Israeli intelligence no longer trusted in Washington?
Is Israeli intelligence no longer trusted in the corridors of power in Washington, D.C.?
That would appear to be the case, judging from comments made last week by U.S. State Department Spokesperson Ned Price at a press briefing.
Senior Israeli analysts told JNS that the relationship between the Israeli intelligence community and its American counterpart has worsened since President Joe Biden took office.
“It is going in a bad direction,” said Yonatan Freeman, an international relations expert at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. “Biden has changed the tune on Israel.”
Last week, Israeli security forces raided the offices of seven NGOs in Ramallah. They reportedly confiscated dozens of documents, printers and computers. The military sealed the office doors and posted notices that declared the groups illegal.

Mark Zuckerberg Says Facebook Censored Hunter Biden Laptop Scandal Due to FBI Pressure
In a bombshell interview with Joe Rogan, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that prior to the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, the FBI pressured the company to look out for “Russian disinformation”.
As a result of that warning, Facebook censored the story, which was first broken by the NY Post.
Following the FBI warning, Facebook’s algorithms were specially programmed to limit the sharing and visibility of the story while the company investigated whether the laptop was genuine.
Zuckerberg made it clear that despite having zero evidence that the story was fake, the social media platform censored the story in a “meaningful” way for five to seven precious days.
Although he does not recall whether the FBI specified the Hunter laptop, Zuckerberg insinuated that it was clear the FBI was referencing that scandal.
This is a blockbuster revelation, as it is the first confirmation by a media outlet that they censored the story based on instructions from the FBI.
Virtually every media outlet, including the NY Times and CNN, have confirmed the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop, years after the 2020 election.

Biden Rejects Urgent Phone Call from Israeli PM over Iran: ‘On Vacation’
srael Prime Minister Yair Lapid’s request to hold an emergency telephone conversation with U.S. President Joe Biden to discuss the nascent nuclear deal with Iran has been rebuffed with the excuse that the American president “is on vacation,” Israeli media reported on Wednesday.
According to Israel’s Channel 13, Lapid sought to speak with Biden in an attempt to prevent a return to the 2015 JCPOA nuclear pact but U.S. officials denied the request, informing Lapid Biden “is on vacation.”
In another instance of American rejection, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz was set to meet with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Thursday but was informed that the latter was “out of Washington,” the report said.
Gantz will meet with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan alongside his Israeli counterpart, Eyal Hulata.
Channel 13 cited an unnamed Israeli official as saying that “the gaps between [Israel] and the Americans are very large” in the newly drafted deal.
Senior Israeli officials have lamented the new deal is “even worse’ than the one that preceded it, which former president Donald Trump withdrew from in 2018.
On Wednesday, Lapid delivered a rare condemnation of Biden, saying that the latest proposal between Tehran and Western powers crossed even his own “red lines.”
“In our eyes, it does not meet the standards set by President Biden himself: preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear state,” Lapid said.
“We have made it clear to everyone: if a deal is signed, it does not obligate Israel. We will act to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear state,” Lapid said.
A day later, however, Lapid said the pressure tactics against the American administration were working.
Biden has already faced criticism for using his vacation time as an excuse to ignore issues at home, this week coming under fire for ignoring the border crisis.
Convicted criminal & pervert Eliezer Berland to hold prayer event at Mearas Ha'machpilah
The head of the Shuvu Banim sect, convicted criminal Eliezer Berland, is expected to arrive in the city of Hebron on Thursday evening in order to hold a prayer event at the Cave of the Patriarchs (Me'arat Hamachpeilah), together with his followers.
Berland has to date served two prison terms, the first following his plea bargain after admitting to serious sex offenses, the second following another plea bargain after admitting to fraud and extortion. However, he has thus far not faced justice for his role in the deaths of two young men targeted by his students, even though he has freely admitted that he knew of at least one of the deaths at the time. Furthermore, several people who were then considered close to him have testified that it was Berland who ordered his followers to commit the murders.
Meir Shitrit, the brother of one of the young men, Nissim Shitrit, who disappeared in 1986, is protesting Berland's visit to the holy site. Berland met with him several months ago, following the arrests of several of his students. "I'm sorry I did not tell you 35 years ago: You can say Kaddish for him," Berland said, referring to the Mourner's Prayer recited by first-degree relatives. Shitrit's body has not been recovered.
