12 Pregnant Women in Critical Condition Due To COVID-19 In Israel

Due to the spread of the British mutation of COVID-19 in Israel, 12 pregnant women are currently hospitalized in serious condition in different hospitals in Israel. The number came from a report given by National Corona Coordinator Professor Nachman Ash during the Coronavirus Cabinet meeting today.

Ash was responding to a question regarding the dangers of the British Mutation as opposed to the preexisting version of the virus. “It is hard to give an accurate picture without research that has been properly done. I can tell you that according to statistics, we have more seriously ill patients in the age bracket of 40-50-year-olds, and we have 12 pregnant women who are hospitalized in serious condition. It is my opinion that this is due to the mutation, but I can not say 100 percent for certain.”

In Kaplan hospital in Rehovot, a 39-year-old pregnant woman was hospitalized two days ago after having shortness of breath. She was quickly diagnosed with Covid-19 and her situation deteriorated rapidly. She is currently sedated and on a ventilator. due to her deteriorating condition, the medical staff decided to perform an emergency cesarean operation and delivered the mother early in her 34th week.

Another woman, 29-years-old, who also contracted the disease is hospitalized in serious condition, in spite of a slight improvement over the past week. She is in her 13th week of pregnancy.

For Karlin-Stoliner Chassidim Wanting To Attend A Tisch.... Only With A “Green Passport”

Karlin-Stoliner chassidim throughout Israel were informed on Motzei Shabbos that whoever attends tefillos or simchos at the chassidus in Givat Zeev is required to bring documentation that he either recovered from the coronavirus or has been fully vaccinated.

The instructions come despite the fact that the Karlin-Stoliner Rebbe, Baruch Hashem, recovered from the coronavirus in October.

The message added that anyone who received the second dose of the vaccine less than a week prior should continue to adhere to regulations and shouldn’t come to the chatzer at all until a week has passed.

The Karlin-Stoliner chassidus was the first one to close its shuls and other gathering places at the beginning of the pandemic and the Rebbe continues to instruct his chassidim to strictly adhere to health regulations.

Benny Gantz Pushing to Establish Civil Marriage in Israel ... Frum AG Supports This!

Defense Minister Benny Gantz (Blue and White), who also serves as Israel’s Justice Minister, is pushing to recognize thousands of civil marriages of couples who do not meet the criteria for recognition by the chief rabbinate, Yediot Aharonot reported Monday morning.

Last week, Gantz reportedly held a working meeting with senior Justice Ministry officials and Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit. With Mandelblit’s support, it was decided to draft a memorandum of law to permit couples who are unable to marry under the existing system to be registered by the State as married.

The move would, if undertaken, would extend state recognition of marriages performed in Israel to same-sex marriages, as well as to interfaith couples.

Sources close to Gantz say Mandelblit approved the change and the passage of legislation to that effect, even during the lame-duck session on the eve of next month’s general election, citing the ongoing coronavirus crisis and the closure of Israeli airports, which has prevented couples seeking to marry abroad from doing so.

However, the planned change to Israel’s marriage registrar system would be permanent, according to the report.

“We are working to help couples who want but are unable to get married through the rabbinate to get the basic right to be registered as a couple during the period when the skies are closed,” said Gantz.

“The concept of equality is one of the most basic things in democracy. We can’t stand idly by in the current situation when the closure of the skies deprives many Israeli citizens of the basic right to get married. Civil marriage is just and should be passed into law even without any connection to the coronavirus, but the circumstances require that even those opposed to the law for many years should show solidarity towards those couples who wish to establish a family in Israel, especially during these complicated times.”

Under the system inherited from the British Mandate and the Ottoman Empire before it, marriages in Israel are recognized by the State only if they are performed under the auspices of one of the religious establishments administered by the State, such as the chief rabbinate, the Israeli Sharia court system, the Druze court system, or one of the ten official Christian churches recognized by the State.

While Israel does recognize marriages performed outside of the country, allowing couples unable to receive recognition from a religious authority inside of Israel to get their marriages recognized, the system – and its possible reform – has become a hot-button issue in Israeli politics.

Interpol is Searching for an Argentine Rabbi Accused of Sexual Abuse

Interpol is looking in Israel for a former rabbi of a Buenos Aires synagogue who is accused of sexually abusing at least two young men between 2010 and 2018.

Rabbi Marcelo Daniel Krawiec, 44, had been living in Israel since 2019. But according to Argentina’s Migration Department, he entered Argentina on Nov. 17, 2020, and stayed for a week. It is not clear where he is now.

