Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva rises again in Belarus
I don't mean any disrespect, but for the life of me I cannot understand why they would revive this Yeshiva of the Chofetz Chayim, when 800,000 Jews were murdered in Belarus during the Holocaust, representing roughly 80–90% of the country's prewar Jewish population.
And the Chofetz Chayim himself wanted to leave all this behind and make Aliyah?
He bought property in Petach Tikva!
What is this obsession of rebuilding in Galus, Yeshivas and shuls in Jewish blood soaked Europe?
The goyim never wanted us there and don't want us there now?
I really believe that the RBS"O doesn't want this, and neither does the Chofetz Chayim!

Uh huh. Why should anyone step foot into Chachmei Lublin or any of the other places which housed Torah in Europe? We're in Galus.
Shomrei Torah in Eretz Yisroel are persecuted for not serving in an army where Torah observence isn't its core value. That is why.
What a waste of money could be used for such better purposes! Or even any Jews presently living in that town?
Because they see the European shtetl as the Nirvana for Jewish Life.
You're right. The obsession with going back to the places that God allowed us to be brutally driven out of is terrible.
But that's been the standard since the war. Was the community in Europe wiped out? Well instead of going to Israel we'll go to Lakewood, Boro Park, Manchest, Australia wherever and instead of building something new and better we'll rebuild what was destroyed except this time it'll have electricity and toilet paper. How dare God expect us to move forward? It's against the Torah!
Maybe Dirshu is trying to get under your skin. Did you ever insult Rav Dovid Hofstedter? You may have when he spoke to Congressmen about giyus
I agree with you 100%! Why they are opening on blood soaked ground is beyond comprehension. Except too many yeshivas elsewhere so they figure open this one and some rich backers will fund it. They aren't thinking that the antisemitism will impact them, but history repeats itself.
I agree. On a page where it was announced by some Rav, I added the comment that this may not be permitted based on Hilchos Tzedaka. Would the money not be better spent supporting the poor in Israel? The only explanation I could have is that it will be non profit and will generate much more money which will be distributed to the poor than the investment plus ongoing costs.
Yes Shomrei Torah in Eretz Yisroel are holier than Moshe Rabbeinu himself
