Facing Charaidie Rebellion, Ministers Approve Local Curfews Instead of Lockdowns

Ministers on Sunday evening approved nightly curfews in some 40 cities with high infection numbers, instead of the previously planned full lockdown on a smaller number of towns — a plan that had sparked a threat of rebellion from some ultra-Orthodox mayors and a major political crisis with the ultra-Orthodox parties.
The curfews will be in effect every day between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Non-essential businesses will be closed during the curfew. Schools will be closed at all times.
The cabinet had been due to vote on a plan formulated by the government’s virus czar, Prof. Ronni Gamzu, to impose new lockdowns on 10 municipalities, including the Arab towns of Umm al-Fahm, Tira and Kfar Qassem, and the Haredi towns of Elad, Bnei Brak, Beitar Illit and Emmanuel. Israel this weekend passed 1,000 COVID-19 fatalities.
But facing a withering backlash by Haredi leaders, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier in the day called off the special cabinet meeting on the lockdowns and held a meeting with the heads of the two major ultra-Orthodox political parties, Housing Minister Yaakov Litzman of United Torah Judaism and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri of Shas, to hammer out a new policy toward so-called “red” municipalities — those with the highest infection rates — as he seeks to assuage rising anger in the Haredi street.
Netanyahu’s about-face came after four Haredi mayors published an unprecedented open letter earlier Sunday accusing him of “trampling” their communities and “turning us into disease vectors and enemies of the people.”

Tamar Sheetrit 40 Killed in Car Accident Near Netivot

A 40-year-old Chareidi woman from Netivot was killed in a devastating car accident shortly after midnight on Motzei Shabbos. The woman’s husband and teenaged daughter were moderately injured in the accident and the driver of the other vehicle, a Chareidi man in his 60s, was seriously injured.
The head-on collision near Netivot occurred between a commercial vehicle and a private car on Highway 293 near Netivot. When emergency responders arrived, they were forced to declare the mother’s death at the scene of the accident.
The nifteres was later identified as Tamar Sheetrit, a’h, 40, a mother of three. She was known in her community as a ba’ales chessed who held weddings in her home for needy couples. Her husband, R’ Meir Sheetrit, became aware of the couples in need through his work in the municipal marriage department in Ofakim as well as his earlier work as the hospital Rav of Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon.
“It was a very serious accident,” an MDA paramedic said. “We saw two crushed vehicles on the road. In one vehicle there were three family members. A woman about 40 was trapped in the seat next to the driver. She wasn’t breathing and had no pulse and had multi-system injuries. Within a short amount of time we were forced to declare her death.”
“A girl around 16 was trapped in the back seat and with the assistance of firefighters, she was extricated from the car while fully conscious, with wounds on her head and limbs. The driver of the car, a man around 40, exited the vehicle on his own, with wounds on his limbs.”
The driver of the commercial vehicle, in his 60s and also Chareidi, was seriously injured. The wounded victims were treated at the scene and evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva.
The circumstances of the accident are unclear. Israel Police have opened an investigation.

Guy Goes on a Date And She Grills Him on What He is Learning

The following Q&A appeared in FJJ (Flatbush Jewish Journal this past week, titled "Ask the Flatbush Shadchan."

A guy is on a "shidduch" date, and instead of the girl asking him if he is going to learn his entire life, or if he is ever going to work for a living, she wants to know what "sugye" he is learning and why he is learning that particular "sugye."
Am I missing something?

