Nobel Prize-Winning Physicist Resigns! Disgusted Over Official Policy that "global warming" is occuring!

The global warming theory left him out in the cold.

Dr. Ivar Giaever, a former professor with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the 1973 winner of the Nobel Prize in physics, abruptly announced his resignation Tuesday, Sept. 13, from the premier physics society in disgust over its officially stated policy that "global warming is occurring."

The official position of the American Physical Society (APS) supports the theory that man's actions have inexorably led to the warming of the planet, through increased emissions of carbon dioxide.

Giaever does not agree -- and put it bluntly and succinctly in the subject line of his email, reprinted at Climate Depot, a website devoted to debunking the theory of man-made climate change.

"I resign from APS," Giaever wrote.

Giaever was cooled to the statement on warming theory by a line claiming that "the evidence is incontrovertible."

"In the APS it is ok to discuss whether the mass of the proton changes over time and how a multi-universe behaves, but the evidence of global warming is incontrovertible?" he wrote in an email to Kate Kirby, executive officer of the physics society. 

"The claim … is that the temperature has changed from ~288.0 to ~288.8 degree Kelvin in about 150 years, which (if true) means to me is that the temperature has been amazingly stable, and both human health and happiness have definitely improved in this 'warming' period," his email message said.

A spokesman for the APS confirmed to FoxNews.com that the Nobel Laureate had declined to pay his annual dues in the society and had resigned. He also noted that the society had no plans to revise its statement.

The use of the word "incontrovertible" had already caused debate within the group, so much so that an addendum was added to the statement discussing its use in April, 2010.

"The word 'incontrovertible' ... is rarely used in science because by its very nature, science questions prevailing ideas. The observational data indicate a global surface warming of 0.74 °C (+/- 0.18 °C) since the late 19th century."

Giaever earned his Nobel for his experimental discoveries regarding tunneling phenomena in superconductors. He has since become a vocal dissenter from the alleged “consensus” regarding man-made climate fears, Climate Depot reported, noting that he was one of more than 100 co-signers of a 2009 letter to President Obama critical of his position on climate change.

Public perception of climate change has steadily fallen since late 2009. A Rasmussen Reports public opinion poll from August noted that 57 percent of adults believe there is significant disagreement within the scientific community on global warming, up five points from late 2009.

The same study showed that 69 percent of those polled believe it’s at least somewhat likely that some scientists have falsified research data in order to support their own theories and beliefs. Just 6 percent felt confident enough to report that such falsification was "not at all likely."

Appeals Court Denies Rubashkin New Trial

St. Louis, MO - A federal appeals court has denied a former Postville meatpacking executive’s request for a new trial, saying he failed to show the judge in the case was unfairly biased in favor of the prosecution.

Rubashkin’s case and long sentence drew national attention, including from six former U.S. attorneys general who voiced concern about his treatment.

His lawyers said U.S. District Judge Linda Reade should have stepped aside from his trial because she cooperated closely with prosecutors before the immigration raid, showing bias against the plant’s owners.

The appeals court in St. Louis ruled this morning that Rubashkin failed to show Reade was required to recuse herself from the fraud trial.

“Our approach is consistent with that of the Supreme Court, which has held that recusal is not necessarily required even after a district court has expressed ‘impatience, dissatisfaction, annoyance, and even anger’ toward a party. There is nothing like that in this record,” the appeals court wrote.

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky

In a interview with Chicago’s Don Wade & Roma radio show this morning, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky claimed that Americans aren’t entitled to all of their own money.

Toward the end of a wide-ranging interview, the hosts played a clip from this week’s Republican Presidential Debate where California teenager Tyler Hinsley asked, “Of every dollar that I earn, how much do you think I deserve to keep?” Co-host Don Wade asked Schakowsky to answer the same question.

After some initial back-and-forth, she replied, “I’ll put it this way, you don’t deserve to keep all of it. It’s not a question of deserving, because what government is, is those things that we decide to do together.”

