Sarah Friedland wins Venice prize – then viciously attacks Israel

Her remarks are, of course, disgusting. But what’s so scary is the heavy applause and approval coming from the audience. Look at these well-dressed, sophisticated, educated people applauding the condemnation of Jews. These are not the stupid naïve protesters on our campuses and streets.

The 81st Venice International Film Festival witnessed Sarah Friedland's "Familiar Touch" win awards for Best Director, Best First Film, and Best Actress. During her acceptance speech for the Luigi de Laurentiis Prize, Friedland, the self-hating Jew, took the opportunity to make a political statement and voiced her support for Palestinians.

During her acceptance speech, she said, "As a Jewish American artist working in a time-based medium, I must note, I'm accepting this award on the 336th day of Israel's genocide in Gaza and 76th year of occupation. I believe it is our responsibility as filmmakers to use the institutional platforms through which we work to redress Israel's impunity on the global stage. I stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and their struggle for liberation."

International Human Rights Lawyer and CEO of the International Human Rights Forum, Arsen Ostrovsky, called her a "self-hating Jew" who "spout lies against Israel and essentially called for genocide of the Jewish state."

In Stunning Report: Kamala Harris’s Aides Are Unsure of Her Policy Positions

Not even campaign aides are sure of what Vice President Kamala Harris’s policy positions are, Axios reported Friday, fueling concerns that Harris is an empty political shell with intentions to do or say whatever is needed to get elected.
With only 60 days left until the presidential election, time is running out for Americans to learn about Harris’s ambiguous plans. She has only sat for one pre-recorded interview since joining the race seven weeks ago on July 21, 2024.
In those seven weeks, Harris allegedly changed her view, outright flip-flopped, or has an unknown position in nine areas:
  1. Banning plastic straws (Flip-flopped)
  2. mandate for only producing electric and hydrogen vehicles by 2035 (Unknown)
  3. Banning fracking (Flip-flopped)
  4. Gun confiscation through a buyback program (Allegedly no longer supports via anonymous campaign spokesperson)
  5. Decriminalizing illegally crossing the southern border (Allegedly no longer supports via anonymous campaign spokesperson)
  6. Reparations (Unknown)
  7. Building a border wall (Allegedly no longer supports via anonymous campaign spokesperson)
  8. A federal jobs guarantee (Allegedly no longer supports via anonymous campaign spokesperson)
  9. Medicare for All (Flip-flopped)
“Harris and her campaign haven’t provided many details explaining her policy shifts,” Axios admitted Friday. “Even some of her own staffers aren’t sure where she stands on a range of issues.”
Axios reportedly asked the Harris campaign six days in a row about her unknown policy positions before getting a “no comment” from aides.
Harris’s treatment of the media underscores her conundrum: Harris cannot powerfully campaign on policies to fix crime, inflation, and border security without undermining the Biden-Harris administration’s policies, but she must tout the administration’s policies to validate her record and candidacy.
CNN’s Dana Bash exposed Harris’s conundrum during her first pre-taped interview.

Harris owned the Biden-Harris administration’s economic record while she simultaneously blamed Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump for it. The contradiction was stark, producing an outcome that forced Harris to tout her administration’s policies to validate her candidacy all while she undermined her record and her candidacy.

Top DOJ Spokesman Admits that Trump Cases Are a ‘Perversion of Justice’ on Hidden Camera

The chief spokesman for the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Southern District of New York (SDNY) was caught tearing into Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and other prosecutors for carrying out a “perversion of justice” in targeting former President Donald Trump, hidden camera footage captured by an undercover journalist revealed.

Nicholas Biase, the public affairs director for the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York (SDNY), spilled his feelings about the liberal DA when speaking to an unidentified operative with podcaster Steven Crowder’s “Mug Club” on multiple occasions.

In one July 31 clip from what appears to be a bar, Biase said, “To be honest with you, I think the case is nonsense,” after Trump was convicted of 34 felonies for allegedly falsifying business records.

'The Authorities won't protect Jews'| Betar issues 'travel warning' for New York City

The Betar Organization has issued a warning for Jewish tourists not to travel to New York City due to mounting antisemitism in and around the city.

Betar, a 100-year-old international organization founded by Zeev Jabotinsky which has recently been reformed in the United States, wrote in its warning: "Due to rising violence and support for terrorism in NYC, Jewish visitors and tourists are urged not to come to NYC. It is not safe. Authorities will not protect Jews. Don't come to NYC until they remove the handcuffs from the NYPD and arrest and prosecute criminals."

“We issue this travel warning in pain as we say one of the largest cities in the world for Jews simply isn’t safe today. We urge Jews worldwide to avoid the area of NYC unless absolutely necessary as Jews are being targeted. If you wear visibly Jewish garb you are in danger as the NYPD has employed a hands-off policy for arresting Jew-haters. Worse, the DA doesn’t prosecute Jew-haters," a spokesman for Betar USA said.

