Rav Mordcha Dovid Unger decides to take the path of Peace .... "We will be Bobov-45"

We will give credit where credit is due!
Reb Mordcha Dovid Unger, Bobover 45 Rebbe, has ruled that he will abide by the USA Bais Din and call his Mosdos, "Bobov 45!"
This was the right thing to do and This is a huge Kiddush Hashem, and we hope this will bring peace amongst the Bobover Camps!
It also gives us hope!

Thousands of Chassidim participated last night, Tuesday, in a monumental gathering organized by Bobov-45, regarding the Borerus that was issued at the end of August, containing numerous clauses against the community.

Recently, the verdict spawned a storm of controversy concerning its execution, and several Gedolei Yisroel wrote letters condemning the verdict. The Gaon R’ Moshe Sternbuch shlita, Rosh Av Beis Din of Badatz Eidah haChareidis, referred to the verdict as ‘perplexing’. To his scathing letter, Maran HaGaon R’ Chaim Kanievsky shlita added remarks about the importance of peace and that, understandably, this verdict is the antithesis of peace.

Only Chassidim who had gotten entry tickets beforehand were permitted to attend the gathering, and the three thousand seats filled up quickly. Buses transported Chassidim from all major neighborhoods, and the dais was filled with illustrious members of the Chassidus and with the revered offspring of the Bobover Rebbes zy”a.

In attendance were many notable grandchildren of the Kedushas Tzion: Rabbi Professor Abraham J. Twersky, Sassover Rabbi Shlomo Freshwatter, and the Sorvosher Ruv Rabbi Burech Duvid Halbershtam , Pokshevitzer ruv, Rabbi Yecvhiel Halberstam among others.

After that, the Gabbai libais Bobov R’ Simcha Pinchos Strohli introduced the event with an explanation of its purpose, the Rebbe of Bobov-45 began his riveting lecture.

Following is a synopsis of its main points:

“Now that we find ourselves in a situation where there are two paths that we can take, I want to discuss the matter. Rosh Chodesh Elul, shortly after the Borerus regarding ‘Bobov’ was issued, I said that we will hear from the Gedolei Yisroel about the right thing to do, as per da’as Torah

I asked the kehillah not to immerse themselves in this matter.  I wanted Ellul should look like Ellul, with the tzibur immersed in torah and Avodah. We assigned the dedicated askanim who went around to the homes of Gedolei Yisroel and revered Rabbanim to ask their opinion in regards to obeying the verdict.

“Now I want to share with you what the Gedolei Yisroel said. The actual Borerus was incomprehensible to them, and every one of the gedolim used a different turn of phrase – several said that it is biased, others said that it is actually a distortion of halacha, while several used even harsher descriptions. There were even several amongst them who said that it is permitted to go to court to obtain a stop-order.

“One of the most renowned poskim in Eretz Yisroel, HaGaon R’ Mendel Shafran shlita, told me in conversation that “It is permitted to go to court to request a stop-order against the Borerus.” I asked him if I may publicize these words in his name, and he clearly replied that I may definitely do so, and that his words could even be recorded and publicized.

Other Gedolei Yisroel told us to turn to a 3rd party Beis Din, considering that doubts regarding the viability of several Borerim that sat on the Borerus had been revealed, and we received a hazmanah (i.e. summons) from this Beis Din summoning several of the dayanim, as well as an ikul (i.e. stop-order on the borerus verdict).

“Since we have such widespread support against the Borerus, maybe it would be proper not to obey the Borerus that the Borerim issued.

On the other hand, I fear that by not obeying, we will create a michshol (i.e. stumbling block), and going to court could result in chilul Hashem. Nowadays, when the status of Batei Din in the diaspora is so weak, our disregard of the Borerus could cause the Batei Din to be even more degraded. There will be those who will say that in Bobov, the Borerus was not upheld, which means that one is not required to listen to Beis Din at all. This could chas v’sholom lead to transgressions. People will not realize that in our case, there was a specific heter, and they will allow themselves to follow our lead by going to court. This is extremely undesirable.

“Another  hesitation that I had was that if we don’t obey the Borerus, it will cause the fires of controversy to burn even stronger.”

The Rebbe quoted the mishna that states that ‘it is better to be termed a fool one’s entire life than to be considered a rasha before Hashem for even one hour’. He mentioned an explanation from his grandfather as well as other Torah thoughts.

Thereafter, the Rebbe enumerated the reasons why he should not obey the Borerus:

a) We have the support of Gedolei Yisroel not to obey the Borerus

b) To uphold the honor of his father-in-law, the Bobover Rav zt”l, whose degradation is painful to all. This is a strong reason not to obey,

3) The humiliation of our kehillah caused by the verdict, and why should we agree to this, especially after all the anguish that this machlokes caused in so many families throughout the years.

