Bnei-Brak Liars!

The article below appeared in a Hebrew Magazine called "Matzav Haruach" which I translated loosely into English!

I have written before that Chareidim do not really believe that Torah is מגנא ומצלא (protects), not they nor their spiritual leaders!

They actually laugh and mock that idea as we saw during Bein Hazmanim when they slammed their Gemarrahs shut to spend time with their families while their frum brothers in uniform were dying by the hour! If they really believed it they would have cut the Bein Hazmanim altogether. Some serious Yeshivos actually either cut it short or extended the zman by two days (Mir) which in itself mocks the entire premise. The R"Y of the Institutions that did "extend the learning for a couple of days" admitted that it had nothing to do with the belief that "Torah Protects" it was only for show to fool the masses!

This is really one of many different articles that appeared in hundreds of different Dati-Leumi weekly magazines this week, who are getting angrier and angrier and fed up at Chareidim for not enlisting, but since I believe this one captured all what even Heimishe Yidden are feeling I decided to post it!

by Menachem Rahat

שערי תירוצים לא ננעלו

This week, in an official ceremony, the Bnei Brak Municipality inaugurated the innovative and upgraded security system to protect all the city's educational institutions from terrorists

What can we say and how will we talk? מה נאמר ומה נדבר

According to the municipality:

"Bnei Brak now has an innovative and advanced security system! Dedicated security teams that will move around the streets of the city of "Torah and Chasidus" with armed patrols mounted on the streets of the city, as part of a professional system that, as the municipality testifies, provides effective security to all educational institutions and neighborhoods in real time."

How beautiful! And extremely important in these difficult times.

But, I asked myself,

Why did the municipality waste millions on an innovative and advanced security system

After all, there is no dispute that Torah is מגנא ומצלא (protects)! No?

. So why would you  waste millions protecting the Tinokas shel Beis Rabban, when the Torah itself is מגנא ומצלא? Why waste public funds? Mr. Mayor Hanoch Seibert, where is your frumkeit?

This is further proof that even the municipality of the City of Torah & Chasidus thinks that Torah alone can not possibly be מגנא ומצלא (protect), and that "an additional layer  of professional security teams and policing teams, "is needed!

It turns out that this false, world-wide claim that the Bnei Brak rabbis, brandish," that there is no need to enlist them in the IDF because their Torah מגנא ומצלא (protects)," is also how the  municipality holds, and they both actually hold from the narrow interpretation of the Vilna Gaon, that the dictum of that Torah מגנא ומצלא (protects) only from sin and only personal basis, and does not alone defend against the Palestinian murderers.

The original position of Judaism is that the מעשה עיקר, and  וגדול תלמוד שמביא לידי מעשה and that learning Torah without doing anything is worthless. Hence,מגנא ומצלא (protects) argument is like a bird's twitting.

Already in the Exodus from Egypt, G-d made it clear to us that one needs to take action

!מה תצעק אלי ?דבר אל בני ישראל ויסעו

It turns out that the ultra-Orthodox themselves do not believe in the claim of מגנא ומצלא (protects)

When the Bnei Brak Municipality needs security, it does not ask that people should  increase Torah learning, but rather establishes an "innovative and advanced security system.

When the son of an ultra-Orthodox mother has a fever, she runs to the doctor and does not sit at home relaxed under the pretext of מגנא ומצלא (protects) And when a Charedi wants to cross the busy Jabotinsky Street, he will not jump onto the road without a traffic light, just because the Torah is מגנא ומצלא (protects)

The false מגנא ומצלא (protects) claim is one of the many false excuses raised by the ultra-Orthodox to justify their trampling on explicit Biblical commandments and the reprimands of Moshe Rabbeinu and Deborah the prophetess

לא תעמוד על דם רעך  "Thou shalt not stand on the blood of thy neighbor"

They claim that the  Torah itself cannot not be replaced, but they allow themselves to ignore it with false claims. Sometimes with the claims of מגנא ומצלא (protects) and then sometimes with a new nonsense claim that "The IDF is a large and bloated army and doesn't really need the ultra-Orthodox."