Marriage Partners Or Chavrusas

DEAR MRS. ROSE,
Our son just went out with his first girl. Naturally, we did our homework and everything checked out to our satisfaction. We would be delighted if this would be his “bashert.” So what’s the issue? Here goes… he went out on a second date after a very promising first date. The girl spent most of the date questioning him about his learning. What he is learning, where, (what sugya), why he is learning that particular inyan etc. It was obvious from the questions she asked that she did not have any understanding, not even elementary knowledge about “learning”. My son felt that there was no point in him being grilled by someone who doesn’t really “chap the inyan” It’s almost insulting! Even if she would have “chapped the inyan”, isn’t she overstepping her boundaries? It was only a second date, our son didn’t grill her about her schooling (not to say that he would have even begun to know what to ask her about her OT, PT, special ed choices). We have heard from other parents of boys in shidduchim that they have encountered similar scenarios. Are they being taught to ask these questions in Seminary? Do you think this makes any sense?
Confused Mother of An Up and Coming Star Learner Just Looking for A Wife

DEAR CONFUSED MOTHER,
Whoa! What an experience your son must have had!
Usually, the zooming- in question is about “Hashkafos”. Usually discussed at about date 3 to 4, usually initiated by the boy. This is a new one on me! I really think you’ve picked out a one in a million girl. Clearly, dating is about gradually getting to know a person’s qualities, strengths, direction in life etc. It should be a pleasant experience, not an interview and certainly not an interrogation. When people are put on the spot they tend to shut down and feel overwhelmed and negative feelings surface. Our seminaries teach respect for learning, love of learning, kovod habrios. They are not preparing our girls to be “chavrusas”. Most boys are looking for a wife, not a chavrusa and certainly not a “mashgiach”. This doesn’t make any sense to me, but given that the first date seemed to be great, there is potential here. I would love to be a fly on the wall and be able to see what REALLY transpired on the date. Certainly, do not drop the girl based on that scenario, (unless he didn’t pass her interrogation, and she needs something else, and therefore she’ll say no). Keep me posted, would love to hear how this plays itself out. At the end of the day, Bashert will prevail!

Dubai official: Hamas Can Go to Hell

A high ranking official in the Dubai police department said on Tuesday that the UAE's newly brokered peace deal with Israel was a positive step for "for regional stability and security" and that Hamas can "go to hell."
"Israel never threatened us. [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan has. Iran is threatening us," Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, deputy chief of the Dubai police, told Kuwaiti media outlet Diwan al-Mullah.
"The Turkish leader's claims that he was the champion of the Palestinians is a sham," he continued.
Tamim also questioned why it was necessary for a government to receive approval from the Palestinians before signing a peace treaty with Israel.
"Is it conceivable that the decision of heads of state whether or not to sign an agreement with a certain country depends on the approval [of the head of the Palestinian Authority] Mahmoud Abbas?" Tamim asked during the interview.
Is it conceivable that a president or a Prime Minister is basing his [decision] on the advice of [Palestinian Authority President] Mahmoud Abbas? Abbas himself is unable to make a decision to resolve the [Palestinian] problem," he continued.
"If Abbas had been a worthy leader, he would have solved the Palestinian problem or would have already resigned. How can we expect public opinion in the Gulf states to favor the Palestinians when they pray in their mosques for the destruction of ... countries?"
"Ismail Haniyeh, when you are hostile to Saudi Arabia and open your arms to Iran, who do you think you are? Go to Iran and let them help you. Go to hell!" he said, addressing directly the leader of the terrorist group Hamas.
According to the lieutenant, Iran has three choices: it can die economically, or it can sign a peace agreement with Israel and coexist with the region.
"The third option is the fall of the mullahs' regime," he concluded.

The Rat in Israeli Public Life

{Reposted from Israel HaYom}
Over the past several weeks, Israelis have been riveted by a new crime drama called “Meniac” or “rat” whose central character is an investigator in Police Investigations Division of the Justice Ministry, charged with investigating crooked cops. The plot surrounds the main character’s shattering discovery of deeply rooted corruption at all levels of the police and state prosecution.
If the show had aired 15 years ago, it probably would have flopped. But over the past several years, public faith in the legal system has plummeted. Last November Globes newspaper published a poll showing that 72% of Israelis believe police and state prosecutors engage in selective law enforcement. In this climate, Meniac’s success was all but assured.
Almost every day, events occur that reinforce the public’s view that justice in Israel is not blind. Even worse, in Israel’s politicized justice system judges, prosecutors and police investigators have unchecked powers the likes of which no legal system in any other democracy ever possessed.