“There are two sides before us – one dictates that we obey and one dictates that we should not obey.

I plumbed the depths of this matter, together with my brother-in-law, HaGaon HaRav shlita, and we made the decision that we will do what our father-in-law, the Rav zt”l, would have done if he would have been faced with such a situation.

It is clear as day that my father-in-law and his grandfathers, the Bobover Rebbes zt”l, would certainly have chosen the path that is closest to peace, as we have seen in their conduct throughout the years.
“Therefore, this is our decision – to go in the path that is closest to peace. This is not a degradation; this is the path of our forbearsThis is the Bobover derech. But this only applies if there will be complete peace. I say this to those who are here and to those who are not here. We are taking this step only to attain peace, and only if there will be peace, will the verdict be obeyed…

“We will go with this distinction – 45 – and as I previously said, we do not view this as a degradation and this is not an accompanying title. Rather, it is a random distinction, and we should note that, linguistically, this signifies the path of the Rav zt”l – ‘vanachni mah’ (i.e. a path of humility, signified by the numerical equivalence of the word ‘mah’ which is 45).

In conclusion, the Rebbe spoke about the glory of the kehillah, with its multitude of branches internationally, and its many magnificent mosdos educating approximately 4,500 students.
“We must now proceed with the building of our Beis Medrash, and several millions have already been pledged by philanthropists in our community. We hope that very soon construction will begin.”

The Rebbe mentioned the gruesome tragedy that took place that day in Yerushalayim and blessed that in the merit of following a path of Shalom and making a Kiddush Hashem, our brethren in Israel should be protected from harm.

The Rebbe referenced the words in this week’s parsha

‘And he moved away from there, and he dug another well and they did not fight over it, and he named that place Rechovos, and he said that now Hashem has expanded for us and we have multiplied in the land’.

The Rebbe concluded his historic remarks with a beracha that we should always merit going in the ways of our forbears.

After the Rebbe’s speech, the massive crowd instantaneously burst into song and dance, led by the Rebbe and all those seated on the dais.

Thereafter, Harav R’ Shlomo Freshwater shlitaAv Beis Din Sossov-London, and a descendant of the Kedushas Zion zy”a, took the floor. He had traveled from London to participate in this historic gathering.
Rav Freshwater described in full detail the greatness of the Rebbe and the community, and the magnitude of the decision that the Rebbe had made despite the fact that he could have easily done otherwise.  He described the strong mesirus nefesth that is inherent in this decision.

That evening, immediately after the gathering, the Rebbe ordered all menahilim and gabbaim to make a Kiddush Hashem and switch the signs, plaques and letterheads as soon as possible to incorporate the distinction.

Bais Din, Shmes Din, Bobov 45 Ignores Bais Din Ruling to stop calling itself "Bobov"

Normally, I would say, "Who Cares?"
But this is in line with  our previous post with the Heading:

"Noveminsker Attacks Bloggers"

The "Gedoilim" don't give 2 hoots about any rulings of Bais Din! They just want the Bloggers to heed the Torah and the 613 mitzvos,  The Gedoilim, don't have to listen to the Torah... they don't have to listen to Bais Din, they can go to Secular Court.... but us bloggers have to crawl under rocks, observe all this hypocrisy and keep our mouths shut! and Chap their Shrayim!
In the Litvisher Camp, Rav Shechter and Rav Belsky have ignored the Psak of many a Bais Din!

You won't hear  the "Agudah Convention Gedoilim" talking  about Gedolim observing the Torah like the rest of us schnooks! Nooooo!
You won't hear any Gadol talk about the second Rashi in Parshas Mishpatim..... Noooooo!
Bloggers ....bad bloggers.....naughty bloggers..... loshon hara bloggers....
If the Gedoilim who were at the Aguda Convention do not come out with a statement condemning this Chillul Hashem, then these are not leaders...

Reb Mordecha Dovid Unger, Bobover Rebbe

Reb Benzion Halberstam, Bobover Rebbe

A brief history:
Reb Shloimeh Halberstam z"l, the First Bobover Rebbe in the USA, had two sons, Reb Naftulche, who was born in Europe before WW2 and was from his first wife (she was murdered in the camps) , and Reb Ben-Zion who was born in the USA was from the Rebbe's second wife.

When Reb Shloimeh z"l passed on, naturally his eldest son Rav Naftulche became Rebbe..
Reb Naftulche after waiting over 40 years to become Rebbe succumbed to an illness soon after becoming Rebbe and  passed away.

Reb Naftulche z"l, had no sons, and was "burdened" with daughters only!
One Daughter married Rabbi Rubin and the other married Rabbi Mordcha Dovid Unger.

