Over 100 Boys still Without School
If R' Malkiel Kotler had the power to make sure no school accepted my children, why can't he make sure that all the schools accept the boys from Nesivos Ohr?

The phone call tonight from Rav Shmuel [Kamenetsky] was heart rending.  Nechamas Yisroel wants you to help rescue a Jewish child from being lost to public school. The message tells us what an important mitzva it is to give a child a Jewish education, especially before YOM HADIN [Yom Kippur]. The irony that  this message was being played on the phones of homes in Lakewood did not escape many.

Each year in Lakewood a game is played with parents and children as many  are accepted to schools of their choice, some go to schools that they felt were not in the best interest of their children, and others are left to beg as their children watch others start school. These children can suffer permanent damage as feelings of inadequacy and shame can remain in their psyche for the rest of their school year, and onward.

This year along with the usual- not Tznius enough, not Heimish enough, not enough money, parents are difficult, child is difficult, divorced from my second cousin, not the right hat, not the right Shul, not the right neighborhood, the neighbor told us bad things, husband goes biking in shorts etc.- This year there is an extra difficulty. There are over 100 boys still not in school because Nesivos Ohr boys school closed down. Every week parents are promised new solutions, and although some have been placed in schools, many children are still without a school. The parent body has finally decided to go to the Rosh Hayeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha hoping that he could pressure the schools to accept all the children. R'  Malkiel's  initial reaction was that he thought they were all accepted already.  When the parents explained that nothing was further from the truth, he promised he will try his best and speak to the boys schools to find a solution.

At a recent meeting attended by Roshei Hayeshiva to discuss an individual that the Yeshiva wanted to silence once and for all, an argument ensued between a certain Rabbi and R' Malkiel Kotler. During the argument R' Malkiel became angry and exclaimed "We have the power in this town,  I made sure no school accepted Hershel Herskowitz's children."

Now it is the month of Elul. A time that Rav Shmuel Kaminetzky Shlita has said is a time to worry about the souls of jewish children going to public schools. Here in Lakewood we take the souls of our Jewish children for granted. We use them as pawns. We ignore their existence and focus on the parents. And in the case of the person that is at the helm of everything, we even use them to blackmail someone that we imagine to be a threat to our position of power.

Members of the  Vaad, the Township Committee,  along with Aaron and Malkiel Kotler spent so many hours last year working with principals of schools on how they would  use my children to force me to do their will. The letter I was finally given to sign in order to get my girls into a local school was a revelation of all of their collective fears. 1. No Politics 2. No article writing 3. Never oppose any building projects, and of course 4. Never do anything for the Klal without permission of the Roshei Hayeshiva. I guess someone wanted to have the monopoly on doing good for the town.

So I concede. Since you have all the power, and you don't want me to do any good for anyone, I will give you carte blanche to do all the good you can by yourself.

There are over 100 boys watching their neighbors board buses every morning to go to Cheder. If there ever was a time to show how powerful you really are,  now would be the time.

"I have this theory about Barack Obama. I think he's led a kind of make-believe life in which money was provided and doors were opened because at some point early on somebody or some group (George Soros anybody?) took a look at this tall, good looking, half-white, half-black, young man with an exotic African/Muslim name and concluded he could be guided toward a life in politics where his facile speaking skills could even put him in the White House.


 In a very real way, he has been a young man in a very big hurry. Who else do you know has written two memoirs before the age of 45? "Dreams of My Father" was published in 1995 when he was only 34 years old. The "Audacity of Hope" followed in 2006. If, indeed, he did write them himself. There are some who think that his mentor and friend, Bill Ayers, a man who calls himself a "communist with a small 'c'" was the real author.
 His political skills consisted of rarely voting on anything that might be deemed controversial. He went from a legislator in the Illinois legislature to the Senator from that state because he had the good fortune of having Mayor Daley's formidable  political machine at his disposal. He was in the U.S. Senate so briefly that his bid for the presidency was either an act of astonishing self-confidence or part of some greater game plan that had been determined before he first stepped foot in the Capital.
 How, many must wonder, was he selected to be a 2004 keynote speaker at the Democrat convention that nominated John Kerry when virtually no one had ever even heard of him before?  He outmaneuvered Hillary Clinton in primaries. He took Iowa by storm. A charming young man, an anomaly in the state with a very small black population, he oozed "cool" in a place where agriculture was the antithesis of cool. He dazzled the locals. And he had an army of volunteers drawn to a charisma that hid any real substance.

 And then he had the great good fortune of having the Republicans select one of the most inept candidates for the presidency since Bob Dole. And then John McCain did something crazy. He picked Sarah Palin, an unknown female governor from the very distant state of Alaska. It was a ticket that was reminiscent of 1984's Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro and they went down to defeat.
   The mainstream political media fell in love with him. It was a schoolgirl crush with febrile commentators like Chris Mathews swooning then and now over the man. The venom directed against McCain and, in particular, Palin, was extraordinary.  