"This is an absolute disgrace," Shitrit wrote on Thursday, after hearing of the intended visit of the sect to Me'arat Hamachpeilah. "The Jewish community of Hebron is about to welcome this notorious individual, Eliezer Berland, a person who is unworthy of being a leader of anyone. They are using public money to support a convicted sex offender who admitted to and was found guilty of terrible crimes and who is guilty of the three cardinal sins in Judaism, sins so grave that a person must give up his life rather than transgress them - sexual offenses, murder, and idol worship."
Shitrit added that, "They are advertising that the 'tzaddik' [exceptionally righteous person] is going to visit Me'arat Hamachpeilah today, the resting place of our holy Patriarchs and Matriarchs. It's incomprehensible that a person like this could be a descendant of our holy ancestors when the blood of their descendants is on his hands. I cannot comprehend the sheer insolence of this cruel murderer whose followers, to this very day, continue to conceal the place where my brother Nissim is buried, may Hashem avenge his death. I cannot comprehend the fact that there are still people who support this man.
"The Torah teaches us that we must not stand by and allow our fellow Jews' blood to be spilled," Shitrit continued. "We are all the children of our holy ancestors - all of us, other than this man who brazenly and openly transgressed the three gravest sins in the Torah. I sign this with grief:
Meir Shitrit. May Hashem console His people and avenge the blood of His servants."
Jew Hating J Street accepts $1M donation from George Soros
Two Israel-involved PACs reported millions of dollars in donations in August, including from billionaire donors with long track records of giving to Israel-related causes.
Kraft Group LLC, the company owned by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, gave $1 million to the United Democracy Project, the new super PAC affiliated with AIPAC, the powerhouse Israel lobby. George Soros’ Democracy PAC donated the same amount to the J Street Action Fund, the PAC affiliated with the liberal lobby claiming to be pro-Israel lobby.
Satmar/Iran Nuclear deal is designed to let the Ayatollah cheat his way to a nuclear arsenal
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Wednesday fired back after State Department spokesperson Ned Price claimed the nuclear deal with Iran, that the Biden administration seeks to return to, is predicated “on the most rigorous and intensive verification and monitoring regime ever negotiated. If we were to get back into this deal and if Iran were to attempt to violate it, we would know."
In a lengthy Twitter thread responding to Price, Cruz wrote, “Complete horse manure. The Iran nuclear deal is designed to let the Ayatollah cheat his way to a nuclear arsenal.”
“These so-called ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections failed in the last deal - and will be even weaker this time,” he warned.
“Let's review the actual facts. These ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections missed that Iran was hiding a Nuclear Archive to build nuclear weapons. Israel exposed that in 2018,” noted Cruz.
“These ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections missed Iran had a secret nuclear warehouse at Turquzabad. Israel exposed it, Iran sanitized it, so when the IAEA finally visited they found man-made uranium traces... though of course Iran destroyed the evidence, so these ‘most rigorous and intrusive’ inspections never figured out where that man-made uranium came from. They do know it "must have come from another UNKNOWN location,” he added.
Cruz continued, “These ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections missed that Iran had a secret nuclear site near Marivan. Again the same thing: Israel exposed it, Iran razed it, and though the IAEA still found man-made uranium traces they couldn't prove what Iran did.” 5/X
“These ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections never dug into Iran's nuclear Varamin site. They inspected it after Israel exposed the Nuclear Archive. Guess what they found? Man-made uranium traces. Maybe that's where Turquzabad materials came from!” he added.
Finally, said Cruz, “And the new deal's ‘most rigorous and intensive’ inspections are even weaker! The Director General of the IAEA has already said that Iran's nuclear progress allowed by the Biden admin this year means the Agency probably can't verify Iran's activities.”

Shameless feds leak details of Mar-a-Lago raid but push court to keep affidavit sealed
This week, a curious scene will play out in a Florida courtroom. A federal magistrate will be asked to uphold what are expected to be extensive redactions of the affidavit supporting the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago. The judge, however, will be able to read an array of the same details at breakfast in newspaper accounts leaked by the government.
The feds have maintained that absolute secrecy is essential to protect their investigation and national security while reportedly leaking some of the very information the affidavit contains. It is an all-too-familiar pattern for some of us who have litigated national-security cases against the government.

Mosdos-Backed Trump Hating Dan Goldman Declares Victory Over Anti-Israel Yuh-Line Niou
Political newcomer Dan Goldman, who is tailed closely by Manhattan Assemblymember Yuh-Line Niou – an outspoken critic of Israel – in early elections returns, has declared victory in the 10th Congressional District at a campaign watch party in SoHo despite the race being too close to call. Goldman received the backing of local Boro Park mosdos. Absentee ballot counts will prove crucial in that primary.
