Nazi state. The AP was, for example, the “leading supplier” of images for a propaganda book called The Jews in the USA, and in third place among suppliers of photos for the book The Subhuman.

Eventually, Scharnberg claimed, the line between the AP’s German photo operation and the Nazi regime effectively ceased to exist—even as the Nazis pursued projects like the concentration camp at Dachau, which opened in 1933, and the “euthanasia” of disabled children, which began in the summer of 1939.

What did the AP decide to cover, and how? Well, the head of AP’s picture service in Berlin went on to be an official Nazi photo censor. If AP photos from the German advance into Poland and Russia offered an image of the war that didn’t show things like the organized murder of tens of thousands of Jews and others behind the lines by the Einsatzgruppen, it was perhaps because the photos were taken by people like Franz Roth—who was, we learn from Scharnberg’s report, simultaneously an “AP photographer, SS-Oberscharführer (senior squad leader) and photojournalist in the SS Propaganda Company (SS-PK).” In his SS role, Roth took propaganda images showing Soviet prisoners as ugly human specimens—and AP, in turn, “received exclusive rights to the propaganda photos,” which were published in newspapers in Atlanta and Los Angeles.

Associated Press Lying When It Claims that it is "unaware of Hamas in building"

The Associated Press has been blasted for claiming it had no clue Hamas militants maintained a presence at the news agency’s Gaza headquarters that was destroyed in an Israeli airstrike.

Israel said it shared “smoking gun” evidence with Biden administration officials that Hamas was operating out of the Al-Jalaa Tower, which housed the AP, Al Jazeera and other news outlets, according to a report Sunday.

The strike destroyed the 12-story building an hour after the Israeli military ordered it evacuated, saying the high-rise was targeted because it was being used by Hamas military intelligence, Fox News reported.

The AP condemned Israel for the attack and claimed to have “no indication” that the terror group operated from the building.

“We have had no indication Hamas was in the building or active in the building,” AP president and CEO Gary Pruitt said in a statement. “This is something we actively check to the best of our ability. We would never knowingly put our journalists at risk.”

He added that he was “shocked and horrified that the Israeli military would target and destroy the building housing AP’s bureau and other news organizations in Gaza.”

However, a 2014 article in The Atlantic written by a journalist in the region described a questionable history between the news agency and Hamas.

“When Hamas’s leaders surveyed their assets before this summer’s round of fighting, they knew that among those assets was the international press,” Matti Friedman wrote.

“The AP staff in Gaza City would witness a rocket launch right beside their office, endangering reporters and other civilians nearby — and the AP wouldn’t report it,” he wrote.

Friedman claimed the Hamas militants would regularly “burst into the AP’s Gaza bureau and threaten the staff — and the AP wouldn’t report it.”’

Senior Islamic Jihad commander killed in Israeli airstrike

Senior Islamic Jihad commander Hussam Abu Harbeed was killed Monday in the Gaza Strip by an Israeli airstrike, the Israel Defense Forces said.

Abu Harbeed, who commanded the terror group’s northern Gaza division, led attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians for nearly 15 years, the military said in a statement. He was also allegedly directly responsible for anti-tank missile fire that lightly wounded an Israeli civilian last week.

Islamic Jihad confirmed the reports, calling Abu Harbeed “our blessed martyr.”

“The martyr Hussam was a model as a leader and a soldier and in the performance of his tasks and duties,” the group said in a statement.

The terror group often works alongside Gaza’s Hamas rulers, and their armed wings are closely aligned.

According to unconfirmed reports in Palestinian media, Abu Harbeed was killed near his home in Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip.

Palestinian factions in the coastal enclave began intensive rocket fire towards southern Israel shortly after the alleged targeted killing, triggering sirens in numerous communities.

One of the rockets landed in the southern city of Ashdod, lightly hurting three Israelis. Another five people at the scene were treated for shock.

Meanwhile, initial reports indicated another three Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Monday as Israeli forces struck a car in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Israel has long sought to eliminate the leadership of armed Palestinian organizations in Gaza, including through targeted airstrikes. Over the past week, at least three Islamic Jihad commanders and a senior Hamas figure were killed in Israeli strikes.

In 2019, Israel targeted senior Islamic Jihad commander Baha Abu al-Ata, successfully killing him. Abu al-Ata’s death touched off a round of escalation between Israel and Islamic Jihad, leading to the deaths of 34 Palestinians.

It was unclear how the killing of Abu Harbeed — who was reportedly seen as Abu al-Ata’s heir  — could play into ongoing attempts to reach a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

The targeted killing comes as hostilities between Israel and Gaza-based terror groups carried on for an eighth day.

“The Shin Bet deserves immense credit for their exceptional intelligence,” IDF spokesperson Hidai Zilberman said Monday when referring to the targeting of Abu Harbeed.

Zilberman also spoke of Hamas’s internal Gaza tunnel network — referred to by the IDF as “the metro”, which was bombarded numerous times over the course of the fighting. The military on Monday claimed it had destroyed some 100 kilometers’ worth of tunnels.

“We see the [terror group] members fear of going underground,” Zilberman said. “They have a very big dilemma whether to be above or below ground. I think the impact on rocket fire is not high, but the impact on other aspects including [Hamas’s] command and control is much higher,” he added.

Palestinian terrorists in Gaza have fired some 3,000 rockets at Israel since the outbreak of fighting on Monday, according to the Israel Defense Forces. Israel has responded with widespread airstrikes against targets across the Gaza Strip.
