This book is no longer in print .... (I wonder why?)but if you peruse this book, you can see pictures of women all over, and even the photo of the Rebbe's levayeh has a picture with women.

On Sunday morning a shocking video went viral on social media that depicted Rabbi Eliezer Berland conducting, what appears to be an act that goes against all the teachings of Torah and Halachah. Rabbi Berland is the community leader of the Shuvu Banim community.

While many people were shocked by the video footage, members of the Shuvu Banim community defended Rabbi Berland’s actions claiming that this was an extreme circumstance with a good reason for his actions. Viewers saw Rabbi Berland wrapped in his Tallis and Tefillin touching the face of a woman.

The followers of Rabbi Berland publicized another video of the woman, Klara Shammai, a mother of 11 children who was reportedly in immediate danger of dying. Shammai spoke about the original video and says it was filmed three years ago, and that it changed her life, as she put it.

Shammai said: “After seven different types of chemotherapy that I had previously tried due to a tumor in my throat, the doctors all said that there was nothing left for me to do. I went to Rabbi Berland, and he spread an ointment on my throat where the tumor was. After just a few months I was healed in a miraculous way,” she claims.

As can be expected, followers of Berland immediately explained that it is perfectly permitted for a man to touch a women. They sourced a Sefer called “Minchas Yehuda”, written by a Mekubal in Iraq named “Rabbi Pataya”. Berland’s followers claim the Sefer states that “in order to heal someone you must place your hand on the location of the sickness in order to heal them and that this rule also applies to women”.

This is just the latest in a string of bizarre and troubling “Segulos” and never-seen before allegedly holy acts. Two weeks before Chanukah Berland was wrapped in his Tallis during Maariv playing with a Draidel during Davening. And on Chaunkah YWN published a video of Berland smearing oil from a menorah on the faces of children during Davening. Both of these incidents were described by his thousands of followers as very holy.

Rabbi Berland was released from house arrest just before Rosh Hashana, the result of a conviction for assault. Berland pleaded guilty to his actions against multiple victims. He had first fled Israel and traveled from country to country, thus avoiding extradition to Israel, where a warrant for his arrest had been issued. He spent time in the United States, Italy, Switzerland, Morocco, Egypt, Zimbabwe, and Johannesburg before being arrested and extradited to Israel where he faced the law.

His followers claim that Berland willingly took upon himself this disgrace, suffering, and exile, “which spiritually protects the Jewish People from heavenly decrees of annihilation”. It should be noted that audio footage was released where Berland was talking to his attorney about the details of one of his assaults.

Despite the charges and the guilty plea, he continues to be a celebrity-rabbi with many well known Jewish music stars flocking to his Simchas Bais Hashoeva which hosted thousands of people.

He was recently given the honors of being Mesader Kedushin at the wedding of a son of prominent Breslov Mashpia Rabbi Mota Frank.

Just a few weeks ago, Berland was an honored guest at the Spinka wedding in Bnei Brak, where the Rebbe was seen embracing and dancing with Berland as thousands of Chassidim danced and cheered (see video below).

Other Rabbonim continue to flock to Berland including Rav Reuven Elbaz, the Rosh Yeshiva of Ohr Hachayim (see video below).

World Renowned Daf Yoimie Maggid Shiur, Hagaon HaRav Dovid Grossman Killed In Crash In Staten Island

A world renowned Maggid Shiur was R”L killed in an early morning crash in Staten Island.

Hagaon HaRav David Grossman ZATZAL from Los Angeles was tragically killed while driving in Staten Island.

The crash was reported to the NYPD at around 4:00AM on Monday morning on the West Shore Expressway northbound near Victory Boulevard.

The NYPD gave the following statement to YWN:

On Monday, February 5th, 2018 at approximately 3:58AM, police responded to a 911 call for a collision on the Westshore Expressway north of Wild Ave in the confines of the 121st Precinct.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 72-year-old male operator unconscious and unresponsive with head trauma. EMS transported the male to Staten Island University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A preliminary investigation determined the 72-year-old operator of a 2017 Ford was apparently stopped on the right shoulder, partially blocking the right lane due to his disabled vehicle having a flat tire.

Subsequently, a 43-year-old female operator of a 2005 Honda was traveling northbound on the expressway when she struck the rear driver’s side of the Ford causing it to cross two northbound lanes of traffic coming to a final rest on the center median. The operator of the Honda was removed to Richmond County Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad responded and conducting an investigation.

In his younger years, Rav Dovid Grossman studied in the Beis Medrash program of the Yeshiva of Philadelphia for 4 years under the tutelage of Hagaon HaRav Elya Svei and Hagaon HaRav Shmuel Kamenetsky.

