Plague of locusts set to descend upon Middle East in time for Passover

A plague of locusts the likes of which have been unseen for over 30 years is about to hit Africa and the Middle East. Adding to the perfect biblical storm, the current coronavirus pandemic is affecting travel of international experts and in-country gatherings for training to combat the locust threat, said Rome-based Senior Locust Forecasting Officer Keith Cressman on Monday.

Cressman works at Locust Watch, a division of the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization, which gives emergency assistance to countries facing desert locust invasions and constantly monitors the status of potential infestations. According to the organization’s most recent forecast report, there are new “extremely alarming” swarms forming in Horn of Africa.

Cressman, who has worked with the organization for over three decades, told The Times of Israel on Monday that the previous time the region has been in such danger was during the plague of 1987-1989.

Paul Krugman, the Nobel Prize-winning trade economist and New York Times columnist, celebrated the sharp decline of the stock market due to the coronavirus on the grounds that, in his opinion, it would hurt President Donald Trump.

“Economists, myself included, often make a point of saying that the stock market is not the economy, which it isn’t. It *is,” however, pretty much the Trump presidency,” Krugman tweeted. “Take away his magic talisman and there’s nothing left.”

Krugman was one of the most prominent economists to mistakenly predict that markets would collapse following the election of Donald Trump.

An American teenager is at the helm of a website currently being accessed by millions of people across the world. It is updated every minute on the deadly COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic as it spreads.

Since it launched in late December, the website, ncov2019.live, has been visited by more than 12 million people.

Avi Schiffmann, a 17-year-old tech-savvy Seattle area resident, uses reliable data from around the world to include on his website. The website displays the latest, real-time statistics on the number of confirmed cases, serious cases, deaths, and recovered, including statistics both worldwide and in each country.

The website also serves as host to an interactive Google map, Twitter feed, preventative measures to stop the spread of the virus, information about the virus, travel tips, and preparation for quarantine.

Police ask public to stop calling 911 over lack of toilet paper...

Police are trained to respond to all kinds of emergencies, but this is a new one.

One police department in Oregon posted a reminder on their Facebook page, asking the public to not call for an emergency if they run out of toilet paper due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The post then pointed out the different methods used throughout history before suggesting other items that could be used in lieu of "your favorite soft, ultra plush two-ply citrus scented tissue."

Among their suggestions: grocery store receipts, newspaper, cloth rags, magazine pages, cotton balls and even leaves.

"Be resourceful. Be patient. There is a TP shortage. This too shall pass. Just don’t call 9-1-1. We cannot bring you toilet paper," the post concluded.

Wife of murdered rabbi attacks Gantz: 'You granted legitimacy to murderers'

Rabbi Raziel Shevach Hy"d (may God avenge his death) was murdered in a terror attack near Havat Gilad in Samaria in 2018.

In a Facebook post, his widow Yael, who is now raising the couple's six children alone, expressed her anguish at recent developments on the political scene, specifically, the plan of the Blue & White party and its leader Benny Gantz to cooperate with the predominantly Arab Joint List in order to form a government.

I'm not talking about the fact that Reb Chaim said that he "never heard of this deadly virus...."..looks like he didn't know ..it's not like he reads this stuff...

But what is crazy, is that right after the guy hears this from R' Chaim's own mouth, he says that
"this is proof that "Corona" doesn't exist! "
Because if the Rav didn't hear about it .... how can it possibly exist?

In Ashdod ....Yeshivishe Couple Try to Circumvent Ban on Weddings .... so they make the Wedding 4:30 in the morning!

Mazal Tov! Nice way to start a Jewish home by violating regulations and infection the guests ..

Police raided a wedding taking place Sunday morning and dispersed the guests after new regulations took effect Saturday night prohibiting gatherings of over 10 people in one place.

The wedding was set for 4:30 in the morning in an attempt to circumvent the new regulations and hold a large gathering. However police arrived at 8 A.M. and dispersed the guests.