Judge Orders Detroit Police Not to Use Batons, Tear Gas Against Protesters for Two Weeks

It's all over, folks.... if Police can no longer protect themselves, especially in the "murder city" then pack your bags because this is coming to a city near you very very fast!
A federal judge in Detroit has ordered the city’s police not to use batons, tear gas, shields, chokeholds, rubber bullets, sound cannons, or any other type of non-lethal force against protesters for the next two weeks.
The late Friday ruling granted a temporary restraining order to the activist group Detroit Will Breathe, which sued the city on Monday, claiming that excessive police force infringed upon their protesters’ First Amendment rights, the Detroit Free Press reported.
U.S. District Court Judge Laurie Michelson’s order stops police from using any type of force during protests without “probable cause.”
“For a short period, we know that the police will not be able to use the brutal tactics they have in the past against peaceful protesters without violating a court order,” said Jack Schulz, who filed the order on behalf of the group.
But Detroit Police Chief James Craig said the police have not used force against peaceful protesters.
“We’re going to continue to do our jobs the way we’ve done it,” he said. “We respect peaceful protesters. We understand the judge’s order and we’ll make sure the protesters understand if there’s any aggression or violation of law, they will get ample notice like we’ve done in the past.”
The lawsuit claimed that some of the officers’ use of force had left some protesters hospitalized.
The department is investigating about two dozen complaints against police officers, including one about a police officer who allegedly hit three photojournalists with rubber bullets and was charged with felony assault, the Detroit News reported.
Officers are also banned from tying zip ties to the point of causing injury or arresting lots of protesters without probable cause.
The Detroit Board of Police Commissioners on Wednesday passed guidelines that prohibit officers from using chokeholds and requires the board to intervene if another officer uses excessive force.
Craig, however, claimed that the police had not used chokeholds against protesters.
“If someone is resisting arrest, or trying to attack our officers, we will use the force that’s both reasonable and necessary to overcome the resistance,” he told the Detroit News. “We don’t want the protesters injured, and we don’t want officers injured, either.”

Sleazy New York Times Up To Dirty Tricks!

by Michael Goodwin
A former colleague at The New York Times once explained why he kept reading the paper even though he no longer trusted it: “I want to see what they’re up to.”
What they’re up to now is staggering. Not content with four years of biased coverage of President Trump, the Times is plunging head first into new depths of partisanship and deceit.
Just when you thought its dirty tricks couldn’t get any dirtier, it proves you wrong. A few samples from last week tell the tale.
A headline on Monday’s top front-page story said Trump “insults” the mayor of Portland while “Biden Calls His Rival Reckless.’’ Even-handed, right?
Another front-page story that day about Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin gratuitously mentioned that Mnuchin’s “liberal father said he was appalled by his son’s politics.”
Inside, reporter Michael Schmidt, one of the paper’s errand boys for the deep state, alleged the Justice Department secretly “kept investigators from completing an examination of President Trump’s decades-long personal and business ties to Russia.”
Schmidt shared a Pulitzer for his coverage of the Russia hysteria. In fact, the Times coverage largely created that hysteria — and was proven to be fundamentally misleading because there was no collusion or obstruction. Yet snowballs have better odds in hell than the possibility the Times will confess its errors.
But Schmidt hasn’t given up on Russia, Russia, Russia. Naturally, Monday’s article, excerpted from his book, uses only anonymous sources.
The Times used to strictly limit anonymous sources. Now they are the only sources in virtually every “scoop” involving Trump.
Within hours, Schmidt’s claims were shot down by Andrew Weissmann, the lead prosecutor on special counsel Robert Mueller’s team. The Times ignored Weissmann’s pushback. It didn’t fit their narrative.