Now, 3 full years into his presidency, all of those gilded years leading up to the White House have left him unprepared to be President. Left to his own instincts, he has a talent for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. It swiftly became a joke that he could not deliver even the briefest of statements without the ever-present Tele-Prompters.  Far worse, however, is his capacity to want to "wish away" some terrible realities, not the least of which is the Islamist intention to destroy America and enslave the West. Any student of history knows how swiftly Islam initially spread. It knocked on the doors of Europe, having gained a foothold in Spain.

 The great crowds that greeted him at home or on his campaign "world tour" were no substitute for having even the slightest grasp of history and the reality of a world filled with really bad people with really bad intentions. Oddly and perhaps even inevitably, his political experience, a cakewalk, has positioned him to destroy the Democrat Party's hold on power in Congress because in the end it was never about the Party. It was always about his communist ideology, learned at an early age from family, mentors, college professors, and extreme leftist friends and colleagues.
  Obama is a man who could deliver a snap judgment  about a Boston police officer who arrested an "obstreperous" Harvard professor-friend, but would warn Americans against "jumping to conclusions" about a mass murderer at Fort Hood who shouted "Allahu Akbar." The absurdity of that was lost on no one. He has since compounded this by calling the Christmas bomber "an isolated extremist" only to have to admit a day or two later that he was part of an al Qaeda plot.
 He is a man who could strive to close down our detention facility at Guantanamo even though those released were known to have returned to the battlefield against America. He could even instruct his Attorney General to afford the perpetrator of 9/11 a civil trial when no one else would ever even consider such an obscenity. An he is a man who could wait three days before having anything to say about the perpetrator of yet another terrorist attack on Americans and then have to elaborate on his remarks the following day because his  first statement was so lame.
  The pattern repeats itself. He either blames any problem on the Bush administration or he naively seeks to wish away the truth. 
 Knock, knock. Anyone home? Anyone there? Barack Obama exists only as the sock puppet of his handlers, of the people who have maneuvered and manufactured this pathetic individual's life. 
 When anyone else would quickly and easily produce a birth certificate, this man spent over a million dollars to deny access to his. Most other documents, the paper trail we all leave in our wake, have been sequestered from review. He has lived a make-believe life whose true facts remain hidden. 
We laugh at the ventriloquist's dummy, but what do you do when the dummy is President of the United States.

Expensive organic food isn't healthier and no safer than produce grown with pesticides, finds biggest study of its kind

Stanford University team find no evidence of added health benefits

It comes at a premium price, but it seems organic food may not be worth shelling out for.

Researchers claim it is no more nutritious than food grown using pesticides and chemicals – and won’t benefit your health.

Many people pay as much as a third more for organic food in the belief that it is healthier and safer. However, Dr Dena Bravata and colleagues from Stanford University Medical Centre, California, found no clear evidence of any significant added health benefits.

They also found that there was no guarantee organic food would be pesticide-free – a key attraction for many consumers – though it did have lower levels.

Senior author Dr Bravata said: ‘There isn’t much difference between organic and conventional foods, if you’re an adult and making a decision based solely on your health.’

The results, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine journal, come from the biggest review yet of existing studies comparing the two types of food.  However, UK campaigners said the survey was not equipped to detect real differences.

Researchers sifted through thousands of papers looking into the health benefits of organic food.

The review included studies of people with organic and conventional diets, as well as research into nutrient levels, bacterial, fungal or pesticide contamination.

Researchers found no consistent differences in the vitamin content of various foods. They also found no difference in protein or fat content between organic and conventional milk.

They were also unable to identify specific fruits and vegetables for which organic appeared consistently to be the healthier choice.

Co-researcher Crystal Smith- Spangler, who is also an instructor of medicine at Stanford’s School of Medicine, said: ‘Some believe that organic food is always healthier and more nutritious. We were a little surprised that we didn’t find that.’

The researchers did find organic produce was 30 per cent less likely to be contaminated with pesticides than conventional fruit and vegetables, but not guaranteed to be pesticide-free, while pesticide levels of all foods came within the allowable safety limits.

Two studies of children found lower levels of pesticide residues in the urine of those on organic diets, though for all those studied the levels were below allowable safety thresholds.

A spokesman for the Soil Association said: ‘This US study, of limited application in Europe, found organic food helps people avoid pesticides in their food.

‘However, the scientific methodology used for the review, while suitable for comparing trials of medicines, is not right for comparing different crops.’

Organic farming may not be better for the environment, according to Oxford University scientists.

