An investigation by the German newspaper Bild has uncovered the involvement of Gaza-based photographer Anas Zaid Fatiyeh in staging “humanitarian scenes” for the purpose of promoting Hamas propaganda.
Fatiyeh, whose photos and videos are published by international newspapers and news agencies, has been revealed as orchestrating carefully selected and staged photo ops designed to amplify the suffering in Gaza and sway international opinion against Israel.
According to the investigation, Fatiyeh presents himself as a “journalist” for Anadolu Agency, the Turkish state-run news agency, which is known for its support of Hamas.
One of the examples cited is a widely circulated image of hungry people waiting in line for food. However, the report claims that these individuals were indeed fed immediately afterwards, raising the question: Why didn’t Fatiyeh show the full story?
Additionally, Fatiyeh is politically active and has shared pro-Palestinian content on his social media channels. One of his posts includes a photo with the caption: “Free Palestine.”
In response to the investigation, several news agencies announced they would cease working with Fatiyeh, emphasizing the need to verify the objectivity of visual content before publication.
As of now, Fatiyeh has not responded to the allegations or provided clarification regarding the nature and context of the photos he distributed.
