Music and language tell stories of contact between cultures. Look up "Dschingis Khan Eurovision" and you will find the melody of an MBD song with rather carnal lyrics. I have heard a Karaite song that had a rabbinic Jewish version. A song called "Lev Tahor" derives its melody from a Greek popular song. Then there are communist youth group songs that have Jewish versions with very different lyrics. Language, music and cuisine all bear testimony to cultural contact. Denying this makes no sense.
