| Khalil Yusf Ali Jabarin Blood Thirsty Murderer |
Accompanying this essay is a picture of Khalil Yusef Ali Jabarin. At the time the picture was taken Jabarin was a 16-year-old Palestinian minor from the Arab village of Yatta, south of Hebron. Israeli police detained, arrested and jailed Khalil. Like so many other Palestinian minors, he will never be free again, and the Israeli army destroyed his family home to “act determinedly to prevent terror attacks and to deter terrorists.” His family will never be with him again and they’ve lost their home. It’s heartbreaking.
Congresswoman Betty McCollum’s bill, co-sponsored by Representatives Bobby Rush (D-IL), Danny Davis (D-IL), Andre Carson (D-IN), Marie Newman (D-IL) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and supported by J-Street and Americans for Peace Now, aims to “Prohibit U.S. taxpayer funding to the Government of Israel from being used for 1) the military detention, abuse, or ill-treatment of Palestinian children in Israeli military detention; 2) supporting the seizure and destruction of Palestinian property and homes in violation of international humanitarian law.” McCollum wrote, “U.S. assistance intended for Israel’s security should foster peace and must never be used to violate the human rights of children, demolish the homes of Palestinian families.”
The insinuation inherent in McCullum’s bill and statements is that the detention, arrest and jailing of teenagers like Khalil, and the destruction of his home by Israel’s military is a violation of children’s human rights and the destruction of his family’s home was a violation of international law.

If Paul Harvey was narrating this essay, he’d introduce the second half with the words, “Now here’s the rest of the story.” On Sunday morning, September 16th, 2018 Khalil, the sweet-looking minor in this picture, left his house and traveled to the Gush Etzion shopping center and waited outside of the Rami Levy Supermarket. On that bright and early Sunday morning, Ari Fuld, father of four, and resident of nearby Efrat, had been shopping at Rami Levy and walked out of the supermarket. Khalil attacked Fuld, mortality stabbing him. After heroically stopping Khalil from murdering other people in the shopping center, Fuld collapsed and died from Khalil’s attack. Ari Fuld was an American citizen.
It was first reported that Jabarin’s mother, from the village of Yatta, informed Palestinian and Israeli security forces that Jabrin planned to carry out a terrorist attack. However, in court, it was revealed that his mother came to the checkpoint searching for her son and that she did not inform the soldier that her son was planning a terrorist attack.
Khalil is no sweet teenager. He didn’t have his human rights violated, his detention, arrest and imprisonment didn’t violate any international laws. 16-year-old Khalil Yusef Ali Jabarin is a terrorist and murderer. After being treated for his wounds in an Israeli hospital Jabrin was arrested for murder, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed weapon. On January 6, 2020, after a long trial, Khalil was convicted by the Judea Military Court in the murder of Ari Fuld as well as three other murder attempts. He was given a life sentence.
The Jabrin family appealed the demolition order of their home, but Israel’s Supreme Court rejected the appeal. The home was ultimately blown up by the IDF. Under its program that pays Palestinian terrorists who are killed or jailed by Israel, the Palestinian Authority pays Jabrin’s family NIS 1,400 (nearly $400) a month.
On Tuesday night, September 1st, 2020 at 6:00 PM, St. Paul, Minnesota police responded to a call of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 17-year-old Jorge Batres, inside a pickup truck. Batres had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses shared with police someone was seen running from the area after the shooting. A perimeter was set up, and a suspect was located and taken in for questioning. After an investigation, police arrested 14-year-old Carlos Darrell Dickerson Jr. of St. Paul. Dickerson was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, in Ramsey County District Court. Dickerson pled guilty to fatally shooting Batres. In December 2020 Dickerson was sentenced to jail.
The Ramsey County District Court is in Minnesota’s 4th Congressional District. The Representative for that district since 2001 has been Congresswoman Betty McCollum. After a good deal of time researching I can’t find any objections by Congresswoman McCollum to 14-year-old Minnesota murderer Dickerson’s arrest and imprisonment.
Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP) is an independent, local Palestinian child rights organization dedicated to defending and promoting the rights of children living in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. On their website, they tell the story of “M.K.” a Palestinian teenager. “On October 8, 2016, Palestinian Security Services arbitrarily arrested a 17-year-old West Bank child, M.K., on suspicion of weapon possession. Around 2:30 p.m., a group of men in civilian clothing forced him into a car while M.K. was heading to a taxi station in Ramallah, according to his sworn testimony. The car transported M.K. to Palestinian Security Services headquarters a couple of miles outside of Ramallah, in Beitunia. M.K. was not shown a warrant or told the reason for the arrest. M.K. was detained in a windowless and unsanitary cell, in solitary confinement cell for six days, at the Palestinian Security Services headquarters. He was repeatedly interrogated without access to a legal guardian or lawyer, and his rights were not explained.
According to DCIP, The Palestinian Preventative Security Service (PSS) and General Intelligence Service (GIS) arbitrarily arrested and detained at least 14 Palestinian children in 13 months in a non-transparent process rife with abuses, including the use of solitary confinement and torture.
It seems there’s no difference between the case of 16-year-old Khalil Yusef Ali Jabarin and 14-year-old Carlos Darrell Dickerson Jr. Both were minors who murdered an innocent person. Both were arrested, imprisoned and sentenced for their crime. Like the Israeli military, the Ramsey County police also receive funding from US taxpayers.
Congresswoman Betty McCollum has voiced no objection and proposed no cuts in American financial aid to the Palestinian Authority. Instead of advocating change in the Palestinian Authority policies, McCollum released the following statement responding to President Trump’s cutting of financial aid and relations to the Palestinian Authority – “The Trump Administration’s decision to shut down the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) offices in Washington, DC, is just another signal to Israelis, Palestinians, and the American people that they are not serious about engaging in the difficult diplomatic work it takes to achieve a lasting peace between the Israelis and Palestinians.”
Why is it that Betty McCollum is only proposing legislation that would prohibit US taxpayer money from supporting the arrest of Khalil Yusef Ali Jabarin by Israeli police and not Carlos Darrell Dickerson Jr. by Ramsey County police? Why isn’t McCollum proposing legislation that would restrict American aid to the Palestinian Authority? Not only isn’t McCollum advocating America restrict aid to the Palestinians for its abuse of children, McCollum advocates increasing aid to the Palestinian Authority.
What can explain Congresswoman McCollum’s hypocritical double standard against the Jewish state? McCollum accuses Israel of abusing Palestinian children and proposes legislation to restrict American aid to Israel. The same abuse she accuses Israel of committing occurs in McCollum’s own Congressional district and she is silent about it. The Palestinian Authority is accused of abusing Palestinian minors by the same NGOs that accuse Israel of abuse against the same Palestinian minors. McCollum remains silent in the face of the accusations and advocates for increasing aid to the Palestinian Authority. Double standards against the Jewish state are difficult to excuse.
If Congresswoman McCollum’s bill prohibiting U.S. taxpayer funding to the Government of Israel from being used for the military detention of Palestinian children were to pass, America would be declaring that Fuld’s murderer shouldn’t be arrested, and Israel should conduct no efforts to deter future attacks. As an American taxpayer, I object to the consideration of such a bill, let alone its passage into law. America must support its allies in law enforcement and its efforts to stop terrorism. McCollum wrote, “U.S. assistance intended for Israel’s security should foster peace,” there is no act that fosters peace better than the arrest and imprisonment of terrorists like Khalil Yusef Ali Jabarin. If McCollum was truly interested in peace she’d withdraw her bill.
