Monsey .... The Scheiner Shul & Stolin Shul May have been Exposed To Virus

New cases of the novel strain of the coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as new sites of exposure have been identified in Rockland County.

There are now a total of 45 positive cases of COVID-19 are now being reported in the county, Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert announced late Wednesday, March 18.

That's an increase of 15 cases over the total of 30 reported just before midday on Wednesday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Sites For Potential Exposure

Anyone who visited the following locations in Rockland County may have been exposed to coronavirus (COVID-19) and must stay in quarantine until the end date listed for each location:

Ohr Chaim Synagogue

Located at 18-20 Forshay Road, Monsey

Potential Exposure date: Sunday, March 8

Quarantine must continue until Monday, March 23

L’Dor (adult care facility)

Located at 156 West Clarkstown Road, New City

Potential Exposure dates: Wednesday, March 11, Thursday, March 12, and Friday, March 13

Quarantine for 14 days from last exposure with the latest end date of Saturday, March 28

Karlin Stolin Synagogue

Located at 52 Main Street, Monsey

Potential Exposure date: Monday, March 16

Quarantine must continue until Tuesday, March 31

"COVID-19 is spreading quickly throughout the county and all residents are advised to stay home, including children and teens not in school," Day and Ruppert said in a statement. "Practice social distancing by keeping 6 feet away from other people.

" Stay home unless you must go to work, need medical care, or groceries. Consider using delivery services for supplies.

"Remember to wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, don’t touch eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, and cover your cough with your sleeve or a tissue."

Frum MK Omer Yankelevitch a Blue & White ... Against Government With Arabs

Shaitel wearing MK Omer Yankelevitch, a member of the Blue and White faction on behalf of Benny Gantz’s Israel Resilience party, opposes the establishment of a left-wing minority government that will rely on the votes of the members of the Arab Joint List party.

According to a report on Tuesday on Channel 12 News, Yankelevitch announced her position to Gantz, joining MKs Zvi Hauser and Yoaz Hendel, who are members of the Blue and White faction on behalf of Moshe Ya’alon’s Telem party.

However, according to the report, officials in Blue and White believe that, unlike Hauser and Hendel, Yankelevitch will vote according to faction discipline on this matter.

Meanwhile, close associates of Hauser and Hendel have made it clear over the past few days that should Gantz bring before the Knesset a government led by him which is supported by the votes of the Joint List, they will vote against it and will not abstain or be absent during the vote.

The message means that as of today, Benny Gantz will not be able to form a minority government supported by members of the Joint List

STOP THE MINYANIM: Respected Frum Doctor In Queens Writes Open Letter

This is Ellie Bennett.

You all know who I am and where I work. I just feel that I have to go on record.

It is my medical opinion, and the same of all the infectious disease experts, that these minyamin are going to kill people. I know it is very difficult for you all to understand it because it seems like an innocuous gathering of 15 to 20 people. I will happily take any of you on a 5-minute tour of what is going on in my hospital right now.

As of this past Thursday we had seven patients sick enough to be admitted. As of yesterday it was 30 and as of today it’s 50. Elderly people from our neighborhood are on ventilators in the ICU because of these minyanim.

There’s a 6:00AM minyan, followed by 7:00AM followed by 8:00AM followed by 9:00AM Minyan. Even if only 25 people come to each, that’s a hundred people in the same room in the same morning.

Statistically, you guys are going to kill at least one old person every time you guys meet.

You all trust me to treat you like family when you come to my office, so I’m speaking to you like family. Stop the minyan. Stop the gatherings. Stay home and pray by yourself. Have in mind the EMTs and paramedics and doctors and nurses working in the hospitals who are working under ridiculous conditions trying to save as many people as we can. I admit, there will not be thousands of deaths in Kew Gardens Hills (Queens). But are we really willing to accept that 1 out of 100 people in our neighborhood will die? I am not.

We trust doctors whether or not to eat on Yom Kippur or when to make a bris.

Why all of a sudden do you think it’s appropriate to ignore us?

Finally: Police Arrest Organizer Of Illegal Mass Wedding In Beit Shemesh

Police arrested four people Tuesday night after they participated in a Chareidi wedding in the city of Beit Shemesh where at least 150 people were present in violation of Health Ministry guidelines limiting the number of people at gatherings to 10 and closing event halls and restaurants.

According to a report on Kikar Hashabat, the four were the father of the groom, an American citizen, who arrived in Israel from the United States and was supposed to have been in quarantine; the father of the bride; the caterer; and a resident of Jerusalem who reportedly organized the wedding. The father of the groom was later released and will be questioned by police after completing his mandatory 14-day quarantine. The father of the bride was also released.

