Again, this is the failure of the Dati Leumi community who should have a way to catch guys like this and show them that they can be religious and normal instead of the false dichotomy both sides push.

From what I remember when I was blogging, the first problem is that boys like this are raised with "Either you're Chareidi or you're Chiloni. There is no in-between and the Dati Leumi are a joke to think there is." So you'd get OTD's mocking the DL community for being insincere and not really religious even as they went on about how great they had it now that they were OTD. The second is that the various secular outreach organizations that help Chareidim transfer to the real world encourage this all-or-nothing attitude and never offer DL as an option.
