why are you assuming he is "not frum?" Because he like the Ramchal has no beard? Or is it because he has no BO and no bad breath? I know a guy a well chazan who wears a dead skunk on his head on Shabbos and watches TV on Shabbat. Would you prefer a guy like him? BTW if he cannot sing, he should sit on his fat ass and not be the chazan, I don't need to hear some shmuck croak and torture me for an hour.
Yisroel Rand has really aged since he left the Hampton synagogue he still is one of the greats in his profession I could listen to him for hours in my humble opinion he far surpasses Naftali H “Zuggen capabilities his voice as well. A real star what he does in private is his business nobody compared to Zanvel Kwartin’s Nusach but he was no tzadik and all those ehrliche Yidden came to hear him.
