It is interesting to note that nobody in this film collection is wearing the yellow star badge on their clothing, even after the Nazis took over.

It's also interesting to see that the "hareidi" Jews in pre-war Europe were a lot more easy-going about their "frumkeit" than we see today.

The "Alte Heim" shouldn't be just limited to the Ashkenazic--centric world. Here's one of Rav Ovadia Yosef, his wife and children.
In contrast to today's Chareidistan perversion of Halacha, older communities found it normal for men and women, husbands, wives children to be be photographed in normal situations. I saw no photo-shopped female faces blotted out of the older communities pictorial records.

Abe, don't quote from failesmessiah; you lose credability...

And to 7:43 PM, you're right. Artzeinu HaKedosha IS home. But still, old Europe was a special place because of how long we lived there.

AishKodesh 10:12 AM,

I didn't quote FailedMesdish, I only copied and pasted the pic to demonstrate my point. I didn't agree with many of FM's journalistic stratagems. Many were sensationalist but much was good journalistic muckraking. I don't think the financial , sexual and pedophelia scandals that plagues Chareidi Judaism to this day would have been uncovered were it not for FM.
