Rabbonim supporting Rabbi Ilan Schachnow the Lakewood "Tzaddik" That was Charged with Raping a Child

Lakewood Chaplain Rabbi Ilan Schachnow Charged with Rape of Child Under 13, Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser and Rabbi Yisroel Bursztyn Join Other Rabbis Writing Letters of Support for Schachnow***
Ilan Schachnow, an Asbury Park Police chaplain and Lakewood resident, was arrested in early April of 2022 and charged with sexually assaulting a minor under the age of 13. According to the complaint, Schachnow repeatedly sexually abused a child under the age of 13 between the years of 2001 and 2010, when Schachnow was between the ages of 18 and 27. The charges carry a minimum sentence (outside of a plea) of 15 years.
Pretrial Services, in conducting its risk assessment recommended that due to the lengthy prison sentence Schachnow was facing he should be detained pretrial. The judge disagreed and ordered him released under house arrest. Between his arrest in 2022 and June of 2023 the house arrest was modified to allow the following conditions:
He is allowed to work between 9 AM and 7 PM at Pro Medical East in Lakewood

On Shabbos, under the supervision of Rabbi Shmuel Tendler, he is allowed to daven at Congregation Sons of Israel. Tendler took specific responsibility for Schachnow, according to court filings, to allow him to attend shul despite being under house arrest
He is allowed to attend the Presidential Estates shul (for context, many developments in Lakewood have a shul in the center of the development for the residents to use) for Shacharis, Mincha, and Maariv every day, and on Shabbos, under the supervision of either Rabbi Yaakov Lazewnik or Rabbi Shlomo Freundlich.
According to the release conditions filed by the court, Schachnow is ordered to live at a residence closer to Sons of Israel that seems to belong to his in-laws while out on house arrest, but generally lives in Presidential Estates.
After the filing of a superseding indictment in March, the prosecutors again petitioned for pretrial detention. In response, to bolster his case for continuing pretrial release, Schachnow submitted close to two dozen letters from rabbis and members of his family and community. Notable among the authors of these letters was Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser, renowned speaker and author in the Charedi community, and rabbi of Khal Bais Yitzchok in Flatbush. In recent years Rabbi Goldwasser moved to Lakewood and is the rav of Khal Yismach Moshe on Cory Court.
Rabbi Goldwasser holds himself forth as an expert on eating disorders as well, and in fact signed a Kol Koreh in 2015 urging members of the community to report sexual abuse to the authorities. Many signatories of that kol koreh have since been exposed for supporting abusers or alleged abusers in their communities, and now Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser joins their ranks.
Also notable among the letter writers was Rabbi Yisroel Bursztyn, one of the founding members of Lakewood Shomrim, and one of the founders of the National Chaplains Association.
The Rosh Yeshiva of Ohr Naftoli in New Windsor, Rabbi Moshe Silberberg, also wrote a letter for Schachnow.
Another letter was written by Rabbi Moshe Yosef Friedlander, the rav of Reb Shayaleh's Guesthouse in Kerestir. Kerestir has become very popular over the last decade, initially among Chassidim looking to visit the kever of Reb Shayale Kerestirer, but it is rapidly becoming the new Uman with planeloads of Frum Jews flying to Kerestir every year to visit the kever.
Rounding out this illustrious bunch of letter writers was a retired Asbury Park Police patrolman, Jeef Cadet.
Also among the letter writers were Miriam Wasserman, a secretary at Bnos Chaim Seminary in Lakewood, Hadassah Wasserman, a therapist in Denver, and Sandy Wasserman, an elementary school teacher at Hillel Yeshiva in Deal, all members of his in-laws' family.
The judge specifically cited the fact that 21 letters were submitted for Schachnow in his decision to modify the pretrial release terms because they demonstrated his connection to the community. This mattered because it addressed the flight risk concerns due to the potential in this case for a very heavy sentence.

How is Moshe Yosef related to Ezra “the Kapo” Friedlander?

Tendler is the only Modern Orthodox shul in Lakewood, previously headed by Rabbi Paul Z. Levovitz. Tendler's father was Menahel of Ner Yisroel Baltimore that holds the record for the most molesters of any yeshiva, many of them getting a start on plying their trade on younger bochurim in the dormitory. Tendler's brother in Sea Gate was the launderer of hush money from Margo to Kolko. He fled to Israel for years when he was exposed by journalists, returning when he was sure the corrupt Brooklyn DA's office wasn't interested in pursuing him. A Tendler uncle & 2 first cousins are molesters as DIN Is well aware, lol. 3 more Tendler cousins are very fierce advocates in defense of molesters.

Freundlich might be another Ner Yisroel Baltimore family where one of the sons became Open Orthodox after receiving semicha.

Goldwasser had to leave Brooklyn because only women came to his shul to listen to his babblings. He did a lot of research before moving as to which location will attract even more yentas because he's just not a magnet for men.

Bursztyn is from an "interesting" family & I'll leave it at that.

Silberberg started off in Scheinerman's Flatbush shul, in shutfus with him, before moving to Orange County. At least when in Brooklyn that yeshiva was a laughing stock with an eccentric bochur as one of the 4 co-roshei yeshiva & no enforcement on attendance. Scheinerman was part of Kolko cover up since the early 1980s.

Goldwasser was put in cherem for ignoring hazmonos after the alter Rosh Hashoichtim of pre-Churban Moscow living in Brooklyn discovered that Goldwasser had plagiarized his sefer.

Goldwasser claims with a straight face that he know nutting, nutting about any Din Torah against him.
