Why are the Majority of Chareidim Ignoring the Washington Achdus March?

Reprinted from the Rationalist Judaism Blog

We are living in grave and momentous times in the history of our nation. The largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust took place. 240 hostages are held in Gaza. Hamas threatens the long-term survival of the Jewish State - not directly, but because if Hamas is not defeated, Jews will not feel that Israel is a safe place to live, and our enemies all around will be emboldened.

We also, for the first time in over two thousand years, have our own army working to rescue the hostages and defeat our enemies. In order for that operation to be successful, we need international support, particularly from the US. We need to counter the many hundreds of thousands of people who have been rallying against Israel. And so today, there is a March for Israel in Washington DC. There have been rallies before - for Soviet Jewry, for other important causes. This one is for the safety, indeed the continued existence, of Israel.

Who is going to the rally?

Jews from almost all walks of life, along with non-Jewish friends of Israel. Schools and shuls and communities. People are flying in from all over the US. Rav Hershel Schachter issued an urgent appeal for everyone to go. He pointed out that when he was in yeshivah, every time there was a war in Israel, they would all go and rally in Washington or at the UN. Accordingly, Yeshiva University and Stern College cancelled classes and thousands of students are going.

And who is not going to this tremendously important event for the Jewish People?

The American charedi/ chassidic/ yeshiva community.!

Don’t get me wrong. There are many people who are socially/ culturally part of the American charedi yeshiva community that are going. But it’s only those who are on the more “worldly/modern” side of it. It’s grassroots, not based on rabbinic directives from the top. The yeshivos are not going (with some rare exceptions, such as Chafetz Chaim); the hardcore yeshivish and chassidic community is not going; and the rabbinic leadership is not urging people to go.

The lay leadership of the Agudah is convinced of the importance of the march, but the rabbinic leadership is not enthusiastic. The Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah agreed to encourage participation, but their support has been tepid and apparently insincere.

There was a Kol Korei urging people to davven yesterday, but not to join the march today. The only one of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah who gave an impassioned speech is Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin, who said that it is “chazzer treif” to go to the march. Agudah Rabbonim are not urging their shuls to go.

In Lakewood, according to my sources there, there are some buses going. But the enormous yeshiva network is not going. And those who read about events in the Yated or HaModia may not even be aware of the event. In Monsey, it’s business as usual, with most people feeling no emotional connection. The number of people going, as one friend in Monsey put it, is less than the number of people who would go to Montreal to attend a wedding.

Why aren’t they going?

The standard professed reason is that everything is in Hashem’s hands. Accordingly, our greatest power is in Torah and tefilla rather than rallies and marches.

DIN"s Take on the war...

Today is November 13, and as of this writing DIN has had 129,000 "hits" this month alone according to Google Analytics, and according to Google, people stay on my page for an average of 5 minutes, which is quite an accomplishment as the average reader on any News Site spends 8 minutes.  This means that I have B"H quite a following, so I know I must be doing something right. I know people are hungry for the truth and so I try my best to make sure not to disappoint. I admit I am wrong on some issues, and I actually hope that I am wrong about many of my opinions, unfortunately most of the time this is not the case.

My readers have told me that I "think out of the box," but I don't necessarily agree, I think that all I do is write what is common sense. Today we live in times that if you have "common sense" then you are "thinking out of the box."

Be that as it may, I do have a strong opinion that I haven't heard yet heard from anyone, about why the Ribono Shel Oilom  allowed this great tragedy, Oct 7, to happen.

I don't pretend to know as no one really knows but I do have a theory which I believe is 100% correct.

Palestinians Shut Streets of Austin TX

Palestinian demonstrators in Austin, Texas, rode horses, let of smoke flares and waved flags as they called for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, footage from the protest shows.

An estimated 10,000 people took to the streets of the Texas capital on Sunday, chanting phrases including "occupation is a crime" and "Palestine will never die." Placards held by protestors called for an end to U.S. aid to Israel and claimed that "Hamas is the excuse."

Rav Zalman Leib Teitelbaum of Satmar Slams Neturei Karta for Marching with Murderers

In a recent drasha, Rav Zalman Leib Teitelbaum of Satmar slammed the so-called Neturei Karta, Jews dressed up as Chassidim who go to march shoulder to shoulder with terrorists in protest against the State of Israel, claiming that they are perpetuating a shitah of those who are against the secular medinas Yisroel.

The rebbe sharply criticized the radical group, stating, “They move around the world shamelessly, supporting acts of violence. They walk with a shtreimel and bekeshe, shouting together with Israel’s enemies and murderers.

Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin Disparages Jewish "Achdus" While Jewish Blood is Still Spilling on the Streets

Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin, Rosh Yeshiva of Telz and Lakewood Mesivta, member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, and author of about 80 seforim on Shas and Tanach gave a drasha and he said at around 27 minutes, that "the whole idea of going to the Washington Rally is treif like chazer. It’s not going to help, it’s going to make it worse – and it destroys the entire purpose of why Hashem brought this tzara on klal yisrael. As it’s exactly the opposite of what Hashem wants from us."

DIN:  See photo below when American Rabbanim went to the White House during WW2 to Demonstrate. Was this also "chazir trief?" So now "achdus" is "chazir treif?"
"It's not going to help?" It's going to help us in Israel knowing that our brothers and sisters are supporting us. Hashem wants Jews to go out yes daven but also to show the US government that we are backing our brethren in Israel while the majority of goyim are protesting in behalf of the barbarians. It's very important ! "its the opposite of Hashem wants from us?"  You know that Hashem doesn't want "protests?' When did Hashem tell you that? When and where?

"The hate of the non-Jews is unprecedented across the world and every gov’t – it’s going to become extremely dangerous outside Eretz Yisroel, (quoting
"רבי יהונתן אייבשיץ / יערות דבש  but in Eretz Yisroel we have the extra special shemirah from Hashe:

DIN: I agree it's "going to become extremely dangerous outside Eretz Yisrael, we don't need a "yaarois Devash" to tell us that, which is precisely why the Jews must come out and protest!

"Rachmana Latzlan, the demonstrations are counter-productive, the Arabs, Muslims and non-Jews are going to counter demonstrate, and they have much more people then us, and their malice and cruelty, it’s opening up a tremendous sakana gedolah. It’s going to antagonize all the colleges, non-Jews, and the Muslims."

DIN: The demonstrations are actually not "counter-productive" the protests for freeing the soviet Jews was actually very productive putting their plight on the first page of the New York Times. In fact R' Moshe Feinstein z"l was initially against the protest but then retracted when he saw that protests were in fact forcing the Soviet Union to allow the Jews to emigrate.

"These rally’s should stop, and we should not go to these places. We do not belong in this places. They can incite the non-Jews around us. Chas v’shalom to think that this is what Hashem wants from us

We have to be careful and not go there. It’s not our salvation."

DIN: "they can incite?" Hellloooooow? are you even home? Do you know what's going on? A protest will "incite"
What "protest" incited the three crusades? What "protest" incited the Spanish inquisition? What "protest" incited Chmelnitsky to murder hundreds of thousands of Jews? What "protest" made the Nazis murder 6 million Jews?"  So naive ..and you rabbi doesn't know what Hashem wants!

Rabbis at woke colleges describe ‘unnerving’ antisemitism as campuses become hotbeds of hate

Haskelevich, the Chabad rabbi at UPenn, described the events on his campus since Oct. 7 as disturbing and unnerving

Rabbi Haskelvich was recently recorded in a viral video helping a student put on tefillin, or leather straps containing sections of the Torah for praying, while a group of pro-Palestinian students marched past shouting “Palestine will be free from the river to the sea.”

Thousands of rabbis gathered Sunday in Brooklyn for its famous annual Chabad event — including hundreds on the front lines at some of the wokest, rabidly antisemitic campuses in the nation.

Several rabbis who attended the photogenic event in Crown Heights and helm Jewish centers at liberal US colleges described to The Post how their campuses have been transformed into dangerous hotbeds of hate since the Hamas slaughter in Israel on Oct. 7.

180,000+ March In France Against Antisemitism

More than 180,000 people across France, including 100,000 in Paris, marched peacefully on Sunday to protest against rising antisemitism in the wake of Israel’s ongoing war against Hamas in Gaza.

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, representatives of several parties on the left, conservatives and centrists of President Emmanuel Macron’s party as well as far-right leader Marine Le Pen attended Sunday’s march in the French capital amid tight security. Macron did not attend, but expressed his support for the protest and called on citizens to rise up against “the unbearable resurgence of unbridled antisemitism.”

However, the leader of the far-left France Unbowed party, Jean-Luc Melenchon, stayed away from the march, saying last week on X, formerly Twitter, that the march would be a meeting of “friends of unconditional support for the massacre” in Gaza.

The interior ministry said at least 182,000 people marched in several in French cities in response to the call launched by the leaders of the parliament’s upper and lower houses. No major incident has been reported, it said.

Paris authorities deployed 3,000 police troops along the route of the protest called by the leaders of the Senate and parliament’s lower house, the National Assembly, amid an alarming increase in anti-Jewish acts in France since the start of Israel’s war against Hamas after its Oct. 7 surprise attack on Israel.