But after it became clear that over the past year, some 900 soldiers and another 10,000 wounded had been wiped out of the IDF's arsenal, a new excuse for evasion emerged:

"Charedi recruits would not be able to maintain their way of life. "

But then came the establishment of the new Haredi Brigade, which is based on the principles of  Charedi conduct (without women, without profanity, with the fanciest kashrut, with dedication of time to prayers and Torah study, etc.), and this proved that this too is a false claim.

Now we have to find a new excuse, and MK Eichler must dig to find  a new way to legalize the evading of the draft.

The sophisticated ultra-Orthodox excuse industry, which works non-stop in the gates of excuses  שערי תירוצים לא ננעלו , is actually designed to cover up the huge elephant in the center of the room, which is the grounds for how to avoid serving the country!

And the elephant that no one sees or hears but is at the center of the ultra-Orthodox ideology is their crooked theology that the State of Israel is not a legitimate state.

This is an ideology deeply ingrained in the blood and soul of all ultra-Orthodox sects – from those who pose as "lovers of Israel" through bizarre gimmicks that conceal a hostile ideology, to Satmar and the Jerusalem fanatics that externalize their hostility to the point of spraying PLO flags on the walls of houses in Mea Shearim.

(As an aside, it should be noted that there is nevertheless a difference between them: the Satmars and the Jerusalem zealots do not reach into the coffers of the Medina, nor do they vote for the Knesset and do not interfere in its affairs; while the others not only reach for the Goldknopfit "bowl," but also send the Mizruchiks to be killed at the front, while their own sons are sent to be "killed" in the tent of Torah, and receive subsidies and financial support from the Medina.)

The perception of the anti-state, hostile to the point of contempt, was shaped by the greatest teacher of ultra-Orthodox after the Holocaust, the Chazon Ish.

Already in 1948-1949 he rejected the Jewish state, the great miracle that is second to none, the האתחלתא, and claimed that the state is headed by "a group of usurpers who call themselves a state and a government" (exact quote!), and therefore – the Yetad Neeman  only this week wrote "everything must be done to take from their hands everything possible."

The Chazon Ish predicted that the State would survive only one year! "S'vat nisht unhalten a yur [it will not take last a year]," he ruled. "After all, a predator animal doesn't live more than a year."

The State of Israel is already in the midst of its eighth decade, but the wrong prediction of the Chazon Ish  remains ingrained as it was in 1948.

Now everything is understandable.

The ultra-Orthodox will never come to the rescue for a" state that does not really exist."

But what do they do with the facts? That the state is still alive and kicking before their very own eyes?

To that, they absurdly claim that "these are just false and repulsive visions and why risk dying for her?"

And if this is how they think then it is no wonder that they despise to the depths of their souls the Torah observant public, who have been giving their lives for a year to save the beginning of the growth of our redemption, fall in battle disproportionately to their share of the population, but only receive condescending epithets of contempt!

Calling them Mazruchniks (not to mention Mesruhniks),Dati-Leuminiks and that their Yeshivos  never be called "yeshivas" by them, but rather 'institutions of order'.

By virtue of this idea, they will never say a prayer for the peace of the state, or even a prayer for the welfare of IDF soldiers; And on Independence Day, they will say Tachnun as if it were Tisha B'Av, as was the custom of the Chazon Aish and Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky.

The days that one has to serve in the reserves – 250-300 in the past year – of the Mizrochiks; whose businesses are collapsing, or the the Dati-Leumis  who throw their lives aside; their wives who are collapsing under the burden of livelihood, laundry and children; The worries of mothers who don't sleep at night and are frightened every time there is a knock on the door, do not worry them at all.

They, after all, sleep well, and wake up leisurely to Goldknopf's "bowl," who brazenly wonders: "Who is bad here, anyway?"

To Goldknopf and his fellow dodgers, what's really wrong here?

It's a question that has been asked for years - if Torah protects, why Shomrim?

