Thousands visit Rabbi Kook's grave in Jerusalem

Thousands of Jews from all over Israel arrived at Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak Hacohen Kook's grave on Jerusalem's Mount of Olives, commemorating 82 years since his passing.

Among the thousands of visitors were Beit El Yeshiva Dean Rabbi Zalman Baruch Melamed, Har Hamor Yeshiva Dean Rabbi Tzvi Tau, Deputy Defense Minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan (Jewish Home), and other rabbis, students, and yeshiva deans. Rabbi Yaakov Shapira, dean of Merkaz HaRav yeshiva founded by Rabbi Kook is a cohen forbidden by halakha to enter a cemetery. The yeshiva had a memorial evening in Beit HaRav Kook in his memory.

Born in a village in Latvia in 1865, Rabbi Kook received received rabbinical ordination from Rabbi Yechiel Michal HaLevy Epstein, the author of the Arukh HaShulchan at the young age of 19. That same year, he became engaged to the daughter of the Aderet, Rabbi Eliyahu David Rabinowitz-Teomim. She gave birth to a daughter, but died just a few years later. Thereafter, Rabbi Kook married her first cousin, daughter of the Aderet’s twin brother; she bore him two daughters and a son, the famed Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda Kook.
Rabbi Kook was Israel's first Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi, as well as a rabbinic authority, kabbalist, and philosopher.
He founded Israel's Chief Rabbinate, as well as the Merkaz Harav yeshiva in Jerusalem.

Hannah, the thousands came throughout the day, unless you want to see a picture every minute and they'll be thousands of pictures.

Hannah isn't interested on how many people attended she is following the fanatical anti-Kook agenda that rewrote history and are now making the great Tzaddik into a villain.

Of course there weren't thousands. (Had there been, you would've seen at least 100-200 on the photo!)

Sadly Rav Kook is far more persona non grata these days than he was in his lifetime - where some of the Litvish gedolim publicly respected him.
These days the Litvish gedolim are far more anti-Kook (despite Rav Elyashiv and RSZ Auerbach's known pro-Kook views) than even the Hungarians who have in the main forgotten about him.
It is rare to see any sefer of RK in any charedi yeshiva or bes hamedrash anywhere in israel or the world

Bob%%%%, So what's your point? Most jews don't observe the Torah duz that mean that the Torah isn'r real or holy?
I have a relative in Israel who's in a high position and he absolutely condemns the politics , the mcahlokes the denigtration of other Jewish chaburas, the chillul Hashem in Israel that many your guys do.
The tragedies that unfold in Israel can be traced to these doings by religious Jews . Had we had more Rav Kooks moshiach would have come, he was a man of peace and shalom and respected every Jew, you with your arrogance can learn from him , that's what sad.

Bob is an example of why moshiach hasm't come and why we have so many tzoras. he's in love with the move to the right with all its chumras and shtussim that have taken the neshama out of the Torah,
This little chagav has the kelev chutzpah to talk against a great man who few people understood but respected his yiras Shamayim. .

Mr Bob and Hannah!!!!
My brother in law is a rav in the Gush and attended the memorial at the tziyon. There were indeed thousands from all over EretzYisroel, all you have to do ask anybody who was there, you don't have to take my word for it. Before Rosh Hashana, I urge you to do a tseshuva on your insults to this great tzaddik. How dare you demean under convenient anonymity, who are you?

bob%%%% how come you didn't comment on the Shabbos desecration in Monsey abut you're busy with Rav Kook and Litvishe gedolim today?

Rav Kook zt"l was a great man. And to any of those who wonder, there can be peace between even him and Satmar. There is a Rav with whom I am close, B"H, who told me that on his bookshelf, there is stuff from the Vilna Gaon zt"l next to stuff from the Baal Shem Tov zt"l -- and from the Satmar Rebbe zt"l next to stuff from Rav Kook zt"l.

Despite having conflicting views in Yiddishkeit, we can all get along.

7;55' You're wasting your time answering this guy. He's bothered by Harav Kook Zt"ZL but you have to wonder if he's ok with rock throwing on Shabbos, making hafganas in busy intersections causing chillul Hashem, inconveniencing people, lack of hakoras hatov, spitting at women, throwing IDF religious holy soldiers out f shuls, mevayish them berabim, he seems ok with this, I didn't hear any of his litvishe "gedolim" condemning this nor did we see any of Harav Kook's talmidim ever do such filth anytime. Why even argue with this punk