Israelis Swelter In Hottest Weather In 100 Years, 19-Yr.-Old Dies

Israelis baked in the hottest heat ever recorded on Friday, the hottest in at least 100 years, with the temperature in Jerusalem an unprecedented 109°F (42.8°C) and 120°F (48.9°C) in Eilat.
Friday’s record in Jerusalem surpassed Thursday’s record of 107º F ( 42º C), the hottest since June 1942.
The temperatures dropped slightly over Shabbos but remained above seasonal averages and the same is expected for Sunday and Monday.
Unfortunately, the heat is expected to spike again on Thursday.
Tragically, a 19-year-old IDF soldier, Ariel Tzafrir, died after collapsing at a party at the Pura Nature Reserve in Israel’s south on Friday. His death was attributed to a combination of alcohol and drugs and the intense heat.
An investigation has been opened into Tzafrir’s death, with others at the party suspected of negligence in failing to call the police or MDA when he collapsed, instead placing him in a car to let him rest. Israel Police arrested four people for organizing the illegal rave and detained four others.
Magen David Adom treated over 1,000 Israelis for heatstroke and dehydration over the week, with two Israelis evacuated to hospitals in critical condition due to heatstroke.
There were numerous reports of power outages across Israel on Friday due to the increased electrical consumption as a result of the heatwave.

Trumps Keeps Winning: Serbia To Relocate Embassy To Jerusalem, Kosovo To Recognize Israel

It's amazing that there are Jews out there that would still vote for the DemocRATS!
How much hate do these Jews have for the best friend the Jews ever had in the white house? What did he do to them that they hate him so?

President Donald Trump announced Friday that Serbia and Kosovo have agreed to normalize economic ties as part of U.S.-brokered talks that include Belgrade moving its Israeli embassy to Jerusalem, and mutual recognition between Israel and Kosovo.
After two days of meetings with Trump administration officials, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo’s Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti agreed to cooperate on a range of economic fronts to attract investment and create jobs. The announcement provided Trump with a diplomatic win ahead of the November presidential election and furthers his administration’s push to improve Israel’s international standing.
“I’m pleased to announce a truly historic commitment,” Trump said in the Oval Office, standing alongside the two leaders. “Serbia and Kosovo have each committed to economic normalization.”
“After a violent and tragic history and years of failed negotiations, my administration proposed a new way of bridging the divide. By focusing on job creation and economic growth, the two countries were able to reach a major breakthrough,” the president said.
Trump said Serbia has committed to open a commercial office in Jerusalem this month and move its embassy there in July.

Professor That Lied about being Black Is Really a Kansas City Jew

I had a good laugh reading about this "Black" professor.
In these scary times coming across a story that is bizarre, is my way of getting away from real life and at least for a couple of minutes getting entertained.
But reading the following article I found myself thinking.....Here we have a very academically brilliant lady living her life as a lie, and would probably have been a great professor if she led a truthful life.... and so I am wondering, what possessed her to want to want to live her life as a "black?" Her response was that she has "mental issues."
But I think that her lying life is no different than the life of many of our politicians.... like for example ... Joe Biden .... who couldn't make it as president years ago because of his plagiarism, because of his constant lies to the point that people no longer knew who he really was and what he really thought.
The difference between a professor living her life as a lie, is different than a politician such as Biden living a lying life....because the later is very dangerous to the country and the free world, whereas a professoring claiming that she is black and teaches black studies harms no one...
But it is a reflection of the times that people can climb academic circles to the highest level to the point of becoming the coveted profession, of a professor, and climb the highest political echelons to the point of running for the highest and most powerful office of the United States and yet be a pathological liar.
And what is amazing.. is that everyone knows he is a liar and knows that he has  done absolutely nothing in 42 years being in government and yet he is a contender .... no one knows who he really is and yet millions will cast their vote to this great pretender... You must watch the clip below ....

