You can't make this up: The antisemitic president of Ireland 🇮🇪 gave an antisemitic speech condemning Israel 🇮🇱 during the International Holocaust Day, and when Jews in the audience protested, they were kicked out 👇

My @cnn thoughts on Trump tonight: he simply skipped directly to the “F around and find out portion of this conversation.” Whether you are the president of Colombia or a random illegal immigrant, the message is clear: do not test us. pic.twitter.com/QteYUPeA44

To fully understand just how remarkable today’s exchange with Colombia was, you need to understand how Washington DC has traditionally worked through these sorts of issues, and the different way it works now under Trump.

Recently, Spirit Airlines issued a new dress code for its flight passengers, after several news-making instances regarding customers being removed from flights due to their attire.
Now, customers on Spirit Airlines are subject to being removed from flights if they are “barefoot or inadequately clothed (i.e., see-through clothing; not adequately covered; exposed breasts, buttocks, or other private parts), or whose clothing or article, including body art, is lewd, obscene or offensive in nature.”
Here are some other rules that airlines have regarding clothing.
Passengers on Hawaiian Airlines are prohibited from wearing bathing suits, and “clothing must cover the upper part of the torso,” says its contract of carriage.
Shorts are fine, but “speedos and bikini bottoms are not allowed,” said Hawaiian Airlines. And bare feet are not OK either.
“In all cases, clothing must not be lewd, obscene or patently offensive to others,” said Hawaiian Airlines.
Southwest Airlines passengers cannot wear clothes that are “lewd, obscene or patently offensive,” and passengers must wear shoes.
Similarly to Southwest, passengers on United have a pretty loose dress code.
United Airlines’ contract of carriage specifies that passengers must be “properly clothed.”
Clothing cannot be “lewd, obscene or offensive” as well — and passengers have to wear shoes.
American Airlines’ code of carriage does not specify what is not allowed, but it does say that passengers have to “dress appropriately; bare feet or offensive clothing aren’t allowed.”
Delta’s code of carriage does not have a specific dress code.
It does state that passengers can be removed when their “conduct, attire, hygiene or odor creates an unreasonable risk of offense or annoyance to other passengers.”
Qatar Airways has a dress code for passengers in business class and above, says its website.
“Depending on your destination, there are different rules and regulations regarding the type of clothing you should wear. The dress code is designed to ensure passengers’ comfort and safety while traveling, so it is important to understand the rules before departing,” said Qatar Airways.
This dress code prohibits shorts, sportswear and “overly revealing clothing,” and business class passengers should be dressed “smart casual.”
“Passengers should pay attention to the dress code when traveling in business class, as it will ensure their comfort and respect for other passengers,” said Qatar Airways.
Supreme Court justices, including Yitzchak Amit; Justice Minister Yariv Levin. |
As expected, the Judicial Selection Committee on Sunday evening elected Justice Yitzchak Amit to serve as President of the Supreme Court
The election came after Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara bullied the judicial system into electing him by prohibiting the Judicial Selection Committee from investigating multiple serious allegations against him.
The vote was boycotted by Justice Minister Yariv Levin and the coalition’s representatives on the committee – Minister Orit Strock (Religious Zionist party) and Otzma Yehudit MK Yitzchak Kroizer.
Minister Yariv Levin informed the court administration that he does not recognize the appointment.
“As long as the president of the Supreme Court was not elected through a proper procedure according to law and in accordance with the powers granted to the Judicial Selection Committee and its chair, it will not be possible to carry out actions that require cooperation between the president of the Supreme Court and the Minister of Justice.”
“Therefore, I hereby announce unequivocally that I do not recognize Honorable Judge Yitzhak Amit as President of the Supreme Court, and the proceedings in which he was ‘elected’ are fundamentally flawed and illegal,” Levin wrote.
Levin also issued a statement together with Minister Ofir Sofer and MK Yitzchak Kroizer, saying:
“Today, the Judicial Selection Committee convened and ‘elected’ a president for the Supreme Court, so to speak.”
“We did not participate in the discussion. The election of a president for the Supreme Court at a time when a serious cloud hovers over the conduct of the candidate regarding several different cases, including allegations about his purported actions in conflicts of interest and regarding building violations at his residence, while providing contradictory answers to the raised claims, and without the basic obligation to conduct a professional and objective investigation into those allegations, is a moral disgrace, contradicting all rules of proper administration and reeking of selective enforcement.”
“The public in Israel knows what has happened in the past, and even very recently, to the fate of leading candidates for other senior positions whose appointments have been rejected and disqualified due to similar claims.”
“No less serious is the fact that the ‘election’ was carried out via an illegal order from the Supreme Court, at the height of an inherently illegal process, which stripped the Minister of Justice of his powers as defined by law, turning the Judicial Selection Committee into a rubber stamp for the Supreme Court.”
“The Supreme Court’s order was issued despite the fact that there is no genuine urgency in appointing a president for the Supreme Court, as the acting president holds all the powers of the president, yet the Supreme Court judges were eager to impose this appointment in a forceful and illegal manner.”
“This is a sad day for democracy and a sad day for our judicial system. A president ‘elected’ in such a manner will not be able to gain the public’s trust, which is necessary for the judicial system as a fundamental condition for its existence.”
“In the name of a vast public whose democratic rights were trampled in this illegal process, and whose expectation for a fair and ethical judicial system was also trampled, we will not cease to act until we bring about a fundamental correction of this shameful situation.”
Minister Nir Barkat responded: “What a bushah. This is what a full judicial coup looks like. The Supreme Court justices appointed a president for themselves this evening by trampling on elected officials. A dark day for Israeli democracy.”