"NYC clearly doesn’t care about safety and there are safer cities for Jews to visit than NYC. We will continue to train those Jews in NYC in self-defense but there’s no reason for tourists to put themselves in danger,” he added.

Michael Sinensky, interim executive director of Betar, USA said: “We issue a travel warning to NYC today in pain as we say one of the largest cities in the world for Jews simply isn’t safe today. We urge Jews worldwide to avoid the area of NYC unless absolutely necessary as Jews are being targeted and the NYPD has employed a hands-off policy for arresting Jewish haters. They aren’t prosecuted."

He noted: "I’m a lifelong New Yorker who was recently forced out as my wife was violently assaulted. NYC clearly doesn’t care about safety and Jews must speak up to ensure our communal safety. Simply crime isn’t prosecuted and quality of life continues to deteriorate. We urge Jewish tourists to avoid NYC.”

Antisemitic incidents have increased in New York City since the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023. The NYPD stated that an overall rise in hate crimes in 2024 has been fueled by antisemitic attacks. In every month since October 7, the tally of anti-Jewish incidents has been higher year over year. Jews remain the group most targeted in hate crimes nearly every month.

An August report by Tom DiNapoli, the New York State comptroller, found that antisemitic incidents made up 44% of all hate crimes in the state last year, and 88% of those motivated by religious bias.

Tucker Carlson’s Embrace of Holocaust Revisionism and Hitler Apologia Is a Dangerous Assault on Historical Truth

If you find yourself defending Adolf Hitler and demonizing Winston Churchill, you should seriously reconsider the path that led you there, so said distinguished journalist Bari Weiss in a hard-hitting piece that appeared on Thursday on The Free Press website.

Yet this is precisely the intellectual abyss that Tucker Carlson and his guest, pseudo-historian Darryl Cooper, plummeted into during a recent episode of Carlson’s podcast. Weiss writes that what unfolded wasn’t a reasoned debate, a challenge to controversial ideas, or even an exploration of lesser-known historical perspectives. Instead, it was a chilling display of Holocaust revisionism and pro-Nazi rhetoric that dishonors the memory of millions and insults the very fabric of historical truth.

Nate Silver Forecast Has Chance of Trump Winning at 61.5%, Harris at 38.3%

Statistician Nate Silver on Friday released his latest 2024 presidential election forecast, which shows former President Donald Trump at 61.5 percent and Vice President Kamala Harris at 38.3 percent.

The rise in Trump’s chances of 15.4 percent is a flip from Silver’s forecast on August 23, when Harris’s chances of winning were at 53.5 percent and Trump’s at 46.1 percent. Those numbers came right after the Democratic National Convention, when the vice president was still enjoying a mainstream media honeymoon.

A few weeks have passed since then, and Harris has not held a single press conference, opting for one sit-down interview with running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) on the Democrat-friendly network CNN.

Alan Dershowitz Leaves Democratic Party, Citing ‘Anti-Zionist’ DNC

Attorney Alan Dershowitz says he is leaving the Democratic Party after being “disgusted” by the recent Democratic National Convention, which he described as “anti-Zionist.”

During a recent radio interview with Zev Brenner, Dershowitz criticized the convention for giving legitimacy to anti-Israel speakers and anti-Israel protesters outside the convention in Chicago last month.

“It was the most anti-Jewish, anti-Israel, anti-Zionist convention I’ve experienced,” he said. “I was disgusted at the Democratic National Convention. Absolutely disgusted.”

“I am no longer a Democrat. I am an Independent,” he said, though he wouldn’t say who he plans to vote for in the November matchup between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris. He said he might not reveal who he plans to vote for until after November 1.

“I want to see how they deal with Iran. I want to encourage the current administration to support Israel,” he said.

Dershowitz, who previously faced criticism from his own party for defending Trump during his first impeachment trial, explained that “a lot of things” contributed to his decision to leave the party over time, including Harris not attending when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke before a joint session of Congress

Ahead of that address, more than 50 members of Congress said they would boycott or skip the address due to scheduling conflicts, including Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Senator Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) Former House speaker Nancy Pelosi was one of several members of Congress who chose to meet with Israeli citizens “whose families have suffered in the wake of the October 7th Hamas terror attack and kidnappings,” rather than attend the address. Pelosi told Politico Netanyahu’s invitation to speak before Congress was “inappropriate.”

But it was the behavior of several public figures — Ocasio-Cortez, Warren, Sanders, and Rev. Al Sharpton — during the Democratic convention in Chicago last month that sealed the deal on his decision.

“They had more anti-Jewish, anti-Zionist people who were speaking, starting with [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] – a miserable, anti-Zionist bigot,” Dershowitz said. “Then of course they had [Sen. Elizabeth] Warren, who is one of the most anti-Jewish people in the Senate. Then they had Bernie Sanders, one of the most anti-Jewish people in the Senate.

