The only thing that is truly disproportionate is the media coverage. No other war zone in the entire world gets this kind of disproportionate coverage.
I think by definition, if you want to win a war you need to be disproportionate, ie inflict more losses on the other side than you suffered, and to keep doing it if they refuse to surrender. How much more so if they have your family as hostages. Naarishkeit
