The weathered transit halls of New York’s Port Authority Bus Terminal have been turned into a makeshift immigration office over the last couple weeks, ever since Texas Gov. Greg Abbott began sending asylum seekers and other migrants to New York City

And when they arrive, Masbia, the kosher food pantry, is among the organizations there to greet them, providing shoes and smiles for hundreds of weary migrants.

“It is hard to keep up the pace,” Masbia Executive Director Alexander Rapaport told the New York Jewish Week, after his organization had been there for days, handing out hundreds of pairs of shoes they picked up from Walmart and Target. “It’s not a little sandwich we’re giving people.”

On Thursday, another busload of migrants arrived from Texas at 11:00 a.m. after a 72-hour journey. Among them was Anthony, a 22-year-old from Venezuela. He told the New York Jewish Week that his route north took him through the Panamanian jungle, where he injured his feet, leaving him “crying and depressed.”

“There are people who come for us in the jungle,” Anthony said. “They have shotguns, revolvers, they just run through us, take our money, our cellphones, rape our women, then go.”

He added, “A gentlemen of 60 years old, the people took and raped his granddaughter, he tried to defend her, and he also got raped.”

Anthony said he came to New York City alone, leaving his family behind in Venezuela.

“I don’t know anyone here,” Anthony said. “My family is very poor. I’ve been lucky to even get to New York. My goal is to get a good job and help my family back in my country.”

He added that he was apprehended after crossing into Texas, and border patrol officials asked if he wanted to go to New York.

“They put me on a bus, and here we are,” Anthony said.

The buses are part of what the Republican Abbott says is a plan to pressure the Biden administration on border security; critics, including NYC Mayor Eric Adams, say it is an inhumane political stunt. In a New York Post op-ed on Tuesday, Abbot called Adams a hypocrite for calling New York a sanctuary city and then complaining about the new arrivals.

 An FBI agent who was previously featured in a video from the bureau in which he described steps the organization takes to combat election fraud, has resigned from his post amid allegations of political bias.

FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault retired over the weekend, per Fox News. He was escorted out of the building following his resignation, according to a source.

Thibault’s name spent considerable time in the news after it emerged that he may have used his position to interfere with the Hunter Biden investigation.

Senate Judiciary ranking member Chuck Grassley personally named Thibault in a July 18 letter he had written to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland, in which he demanded an explanation for what whistleblowers described as a pattern of political bias from high-ranking officials.

“As you are aware, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Tim Thibault is not the only politically biased FBI agent at the Washington Field Office,” the letter stated. He added that “the FBI answers to Congress and the American people.”

Grassley gave Wray a deadline of Aug. 31 to respond to his letter, in which he also demanded a full breakdown of the structure of the Washington Field Office, including who is responsible for the units and squads within the office.

In a touch of irony, Thibault was featured in a video posted by the FBI in October of 2020, in which he described how the FBI protects election integrity.

Are we entering a new era in the history of Jewish settlement of the Land of Israel? The answer is clear: There is an awakening, such as we have not seen in many years.

On Tu B'av (the 15th of the Jewish month of Av), the garin organized a huge event, which was attended by rabbis, as well as by Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional council; MK Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionism); and Tzvi Sukkot and Naama Zarbiv, candidates for the Zionist Religious party. The event was followed by an all-night Torah learning session and a gathering with Rabbi Arele Harel.

Yedidya Slonim, the coordinator of the Nachala seed groups, said: "Starting from the 21st of Tammuz we have been conducting non-stop activities in a few locations. There are daily Mincha (afternoon) prayers, followed by Torah learning and Maariv (evening) prayers in each location. At the Tu B'av event at Maale Yonatan, there were 20 families who camped out in tents overnight. Last week we had a group of young people who, after a brief training course, spent days working on developing the area.”

“The public is motivated and determined, especially in light of the absurd situation, where we see daily illegal Arab building activity, on government land.

“On Tisha B'Av (the Ninth of Av), hundreds of people were in various locations to conduct the traditional Kinot (lamentations) reading. This year, the mourning for the destruction of the Holy Temples was accompanied by positive feelings over the steps we are taking in rebuilding and settling of the Land of Israel. There were prayers at Maale Yonatan; Gofna near Nachliel; Ramat Arbel in the Galilee; Mitzpe Avichai; Mevaseret Adumim; as well as a number of other locations. MKs from all the right-wing parties expressed their full support for these activities.”