Now that Reb Naftulche went to his Maker, Reb Ben-Zion claims that the Rebbe Shloimeh's  inheritance goes back to Reb Shloimeh's other son. him.
Rabbi Unger, the son-in-law of Reb Naftulche claims that the Rebbistiveh belongs to him, because he is inheriting from Reb Naftulche z"l...
(though daughters do not inherit al pi Torah, but who cares)

So, as you can imagine, actual fists fights broke out between both Bobover Camps, both screaming that their guy is the Bobover Rebbe!
Don't forget there was and is  millions of dollars of real estate involved, and the guys surrounding the Rebbes are also in on the take and on the payroll... each Rebbe has tons of Gaboim etc.... all grabbing the $$$$$$$$$$'s!

So they went to Secular Court.. and the Secular Judge threw them both out and told the two Rebbes to work it out in Bais Din!
The Bais Din took 9 years to come to a decision and they ruled in favor of Reb Ben Zion...
They Ruled that only the Reb Ben Zion Camp can call themselves Bobov and they get all the Real Estate, but they have to give Reb Mordecha Dovid some 10 million dollars over 5 years (I may be off with a million or two, but whose counting).
Reb Mordcha Dovid can call himself Sanz-Bobov, Rupshitz-Bobov, 45th Bobov...
but not Bobov by itself!

When Reb Mordcha Dovid's guys heard this, they went thru the roof... because now all the handlers of the Rebbe will finally have to work for a living...
They weren't going to take this sitting down, so they decided to ignore the USA Bais Din that they chose themselves, and went to look for a Litvisher Bais Din in Yerushalyim... and they found one! Holy Moly!
They found Rav Moshe Sternbach, the anti-Chassidish, anti-Zionist but respected Litvisher Rav!
He wrote that the USA Bais Din's psak is a sham! And that both Bobovs' can call themselves Bobov, and that they should go bactk to the tables to make peace....
easier said than done!
They also had Rev Chaim Kanievsky co-sign the document but he added the following:
• Bobov 45 must listen to the Bais din’s ruling
• The Beit Din’s ruling should not, God forbid, be discredited by Bobov 45 hasidim or leaders.
• Bobov 45 can not challenge the beit din’s ruling in secular court.

So there you have it!

Reb Mordechai Dovid Ungar, Rebbe from Bobov 45 Wants Peace! Video

Maybe Moshiach will finally come!

Reb Mordechai Dovid Unger the "Bobover Rebbe" of 45th Street lost the Din Torah, and will no longer be called Bobover Rebbe. Inside reports suggest that he is ready to accept the Bais Din's decision and wants Shalom with his uncle, Reb Ben Zion Halberstam, the Bobover Rebbe from 48th Street!

The pressure is now on the Satmar Brothers to make peace, but I hear that they will sooner make peace with the Zionists before they talk to each other!
I'ts not in their DNA to make Shalom, since none of their ancestors going all the way up to Yerovom ben Navot, ever entertained making peace with any of the presumed enemies!
So if that ever happens, I will grab my wide gartle, and purple socks and run towards the guy on the donkey and yell at the top of my lungs "Moshiach, You are finally here!"

Finally the conclusion of the Bobov Psak Din

Reb Shlomo center, with his 2 sons, Reb Naftalche on left, Reb Benzion right

Reb Mordacha D Ungar left with Reb Benzion right, in better days

This fight is over 9 years old.

Reb Benzion Halberstam the son of Reb Shlomo Halberstam took his brother-in-law Reb Mordechai Dovid Unger to secular court, because R' Ungar called himself the "Bobover Rebbe".
Reb Benzion, felt, that since he was  the son of the Reb Shlomo, he had the exclusive right to call himself "Bobover Rebbe".

So here is a bit of history made very simple:
Reb Shlomo Halberstam, had two sons: Reb Naftalche who was the B'chor, and Reb Benzion.

When Reb Shlomo was niftar in the year, 2,000, naturally Reb Naftalche became Bobover Rebbe.
Reb Benzion the other son and brother, was called "Rav Hatzoer" "the younger Rebbe."

But then, just 5 years into his reign, Reb Naftalche passed on without any sons; he only had daughters.

His youngest son-in-law, Reb Mordechai Dovid Ungar, now claimed that he was next in line to be Bobover rebbe,
Reb Benzion said "no dice" "I'm the Rebbe, period!"

Followers of  both sides began to grab the Bobover properties, worth in the millions of dollars.
There were fist fights between the followers of both camps.

So finally, Reb Benzion took his brother-in-law to Bais Din, but Bais Din wasn't coming to any resolution's that was satisfactory to any of the parties, and Bais Din was dragging their feet, so they went to Secular Court, in violation of our Holy Torah in Parshas Mispatim!
But the Gentile Judge told the Holy Rabbis, that as Holy Rabbis they should go to Bais Din to resolve their differences!

So each side appointed one Rabbi and both of these Rabbis appointed an impartial third Rabbi to adjudicate the case!

