Unfortunately this hits close to home, as I knew this tzaddik, I daven in the same shul as the family, I saw this holy soul many times when he came to say hello to his grandfather Dr. Burke! HY"D

Zamir Burke (20) from Beit Shemesh, a platoon commander in the 601st Engineering Battalion, ‘Iron Trails’ Brigade (401), fell in combat in northern Gaza.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic loss of Sgt. Zamir Burke, of blessed memory, a commander in the engineering battalion 601. Zamir, 20 years old,  fell on Erev Shabbat in the northern Gaza Strip while heroically defending the security of the State of Israel and its residents.

Zamir is the 16th soldier from Beit Shemesh to fall in the current war.

The Beit Shemesh Municipality shares the family's deep grief, stands with them in these painful moments, and will provide all necessary support.

Mayor Shmuel Greenberg stated: "Our hearts are with the family in these moments of sorrow. All of Beit Shemesh bows its head and embraces you. We will always remember Zamir's heroism and sacrifice for the defense of the people of Israel."