A police spokesman said that the detainees had “violated a public health injunction and thus endangered the public,” and called on the public to “keep to the specific guidelines and orders of the Health Ministry to help contain the outbreak of the coronavirus.”

Apparently two weddings took place illegally on Tuesday night, one of which was for the grandson of a Chasidic Rebbe and the other for the son of a prominent donor from Williamsburg. Police arrested the person responsible for organizing the second wedding. The tweets here belong to two Chareidi Israeli journalists, Yair Sharki and Eli Shlezinger. Sharki wrote regarding the first wedding that “this is not just negligence or ignorance but willful trampling and flaunting of all the precautionary measures. The first to be hit will be the celebrators and their families and then the rest of us.”

White House Holds Phone Conference With Rabbonim & Community Activists ..."Frum Community Ignoring All Warnings!"

An urgent phone meeting regarding the spread of the Coronavirus conducted by the Whitehouse concluded moments ago at which dozens of Admorim and Rabbonim participated. 

Leading the meeting was Avi Berkowitz and a council for the President. President Trump and VP Pence did not participate in the call.

The reason for the call was because of the total lack of concern in the Orthodox Jewish community in the NY/NJ area, despite the non-stop calls from health officials and doctors to take serious action. 

To hit this point home, as the conference call was taking place, a wedding in Ateres Avrohom Hall in Williamsburg with hundreds of guests was shut down by the FDNY, despite repeated pleas by the President, Governor and Mayor not to have gatherings of more than 10 people.

More than 3 dozen times the white house reiterated how if this is not taken seriously, this will “turn into a serious issue of Pikuach Nefesh”.

"Makkas Arbah" set to descend upon Middle East in time for Pesach But Not In Israel

A plague of locusts the likes of which have been unseen for over 30 years is about to hit Africa and the Middle East. Adding to the perfect biblical storm, the current coronavirus pandemic is affecting travel of international experts and in-country gatherings for training to combat the locust threat, said Rome-based Senior Locust Forecasting Officer Keith Cressman on Monday.

Cressman works at Locust Watch, a division of the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization, which gives emergency assistance to countries facing desert locust invasions and constantly monitors the status of potential infestations. According to the organization’s most recent forecast report, there are new “extremely alarming” swarms forming in Horn of Africa.

Cressman, who has worked with the organization for over three decades, told The Times of Israel on Monday that the previous time the region has been in such danger was during the plague of 1987-1989.

The Desert Locust (Schistocerca gregaria) “is the most destructive migratory pest in the world,” according to the Locust Watch website. As depicted in the Book of Exodus, when the highly mobile swarms of Desert Locust form, “they are ravenous eaters who consume their own weight per day, targeting food crops and forage.”

While one locust may not seem a major fresser (eater, Yiddish), the swarms can grow to millions of individuals, “with the capacity to consume the same amount of food in one day as 35,000 people.”

The current widespread breeding in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia represents “an unprecedented threat to food security and livelihoods at the beginning of the upcoming cropping season,” writes the Locust Watch website.

Bobov Has 50 Confirmed Cases of Corona.... Over 100 Cases in BP

More than 100 people in Boro Park and Williamsburg have tested positive for COVID-19.

Asisa urgent care clinics, which began testing just days ago at two Boro Park locations and one in Williamsburg, told Hamodia Tuesday that it has over a hundred positive tests across the three locations.

The clinics administered over 500 tests. Some results are still pending.

Asisa only tested patients exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or those in proximity to someone who has tested positive.

There have been 50 confirmed cases in the Bobov community.

The new virus has hit other communities as well.

In a voicenote that went around social media Tuesday morning warning of the virus’s dangers, Chasky Rosenberg, a Bobover askan who is also a paramedic, said that in Crown Heights alone, there are 10 coronavirus patients on respirators. Rosenberg urged that people over 60 years old – who are most at risk from the disease – completely isolate themselves.

Rabbi Warns Vatican: Return Temple Vessels or Corona-Virus in Rome Worsens

As the COVID-19 crisis worsens worldwide, the Nation of Israel requests that the Vatican immediately return to Jerusalem the Temple vessels that have been stored in Rome for nearly 2000 years. 

Rabbi Levi Sudri, an award-winning Bible expert, noted that a divine message must surely be contained within the coronavirus.

“It is clear to everyone that we are living in powerful times,” Rabbi Sudri said. “It is our responsibility to understand what God wants from us. We have no prophets today, so we need to do our best to understand.”

Rabbi Sudri pointed out that the coronavirus began in China and very quickly took hold of Italy in a counter-intuitive manner. 

“What is the connection between China and Italy?” Rabbi Sudri asked. “They are geographically distant from each other. That is true but they have a spiritual connection in that they are both centers of two different types of idolatry.”