After 9 years they concluded that Reb Benzion is the genuine Bobover Rebbe, and Reb Mordachi Dovid Unger can no longer call himself Bobover Rebbe, Reb Benzion keeps all the properties, just that Reb Benzion must give 6.5, million dollars to Ungar payable over 5 years.

Of course, Reb MD Ungar's camp is screaming "fowl" and says that the Bais Din was biased, even though he himself chose a Rabbi to advocate his position and that this Rabbi chose the third impartial Rabbi!

The following are some of the important highlights:

· Only R' Benzion Halberstam Shlita, the son of R' Shloime Halberstam Zatzal, can be called the "Bobov Ruv and Bobov Rebbe".

· R' Mordechai Dovid Unger and R' Shia Rubin may not be called "Bobov Ruv and Rebbe". This applies to the US and everywhere else in the world.

· It is the responsibility of Rabbis Unger and Rubin to make sure that they are not so called in any way shape or form. They must inform all newspapers and make sure that they are never so announced at weddings or anywhere else.

· It is further their responsibility to make sure that whenever someone refers to "Bobov", it is understand unequivocally to mean the faction of R' Halberstam.

· R' Unger and Rubin have the option to call themselves with an additional name of a town along with the name of Bobov, so long as the new town name comes before "Bobov". (For example they may choose to be called "Sanz Bobov" or "Rupshits Bobov". They also have the option to choose to call themselves "Bobov 45"). They must quickly choose their name. Once their choice is made, that name will become final and they may never change to a different name along with the name Bobov.

· The Unger faction may not call their Moisdos and Corporations by any of the names being currently used by Bobov. Including but not limited to: Kehal Sharei Zion, Yeshivah Bnei Zion, Bnos Zion, Mesivta Eits Chaim, Kollel Zichron Chaim, Ameidei Zion, Camps Shalva and Gila.
·
· The Unger faction must change their Emblems. And they may not use the same uniform for the girls as Bobov is currently using.

· EVERY SINGLE Bobov asset belongs to the faction of R' Halberstam. Including but not limited to the following buildings: New Beis Medrash, Old Beis medrash, Yeshiva buildings on 48 and 42nd streets, Mesivta buildings, Bnos Zion Buildings, Kerem Shloime Building, Mesivta camp in the Poconos, Camps Shalva, Kerem Shloime and Camp Gila.

· The Unger faction shall receive $6.2 million - to be paid out over a period of 5 years.

Crazy new "Chumra" ‘Oy’-glasses! Bobov bans ‘hip’ thick-framed glasses

Thou shalt not wear nerdy glasses!
An Orthodox Jewish school in Brooklyn has forbidden thick-framed retro glasses favored by the likes of Woody Allen.
“We are asking that everyone buy simple glasses,” reads a letter written in Yiddish that was recently issued to parents of students at Borough Park’s Bobover Yeshiva B’Nei Zion, which caters to members of the Bobov sect.
“What we have to commit ourselves to is we have to stand on top of this and not tolerate the new modernism.”
Students at the 48th Street school, which serves Grades 4 through 12, plus older rabbinical students, had been taking a shine to thick-framed and multicolored glasses.
“The good deed that accompanied the Jews in Egypt was that they didn’t change their names and clothes, and this same strength is still accompanying us and maintaining us in exile — in all generations,” explains the letter, which calls for traditional garb and was posted by the blog Failed Messiah.
School officials admit there’s no easy way to head off trends in specs, since styles fluctuate so much.
Still, the thick frames — often seen on celebs such as LeBron James and Justin Timberlake — “give the child a very coarse look,” the letter says.
“It doesn’t matter what age — a student cannot come to yeshiva with these glasses,” the letter reads.
Parents are asked to exchange the “immodest” frames and told that the expense should be viewed as an “educational boost.”
Lumiere Eyewear, a local optical shop, said it has already exchanged 30 pairs in just two weeks.
School officials recently descended on another local eyewear shop, MS Optical, to inspect its wares, an employee told The Post.
“They basically said these are the Hasidic ones — and those are not,” the employee said.
The store keeps its “acceptable” glasses — frameless, semi-rimless — in a separate display, far away from bolder styles.
Students — all wearing plain, wire-framed glasses — said they support the edict.
“What one kid does, another will copy. The school doesn’t want a domino effect,” said Nafle Frank. “Style is not a sin, but the culture is to stay away from new things and to keep them the way they were.”
He joked that the two Satmar grand rabbis — Aaron and Zalman Teitelbaum — have been wearing hipster glasses for the past 35 years.
“Now they look up to date,” he said.
A Brooklyn yeshiva now favors wire specs over thick frames like those worn by Woody Allen.
EYE FOR AN EYE: A Brooklyn yeshiva now favors wire specs over thick frames like those worn by Woody Allen.