The City reports that nearly 21,502 Democratic voters in the 10th District – the newly created district that includes portions of Boro Park – had requested absentee ballots, with 7,849 ballots returned, according to numbers released by the city Board of Elections. Goldman leads runner-up Niou by around 1,000 votes.
“I am proud to stand in front of you here today as your Democratic nominee for Congress,” Goldman told supporters. “And while we appreciate and respect the democratic process and will make sure that all the votes are counted, it is quite clear from the way that the results have come in that we have won.”
Niou told supporters at her own campaign party: “We will not concede until we count every vote.”
"Iran Lover" Nadler Wins Victory 12th Congressional District
Rep. Jerry Nadler cruised to victory in Tuesday’s contentious Democratic primary to represent New York’s 12th Congressional District, ousting longtime incumbent Rep. Carolyn Maloney after three decades in office to the dismay of her longtime supporters.
As a celebratory Nadler addressed boosters on the Upper West Side Tuesday night, the mood at the Maloney party in Chelsea turned mutinous, as her supporters booed and jeered the House Judiciary Committee chair’s televised speech, with some yelling “Traitor!”
With more than 95% of the district’s vote scanners reporting, Nadler had 55.4% of the vote compared to just 24.4% for Maloney. Attorney Suraj Patel, who was challenging Maloney for a third consecutive cycle, had 17.8%.
Nadler said both Rep. Carolyn Maloney and Suraj Patel called him tonight to concede defeat.
He praised Patel as an “exceptionally bright and committed young leader” and thanked Maloney for her “decades of service to our city,” adding that they spent much of their “adult lives working together.”

Israel Reinstates PCR Tests At Ben-Gurion Airport
Starting on Wednesday, Ben-Gurion International Airport will reinstate a service that most travelers probably didn’t miss—PCR testing for people entering Israel.
The tests are being funded by the government and are voluntary, at least for now. The purpose of the program is to make PCR testing easily accessible for people entering the country ahead of winter, when COVID numbers are projected to spike.
In the first phase of the new rollout, testing will be carried out from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Later, testing will be available around the clock. Travelers who want to be tested can avail themselves of the service in the G zone of the arrivals hall after collecting their baggage.
Once incoming flights land, passengers will receive text messages from the Health Ministry encouraging them to be tested before leaving the airport.
Tens Of Thousands at Funeral Of Rabbi Shalom Cohen
Tens of thousands of mourners marched in Jerusalem on Monday at the funeral of Rabbi Shalom Cohen, the spiritual leader of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party.
The funeral procession set out at 2 p.m. from the Porat Yosef Yeshiva in Geula, which Cohen led for the past eight years, toward the Sanhedria cemetery.
Dana Bash Says Her New CNN Special On Antisemitism Is ‘One Of The Most Important Things I’ve Ever Done’
CNN’s Dana Bash has what she calls “a very, very Jewish response” to the question of why she’s hosting a special for her network on antisemitism in America.
“The bad news is there is antisemitism in America,” Bash told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “The good news is I work in a place that wants to shine a spotlight on it, and allow for an investigation into what is happening, why it’s happening and what are the solutions.”
Bash, a member of Temple Micah in Washington, D.C., is the great-granddaughter of Hungarian Jews who were murdered at Auschwitz. She told JTA that having the opportunity to report a special on modern antisemitism was “one of the most important things I’ve ever done.”
The hour-long special, “Rising Hate: Antisemitism In America,” will air on CNN Sunday at 9 p.m. EST. It’s a broad overview of the last few years of antisemitism in America, with a particular focus on how it has evolved in the digital age. Other topics include the Coleyville, Texas, synagogue hostage crisis that unfolded earlier this year; the role former President Donald Trump’s campaign played in fomenting antisemitic rhetoric; Jewish college students who have reported discrimination on campuses; and the operations of the Secure Community Network, a nonprofit that tracks and responds to antisemitic threats from an undisclosed bunker in the Chicago area.
The topic is a personal one for Bash, in more ways than one. To accompany the special, she authored an essay on CNN’s website in which she discusses her own recent apprehension when her preteen son asked her if he could wear a Star of David necklace in public. Deborah Lipstadt, the U.S. State Department’s special envoy on antisemitism, is interviewed in the special, and also discusses why she wears a Star of David as she works.