R'C Kanievsky held it does protect. However that is only for those without a smartphone & open net access.
Probably implies not for blog owners either

Except that in Yerushalayim in the week of Ocober 7, two little Charede brothers were mowed down by a bus stop by terrorists. These little brothers had no internet access and were "tinokas shel bais rabban"

With all due respect to Gedoilim such as the Chazon Ish & R' Chaim z"l,, they had no clue to current events. I'll give you an example, just this Shabbos I was reading a Bio on the Chazon Ish and in it I found many quotes on the future of the Zionist State, and I burst out laughing at the absurdity of his predictions!
They are so far from reality that it begs understanding on how followers are not embarrassed and ashamed to continue to publish his remarks! R' Chaim Kanievski z"l had absolutely no interest in anything going on around him except for his gemarrah! The information given to him was by my neighbor his grandchild Yanky who himself got his info from the Yated! His entire news was colored by the lenses of those around him that were themselves naive and ignorant of the History of the State!
The author of this article is 100% spot on! Foloowing blindly Gedoilim who are clueless in matters of the State is a dangerous path.
Years ago, Gedoilim were members of Parliament, like Rav Meir Shapiro, the Abarbenel and many others.
I live in Bnei_brak and I can tell you first hand that there isn't anyone that I know that cares on what happens outside of Bnei-Brak!

Bp & Sl,
Both attempted responses were irrelevant -except as an convenient alibi for a diatribe
Bp,
Minors get punished r"l for the deeds of their parents (& grandparents).Familiar with that?

Sl,
IMOAF some predictions subtly ratify the others & are very pertinent till this generation.
eg [trans.]His biggest fear of the Medina would be the religious would come round to like it.

Were that to come to pass (& how!) all the other predictions would be therefore bent through that calculus

Ipso, his predictions weren't off ,except for superficial simpletons. But we try to help everybody

Your answer to Bp that "minors get punished for the deeds of the father"
the father was a rebbe who had no internet connection so why was he punished that his 2 children were murdered? The grandparents are known gedoilim...

Your answer to Sarah Lain is totally incoherent! Both the predictions of the Chazon Ish and the Satmar Rebbe are hilarious and totally disconnected from reality! We are not "simpletons" we are "realists" when you predict that the State will last a "year" and it is now b'h 78 years old that proves that the CI wasn't connected to reality!

The Satmar Rebbe was totally off base as he predicted that the State would eradicate all Torah and that there wouldn't be any Torah institutions, and we b"h see the total opposite and his very own Satmar community has grown from a mere small community to tens of thousands and have yeshivos in Yerushalyim inin Bnei-Brak and Beit Shemesh! Mr Simpleton!

I am writing this with reverence to the Chazon Ish.
The CI was not a Chumash that needs a Rashi to have his words explained. He was not infallible and as his Talmud Muvhak Reb Raphel Halpern writes in his Book
"20 Years Beside the Chazon Ish" that the CI himself said that "he was not a prophet"
Most of his rulings are not followed by the majority of the Jewish people, in fact we always say on an outrageous "shiur" "the Shiur of the Chazon Ish"
As an example, the CI in Israel held two days Yom Tov. Who else holds like that?
I agree that the predictions of the CI that did not come to fruition be taken out of future reprints of his bio, it makse him look ridiculous and brings about a "Chillul Hashem" as more and more people will be "mevazah" a Talmud Chuchim.

Y Cohen is the quintessential reason Jews are losing respect for the Chareidie world!
When Jews hold their spiritual leaders as infallible to the point of worshipping them and holding their saying as Holy of Holies, this can only lead to ridicule and ultimately to disaster. To call a commenter a "simpleton" because he correctly interpreted a saying that Chazon Ish made and imply that the Chazon Ish really meant something else is insanity!
Let's look at a Ramban in this week's parsha. Parshas Ve'Yeirah. The very first Ramban .
He totally decimates the Rambam ! And is not very nice about it
I'll just quote his last statement!
ואלה דברים סותרים הכתוב אסור לשמעם אף כי להאמין בהם
"His (the Rambam) words contradict scripture. It is forbidden even to hear them, and it is certainly forbidden to believe them"
The Ramban is saying that it is "prohibited" to believe the Rambam's interpretation of the Torah portion of Va"yeirah!
Wow!
So comes this Y Cohen and calls someone a "simpleton" because they mock a ridiculous prediction of the Chazon Ish!
I remember when they said during the last national elections that one must vote for Degel and shelpped the old feeble R' Chaim Kanievski to Yerushalayim for a rally and he had no idea what he was doing there! At the rally they were saying that it is a "mitzvah" to vote Degel and if you vote for another party then "you will go to Gehinnom" all this in the name of the Gedoilei Hador! I was astounded standing there in disbelief! Could it be that the thousands standing there listening to this garbage really believe this? These were no stupid people they were Bnei-Torah!
When I left the rally with my wife, I saw another rally, this one was for Shas! Here they were parroting the same narrative that it is a mitzvah to vote for Shas and those voting for any other party is going to hell!
You can't win either way. Either way you go to hell!
This is from Frum parties!!!

