The Israeli army knew where they were being held but the misguided attorney general of the army stopped them from doing anything because they were not allowed by law to attack civilians who were not being used as human shields. Israel has an inferiority complex which is why they don't execute terrorists instead of arresting them and don't go on the offense to avoid being attacked .