Lital Slonim, who heads the public relations for Nachala, said: "MKs from the Likud, the Religious Zionism party, and other right-wing parties are in constant contact with us. They are fully aware of the danger that Arab illegal building activities pose, and they support our efforts to put an end to it. The awakening caused by Nachala's activities is not limited to the Israeli public: The demand for the establishment of new Jewish communities by the government of Israel caused an awakening throughout Jewish communities across the globe.

Bnei-Brak Rebbe Indicted For Abusing Two Minors During Recesses

 

The Central District prosecutor issued an indictment against a 35-year-old teacher from Bnei Brak who taught in a Talmud Torah in Elad on suspicion of abusing two children when he was locked in the class with them.

The scathing indictment was issued by attorney Moshe Yechezkel and details how for a half a year from the beginning of 2022, the accused attacked two minors aged 12 and 14 who were studying in the Talmud Torah and exploited his position and role to give favorable attention to the youths in return for abusing them. The acts were performed during recesses when the teacher was in the locked classroom together with the pupils.

Requesting that the accused be remanded in custody until the end of legal proceedings, Yechezkel wrote that “the acts of the respondent show that he did not hesitate to use subterfuge and cunning in order to harm young juveniles. The respondent utilized his position to create trust and closeness and to exploit an opportunity to do what he is charged with.”

The accused is charged with performing criminal acts on a juvenile under 16 years old and under 14 years old while exploiting his position of authority and their dependence on him as well as utilizing his educational and supervisory role.

Police said that “if there are further victims of the accused, they should contact police and submit a complaint.” The man’s name was released for publication, and VINnews will provide the information for all who wish to submit complaints and who may have been victims of the teacher.

 

Twitter Suspends ‘Libs-of-Tik-Tok’

 

This weekend, the popular “Libs of TikTok” account was suspended by Twitter, over alleged violations of the social media platform’s guidelines.

A suspension message apparently sent to the account was posted by a different Twitter user: “Hi Libs of TikTok, your account, @libsoftiktok has been locked for violating the Twitter rules. You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.”

Twitter did not specify which “offensive” tweet prompted the suspension.

Libs of TikTok has become extremely popular by sharing shocking far-left videos from TikTok which depict people engaging in immoral behaviors including child mutilation. In addition, subject matter can include critical race theory, and immoral public education issues.

This is not the first time the right-wing account has been censored in recent weeks. It was suspended from Facebook last week and received the following message: “You can’t use Facebook or Messenger because your account, or activity on it, didn’t follow our Community Standards. We have already reviewed this decision and it can’t be reversed.”

Satellite imagery showed widespread destruction at a giant military facility in western Syria targeted in a recent Israeli airstrike, and the head of a Syrian opposition war monitor said Sunday the strike targeted a depot housing over 1,000 middle-range missiles for Iran-backed fighters.

Syrian state media reported after the Thursday night attack near the cities of Tartus and Hama that two people were wounded and fires were sparked in nearby forests. It added that the missiles were fired from over the Mediterranean and most of them were shot down.

CNN’s Dana Bush Downplayed Anti-Semitic Hate and Violence Towards Orthodox Jews

 

Orthodox and politically conservative Jewish groups are criticizing CNN’s special report on anti-Semitism that aired on Sunday night, alleging that it whitewashed anti-Semitism directed at Orthodox Jews coming from the political left.

The hour-long “Rising Hate: Antisemitism in America,” hosted by the network’s chief political correspondent Dana Bash, focused on rising incidents of violence and hatred against Jews.

Agudath Israel of America said that they appreciated that CNN chose to focus attention on anti-Semitism through the creation of the report but was disappointed that attacks on Orthodox Jews—who represent the most likely victims of the attacks due to their visible attire—was addressed only tangentially.

“While the show mentioned anti-Semitism on the far right and the political left, Ms. Bash’s comments on social media seem to minimize the violence on the left by simply calling it ‘troubling discourse emerging,’ ” Agudath Israel said in a statement to JNS. “We are hopeful that this is just the beginning of a wider discussion on the topic that will transcend party-line politics in order to effectively combat anti-Semitism.”