Another crucial point to Y Cohen. The book that שרה ליין read about the CI, was a book written to the masses ...yes, to the "simpletons" it wasn't a quote from the CI from one of his teshuvois, it was written as a bio! There is no other way to read it! To call people who read a book published FOR THEM and then when they read it correctly to call them "simpletons" is looking down at them as if they were a bunch of ignorant idiots!

@Dusiznies,

It seems that the increasing fraction of chareidi Bnei Torah are stupid people. How else to explain their rejection of the incontrovertible evidence that Torah does not.
.מגנא ומצלא
Quite the opposite. All those fallen קדושים the brave Hesder, Nachal Chareidi and chiloni soldiers are the the true disciples of Torah ethos, not the entitled, narcissistic chareidi scum.

Many of the statements attributed to the CI and other Gedolim are false. I only consider something from a Gadol if I hear him say it or writes it in a Teshuva that he signs.

Cohen Y said...

Pardon me for intervening in midst of the nationalistic driven war paint ideology.

Let's get to brass tacks: growing up the statement we heard was that the CI predicted the state would not last 50 years. It was precisely that reference that I chose to address.
Pretty certain he never made the statement that the state would only last one year. Interestingly , the prime years of his reverence and Fame where last few years of his life. It's hardly likely that the whole world would have been beaten the path to his door ben gurion included- after- someone would have made such an inane prediction then it was emphatically proven the next year to be off kilter The same one the New York Times article in 1952 called a phenomenon

Dusiznies said...

Now I have to question every single thing said in his name.

Dr Phil ,Esquire, Petach Tikvah said...

Oh! 50 years! Now that's a lot better! 50 years!
It's now 78 years ! Hellllllllllllow! 78 years !
Making a prediction for something that will happen in 50 years when he knows good and well that those hearing that prediction will be dead and not being a prophet is as preposterous as a prediction that it won't last in a "year" both are hilarious.
So what we see is that the CI did in fact make a prediction that the State won't last, the question is only whether he said it will take one year or 50 years!
I believe as I read in many Hebrew publications that he said "one"year! The fact that Ben Gurian went to him after that prediction means absolutely nothing!
And One can make that prediction (50 years) without being the Chazon Ish about anything!
I'll go out on a limb and make a prediction that in 50 years all Charedim will be enlisting in the Army.

Dr Phil
In addition, there was no social media back then, and the news went very slowly. It could even be that only those close to him like Rabbi Halperin heard it and put it into the bio years later, so no one really knew about it בשעת מעשה
I believe he did say "one" year and Rabbi Halperin just put in quotes from the CI for posterity, he held the words of the CI holy even if the prediction did not come to fruition!

Brisker Payois said...

The Chazon Ish made a lot of outrageous predictions and none of them came true, this is just one of them and its מסתברא that he in fact said "one" year! Keep in mind that most of his sayings were only known to the Kanievski clan, as the CI was not a Rosh Yeshiva nor was he a Rav of any shul.

Dusiznies said...

And so readers sent me the exact Chazon Ish's exact quote and he indeed said that the State would not last a year!
"ס'וועט נישט אוסהאלטן הרי בהמת טריפה אינה חיח יותר משנה"
At least 10 readers emailed me the quote, some readers emailed me more outragious quotes with predictions that never happened, but since I couldn't veryfy them I'm at the moment not posting it!