IDF Bedouin Soldiers Threaten Hamas

A video of Bedouin IDF soldiers threatening Hamas recently went viral on Israeli social media.

The Bedouin community in southern Israel suffered grievous losses in the Hamas assault on Israel, with 21 Bedouins murdered by Hamas or killed by rockets launched from Gaza. Six Bedouins were abducted to Gaza.

The video shows a Bedouin brigade with their guns ready to enter Gaza. Their commander asks them: “You’re with me? And they respond: “Until death!”

The commander then issued a message to Hamas, saying: “Twenty-seven days ago, Hamas terrorists came here and murdered babies and women – actions forbidden by religious law.”

“We’re on the way to you – to kill you one by one. Ya Hamas – prepare yourselves – remain in your tunnels – hide there like animals. We’re coming to you – to cause your mothers to cry over you.”

“You want to be a martyr? Fine by me -you’ll become a martyr through my hands. You understand?”

Israeli Troops Give Fuel To Shifa Hospital, But Hamas Blocks The Delivery [VIDEO]

The IDF said Sunday that its forces delivered 300 liters of urgently needed fuel for medical use at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, but that Hamas Health Minister Yosef Abu Rish blocked hospital officials from getting it.

The IDF published footage of troops placing the fuel at a predesignated drop spot from which hospital personnel were supposed to get the fuel. It also published audio of a call in which a Shifa Hospital official is heard saying that Abu Rish is forbidding the hospital from taking the delivery.

If you thought Hamas wants to protect Palestinian children and the elderly – including critically ill individuals – think again.

A top Hamas official previously said that the tunnels they built are only for Hamas fighters and that it’s not their responsibility to protect Gaza residents. And, as evidenced by this story, they also don’t believe it’s their responsibility to help protect the lives of their own babies in the hospitals they use to devise and launch attacks against innocent Israelis.

Hamas leader 'back from the dead' to attack Israel Kidnapping specialist who appeared to have died nearly a decade ago is alive and masterminding campaign of terror after hiding in tunnels beneath Gaza for years

Hamas leader who was presumed dead is alive and organised the October 7 terror attacks from a network of tunnels in Gaza, Israeli spies are said to believe.

Mohammed Sinwar was pronounced dead in 2014 by Hamas, which released an image of him lying on a bloodstained bed.

But in reality this was a stunt aimed at protecting him from Israeli assassination attempts and he was one of three to four figures behind the attacks on Israel which killed 1,400 people, it is claimed.

'He was 100 per cent one of the core team who planned Oct 7,' a former Mossad counter-terror chief told the Telegraph.

'In the military leadership he's very important,' the source said.

'He's around number seven on the wanted list, alongside the likes of Mohammed Deif, Marwan Issa and Tawfiq Abu Naim. He's an important figure and he's still alive for sure.'

The video Hamas is trying to hide: Palestinians refuse to be used as human shields and escape south, away from Hamas’ terror hub.

In a video that Hamas doesn’t want you to see, it depicts Palestinians choosing not to act as human shields and instead moving south using the ID’s evacuation corridor to distance themselves from the activities of Hamas, known for its acts of terror.

Additionally, accounts from a Palestinian woman suggest that Israeli forces were firing, although not at civilians; the gunfire may have been directed at Hamas militants who posed a threat to the civilian population.

Likely impeachment adds to Joe Biden’s already brutal presidency

The third year of Joe Biden’s presidency has been a brutal one. And it’s about to get much worse — in a very personal way.

At a time of deep polarization, Americans of all political persuasions are united in rejecting Biden’s economic policies. Polls show 70% of voters believe the country is headed in the wrong direction and a majority rate the economy as poor.

His open-border policy is raising security alarms at the FBI and causing serious financial problems in cities run by fellow Democrats.

Beyond his policy failures, the president’s mental and physical declines are so pronounced that most voters don’t want him to seek a second term, including a majority of his own party.

Then there are the two regional wars that could erupt into global conflicts. Even as he leads the West’s long, costly support for Ukraine against the Russian invasion, Biden has been compelled to help Israel destroy Hamas, a stance dividing his party and leading to a shocking surge of antisemitism at home.

The crush of crises is more than trouble enough for any 80-year-old president facing a grueling re-election campaign, one where a New York Times poll showed him trailing Donald Trump in five of six battleground states.

And now comes the threat that hits closest to home: The president likely will be impeached by Republicans over his involvement in his family’s corrupt influence-peddling schemes.

All of Biden’s chickens are coming home to roost — at the same time.

Two teachers taught 1st graders about ‘genocide in Palestine’ at LA synagogue

Two teachers have been removed from a Los Angeles area charter school located at a synagogue after teaching a lesson to first graders about “genocide in Palestine,” according to school officials.

