The Shin Bet recently thwarted an Iranian effort to smuggle a significant cache of advanced weaponry, including rockets, into Judea and Samaria for use in terror attacks targeting Israel.
During a coordinated operation with the Israel Defense Forces, the shipment—intended for terror operatives in the Jenin area—was intercepted. A separate site containing additional weapons smuggled by Iran was also uncovered. Details about the location of the shipment and the hidden cache remain undisclosed.
The seized arsenal included 40 high-grade Claymore-style explosive devices, 33 improvised Claymores, remote detonation systems, six RPG launchers, 24 RPG rounds, three 107mm rockets, two 60mm mortar launchers with 20 mortars, six M16 rifles, one M4 rifle, seven sniper rifles, and 37 handguns.
The operation linked the plot to Iran’s Unit 4000—part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ Intelligence Organization, led by Jawad Ghafari—and the IRGC Quds Force’s Unit 18840 in Syria, under Asghar Bakri of Unit 840. This reflects ongoing efforts by Iran to destabilize the region by arming terror cells in Judea and Samaria to target Israeli civilians and military personnel.