Ben & Jerry’s Bid To Block Its Ice Cream From Being Sold In The West Bank ...Melts
A federal judge denied ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s attempt to get its parent company Unilever to stop selling the brand’s ice cream in the West Bank.
Andrew L. Carter Jr., a U.S. District judge in Manhattan, said Ben & Jerry’s claim that the sale would harm its brand, which incorporates social justice, was “speculative,” Bloomberg reported, and he blocked the ice cream maker’s request for a preliminary injunction against Unilever. The judge has yet to dismiss the case outright.
Ben & Jerry’s said last year it would suspend sales to the West Bank while maintaining sales in Israel’s pre-1967 territory. That spurred condemnation by Israeli government officials and some U.S. Jewish organizations, along with calls for a boycott of the ice cream maker.
In June, after consulting with Jewish groups and Israeli officials, Unilever sold its Israeli business stake to Israel-based American Quality Products, Ltd., which has owned Ben & Jerry’s Israel factories and distributed the product in Israel since 1987. American Quality Products, Ltd. has publicly vowed to continue selling Ben & Jerry’s in the West Bank.
Ben & Jerry’s sued in July to stop the sale, arguing that it violated the agreement the company signed when it sold to Unilever in 2000, which permitted the brand to continue pushing social justice issues.

Weigh and tag your own baggage: Ben Gurion Airport set for digital upgrade in 2023
Ben Gurion, Israel’s primary international airport, is expected to undergo a digital transformation next year that will see waiting times significantly reduced, the Israel Airports Authority announced Sunday.
According to a statement issued by IAA, the authority’s CEO Hagai Topolansky has allocated over NIS 50 million (over $15 million) toward the project, which he hopes will transform the airport into one of the most advanced in the world.
“A main objective of the IAA is improving services for passengers in the immediate future and, in the long term, becoming a digital airport and one of the most advanced of its kind in the world,” said Topolansky in the statement.
The transformation is expected to focus on bypassing time-consuming procedures for outgoing passengers.
In new service centers referred to by the IAA as Touch-and-Play booths, passengers will be able to independently weigh their luggage and pay for extra weight if necessary, according to the requirements of the different airlines.
Passengers will also be able to print out luggage tags and send their luggage to the plane by themselves, which will render the initial check-in lines at the airport obsolete.
The IAA has estimated that this transformation will shorten check-in waiting times by at least half an hour.

In a rare op-ed, the former Prime Minister beseeches the Charedim to stay united.
Out of fear of a split between the factions of the haredi United Torah Judaism (UTJ) party, former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has published a rare op-ed in the haredi newspaper Merkaz Ha'inyanim, calling for haredi Judaism to stay united.
Under the headline "Our strength is in our unity", Netanyahu writes, "The nation of Israel's strength as a nation is in its interpersonal relationships. The nation of Israel wins when it's united."
According to the front page article, "We need to learn from that in our time too, when enemies, both from within and from the outside, come to hurt us."
Netanyahu also calls on yeshiva students and says, "From the honorable platform which this newspaper is, I call the yeshiva students, sages, who will soon renew their studies, the people of Israel are proud of you and your studies, continue to be united, we are all brothers."
The former Prime Minister concludes his article by writing, "Throughout my life, I fought, and I am still fighting, to ensure that those that want to destroy us, fail. We must continue to be united so we can continue protecting the nation of Israel and the land of Israel."
Netanyahu's op-ed comes on the heels of discussions surrounding a split between the Degel HaTorah and Agudat Yisrael factions that make up UTJ, the party that represents the Ashkenazi (Jews of European descent) haredi community. A split in UTJ can considerably weaken the former Prime Minister's right-wing bloc.

Mordechai Schlesinger 18 Drowns
In a tragic accident which occurred at the Kinneret Wednesday evening, an 18-year-old boy drowned at the separate beach near the tomb of Rabbi Meir Baal Hanes.
The boy, Mordechai Schlesinger from Bnei Brak, was missing for an hour until he was located in the water and brought in critical condition to the beach, where emergency personnel attempted to resuscitate him. He was taken to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
Schlesinger was born in 2004 in Bnei Brak. His father, R’Yechezkel Schlesinger, who was present at the beach, serves as a mashgiach in the yeshiva of Beer Hatalmud in Elad and his mother is a member of the Finkelstein family in Bnei Brak. Mordechai studied in the Chemed yeshiva and later in Netivot Chochma, a yeshiva in Bayit V’gan, Jerusalem.
His friends described a wonderful personality who was loved by everyone and sat and studied at all times, including during Bein Hazmanim and other holidays as well as during breaks in the yeshiva schedule. He exuded joy of life and calmness but his learning was fiery and full of excitement.