They found organic milk, cereals, and pork all generated higher greenhouse gas emissions than their conventionally farmed counterparts. Organic beef and olives produced lower emissions.

Yeshiva student shot in Boro-Park

A serious incident of anti-Semitism took place in Borough Park, Brooklyn, New York, last week, when a young yeshiva student was shot and seriously wounded, according to reports in the Israeli news media.

The incident occurred when the boy was standing at the door of the yeshiva, in the early afternoon.

According to eyewitnesses, the shooting came from a building located in front of the yeshiva building, where some non-Jewish families also live.

Police collected evidence from passers-by, and started building their case. After a thorough search conducted in the apartments near the Jewish school building, a man was arrested after a gun was found in his home.

Investigators claimed that the man did not intentionally shoot the Jewish student, as he accidentally fired the weapon. However witnesses said the man pointed the gun at the young student.

Emergency rescue volunteers took the student, who was severely injured, to Maimonides Hospital of Brooklyn located nearby.

Rebbi charged with manslaughter after leaving toddler in hot car

A teacher was arrested last week and charged with manslaughter after leaving a toddler in a hot car until he died.

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court has decided not to extend the remand of a resident of Modiin Illit, suspected of leaving the 4-year-old Chiam Boimel in a car for hours, leading to the boy's death.

Police pleaded with the judge to extend the remand of Nachman Stitzer for five more days on Friday, but the court chose to put him under house arrest. Stitzer, 22, who works as a teacher, is suspected of negligent manslaughter.
The suspect broke down at the hearing.

During the custody hearing the prosecution also charged Stitzer of running an illegal school bus service, when the victim was left in his car.
The prosecution said that "In order to improve his livelihood, the suspect provided transportation to and from school on his way to work. The entire incident was due to negligence.
This is a private car which five or more children between the ages of three to four were transported. Some had seat belts on, others did not."

The suspect said he left the scene assuming that the child was no longer in the car, locked the car with a remote control and kept going.

 The suspect also said he usually goes to his car all day to get cigarettes, unfortunately, this did not happen on the day of the incident, since he had his cigarettes on his person so he did not return to the car all day."

The prosecution said the suspect was cooperating with the investigation and had pleaded guilty to the charges. It was also noted that the suspect "broke down" several times during the investigation.

Bolivia Denies Bail Jacob Ostreicher

A Bolivian court denied bail this morning to Jacob Ostreicher, a Borough Park, Brooklyn resident who has been incarcerated without formal charges for more than a year. The bail hearing lasted nine grueling hours and was spread over two days while Jacob’s mother, a Holocaust survivor, sat through the entire process in the Bolivian courtroom along with her daughter, Jacob’s sister, both weeping uncontrollably.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn), who continues to advocate for Ostreicher, promised to re-double his efforts to set Jaob Ostreicher free.

“It’s inhumane the way Jacob has been treated,” said Assemblyman Hikind. “His human rights have been continually denied, his health is failing, and his family is suffering from his absence and mistreatment. We have to continue to bring attention to this travesty of justice. We have to demonstrate that Jacob Ostreicher’s life and freedom matter.”

The Assemblyman is organizing thousands of synagogues into action on behalf of Jacob Ostreicher this Shabbos, September 1st (14 Elul), Shabbos Ki Teitzei. Hundreds of thousands of Jews across America are expected to join in prayer and follow-up with calls and letters to elected officials.

The National Council of Young Israel, The Orthodox Union (OU) and The Rabbinical Alliance of America have all agreed to publicize Shabbos Ki Teitzei for Jacob Ostreicher to their rabbis, congregations and affiliates. Rabbis across America will be speaking about Ostreicher in their Sabbath addresses and leading special prayers on his behalf. Following the Sabbath, congregational membership will be encouraged to urge their Congressman to adopt Ostreicher’s cause.

“I believe Jacob Ostreicher is fully innocent of all wrong doings,” said Assemblyman Hikind. “Numerous media reports from WABC’s ‘Nightline’ to The Wall Street Journal concur that Jacob is being used as a political football; his family, needlessly traumatized by this on-going nightmare. And now, as feared, Jacob’s very life may be in danger. A college student was the victim of an alleged hate crime where he was beaten unconscious and had his mouth stapled while his attackers made anti-Semitic taunts. 

Zach Tennen, 19, was at a party close to Michigan State University campus in the early hours of Sunday when he was set upon by two men who he said asked if he was Jewish. 

The attackers, who claimed to be Ku Klux Klan, then raised their arms in a Nazi salute, saying 'Heil Hitler' and began hitting the teenager.

However East Lansing police said in a statement on Tuesday that the assault was 'not likely a hate crime'.

Investigators said a potential suspect has been identified. Police did not return calls asking for more details on the attack.

Zach told Local 4 that while he was passed out, the attackers managed to staple through his gums. 

