Major change to TSA protocol is forcing passengers to check carry-on bags

 

Skipping the stress of baggage claim at the airport by using all carry-ons may no longer be possible.

Though the roll-out of the Transportation Security Administration’s new security scanners is intended to offer flyers more thorough screening capabilities and an easier time passing through security checkpoints, it may pose a snag when it comes to taking carry-ons on the plane — as they may not fit through the new devices. 

The 3-D, X-ray computerized tomography (CT) scanners may be elite machines, but Daniel Velez, a TSA spokesperson, shared that their under-an-inch smaller opening does not let larger items pass through as easily as the former scanners did — though he said that the design is “necessary” so that the new tech can accommodate the advanced imaging technology and guarantee optimal performance.

The TSA’s new CT scanners have smaller openings, which may force some passengers to check carry-on bags.

“TSA officers are available to assist travelers with larger items or special needs to help ensure a smooth screening process,” Velez said.

Though the carry-on dimensions that airlines typically allow for — 22″ x 14″ x 9″ — will still fit in the new scanners, per a report by Simple Flying, passengers who hope to squeeze through with larger bags or even expandable options (being that these may change shape when fully packed) may find themselves out of luck.

To ensure an easy trip — and to avoid the hassle of needing to return to the airline ticket counter to check their bag — Velez proposed a few tips for travelers, such as cross-checking the dimensions of one’s carry-on bag with airline size guidelines, using the bins (the new CT machines do not allow bags to go directly onto the belt), and packing away laptops, since the new tech allows for them to stay in-bag.

While some travelers may feel intimidated or frustrated by the new tech, they do pose advantages — providing TSA agents with a 3-D view inside luggage, which will likely reduce manual inspections. Travel-size liquids will also no longer need to be removed.

The announcement comes in the wake of some other recent TSA changes, such as the agency’s new guidelines on packing squishies (the viral toys that are getting confiscated at checkpoints due to the gel liquid inside) and a potential allowance for full waterbottles, though this would likely only apply to PreCheck travelers under its Gateside by TSA program at 13 airports.

This program is expected to expand once the TSA evaluates operations after the initial rollout is complete. For now, flyers must still follow the 3-1-1 rule, where carry-on liquids must be in containers of 3.4 ounces or less.

IDF PROBES FAKE EXEMPTIONS: Suspicious Psychiatric Reports Raise Fears Of Organized Scheme

 

Israel’s defense establishment is investigating suspicions that civilian psychiatrists and other medical professionals may be helping military service candidates obtain mental-health exemptions using assessments that do not accurately reflect their conditions, Ynet reports.

The investigation began after the IDF identified what officials considered suspicious patterns in psychiatric opinions being submitted by candidates seeking exemptions from military service.

According to the report, the military noticed an increase in psychiatric opinions submitted by Chareidi military service candidates as the IDF expanded the distribution of draft orders and enforcement measures against those who fail to report.

The emerging patterns have raised questions over whether individual doctors are independently providing questionable assessments or whether a more organized system may be involved.

Defense officials are examining the documentation and the medical professionals involved to determine whether reports were issued without an accurate medical basis.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the existence of the probe does not establish wrongdoing by every candidate or medical professional whose documentation is being examined.

Yisrael Beytenu chairman MK Avigdor Liberman proposed to seek an agreement with Jordan under which it would administer Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria, sparking backlash from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu attacked the proposal, slamming,

 "Liberman, I knew you were on the left ever since you formed a government with Mansour Abbas. I know you are on the left because you will form a government with Eisenkot, Yair Golan, Bennett, and the Arab parties. But I never believed you would propose today that the Jordanian army control parts of the Land of Israel. Retract this immediately!"

Liberman responded, 

"The only person who declared his willingness to establish a Palestinian state, in the Bar-Ilan speech, is Benjamin Netanyahu."