One young man told a special gender violence prosecutor in September that Krawiec abused him between 2010 and 2012, when he was between 16 and 18 years old. He alleged the abuse took place at Krawiec’s house in the Colegiales neighborhood of Buenos Aires, where Krawiec was rabbi of the Chalom synagogue.
Another young man later came forward with a similar allegation against Krawiec, saying he was abused between 2016 and early 2018, starting when he was 16.

Prosecutor Silvana Russi has said that Krawiec took advantage of his “role of spiritual guide and leader that creates a close affective bond to gain their total trust.”

Russi requested an investigatory statement, which was ordered by a Buenos Aires judge.
An appeals court rejected the rabbi’s plea and confirmed a national and international arrest warrant for Krawiec.

92% drop in serious COVID cases among vaccinated'

Israel’s massive coronavirus vaccination campaign has significantly cut the rates of symptomatic COVID infections among the vaccinated population, according to a study by the Clalit health care provider.

The study, which was released Sunday evening, found that the rate of symptomatic coronavirus infections was cut by 94% among the vaccinated population.

In addition, the study found that the number of seriously ill COVID patients was cut by 92% among the vaccinated population.

A total of 1.2 million people were tested for the study, including 600,000 vaccinated individuals and 600,000 unvaccinated people.

Prof. Ran Blizer, manager of Clalit’s research operations and a member of the Health Ministry’s advisory team, called on Israelis under 60 to also get vaccinated against COVID.

“We need to turn the focus to younger age groups, people ages 40 to 60, who have yet to get vaccinated: that’s about 500,000 people – 27% of the age group; these are people who don’t always realize that they are in a risk group. But they currently make up 31% of the people on respirators.”

“One out of every 30 people in this age group will get infected and be hospitalized with a serious case of the coronavirus. So go get vaccinated.”

Graham says Harris could be impeached if GOP takes back House

The senator said he believes the impeachment set a dangerous precedent.

"I don't know how Kamala Harris doesn't get impeached if the Republicans take over the House, because she actually bailed out rioters, and one of the rioters went back to the streets and broke somebody's head open," Graham said. "So we've opened Pandora's box here, and I'm sad for the country."

In June, Harris and other Democrats urged people to contribute to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which was posting bail for people arrested during George Floyd protests.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called out Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for speaking out against former President Donald Trump after voting to acquit Trump at his impeachment trial.

Despite voting in Trump's favor, McConnell, R-Ky., blamed the former president for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Graham warned on "Fox News Sunday" that this will be used against Republicans as they try to retake control of Congress in 2022.

"I think Sen. McConnell's speech, he got a load off his chest, obviously, but unfortunately he put a load on the back of Republicans," Graham said. "That speech you will see in 2022 campaigns."

Graham said GOP candidates running in states like Arizona and Georgia that could be key in Republican efforts to take back the Senate will be asked about McConnell’s speech. Likewise, he said incumbent candidates will be asked about whether they will support McConnell in the future.

McConnell said Saturday that Trump committed "a disgraceful dereliction of duty" by his actions prior to the deadly riot and was "practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day."

Graham said that while Trump had pushed "narratives about the election that I think are not sound and not true," he does not believe the former president's words incited the riot.

Looking at the party as a whole, Graham said McConnell’s speech is an "outlier" when it comes to GOP feelings about Trump's second impeachment.

Graham said he has spoken to Trump since the trial, and while the former president is upset with some members of his party, he is "excited about 2022" and looking to help rebuild the Republican Party in next year's midterm elections.

British Taxpayers Funding Palestinian Textbooks – Where Maths Is Learned By Adding Up Number Of ‘Martyrs’

The Israeli-based Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-se) has demonstrated that British taxpayers continue to pay for Palestinian educational materials despite the fact that pupils are routinely taught incitement, hatred of Israel and glorification of terrorism, according to a Jewish News report. For example, as recently as September last year, Palestinian school students studying under the auspices of the PA as well as in UNRWA (United Nations Relief Work Agency) schools in Judea, Samaria and Gaza were still learning maths by adding up the number of ‘martyrs’, including those who have led suicide bombings on buses and shopping centres.

In the last five years Britain has spent an estimated £105 million on Palestinian education professionals, including on the salaries of teachers who write the textbooks, but it does not monitor the content of those textbooks or the views of those writing them, despite the fact that the funds Britain transfers are officially contingent on “curriculum reform” which requires the PA to take action against “incitement to violence, including addressing allegations of incitement in the educational curriculum”.
