Speaker Kevin McCarthy was voted out of the job Tuesday in an extraordinary showdown, a first in U.S. history, The 216-210 vote, forced by a contingent of hard-right conservatives, throws the House and its Republican leadership into chaos.
McCarthy’s chief rival, Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, brought forward the “motion to vacate” drawing together more than a handful of conservative Republican critics of the speaker and many Democrats who say he is unworthy of leadership.
Next steps are uncertain, but there is no obvious successor to lead the House Republican majority.

I should have volunteered to inform ex-Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, that the Skverrer Rebbe’s bruuuchos are worthless.
A few years ago, my wife Shayndee Hindeee, decided that we needed one more son so that we could create a minyan in our house. Well, try as we might, Shayndee was unable to conceive, so we decided to visit the Skverrer Rebbe for his special bruuucha. Well that didn’t work out to well because immediately after The Skverrer bestowed his baby bruuucha on my wife, she became a lesbian and ran off with our Polish maid and both of us hem ran off to Krakow together.
Too the contrary, his bruuuuchos make things worse and have the opposite effect.
Now, not only wasn’t I blessed with a complete house minyan, I lost my house maid and have to clean my house by myself.
Brucha? No, a bruch.
