How much did Abraham pay Ephron for the Cave of Machpelah?

The Midrash says 400 silver shekels in weight.
Each maneh (a unit) = 100 shekels.

A kikar weighs 43.2 kilograms of silver.
400 maneh = 17,280 kilograms of silver.

Each kilogram = 32 ounces (in Troy measurement).
32 ounces × 17,280 kilograms = 552,960 ounces of silver.

The current value of silver (today) is $30.9 per ounce.
552,960 ounces × $30.9 =
$17,086,464 or 63,903,375 shekels.