A Polish woman and her son last week turned over a cache of at least 500 objects recovered more than 80 years ago from the Auschwitz death camp, including a child’s ragdoll and a prisoner’s uniform.
The mother and son gave the objects to the Foundation of Memory Sites Near Auschwitz-Birkenau on condition of anonymity, according to Dagmar Kopijasz, a member of the foundation’s council.
The woman said that her father had collected them before the former death camp was declared a museum. He often went there immediately after liberation to help with cleaning. He stored all the items in an attic. They are in varying states of preservation, according to Kopijasz.
The cache is one of the “most extradentary finds” in recent years at Auschwitz, Kopijasz told JNS. The state museum that preserves the state museum is scheduled to host the 80th anniversary commemorations of the camp’s liberation on Monday, Jan. 27. Many dignitaries and heads of state will attend. The Israeli delegation will be represented by Yoav Kisch, the country’s education minister.
The objects filled a van that the woman’s son drove to the Foundation’s offices on Jan. 19. The Foundation of Memory Sites Near Auschwitz-Birkenau intends to catalog and display some of the items from the cache on Jan. 27 at the Auschwitz museum.
The cache includes suitcases, one signed “Ungermann” and “transport 3262.” Among the objects are clothing items, including the infamous striped prisoner uniform, and dishes. The objects may also contain artifacts that belonged to SS guards at Auschwitz, Kopijasz said.
“We couldn’t believe what we were seeing. The van she and her son drove to us was full of things. We have been collecting camp relics for over 20 years, but we have never seen such a huge number at once,” Kopijasz told TVP3.
Yacov Livne, Israel’s ambassador to Poland, said the cache also contained some Judaica items.
“Despite the support of the Polish government and private donations, many Holocaust-related sites around Auschwitz-Birkenau were neglected or destroyed. I hope that on the 80th anniversary of its liberation, a solution would be found to preserve what remains,” Livne tweeted on Thursday.
In 2024, more than 1.8 million people visited Auschwitz. The museum received funding from Poland’s government to the tune of about $8 million that year. JNS
A historic handwritten letter by the Ohr Hachaim Hakadosh, Rav Chaim ibn Attar (c1696-1743), sold for $700,000 (2.5 million shekels) at auction in Yerushalayim on Wednesday.
The sale, conducted by Kedem Auction House, includes an additional 25% commission fee.
The manuscript, which emerged from a comprehensive collection assembled by Israeli attorney Avigdor Klagsbald, features the distinctive signature of the Ohr Hachaim Hakadosh and addresses the dayanim of Meknes regarding tax relief for a community member. The letter was discovered within a remarkable volume containing hundreds of manuscripts and signatures from prominent 18th-century Moroccan gedolim, including Rav Yaakov ibn Tzur and Rav Yehudah ben Attar.
In a journey that would shape Yerushalayim’s landscape, the Ohr Hachaim Hakadosh arrived first in Acre with 30 students, intending to establish a yeshivah. After navigating through epidemics in the Galilee, he eventually settled in Yerushalayim, where he purchased a historic courtyard. Now known as the Old Yishuv Courtyard, it is traditionally believed to be the birthplace of the Arizal, Rav Yitzchak Luria, two centuries earlier—and established his bais medrash.
The Ohr Hachaim Hakadosh, a Sephardic gadol, achieved unprecedented recognition among Chassidic communities throughout Europe, with his writings becoming cornerstone texts in Chassidic thought.
The bais medrash he founded demonstrated similar resilience, surviving the 1948 Jordanian destruction of Jewish institutions and later undergoing renovation on Rechov Or HaChaim in the Jewish Quarter following the Six-Day War.
The Ohr Hachaim Hakadosh’s influence continues well beyond his brief life, which ended at age 47 in 1743. His kever on Har Hazeisim serves as a significant pilgrimage site, drawing thousands annually who seek yeshuos there.
The approximately 1,500 male federal prisoners who identify as women will now be sent to men’s facilities in the wake of President Trump’s executive order establishing single-sex prisons, according to a report by the New York Times.
President Trump’s executive order, titled, “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,” also ends transgender-related medical procedures for prison inmates.
The Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF), a feminist organization that advocates for single-sex prisons and raises awareness about incarcerated women becoming victims of male violence, called President Trump’s move “a major victory.”
Currently, WoLF is working to combat California legislation that allows inmates to request facilities that align with their identity, rather than their actual biological sex.