In a tear-filled levaya, Mordechai was taken from his parent’s home in Bnei Brak to Elad, where he was buried. His father said that he would awaken every morning and study without speaking (Taanis Dibbur). Rabbi Dunner from the Divrei Shir shul in Bnei Brak where he studied testified to his diligence and said that “the walls of the Beis Midrash prove that even in the last week of Bein Hazmanim he was studying.”
Al Franken the Disgusting Self-Hating Jew Lies that Trump Made an "antisemitic Comment..ADL Silent
Al Franken, the disgraced former comedian-turned-senator, falsely claimed on Twitter that President Trump made disparaging comments against Jews.
In addition, the responses to Franken’s tweet make it clear that many people took him seriously. Astonishingly, the tweet exposes that Franken, a Jew, is bigoted against his own people.
The real question is, where is the ADL? Once again, the group who claims its mission is to protect Jews from antisemitism, has chosen to protect liberal antisemites and throw Jews under the bus.

200 Charedim enlist in IDF
Around 200 young Charedi men converged on the Tel Hashomer recruitment center in central Israel on Tuesday, to begin their IDF service.
The new recruits are to be integrated into important positions in the military, most of them are enlisting in combat units in tracks that are specially dedicated to them in the Netzach Yehuda battalion, the Tomer company of the Givati Brigade, the Hetz company of the Paratrooper Brigade and the Air Force.
In addition to the combat soldiers, recruits also joined the "Shahar" track, which integrates the soldiers in a number of non-combat positions in the Ground Force Command, the Communications Corps, and the intelligence branch. They will serve in the IDF for two years, after which they will complete their matriculation exams and begin academic studies.
Throughout the recruitment process and their military service, all Charedi recruits are accompanied by the army's Charedi administration.
"We welcome the new recruits with open arms," Charedi administration head Amir Zuzut told the recruits. "These are top young men, who decided to dedicate the next few years of their lives to the Nation of Israel and the State of Israel."
Large portions of history to be left out of Israeli curriculum
Wow! They may as well be a Chareidie Yeshiva, they don't learn these things either!
They don't learn about the Holocaust, Tanach, Mazada etc. Nada!
They do learn about the destructions of both Bais Hamikdash but really don't know any details. This Tisha Be'ov I heard a Yeshivisha speaker speak about the Churban, but what he said was so amateurish, he probably got his stuff a comic book.
In accordance with the reform in Israel's standardized matriculation exams, which will take effect in September, the material taught in the nation's high schools will be cut drastically. As part of the cut, the chapter that discusses the Second Temple Period in Jewish history will be completely removed from the curriculum.
According to a report in Haaretz, high school students will no longer learn about the following topics: the Babylonian exile, Cyrus's proclamation, Ezra and Nehemia, the Second Temple, Hellenism, Antiochus' decrees, and the Hasmonean, Masada, and Bar Kokhba revolts.
Attorney Racheli Sinkin, who is running in the Religious Zionism party primaries, commented: "In a few years no child will understand why the State of Israel is any better than Berlin. Our job is to return the Tanakh (Bible, Prophets, and Writings), Jewish identity, and history to the curriculum, otherwise we won't be here!"
Earlier this year a major reform in matriculation exams was announced. According to the reform, students will no longer be required to take 12 to 14 matriculation exams, but only four to five. The subjects in which students will be tested in external exams will be English, mathematics, another language, and an elective. A student will also be able to take another elective if he or she chooses to do so, for example, science or computer science.
With the exception of those external exams, other subjects such as Bible, literature, history, civics, and more will be taught within the schools and the examination will take place internally. At the same time, the standard that students will be required to meet will be particularly high.
Trump Posts Spoof Endorsement of the Bobover Dan Goldman but Radical Leftist Opponent Takes it Seriously
On Wednesday, President Trump sarcastically posted on Truth Social that it is his “great honor to Strongly Endorse” the Bobover endorsed, Dan Goldman for NY’s 10th congressional district, in an apparent effort to mock him.
However Yuh-Line Niou, a BDS supporting liberal, bought into the spoof endorsement and believed Trump was serious. When Twitter users challenged her, she doubled down.
