Charedi MKs to get increased security because of Chareidim Themselves

 Police on Monday morning said that the threat level against haredi MKs has escalated amid the government’s push to advance the Draft Law.

As a result, the head of the Israel Police Operations Division decided to increase security and assign personal protection to MK Moshe Gafni, chairman of the Degel Hatorah faction, and the faction's MK Yakov Asher, following a rise in protests and threats directed at them in recent days.

On Sunday night, Kan News reported that Shas chairman Aryeh Deri refused the Knesset’s offer of additional security.

Deri has recently faced several intense protests, including confrontations that occurred on Shabbat (Sabbath), due to the discussions he has been holding with leading haredi rabbis in an effort to advance the Draft Law.

Despite the tension around the issue and the threats made against him, Deri declined the Knesset’s proposal for reinforced protection.

Outside MK Asher’s home, wild demonstrations by the Jerusalem Faction (Hapeleg Hayerushalmi) took place both on Saturday night and again on Sunday night.

On Saturday night, dozens of haredi draft opponents blocked the vehicle of Shas MK Yoav Ben Tzur in Jerusalem after he visited a synagogue in the Bukharim neighborhood. Some protesters jumped on the car and caused damage, while cardboard boxes and trash bags were thrown at the vehicle in protest of the Draft Law.

A Border Police unit was dispatched and extracted Ben Tzur after his car windows were smashed by the rioters. The incident was described by his office as an “attempted lynching,” and it drew condemnations from the Prime Minister, the President, and across the political spectrum.

“Turkey Is The Most Serious Danger To Israel Today”

 

Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli said in an interview with Reshet Bet on Sunday that Turkey poses “the most serious danger to the State of Israel today.”

Chikli elaborated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan “are leading a very aggressive and offensive foreign policy. They are now building bases in northern Syria.”

He added that the Turks “are arming [Syrian President] Al-Julani’s army, the jihad army. These soldiers already openly state where they are aiming their arrows—toward Jerusalem.”

“Israel has to understand that ‘trouble will come from the north’—Turkey and Al-Julani’s Syria. Turkey is building al-Julani’s Syria as a base to attack Israel. Therefore, we must do everything we can to isolate Turkey.”

As part of his call to isolate Turkey, Chikli emphasized the need to strengthen regional alliances: “We need to strengthen our ties with Cyprus and Greece; this week we even saw a joint naval exercise.” He added that economic cooperation should also be reinforced, noting that “this axis of Eastern Mediterranean countries—Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and Italy—is the kind of thing we need to work on intensively.”

He concluded that Israel must also “convince our friends in the US that a dictator, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose half of the opposition sits in prison, who promotes poisonous antisemitic propaganda, is not an ally and cannot be part of NATO.”

President Donald Trump defended Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Sunday amid controversy over his recent interview with far-right activist Nick Fuentes, who has been widely labeled an antisemite. Trump praised Carlson as “good” and said the decision to interview Fuentes ultimately rests with the public.

“You can’t tell [Carlson] who to interview…if he wants to interview Nick Fuentes, get the word out. People have to decide,” Trump said during a press conference. He also addressed reports that Fuentes attended a Mar-a-Lago dinner with Kanye West, saying he was unaware Fuentes would be present. “He came along with a few other people…Meeting people, talking to people—that’s what they do,” Trump said. The president added that he himself avoids controversy, noting, “Some [people] are controversial, some aren’t. I’m not controversial, so I like it that way.”

Rahm Emanuel Warns : No 2028 Presidential Candidates Will Visit Israel

 Longtime Democratic official Rahm Emanuel issued a stark warning to thousands of Jewish communal leaders Sunday night, urging them not to expect 2028 presidential candidates to visit Israel as his former boss, Barack Hussein Obama, did during the 2008 campaign.

Speaking at the Jewish Federations of North America’s General Assembly kickoff in Washington, Emanuel used an ice cream analogy to drive home his point about the crowded Democratic primary field ahead.

“If in 2024 the Democrats didn’t have a choice, in 2028 it’s going to be like Baskin-Robbins. There’s gonna be, like, 31 flavors. Some of us are gonna be chocolate mint. Nobody is going to Jerusalem,” Emanuel said. “Nobody is leaving America to go travel to Jerusalem. That’s the politics. And it’s not just in the Democratic primary.”

Emanuel, who served as Obama’s White House chief of staff and later as U.S. ambassador to Japan, called on attendees to confront shifting political dynamics surrounding Israel and to build a more robust argument for the U.S.-Israel alliance.

Oxford Students Vote 265 to 113 declaring Israel as the Top Mideast Threat Ignoring Iran

In a contentious debate at the historic Oxford Union, students voted 265 to 113 in favor of the motion declaring Israel a greater threat to regional stability than Iran.

The Thursday evening session drew sharp divisions, with proponents arguing that Israel’s actions exert broader international influence, rendering its alleged “aggression” more destabilizing to the Middle East.

“Israel’s policies have ripple effects across the globe due to its alliances and military reach,” said one supporter, a politics student who spoke on condition of anonymity. Backers highlighted Israeli military operations in Gaza and the Judea-Samaria region, as well as strikes on Iranian-linked targets in Syria, as evidence of disproportionate impact.

Opponents vehemently countered, emphasizing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, ballistic missile development and proxy warfare through groups such as Hezbollah. They accused Tehran of fueling conflicts in Syria, Yemen and beyond, while noting that several Sunni Arab states privately regard Iran — not Israel — as an existential threat and depend on Israeli capabilities to balance Tehran’s influence.

“Iran is arming militias that destabilize entire nations,” argued a debater from the opposition side. “Israel defends itself against those very threats.”

The Oxford Union, founded in 1823, is known for hosting high-profile debates on global issues. Thursday’s vote reflects ongoing campus tensions over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and broader Middle East geopolitics, though such motions are nonbinding and symbolic.

No injuries or disruptions were reported during the event.

Yisroel Meir Freeman, a father of three killed in Monsey by a fallen tree

 

Yisroel Meir Freeman, a father of three, was killed Sunday morning when a tree fell on his car near 445 South Pascack Road in Monsey as he drove to kollel. 

Emergency responders, including Ramapo Police, Chaverim of Rockland, and Rockland Hatzolah, freed him and transported him to Westchester Medical Center, where he died despite emergency surgery.

 Freeman, originally from Boro Park, was the son of longtime East Side Hatzolah volunteer Yaakov Freeman.