Another Orthodox group, the Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), which represents more than 2,000 traditional rabbis, called the special report a “deliberate whitewash,” claiming that the opinions the report shows did not represent traditional communities.

“Though the program acknowledged that hatred can come from both the left and right, it also seemed to suggest that 90% of anti-Semitism can be tied to white supremacy: [attacks in] Poway [Calif.], Charlottesville [Va.] and former President Donald Trump not condemning David Duke ‘enough’ for their liking,” said CJV vice president Rabbi Dov Fischer.

“There was no mention of [Democratic] Reps. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, [Nation of Islam leader] Louis Farrakhan, or the perpetrators of the clear majority of shootings, stabbings and other random attacks that have become sadly common in places like Brooklyn, N.Y.; Monsey, N.Y.: and Jersey City, N.J. This was a deliberate whitewash—one that enables left-wing anti-Semitism to fester unchecked.”

The group wrote that according to statistics and leaders in the affected communities, the overwhelming majority of anti-Semitic attacks are not coming from white supremacists. It pointed to two separate incidents over the weekend where Orthodox Jews were attacked by African-American teens and noted that the hostage situation at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas in January, which the special report covered, was a result of hateful beliefs aligned with the political left.

The special report’s reliance on ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt was a common thread among those who criticized it.

“CNN appeared to rely inordinately upon Jonathan Greenblatt, a former Obama [administration] staffer who has taken the ADL in a highly partisan direction, and even brought in Jill Jacobs, head of an organization seen by most of the Jewish community as providing political cover for anti-Semitism,” CJV southern regional vice president Rabbi Moshe Parnes said in a release.

“CNN failed to speak with a single Orthodox rabbinic leader—whether from the Simon Wiesenthal Center or a rabbinic organization like our own—and hid from its audience the predominant cause of the current crisis.” JNS

If nearly the entire psychology profession didn’t suffer from the condition to greater or lesser degrees, it would be a likely subject for diagnosis, particularly given the unself-conscious way in which the victims of Trump Derangement Syndrome act out their animus.

What the "Raah" Bird Teaches Us

 

In this week's parsha, Parshas Re'ea, the Torah itemizes and names the non-kosher birds!

"You may eat every kosher bird. The birds that you may not eat, are the eagle, the ossifrage, the osprey, the white vulture, the black vulture, the kite, the entire raven family."

Rashi points out that the ראה, איה and the דיה are all from the raven family. 

Rashi asks why is the white vulture called ראה? He answers that this bird can see very far.

The gemarra in Mesachtas Chulin (63b) goes a step further and states:

עומדת בבבל ורואה נבלה בארץ ישראל

"While standing in Bavel it can see a carcass in Eretz Yisrael"

Question: If Hashem gave this bird such a gift to be able to see so far, why didn't Hashem make this bird kosher? Why is it a non-kosher bird?

The Baal Shem Tov ז"ל  answers that any creature that resides in Chutz Le'aaretz and sees a "carcass" in the Holy Land cannot possibly be kosher. 

The Elul lesson for "Chutz Le'arretz'nics" is, that if you focus and see bad things in Eretz Yisrael, search your soul; know that it is not coming from a good place. 

What affidavit tells us about DOJ’s Trump intentions

 

Predictably, it was much nothing about ado.

To what should be the surprise of no one, the Justice Department so thoroughly redacted the affidavit supporting the FBI’s raid of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate that the exercise was pointless. DOJ has given us nothing about the monumental decision to execute a search warrant at the home of a former American president — unprecedented in US history.

In the absence of information, we are left with speculation. Here are a couple things worth observing:

Interestingly, one of DOJ’s principal arguments against disclosing the FBI’s warrant affidavit, an argument that plainly persuaded Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, was the need to avoid unfair prejudice to uncharged persons. Of course, the uncharged person at issue here is former President Trump.