Despite the hosts’ persistence, Schakowsky declined to answer what percentage of a person’s income they deserved to keep. “I pay at a 35% tax rate, happy to do it,” she explained when the hosts persisted with their question. She again declined to say how much more she would personally be willing to pay.

But Rep. Schakowsky is not alone. Her views are sadly typical of a liberal worldview that sees a person’s earnings as belonging first to the state. In fact, the left is now doubling down on this misguided belief, with the President pushing for more stimulus spending despite the failures of earlier “stimulus.”

But while the left continues to promote the same failed policies—more taxes, more regulation, more big government—conservatives need to trumpet the benefits of low taxes, sensible regulations, and small government. As Heritage’s Dubay explains:

The best way to grow revenues is to promote faster economic growth, which will increase the number of taxpayers and taxable income more rapidly. Tax hikes—whether through higher tax rates or slashing credits, deductions, and exemptions without offsetting reductions elsewhere—will not do the job. Under President Obama’s current policies, spending will continue to grow at a faster rate than can be paid for by tax hikes—even assuming the huge tax increases the President insists upon. To add insult to injury, as history has shown, tax hikes would slow economic growth and make it even harder for unemployed Americans to find a job

Egypt Will Not Export Any Lulavim ! Big Shortage Anticipated

The growing tensions between Israel and Egypt may affect the Yom Tov of Sukkos this year.
According to a report on IDF Army Radio on Wednesday, Egypt has decided not to export Lulavim to Israel for Sukkos this year. The report said that the reason cited for the decision is the deterioration in ties between the two countries.
The Yom Tov of Sukkos begins in just four weeks, on the evening of Wednesday, October 12.
Egypt is the central exporter of Lulavim to Eretz Yisroel, and provides about half a million palm fronds annually, the general demand being 600 to 700 thousand Lulavim. IDF Radio said that export of Lulavim to the Jewish communities in the United States and Europe has also stopped.
The report said that the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture has announced that Egypt’s decision is expected to result in an increase in the price of Lulavim for Israelis this year. The Ministry reportedly said it tried to negotiate with the Egyptian authorities to get them to change their minds, but they stubbornly refused.
The Ministry will try to ensure that there is a steady supply of Lulavim at reasonable prices, mainly by increasing financial assistance to Israeli palm growers.
IDF Radio said that other alternative sources to import palm fronds are being examined, among them Jordan and Spain. The report said that Israel is even looking at the possibility of importing Lulavim from the Gaza Strip to meet demand without significantly raising the price.
Last year, Egypt also banned the export of lulavim, but did so three and a half months before Sukkos and not four weeks before Sukkos.The reason given for the ban last year was that Egypt sought to protect its 12 million palm trees which it felt were being decimated by the large number of Lulavim exported.

Year 2011! Chassidic Rabbis ban phones, computers, internet! Chassidim will now never know of all the abuse and corruption in their communites!

A special Vaad Ruchniyos has been established in the Sanzer Chassidic community in Eretz Yisrael, in Kiryat Sanz in Netanya. This vaad made make critical decisions pertaining to the use of computers and technological wonders. The members of this vaad were appointed by the Rebbe Shlita and they decided what electronic gadgetry and technological advances will be deemed acceptable.The regulations will be sent to each and every home, along with a form that every chossid must sign, committing to adhere to the regulations. The forms signed by parents will be returned to the mosdos of the chassidus.Some excerpts from the new Rules and Regulations:

COMPUTERS

One not requiring a computer for earning a living may not have one in one’s home.

A computer must be locked to prevent children from using it
No computer games
Regarding laptops, no Internet connectivity and this will be done by technicians hired by the vaad to ensure this feature is disabled. The technician will then have to submit a signed form attesting to this.
A computer may not be used by children under any circumstances.

Suggestion: One who requires a computer for work, or to write chidushei Torah should try to leave it elsewhere, other than at home.

