Mrs Birnhak Whose Husband & Father Were Killed in Monsey Has Baby Boy




Just hours after her husband and father succumbed to injuries sustained in a fatal collision, a New Square woman has given birth to a baby boy.

A van transporting the members of two New Square families to the city for a wedding veered off the eastbound lanes of New Hempstead Road and slammed into a tree. 47 year old Aharon Shmuel Deutsch and his 22 year old son in law Shlomo Birnhack were later pronounced dead at Nyack Hospital.
The Ramapo Police Department reported that the incident took place at approximately 4:21 PM on New Hempstead Road just one mile away from the main entrance to New Square, with the 2009 Ford Econoline van so severey damaged that all ten passengers and the hired driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. The Ramapo Police Department, New York State Police, New York State Park Police, Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkstown Police Department, Hillcreset Fire Company No. 1, New City Fire Engine Company No. 1, Hatzolah of Rockland County, Chaverim of Rockland, Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps and Village of New Square EMS all responded to the scene.
Sources confirmed that both of the deceased men’s wives were seriously injured and intubated. Several children in the van were also seriously injured, with one sustaining an open skull fracture and two others suffering fractured femurs.