Texas Keeps Dumping Busloads of Migrants in New York ...Dem Hypocrites Going Berserk as 14 hotels now used for housing

 

A busload packed with nearly 50 migrants arrived in the Big Apple from Texas Saturday amid outrage at Gov. Abbott’s continuing plan to dump border crossers from Mexico and Central America in New York City.

Another busload is expected later in the day, according to reports.

The most recent arrivals are mostly young men and several women, now part of the 1,500 migrants sent to the city by the Texas governor to draw attention to the flood of migrants crossing daily from the southern border — a figure that is expected to surpass two million in this fiscal year.

City officials have long been outraged by Abbott’s actions, which have also seen busloads of migrants sent to Washington, D.C.

“He’s weaponizing asylum seekers,” Manuel Castro, commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, told Fox News. “It is shameful, and it is our moral obligation to condemn the use of human beings for political purposes.”

City Comptroller Brad Lander called Abbott’s strategy “inhumane” and “disgusting.”

The migrants are being housed in 14 Big Apple hotels because the city’s shelter system was overloaded amid the growing crisis at the southern border, The Post revealed Thursday.

“Texas is filling the gaps left in Biden’s absence at our border,” Abbott wrote on Twitter Saturday. “We’ve made over 19,000 arrests, seized over 335.5M lethal fentanyl doses, & sent over 7,400 migrants on buses to DC and over 1,500 to NYC. While Biden ignores the crisis, Texas steps up.”

Is Israeli intelligence no longer trusted in the corridors of power in Washington, D.C.?

Senior Israeli analysts told JNS that the relationship between the Israeli intelligence community and its American counterpart has worsened since President Joe Biden took office.

Last week, Israeli security forces raided the offices of seven NGOs in Ramallah. They reportedly confiscated dozens of documents, printers and computers. The military sealed the office doors and posted notices that declared the groups illegal.

Mark Zuckerberg Says Facebook Censored Hunter Biden Laptop Scandal Due to FBI Pressure

 

 In a bombshell interview with Joe Rogan, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that prior to the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, the FBI pressured the company to look out for “Russian disinformation”.

As a result of that warning, Facebook censored the story, which was first broken by the NY Post.

Following the FBI warning, Facebook’s algorithms were specially programmed to limit the sharing and visibility of the story while the company investigated whether the laptop was genuine.

Zuckerberg made it clear that despite having zero evidence that the story was fake, the social media platform censored the story in a “meaningful” way for five to seven precious days.

Although he does not recall whether the FBI specified the Hunter laptop, Zuckerberg insinuated that it was clear the FBI was referencing that scandal.

This is a blockbuster revelation, as it is the first confirmation by a media outlet that they censored the story based on instructions from the FBI.

Virtually every media outlet, including the NY Times and CNN, have confirmed the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop, years after the 2020 election.

Biden Rejects Urgent Phone Call from Israeli PM over Iran: ‘On Vacation’

 

srael Prime Minister Yair Lapid’s request to hold an emergency telephone conversation with U.S. President Joe Biden to discuss the nascent nuclear deal with Iran has been rebuffed with the excuse that the American president “is on vacation,” Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

According to Israel’s Channel 13, Lapid sought to speak with Biden in an attempt to prevent a return to the 2015 JCPOA nuclear pact but U.S. officials denied the request, informing Lapid Biden “is on vacation.”

In another instance of American rejection, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz was set to meet with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Thursday but was informed that the latter was “out of Washington,” the report said.

Gantz will meet with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan alongside his Israeli counterpart, Eyal Hulata.

Channel 13 cited an unnamed Israeli official as saying that “the gaps between [Israel] and the Americans are very large” in the newly drafted deal.

Senior Israeli officials have lamented the new deal is “even worse’ than the one that preceded it, which former president Donald Trump withdrew from in 2018.

On Wednesday, Lapid delivered a rare condemnation of Biden, saying that the latest proposal between Tehran and Western powers crossed even his own “red lines.”

“In our eyes, it does not meet the standards set by President Biden himself: preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear state,” Lapid said.

“We have made it clear to everyone: if a deal is signed, it does not obligate Israel. We will act to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear state,” Lapid said.

A day later, however, Lapid said the pressure tactics against the American administration were working.

“The Americans accepted a large part of the things that we wanted them to include in the drafts,” Lapid said on Thursday. “It is a welcome change, and the dialogue with them is good and we will continue it.”

