NYC Mayoral Hopeful Yang Backtracks on His Anti-Bris Stance

Ok now we have another fake phoney and fraud that the Heimishe Oilim will probably endorse and who will kick them where the sun don't shine ....I can just see it now ..Ezra "capo" Friedlander  shlepping him to the anti-Zionists Munkatcher and Satmar rebbes for a Bracha......

"Ying" Yang was absolutely against circumcision ... we are not talking about "Meziza Be'Peh" we are talking about a bris..so now that he is running ..he backtracks and says "I attended many Bris'im"

Ex-2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, a likely entrant in the race to succeed New York Mayor Bill de Blasio next year, responded on Twitter on Thursday to questions about past comments opposing circumcision.

“I have attended multiple friends’ brises and felt privileged to do so,” Yang tweeted. “I believe in religious freedom. This is every parent’s personal decision and not a role of government.”

Yang, who filed paperwork last week to run in the upcoming mayoral contest, the Democratic primary for which will be held in June with the general election following in November, was responding to Ben Max, executive editor at the Gotham Gazette

Earlier, Max had tweeted, “Just learned that @AndrewYang is against circumcision, which may not be helpful in a Democratic primary in New York City.”

Max also linked to a 2019 Daily Beast article, in which Yang spoke out against the practice.

“I’m highly aligned with the intactivists,” Yang told the outlet, referring to anti-circumcision activists. “History will prove them even more correct.”

He added that, if elected president, he would “inform parents that it is entirely up to them whether their infant gets circumcised, and that there are costs and benefits either way.”

The back-and-forth is not the first time circumcision has entered the world of New York mayoral politics. In 2015, Mayor de Blasio eased regulations over the controversial practice of metzitzah b’peh used in some ritual circumcisions.

The former limitations, introduced by de Blasio’s predecessor Michael Bloomberg, had required parents to sign a consent form before the ritual.

Women from lost tribe of Menashe to make Aliyah from India

וקבצינו יחד מארבע כנפות הארץ

This Sunday, January 3, four women and one girl from the Bnei Menashe community of northeastern India will make Aliyah to Israel.

Their Aliyah is the result of a government decision that was promoted by the Minister of Aliyah and Integration, MK Pnina Tameno-Shete, with the support of the Minister of the Interior, MK Aryeh Machluf Deri, and the Foreign Minister, MK Gabi Ashkenazi in cooperation with the Shavei Israel organization.

The arrival of sisters Rut (28), Dina (21), and Avigail Lhanghal (13) from Manipur, along with Malka Zote (37), and Tiferet Renthlei (33) from Mizoram, follows that of the 252 Bnei Menashe who already made Aliyah to Israel two weeks ago.

After undergoing bureaucratic processing at Ben-Gurion Airport, the immigrants will be sent to temporary quarantine according to Ministry of Health restrictions. Subsequently, they will join the other recent Bnei Menashe immigrants who are being housed at Shavei Israel’s absorption center in Nordia, near Netanya, before settling in the city of Nof HaGalil.

“We are happy to start 2021 with the Aliyah of five more Bnei Menashe to the land of their ancestors, the Land of Israel, where they will join their family members who already live here,” said Shavei Israel Chairman and Founder, Michael Freund. “We are confident that 2021 will prove to be a significant year for the continued Aliyah of the Bnei Menashe, as we are planning to bring more than 500 new immigrants from the community to Israel, which is double the number we were able to bring in 2020.”

The Bnei Menashe, or 'Children of Manasseh', claim descent from one of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, who were sent into exile by the Assyrian Empire more than 27 centuries ago.

Their ancestors wandered through Central Asia and the Far East for centuries, before settling in what is now northeastern India, along the borders of Burma and Bangladesh. Throughout their sojourn in exile, the Bnei Menashe continued to practice Judaism just as their ancestors did, including observing the Sabbath, keeping kosher, celebrating the festivals and following the laws of family purity. They continued to nourish the dream of one day returning to the land of their ancestors, the Land of Israel.

Thus far, Shavei Israel has made the dream of Aliyah, immigration to Israel, possible for over 4,000 Bnei Menashe and plans to help bring more members of the community to Israel. Currently, there are 6,500 Bnei Menashe awaiting their return to the Jewish homeland.

"demented" Biden to sign executive order blocking Trump’s ‘midnight regulations’

Fake President-Elect Joe Biden will sign an executive order when he enters office Jan. 20 blocking any “midnight regulations” from President Trump that haven’t gone into effect by Inauguration Day, his incoming White House spokeswoman said.

“We’re announcing today that, like other incoming administrations have done before, the Biden-Harris White House will issue a memo to take effect on the afternoon Eastern Time on January 20 that will halt or delay midnight regulations, actions taken by the Trump administration that will not have taken effect by Inauguration Day,” Jen Psaki said Wednesday.