He said: 'It was coming up in my two bottom teeth and it started in my gum, so, somehow they managed to staple it.'

His mother told the Detroit Free Press that around 20 people at the party watched the attack but no one helped her son. He was then thrown out of the party.

The teenager, of Franklin, Michigan, also has a broken jaw below his bottom teeth which will require being set with wire. 

His family contacted the Anti-Defamation League, an organization which fights anti-Semitism, on account of the assault. 

In a statement to MailOnline, ADL Detroit Regional Director Betsy Kellman said: 'We are horrified by this violent assault and allegations that the student may have been viciously attacked because he was Jewish.

We are confident that the East Lansing Police will thoroughly investigate this deeply troubling case and, given the allegations, treat it as a possible hate crime. We hope the perpetrators will be swiftly brought to justice.'

Zach, who graduated from Birmingham Groves High School last year and studies journalism at MSU, said he had drank alcohol at the party but only a small amount. 

After his attackers fled, he called a cab to take him to Lansing Sparrow Hospital.

The hospital did not call the police but said that it was standard policy to alert authorities if someone reported being a victim of assault. Zach later had surgery at a Detroit hospital to have his jaw wired shut.

Michigan State's Student Affairs and Services released this statement: 'Michigan State University's Student Affairs and Services office has reached out to the family of the student assaulted in East Lansing to provide the academic and other support the student needs. 

'MSU will work with the student and his professors to ensure he can fulfill his academic requirements, as we would with any student in need. 

'As the incident occurred off campus in East Lansing, all questions about the police investigation need to go the East Lansing Police Department.'

Crazy Toldos Avraham Rabbi bans Israeli Soldier from davening in Beit Shemesh Shul

Ultra Orthodox Jews again attacked an Orthodox Jewish soldier for his crime of joining the Israeli military.

The Orthodox Jewish IDF soldier was expelled from the Toldos Avraham Yitzchak Synagogue on Monday morning, in a neighborhood in the city of Beit Shemesh, Israel, after appearing for morning services dressed in his army uniform.

The local news media reported that the soldier came to the Synagogue, located on Chaazon Ish Street, around 10 am, looking to join the morning service there, as the Synagogue offers a late morning prayer session.

Before entering the synagogue, he sat outside the building. One of the Synagogue members told the soldier to "keep out."

He explained his warning that since he was wearing the uniform of the "Zionist State Army", he was not allowed entry to the Synagogue, whose members are ardent supporters of an anti-Zionist ideology.

The soldier, who was surprised by the strong order, obeyed.

However, a few minutes later, when he discovered that there was another prayer service being held at this late hour, he entered the Synagogue to pray. At this point, he was attacked by a man who

shouted: "Leave immediately you tainted soul,” as spectators stood by and did not come to the soldier’s aid.

The soldier, trying to avoid further embarrassment, went outside where he finished the morning prayers.
Condemnations were quick to come from all over the country for such a gross disrespect of a soldier in uniform. All he did was he wanted to pray to God.

The soldier, 27, is married and the father of two children.

The 600 Jewish rabbis that support Obama are "Israel Haters"

Obama proudly announced the support of more than 600 Jewish rabbis last week. However a closer look at those 600 rabbis reveals that quite a few of them a vehemently opposed to the Jewish state.

The reason behind Obama’s launch of "Rabbis for Obama” is an initiative to get more Jewish support for the president in the next election.

What has recently come to light, however, is that the list of more than 600 rabbis, many of whom are Reform, Conservative and female and therefore not considered as rabbis by the Orthodox Jewish community also includes many blatantly anti-Israeli figures, which align with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel.

Lynn Gottlieb, for example, met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and sits on the board of Jewish Voice for Peace, an organization that has been listed as one of the "Top Ten Anti-Israel groups" by the Anti-Defamation League.

According to the ADL, JVP "Calls for an end of U.S. aid to Israel, accuses Israel of apartheid policies, and supports divestment campaigns against Israel.” Like other Jewish anti-Zionist groups, JVP uses its Jewish identity to protect the anti-Israel accusations of anti-Semitism and provide a greater degree of credibility to their anti-Israel stance. JVP activists regularly attend anti-Israel events with shirts and posters that proudly spread their Jewish identity.

During March and April 2010, JVP leaders

unsuccessfully pushed for the passage of a divestment resolution at the University of California, Berkeley, aimed at companies that do business with Israel.

Another name on the list, Chava Bahle, a member of "14 Friends of Palestine", an organization that advocated to condemn Israel for the flotilla incident in Gaza in 2010 and falsely accuses Israel of preventing food and medical supplies to Gaza.
Another name on the list, Aruthur Waskow, is associated with the Council of American Islamic Relations, an organization that is also on the ADL list of the most anti-Israel groups.