Trump’s spoof endorsement said: “Lawyer Dan Goldman is running for Congress, NY-10, and it is my great honor to Strongly Endorse him. I do this not because of the fact that he headed up the Impeachment Committee and lost, but because he was honorable, fair, and highly intelligent. While it was my honor to beat him, and beat him badly, Dan Goldman has a wonderful future ahead. He will be very compassionate and compromising to those within the Republican Party, and will do everything possible to make sure they have a fair chance at winning against the Radical Left Democrats, who he knows are destroying our Country. I would like to thank Dan for fighting so hard for America, and for working so tirelessly to stop ‘Trump.’ He was not easy to beat, but winning against him made me realize just how very talented I am!”
Opposing candidate Yuh-Line Niou seemed to take the fake endorsement seriously, tweeting, “Donald Trump just endorsed my multi-millionaire opponent, in case you needed a reminder of what the stakes are. #NY10, choose your fighter.”
Meanwhile a group of Lower East Side pandering Rabbis have endorsed Dan Goldman for Congress. In addition, President Trump released a spoof endorsement of the prosecutor who led his first impeachment.
As reported in Hamodia, the Lower East Side Rabbis Coalition released a letter saying: “We strongly urge all members of our community to vote in the Congressional primary next Tuesday, August 23rd for Dan Goldman.”
The group consists of Rabbi Mayer Friedman, Rabbi Yissachar Ginsberg, Rabbi Yosef Tuvia Horowitz, Rabbi Zvi Room and Rabbi Shmuel Spiegel.
Goldman also got the endorsements of more than twenty Chassidic groups and yeshivas in NY’s District 10, as well as Assemblyman Simcha "langeh rekel" Eichenstein.
The letter listed Goldman’s specific policies which the rabbis support. “We look forward to Dan Goldman’s overwhelming support of Israel, the only true democracy in the Middle East. Additionally, we believe Dan Goldman will help us strengthen and secure our community and we are confident that he will do all he can to ensure that our community does not suffer ill effects due to congestion pricing.”

Watch: Waqf Truck Unloads Garbage inside the Har Habyis
Needless to say, pouring heaps of garbage openly, in broad daylight, is the least of the damage and desecration caused by this inherently antisemitic group.
They need to go.
Tom Nisani, CEO of Beyadenu for the Temple Mount said:
“Following the documented soccer games around the Temple Mount and the desecration of its antiquities, now comes the next phase in turning the sacred compound into the Arabs’ playground.
We understand that the Temple Mount isn’t as valuable to them, it’s time that the State of Israel starts enforcing its sovereignty in the holiest place in the world and decides if it wants to control it.
It is another devastating and absurd sight of waste disposal in the holiest place in the world. A shame on the Jewish people.”
What really happened in the accident involving the Skverer Rebbe that caused a fatality?
On August 15, 2022, at approximately 8:23 p.m. state police responded to U.S. Route 6 in the town of Woodbury for a report of a three-car collision with entrapment and serious injuries.
Initial investigation revealed that a 2021 Ford Explorer was traveling east on US Route 6 when the operator of the vehicle, later identified as Chaim Gordon, age 24 from Spring Valley, NY, attempted to pass a Cadillac (carrying the Rebbe)in front of him and crossed over the double yellow line and entered the opposite lane striking a 2003 Nissan X-Terra head-on.
The Ford Explorer then crossed back over striking the Cadillac, he was attempting to pass. The operator of the Nissan was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Chaim Gordon was transported to Nyack Hospital for minor injuries. Two passengers in the Ford, Yakov Gordon, age 22 and Mordchi Fromowitz, age 18, were transported to Nyack hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Additional passengers in the Ford, Levi Szwerin, age 22 and Duvid Grunwald, age 20 were transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment and later released.
The occupants of the Cadillac, including Rabbi David Twersky, age 81 of New Square were not injured. State Police were assisted by the Town of Woodbury Police Department.
This is an ongoing investigation with charges pending.
Israel To Close Medical Schools For Foreign Students, Ending Pathway Used By Many Americans
Aaron Geller was mostly happy to have gotten into medical school anywhere. But after four years studying in a program for American students at the Technion in Haifa, Israel, he was grateful not only to be a doctor but also because he had seen a slice of Israeli life he otherwise might not have experienced.
“We had Arab Israeli instructors; we were working in a very multilingual, multicultural setting,” recalled Geller, who had spent two years as a child living in Nahariya, a town in Israel’s north, and another two years studying at an Orthodox yeshiva after high school. “And seeing socialized medicine in practice also has educational value.”
Geller’s experience is one that about 130 American and Canadian students a year have had, studying at three Israeli medical schools created just for them. Now, those programs are being closed as the Israeli government looks for ways to produce more doctors locally.