“Midnight regulations” pertain to federal government regulations that the outgoing administration creates in the lame-duck period between the election and the inauguration.

As an example, Psaki cited an expected Department of Labor rule that would allow businesses “to misclassify” their workers as independent contractors to avoid minimum wage and overtime protections.

The Biden memo would freeze the rule and halt it from being implemented.

The president-elect has vowed to sign a number of executive orders after his inauguration, including to rejoin the Paris climate accords that Trump withdrew the US from in June 2017 and the World Health Organization.

Psaki also said Biden will make more cabinet appointments next week.

He has yet to announce his selections for attorney general, commerce secretary and labor secretary.

“He is very thoughtful about how he makes the decisions of who he’s going to nominate for the cabinet and any real personnel decisions and we believe he deserves the time and space to make those decisions,” Psaki said when asked about the timing of the announcements.

Animal accused of vandalizing four NYC synagogues Arrested and charged with hate crime

A Brooklyn animal was charged with a hate crime Thursday for allegedly desecrating four synagogues last week, police said.

Emil Benjamin, 39, is accused of vandalizing the four houses of worship in Midwood with graffiti last Saturday, authorities said.

The targeted synagogues were Kahal Darkei Noam on Avenue J, Young Israel Senior Services of Midwood on Ocean Avenue, Khal Toras Chaim D’Flatbush on Avenue L and Knesses Bais Avigdor on Avenue J, police said.

At the last location, Benjamin allegedly broke into the synagogue, graffitied the inside, broke two cabinets and swiped $20, police said.

Cops said the graffiti at all the synagogues included derogatory phrases, but didn’t elaborate.

Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin announces death of 25-year-old son

Thomas Bloom Raskin

The 25-year-old son of U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) has died, the congressman’s office said on Thursday.

Thomas Bloom Raskin, a second-year student at Harvard Law School, was remembered as “pure magic” in a statement from his parents

“His brilliance and compassion knew no bounds,” the lawmaker and his wife, Sarah Bloom Raskin, said of their son.

“He passionately loved his family, friends, and animals, and was devoted to the cause of the global poor. We are devastated and demolished to be without him.”

The statement did not provide a cause or manner of death.

Raskin’s office said the congressman and his family are “grateful for the outpouring of support and love from neighbors, constituents, and friends” but asked everyone to “observe strict COVID-19 protocols during this time of grief.”

In addition to his parents, Thomas is survived by his sisters, Hannah and Tabitha, grandparents, Arlene Bloom and Lynn Raskin, and dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, the statement said.

Tributes to the young man and condolences for the family poured in on Thursday night.

“My heart completely shatters for my dear friend @RepRaskin, Sarah, and their family in this devastating loss,” New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

“Tommy was an incredible and brilliant beam of light. All our thoughts are with the Raskin family, and we pray for support to envelop them in this unimaginable time.”

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan wrote that, “The First Lady and I extend our deepest sympathies over this heartbreaking loss.”

“I ask all Marylanders to keep the Raskin family in your prayers.”

Israel vaccinates 800,000 people against virus as campaign enters 2nd week

As Israel's coronavirus vaccination campaign set to enter its second week, the Health Ministry reported Thursday that almost 800,000 Israelis have been inoculated against the virus so far.

Keeping with a pace of 150,000 injections a day, the ministry reported that about 33% of the country's over 60 population has received the first of the needed two doses.

Israel still leads the world in vaccinations per capita, with 7.74% of its population inoculated.
"Within 11 days of Operation Latet Katef (Give Shoulder) we vaccinated almost 800,000 civilians," said Health Minister Yuli Edelstein on Twitter.
"Thank you to the medical staff for the hard and important work, always provided with a smile! Thanks to the medical staff and the rapid deployment of no less than 257 vaccination stations, Israel has already vaccinated more than 150,000 people a day," he added.

On Wednesday, coronavirus czar Prof. Nachman Ash warned that Israel may face a shortage of COVID-19 vaccines if local authorities ignore Health Ministry regulations and administer the inoculation to those not considered eligible for the first tranche.
Ash told Ynet that there may be a need to slow the pace of vaccinations if additional doses do not arrive in the country in an expedited manner.
With reports that municipalities were planning to administer vaccines to local residents in violation of government rules, Ash said there could be chaos and confusion and a shortage of doses for the more vulnerable members of the population.

Tel Aviv municipality has said it would begin vaccinating teachers this week, ahead of tentative plans for them to be added to the priority list from next week.
"We must act responsibly," Ash said. "I agree that it is a good idea to vaccinate teachers and school staff and we are preparing an inoculation schedule for them. But the more vulnerable in the population – the elderly and those with underlying conditions, must come first."