Iran has ordered its proxy forces across the Middle East to exercise caution as the Islamic Republic fears an existential threat following Donald Trump’s return to the White House, The Telegraph has learned.
Officials have told commanders of Iran-backed militias to avoid provocative actions that could escalate regional tensions.
Commanders have also been instructed to maintain defensive positions while avoiding any actions that could be interpreted as aggressive by US forces or regional allies.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s 85-year-old supreme leader, even appeared to be wearing a flak jacket at the funeral of two judges who were gunned down in Tehran last weekend – reportedly over fear of attacks.
With his robes bulging at unusual angles, Khamenei was pictured this week standing over the coffins of the men said to have been assassinated inside the supreme court by an “infiltrator”.
During an extended question-and-answer on Air Force One, President Trump floated the idea of moving Palestinians to create a clean slate.
“I’d like Egypt to take people,” the president said, the AP reports, adding, “You’re talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing and say, ‘You know, it’s over.’”
“I’d love for [Jordan] to take on more ’cause I’m looking at the whole Gaza Strip right now, and it’s a mess. It’s a real mess.”
Trump added that this type of relocation of Palestinians “could be temporary or long term.”
“Something has to happen. But it’s literally a demolition site right now. Almost everything’s demolished, and people are dying there,” he emphasized.
“So, I’d rather get involved with some of the Arab nations, and build housing in a different location, where they can maybe live in peace for a change.”
On Saturday, the Trump administration agreed to send thousands of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel.
That shipment of bombs – 1,800 MK-84s — was previously halted back in May by the Biden administration out of concerns Israel would use the weapons on civilians.
President Trump bashed MSNBC host Rachel Maddow and described her network and CNN as the “enemy of the people.”
“Wow! Rachel Maddow has horrible ratings. She’ll be off the air very soon. MSNBC IS CLOSE TO DEATH. CNN HAS REACHED THE BOTTOM. This is a good thing. They are the Enemy of the people!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The 1:05 a.m. post came hours after Trump held court at a contentious roundtable in California with Democrats, where he slammed their response to the catastrophic wildfires.
“You have emergency powers, just like I do, and I’m exercising my emergency powers. You have to exercise them also,” Trump scolded embattled Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
Trump, 78, urged Bass to let residents complaining of red tape and long delays begin the rebuilding process after the disaster, which is expected to cost $250 billion.
“I just think you have to allow the people to go on their site and start the process tonight,” Trump said during the roundtable.
Neither network responded to a request for comment.