He then learned one Elul zman in a branch of the Novardok yeshiva in France.

In Eretz Yisroel, he joined the Yeshiva Mir in Jerusalem, where he became a Talmid of its Rosh Yeshiva, Hagaon HaRav Chaim Shmuelevitz ZATZAL.

In Yerushalayim, Rabbi Grossman developed a personal relationship with Hagaon HaRav Meir Soloveitchik, a son of the Brisker Rov.

It was in Israel where he met his wife, Rachel – who is the principal of Valley Torah High School’s girl division in Valley Village, California.

After returning to America, Rabbi Grossman learned in the Lakewood Kollel for approximately 7 years. He then went on to become one of the founding members of the Lakewood Kollel branch in Los Angeles (1975).

In 1981, he helped start Yeshiva Gedolah of Los Angeles where he served as the 12th grade Maggid shiur until 2008. Concurrently with position as lecturer at YGLA, he opened a Torah program for working young adults and college students, independent of the Yeshiva.

Rabbi Grossman was known around the globe for his daf yomi shiurim and his recordings on every page of the Talmud are widely distributed by many platforms of Shiurim including Kol Halashon, DafYomi.org, OU and many others. He was the first voice of the famed “Dial a Daf”.

His children are: Mrs Sara Fisher, Mrs Tzippy Rokowsky, Mrs. Efrat Privalsky, Reb Meir, Reb Avi, Reb Binyomin, Reb Moshe, Reb Chaim.

Itamar Ben-Gal, 29 Father of four murdered in Ariel terror attack

An Israeli man was killed on Monday afternoon after he was stabbed in the chest in a terror attack outside the West Bank settlement of Ariel, the army and medics said.

He was identified as Itamar Ben-Gal, 29, a father of four from the nearby settlement of Har Bracha.

Video from the scene showed the Palestinian attacker crossing a road toward Ben-Gal, who was standing in front of a bus stop, and stabbing him.

Ben-Gal then fled across the street with the stabber in pursuit.

The military said an IDF officer identified the terrorist and pursued him, hitting with his vehicle, but he managed to flee. “IDF troops are searching the area,” the army said.

The Magen David Adom emergency service and army medics treated the victim at the scene in the northern West Bank settlement.

Medics tried to resuscitate Ben-Gal, who was stabbed repeatedly in the chest, medics said.

He was taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikvah, but died of his wounds, the hospital said.

His funeral was called for Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Har Bracha.

Speaking at a Likud faction meeting in the Knesset, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that the terrorist would be captured.

“We will bring him to justice, as we always do. I put my trust in the security forces who do the hardest work against these reprehensible attacks,” he added.

Ben-Gal is the second Israeli to be killed in an attack in the West Bank in under a month.

On January 9, Rabbi Raziel Shevach, 35, was fatally shot near Nablus in the northern West Bank.

Mishpacha’s fake history claim

Mishpacha Magazine is under fire for pixelating women’s faces in pictures from the Holocaust. While Mishpacha’s policy of not printing pictures of women or girls above the age of five is well-known, blurring the face of a Holocaust victim touched a nerve. In response to criticism, Mishpacha is now defending its policy of erasing women with the claim that, “Like all ultra-Orthodox media, we respect the rules set by rabbinical leaders 70 years ago to not publish pictures of women.” Mishpacha is making a similar claim in emailed responses to letters to the editor, stating, “Mishpacha Magazine abides by the policies set in place by prominent Torah leaders of 70 years ago, which include not publishing photos of women.”

In the wake of The Jewish Week’s report on allegations that a former teacher at a Baltimore Jewish day school abused three young boys when he was a counselor at a Maryland summer camp in 2015, the rabbi has filed a lawsuit against his accusers.

On Tuesday, Rabbi Shmuel Krawatsky filed the suit in Maryland federal court against the parents of his accusers and Chaim Levin, a sexual abuse activist and blogger, for defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Rabbi Krawatsky and his wife are asking for $75 million in compensatory and punitive damages — $15 million per defendant. They say the rabbi’s accusers engaged in an effort to “damage Rabbi K and destroy his reputation and ability to earn a living” by publicly alleging that he sexually abused their sons, charges that he denies.

Attorney Jonathan Little, who represents the families, said the lawsuit is a “thinly veiled attempt to intimidate our clients.”

In the coming weeks, the families of three alleged victims plan to sue Rabbi Krawatsky for battery of children and “any organization that had knowledge that Rabbi K was being inappropriate with children and failed to intervene,” Little Told the Jewish Week in January.