At least the professor did tshevua in Chodesh Elul and told the world that she is a liar.

A college professor in the United States admitted to lying about being black and said she is in fact a Jewish woman from Kansas City.

Biden Meets Vicious Anti-Semite Farrakhan Supporter .....

Former New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind, a Democrat who is a leader in Brooklyn's Jewish community, slammed his party's presidential nominee Joe Biden for choosing to meet with Jacob Blake Sr., citing reported anti-Semitic comments and racist comments about White people.
placeholder
In his opening remarks on "Tucker Carlson Tonight," host Tucker Carlson said that Blake Sr., whose son was shot several times by police in Wisconsin, once asserted that "I'm with [Louis] Farrakhan 100%", posted a picture of Jesus Christ in an offensive setting -- and according to Carlson has referred to White people as "crackers" and African American supporters of President Trump as "coons."
The Washington Times also reported the existence of the social media posts.
In response, Hikind called Biden's meeting with Blake Sr. "pathetic."
"It is hypocrisy, it's a double standard and people need to recognize that. It is just beyond comprehension. Someone who follows Farrakhan, the number one anti-Semite in this country, someone who preaches hate for the Jewish people... and Blake is a follower of Louis Farrakhan spreading his hate on social media to millions of people."
"So how in God's name does the former vice president go and meet with this individual and praise this individual?"
Hikind called on fellow Democrats to "wake up" and see that members of their party are "endangering this country."
"People are afraid and people in my community asked me, is there a future in America? This is what -- this is where we are today. Is there a future in America? This the greatest country in the world. We are not perfect, no one is perfect and no country is perfect. But this is the greatest country in the world," he said, adding that while still a registered Democrat, he is "ashamed of the Democratic Party."
"It is a betrayal of all the values that America is all about," said Hikind.
Later, Carlson asked Hikind why Biden wasn't stopped from meeting with Blake Sr.
"It's simple. They are cowards and afraid of upsetting the Democratic Party and the radical left," he responded.
"Isn't it strange that Bernie Sanders and Tlaib and Omar -- isn't it funny how quiet they are?" Hikind continued.
Carlson remarked that it is questionable that the mainstream media didn't bring up the topic of Blake Sr.'s comments, but asked rhetorically whether they would do the same if Trump was to ever meet with a white supremacist.

Rabbi Natanel Shriki Will be Conditionally Released After Being Arrested for Groping Ladies

Police on Thursday asked the Beersheba Magistrate’s Court to release under restrictive conditions prominent Netivot Rabbi Netanel Shriki, accused of groping three women, along with his assistant Ariel Moshe.
Shriki was arrested Monday night after two women filed police complaints claiming he had groped them during counseling sessions. A third woman came forward to file a complaint on Tuesday, after his name was publicized.
Moshe was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of obstruction of justice.
Shriki’s arrest was extended by the court until Thursday. When remanding him, the court had said there was reasonable suspicion Shriki could be a “danger” to the complainants and might attempt to obstruct the investigation.
Shriki is a well-known figure in Netivot and among Likud leaders.
The first complaint against Shriki was filed with Beersheba police last Thursday by a woman who had gone to seek his counsel after she and her husband could not conceive a child.
According to her police complaint, during the meeting he asked her to lift her shirt and bra so he could examine her. The woman, a physician, said she didn’t understand why he needed to examine her. He then touched her breast and stomach. She said he told her he understood why her husband loved her and said her breasts were perfect.
She told officers she felt nausea and “unbearable humiliation” from the incident.
After seeing the complaint reported on the news — with the rabbi’s name still withheld — a second woman came forward and filed a complaint against him. The second woman’s complaint told a similar story of the rabbi asking her to remove her shirt during a consultation.
The woman told officers she knew of at least two others who had been subjected to inappropriate behavior by the rabbi.
After his name was made public on Tuesday, the third woman came forward.
Shriki’s attorney Zion Amir said Tuesday that the rabbi “completely, absolutely denies these claims… We have full confidence in his claim that he’s innocent.”
An attorney for the first complainant, Suzie Arania, praised the police for “treating the complaint with utmost seriousness and investigating the case fully. The women are cooperating fully with the investigators in order to enable the truth to come out about [Shriki’s] behavior. From their testimony, it appears we’re seeing similar acts, a pattern,” she told Channel 12.
In asking for the court’s permission to publicize the rabbi’s name earlier this week, a police representative said that “at this point in the case it appears that there were still more incidents, and publicity could prompt additional women to complain who had feared to do so beforehand.”