Liberman then presented his position, saying,

 "I have said this several times, and I will say it again: The Palestinian Authority is a terrorist organization, and the division between it and Hamas is clear. Hamas specializes in armed terrorism, while the Palestinian Authority specializes in diplomatic terrorism. Therefore, the State of Israel must create territorial continuity between all of Area C and maintain complete control there. At the same time, an alternative must be found for the administrative and security control of Areas A and B."

he added.

"Therefore, in order to prevent a vacuum that Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the other terrorists would enter, an agreement must be reached with Jordan for it to administer Areas A and B - an Israeli-Jordanian confederation."

"Someone who supported the expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif, released Yahya Sinwar and another 1,026 terrorists, and initiated the transfer of Qatari money into the Gaza Strip has no right to preach morality to anyone," 

he concluded.

NYT shareholders sue for internal records on Israel-Hamas war coverage

 

Shareholders of The New York Times Company have filed a lawsuit seeking access to internal company records concerning, among other issues, the newspaper's coverage of the Israel-Hamas war and its enforcement of editorial standards.

The lawsuit was filed in the New York State Supreme Court in New York County by the State Board of Administration of Florida (SBA), which manages assets including those of Florida's public pension fund, and the National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR). Both are shareholders in The New York Times Company.

According to a report by The Free Press, the plaintiffs are asking the court to order the company's board of directors to provide internal records, many of which relate to the newspaper's reporting on Israel and the war against Hamas.

The shareholders say they want to examine whether the Times adhered to its own editorial policies, including standards concerning accuracy and the correction of errors.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs have sought access to the materials for approximately four months, but the company has declined to provide them.

The filing also cites allegations by a former Jewish employee who worked on the Times' video desk for nearly a decade.

According to the lawsuit, the former employee raised concerns about what she viewed as antisemitism and anti-Israel bias within the newspaper on at least 15 occasions between 2019 and her departure from the company in March 2026.

The filing states that she raised the concerns with managers, editorial standards officials and the company's human resources department.

The allegations cited in the lawsuit have not been adjudicated by the court.

The lawsuit does not, at this stage, seek damages over the Times' coverage of Israel or the war against Hamas. Instead, the shareholders are seeking access to internal documents that they say would allow them to investigate the company's conduct, editorial oversight and compliance with its own standards.

The plaintiffs are asking the court to compel The New York Times Company to turn over the requested records.

IDF reservist Neria Leiter, the son of Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Yechiel Leiter, and his wife Chana, was wounded in today's (Wednesday) terrorist attack near Route 443.

The family is asking the public to pray for the recovery of Neria Dov ben Chana.

Following the attack, Israel's Ambassador to the United States is making his way back to Israel from New York.

Ambassador Leiter wrote while on his way back to Israel: "I am grateful to the IDF, to the medical team at Shaare Zedek who are now fighting to save the life of Neria Dov ben Chana, and for the prayers of the people of Israel. I believe in the power of prayer, and I believe that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen. Neria needs a miracle," the Ambassador stated.

He added: "Neria continued to serve in the reserves after losing his older brother, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, of blessed memory. Since October 7th, he has served hundreds of days in the reserves on multiple fronts."

KPMG manager Yuen Lee has now joined the victim class and like the Burger King anti-Israel girl she has now uploaded a victim video now says she has been fired after video of her calling a Jewish man a “Zionist pig” during a filmed confrontation at a Chelsea Piers gym in NYC. She already has a GoFundMe link which has collected $56,000 so far.

Lee was wearing a keffiyeh around her waist and claims the confrontation was provoked after the man approached her and questioned her about it.

When confronted about calling him a “Zionist pig,” Lee did not deny it. She repeated the phrase on camera while also accusing the man of being racist.

The video exploded after billionaire Bill Ackman retweeted JBN’s post to his millions of followers and tagged KPMG.

Lee is now pointing to Ackman’s amplification of JBN’s video and arguing that the clip lacked “context.”

But what context changes the words captured on camera? Whatever happened before the recording may explain how the confrontation began. It does not erase what was said once the camera was rolling.

Lee now says she has lost her job following the viral confrontation.