Biden has already faced criticism for using his vacation time as an excuse to ignore issues at home, this week coming under fire for ignoring the border crisis.

The head of the Shuvu Banim sect, convicted criminal Eliezer Berland, is expected to arrive in the city of Hebron on Thursday evening in order to hold a prayer event at the Cave of the Patriarchs (Me'arat Hamachpeilah), together with his followers.

Berland has to date served two prison terms, the first following his plea bargain after admitting to serious sex offenses, the second following another plea bargain after admitting to fraud and extortion. However, he has thus far not faced justice for his role in the deaths of two young men targeted by his students, even though he has freely admitted that he knew of at least one of the deaths at the time. Furthermore, several people who were then considered close to him have testified that it was Berland who ordered his followers to commit the murders.

Meir Shitrit, the brother of one of the young men, Nissim Shitrit, who disappeared in 1986, is protesting Berland's visit to the holy site. Berland met with him several months ago, following the arrests of several of his students. "I'm sorry I did not tell you 35 years ago: You can say Kaddish for him," Berland said, referring to the Mourner's Prayer recited by first-degree relatives. Shitrit's body has not been recovered.

I cannot comprehend the fact that there are still people who support this man.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Wednesday fired back after State Department spokesperson Ned Price claimed the nuclear deal with Iran, that the Biden administration seeks to return to, is predicated “on the most rigorous and intensive verification and monitoring regime ever negotiated. If we were to get back into this deal and if Iran were to attempt to violate it, we would know."

In a lengthy Twitter thread responding to Price, Cruz wrote, “Complete horse manure. The Iran nuclear deal is designed to let the Ayatollah cheat his way to a nuclear arsenal.”

“These so-called ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections failed in the last deal - and will be even weaker this time,” he warned.

“Let's review the actual facts. These ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections missed that Iran was hiding a Nuclear Archive to build nuclear weapons. Israel exposed that in 2018,” noted Cruz.

“These ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections missed Iran had a secret nuclear warehouse at Turquzabad. Israel exposed it, Iran sanitized it, so when the IAEA finally visited they found man-made uranium traces... though of course Iran destroyed the evidence, so these ‘most rigorous and intrusive’ inspections never figured out where that man-made uranium came from. They do know it "must have come from another UNKNOWN location,” he added.

Finally, said Cruz, “And the new deal's ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections are even weaker! The Director General of the IAEA has already said that Iran's nuclear progress allowed by the Biden admin this year means the Agency probably can't verify Iran's activities.”

Shameless feds leak details of Mar-a-Lago raid but push court to keep affidavit sealed

 

This week, a curious scene will play out in a Florida courtroom. A federal magistrate will be asked to uphold what are expected to be extensive redactions of the affidavit supporting the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago. The judge, however, will be able to read an array of the same details at breakfast in newspaper accounts leaked by the government.

The feds have maintained that absolute secrecy is essential to protect their investigation and national security while reportedly leaking some of the very information the affidavit contains. It is an all-too-familiar pattern for some of us who have litigated national-security cases against the government.

Mosdos-Backed Trump Hating Dan Goldman Declares Victory Over Anti-Israel Yuh-Line Niou

 

Political newcomer Dan Goldman, who is tailed closely by Manhattan Assemblymember Yuh-Line Niou – an outspoken critic of Israel – in early elections returns, has declared victory in the 10th Congressional District at a campaign watch party in SoHo despite the race being too close to call. Goldman received the backing of local Boro Park mosdos. Absentee ballot counts will prove crucial in that primary.

The City reports that nearly 21,502 Democratic voters in the 10th District – the newly created district that includes portions of Boro Park – had requested absentee ballots, with 7,849 ballots returned, according to numbers released by the city Board of Elections. Goldman leads runner-up Niou by around 1,000 votes.

“I am proud to stand in front of you here today as your Democratic nominee for Congress,” Goldman told supporters. “And while we appreciate and respect the democratic process and will make sure that all the votes are counted, it is quite clear from the way that the results have come in that we have won.”

Niou told supporters at her own campaign party: “We will not concede until we count every vote.”