The teachers were ousted from the classroom — but not fired — from the Citizens of the World Charter School, which has classrooms at Adat Ari El Synagogue in the San Fernando Valley, KTLA reported.

Senior Rabbi Brian Schuldenfrei told reporters at a press conference on Friday that tensions at the school first emerged after “certain teachers” reached out to the school’s principal about Israeli flags hoisted around campus following Hamas’ Oct. 7 surprise attack on Israel.

“I know that this is a time to hold your community close, and perhaps the flags are intended for that – but do you know how long they will be up?” the principal, Hye-Won Gehring, emailed Schuldenrei after the teachers asked when they would be removed.

Schuldenfrei said he found the email offensive and likened it to asking Americans to take down American flags after the September 11th terrorist attacks. Gehring later apologized, he said.

He later learned that the same teachers who complained about the flags had taught a “human rights” lesson to first graders at the school — and posted about it online.

“After the lesson, one of the teachers proudly shared on Instagram, and I quote, ‘LOL but I did a lesson on the genocide in Palestine today w my first graders…,’” Schuldenfrie said. “The teacher went on to boast: ‘My fav was a kid who was like ‘What if they just gave the land back to Palestine and find somewhere else to live.”

The teacher added a heart emoji to the end of the post, he added.

The world needs to know that anyone who calls for the eradication of Israel is expressing a pernicious form of antisemitism, a denial of the right of Jews to live in our ancestral homeland,” Schuldenfrie continued. “The heart emoji … is perverse punctuation, dressing up hate in the guise of love.”

CWC executive director Melissa Kaplan apologized and vowed that the school would fully investigate the incident.

“CWC unequivocally condemns the social media posts by our staff members, including the use of the word “genocide” to describe Israel’s [response to the attack],” Kaplan said in a statement. “CWC unequivocally condemns the disturbing suggestion that Jews should leave the region, and we unequivocally condemn any lesson that creates bias or fear among our students.”

Gehring again apologized on Friday and announced she would be taking a two-week absence to complete sensitivity training.

The incident has been traumatizing for the local Jewish community, Schuldenfrie said, but added it is “heartening to see Citizens of the World take these first steps” and that hoped this could be a “learning moment.”

'Settler violence? A false claim and our job as a state is to refute it'

Religious Zionism MK Tzvi Sucoct demands that Israeli officials push back on claims of settler violence.

After the publication on Arutz Sheva - Israel National News showing a drastic decrease in nationalist crime this year compared to previous years, and in the shadow of the war, on Saturday evening, MK Tzvi Succot (Religious Zionism), chairman of the subcommittee on Jewish affairs, sent a letter to the Foreign Minister and the IDF Spokesman, in which he called on them to refute the allegations of settler violence.

Succot opened the letter by saying that

"In recent weeks, a false campaign has been carried out in the shadow of the war regarding 'settler violence.' Similar publications were in the New York TimesCNN, and many media outlets around the world."

Netanyahu Excluded Ben Gvir Because of He Demanded the elimination of Hamas

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir was interviewed on Channel 12 News on Saturday night and commented on the surprise October 7 attack by Hamas, sparing no criticism from the Prime Minister.

"Netanyahu excluded me [from Cabinet discussions] and the truth must also be told, he excluded me on the basis that I demanded targeted eliminations [of terrorists]. His people said that I constantly wanted to set the region on fire. There was a mistake in the concept, both by Netanyahu and by others. I hope everyone understands that the concept was wrong," Ben Gvir said, before clarifying, "I have responsibility, I am a member of the government. But they didn't listen to me - they excluded me."

"There was a 'concept camp' here that talked about containment [of Hamas] and that Hamas was deterred, including Gantz, Bennett and Eizenkot. Stop beautifying history," added Ben Gvir. "When I joined this government, I thought differently - that targeted eliminations were needed. Maybe I should have pounded on the table. You can't come and tell me today that I didn't do all this – because of that, I was excluded from the Cabinet meetings."

Ben Gvir was asked if Netanyahu should resign and go to new elections, but dodged the question. "I'm sure that after the war everyone will be held accountable. Netanyahu will give clear answers. Right now I'm calling to conquer the Gaza Strip."

The minister also said, "I'm not shying away, the Prime Minister was also into a lot of concepts that today have been proven to clearly have been a mistake. I'm still fighting the ‘concept’. What are these pauses [in the fighting]? How can you allow pauses? I say to Netanyahu, go on a public diplomacy campaign in the US. The Americans wouldn't even let a bottle of water in. Let's spread the word in the US from coast to coast."