“By giving them platforms, what it says is that when AOC does call Israel a genocidal country and rails against it, she now has the imprimatur of the Democratic Party,” he said.

That, in combination with pro-Palestinian protesters outside the convention calling for the destruction of Israel, led him to believe “that’s not my party,” he said.

Facebook Oversight Board members blast Israel over Gaza: ‘Most criminal army in history’

Multiple members of Facebook parent Meta’s Oversight Board have exhibited a clear anti-Israel bias since the war with Hamas began last Oct. 7 – with one even referring to Israel as a “terrorist government” and “the most criminal army in history.”

At least four members of the 21-person advisory group – which sparked outrage Wednesday by determining the anti-Israel phrase “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” doesn’t constitute hate speech – have published views critical of the Jewish state.

One of the most vocal has been Tawakkol Karman, a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate who has referred to the deaths of civilians in Gaza as an “ethnic cleansing” and a “war of extermination.”

In a June 7 post on X, Karman celebrated the United Nations’ move to place Israel’s military on a global list of entities that have committed harm against children – known as its “list of shame.” Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad were also added.

“The United Nations puts Israel, its terrorist government, and its most criminal army in history on the list of shame. I applaud this decision, which was long overdue,” Karman wrote, according to a Google translation.

Chaverim of Rockland Helps Rescue Local Woman from Scammer’s Trap

In a fast and coordinated response, Chaverim of Rockland successfully intervened in a scam that targeted a local woman in our community today.

Earlier in the day, the victim received a phone call from an individual posing as a detective, claiming there was suspicious activity on her bank account. To make the scam appear legitimate, the scammers spoofed the Ramapo Police Department’s phone number and warned her that failure to comply would result in her arrest and frozen accounts.

In a state of panic, the woman took a taxi to the M&T Bank on Route 59, where she withdrew $5,000 from her account. Following the scammer’s instructions, she then proceeded to CVS at the corner of Grandview Avenue and Route 306 to purchase gift cards. However, the CVS teller, recognizing something was off, refused to sell her the gift cards as she did not have her ID. The woman called her husband to bring her ID and informed him she would return home to retrieve it.

After this conversation, her husband lost contact with her and, growing increasingly concerned, reached out to Chaverim for assistance. Simultaneously, the scammer, who was still on the phone with her, instructed her to cancel her taxi ride home, promising to send a new one to take her to a different store where she could buy the gift cards without needing an ID.

Upon receiving the call from the woman’s husband, Chaverim quickly dispatched its members, initiating a search across local stores known for selling gift cards. They also coordinated with Arrive Taxi Company to track her movements and deployed drones and camera units to review surveillance footage.

One of Chaverim’s members eventually spotted the woman exiting Sephora at the Nanuet Mall with a stack of gift cards in hand. By this time, she had already given the scammers $2,000 worth of card numbers. The member immediately approached her, explained that she was being scammed, and managed to recover the remaining $3,000 in gift cards before any further loss occurred. Though initially resistant due to fear of arrest, the woman was reassured and convinced of her safety.

Meanwhile, Chaverim’s Coordinator Yossi Margeratten had been working with the Ramapo Police Department to have Verizon ping her phone. However, because the woman was not considered in immediate danger, Verizon declined the request without a court order. Fortunately, before the court order could be obtained, the woman was successfully located.

We encourage the community to stay alert. If you encounter any suspicious activity, don’t hesitate to contact local authorities for assistance.

RFK Jr. Hits Candace Ovens for ‘Sickening’ Attack on the Lubavitcher Rebbe

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. late Wednesday tore into conservative commentator Candace Owens for her claims about the late Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Schneerson during a podcast debate with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, calling her characterization of the famed rabbi “sickening.”

“Candace Owens referred to what she termed ‘radical Judaism’ and characterized the iconic Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Schneerson, as someone who ‘preached Jewish supremacism and hatred of all non-Jews,'” Kennedy posted on X after the debate, conducted on the “Piers Morgan Unleashed” podcast.

Her words, said Kennedy, “are a sickening and manifestly inaccurate description of a revered holy man who was respected and beloved by people of all faiths.”

He noted that his father, the late Robert F. Kennedy, considered Schneerson a “spiritual mentor and sought his advice on diverse issues of morality and ethics.”

“Rabbi Schneerson preached a message of unadulterated love, tolerance, respect, and universal justice for all of humanity,” said Kennedy, adding that his father “once visited the Rebbe at 2 o’clock in the morning.”

“As Americans, we need to distance ourselves from the troubling rise in antisemitism,” said Kennedy. “We need unity in our country, not divisiveness. That’s what Rabbi Schneerson stood for.”