Frum Newspapers in Israel Call for Virus Czar’s Resignation Over Rebuke of Reb Chaim Kanievski

Ultra-Orthodox newspapers on Thursday condemned Israel’s coronavirus czar Ronni Gamzu and called for his ouster, after he denounced a prominent rabbi who reportedly told yeshiva students not to get tested for the disease.
Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, considered among the most important leaders of the non-Hasidic branch of ultra-Orthodox Jewry in Israel, expressed concern that the testing process would take students away from their studies and that positive results would require those who came in contact with the patient to quarantine, further disrupting yeshiva life, according to the Kikar HaShabat website.
He gave similar reasons a day earlier when he told yeshiva administrators not to quarantine students who are exposed to virus carriers, as is required under Health Ministry regulations aimed at curbing the ongoing major outbreak of the coronavirus.
Gamzu said in response that Kanievsky’s statements “endanger the ultra-Orthodox public.”
The Yated Neeman daily, which is affiliated with the United Torah Judaism party, on Thursday seethed over Gamzu’s pushback.
“Rabbis and public figures lodged a furious protest against Prof. Ronni Gamzu, who opened his mouth against… [Kanievsky]. There is serious public indignation among the Haredi comment over the underhanded comment against Torah authority,” the report said.
“This follows the complete distrust in the actions of the official who is supposed to manage the fight against the virus and his ‘traffic light’ plan, due to his misguided thinking that does not reflect the reality on the ground, and the calculated games… which mostly harm the Haredi public.”

Trump Sanctions Top ICC Prosecutor Who Is Prosecuting Israel & the US

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday slapped sanctions on the top prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda, AFP reports.

The economic sanctions against Bensouda and another senior ICC official, Phakiso Mochochoko, come after earlier visa bans on Bensouda and others failed to head off the court's war crimes probe into US military personnel in Afghanistan.

"Today we take the next step, because the ICC continues to target Americans, sadly," Pompeo said.

Parts of a Royal Structure from the time of the First Bais Ha'Mikdash Discovered

Who was privileged to live in the monumental structure possessing a breathtaking view of the City of David and the Temple, which was uncovered in an archeological excavation on the Armon Hanatziv (Commissioner's Palace, also known as Governor's House) Promenade?

Was it one of the Kings of Judah, or was it perhaps a Jerusalemite family of nobility and wealth during the First Temple period?

A rare, impressive, and very special collection of several dozen adorned architectural stone artifacts, which together were part of a magnificent structure, was discovered in the Antiquities Authority's excavations in preparation for the establishment of a visitor center on the promenade, at the site where the home of artist Shaul Schatz once stood. The excavations were funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Jerusalem Municipality and the Ir David Foundation (Elad).

The findings were unveiled to the public today, Thursday, at a festive event in the City of David in the Jerusalem Walls National Park, attended by Minister of Culture, Hili Tropper, Archaeologist from the Jerusalem region of the Israel Antiquities Authority, Dr. Yuval Baruch, and Chairman of the Ir David Foundation, David Be’eri. The findings will be on display in an exhibition at the City of David over the next few days, and an account of their significance will be given online at the Megalim Conference, to be held this coming Tuesday on the City of David website.