Anyone with a computer for reasons other than mentioned, the children will be banned from mosdos chinuch.

No information may be used from the Internet, even towards educating the children. To eliminate the need for seminary students to maintain a computer at home, specified computer access hours will be set in school for those females learning a profession. This computer room will be in the mosdos, not at home.

INTERNET – EMAIL

The use of the Internet and/or email is prohibited, even towards earning a living. Those who absolutely require access must apply to receive a special dispensation in writing from the members of the vaad. The vaad members include HaRav HaGaon Mordechai Barnett, HaRav HaGaon Yitzchak Shimon and HaRav HaGaon Mordechai Levinstein.

Efforts will be made to limit access to email but in cases deemed absolutely necessary, access to approved websites will be granted. This will be done in cooperation with the vaad, principals and directors of mosdos. The latter will be responsible that the computers in the mosdos have only the approved limited access.

MOBILE PHONES

The use of any non-kosher phones, including Blackberry® and iPhone® or phones similar in abilities is prohibited with the exception of those who receive a written ruling from the vaad stating otherwise.

Even those with kosher phones, it goes without saying that their use must not be in public, using the example of one permitted to eat on Yom Kippur, must do so in private. Ditto for the mobile phones – anyone in violation of these rules will lose their “license” to have the phone.

VIDEOS – MOVIES

Gedolei Yisrael have already ruled and viewing movies, even those labeled “chareidi”, “educational” or “censored” is prohibited. Viewing family movies is permitted b’dieved, only “time to time” such as during bein hazmanim and a parent must be present to supervise.

DVDs are prohibited under any and all circumstances.
PLAYERS (MP4)

Gedolei Yisrael have already ruled and they have prohibited MP4 players.

Parents are strongly advised to giving much thought to permitting the use of a MP3 despite the fact that on the surface, they are innocent. Without constant supervision, one cannot imagine what content may be placed on them and to where they may lead. Therefore it is incumbent upon parents to remain vigilant and cautious regarding the use of MP3s for children.

If parents permit it, they are obligated to check units from time-to-time to validate the content. It is also advised to be cautious and permit authorized technicians to check the units from time-to-time.

An MP3 must be disabled that it can no longer serve as a radio as well.

DISK ON KEY

The children may not have such a device. Seminary students who require one for their studies must receive special permission from the school’s principal and director.

NEWSPAPERS

Baruch Hashem in our community there is no need to warn regarding the threat of secular newspapers. There is a need however to warn of the new and growing trend, the spreading of news by various means, radio, telephone lines (cellular and regular), flyers, and other free handouts circulating in the frum community.

In addition to the bitul zman aspect and the waste of money, these items are usually void of worthwhile content and simply not suited for our tzibur, with many introducing foreign hashkofos which are not acceptable to our way of life.

Therefore, each home must set its guidelines as to what may be brought home regarding newspapers, circulars, flyers, pictures and the like. One may not listen to the radio and all appliances capable of serving as a radio must have this component disabled. One must not listen to the news, including the chareidi news delivered by phone.

HOME PHONES

We are all aware that today, these phones may serve as vehicles towards introducing unwanted content into our lives. As such, the vaad has reached agreement with Bezeq to enable us to offer a “clean line”, blocking access to dubious numbers.

Every home must do this for every phone line to prevent the phone serving as a michshol.

A bookstore in the ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Mea She’arim, which has been struggling with violence from a mafia-style “Purity Committee” that objects to their English and Zionist books, was attacked once again early on Wednesday morning.


 Marlene Samuels, the manager of Or Hachaim/Manny’s Bookstore, found the outer windows of the shop smashed for the fifth time since the store’s opening in March 2010, and the second time in less than a week. Radicals from the fringe anti-Zionist Sikrikim group have also glued its locks shut, thrown tar and fish oil at it and dumped bags of human excrement inside the store.
 Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said the police had received a complaint and opened an investigation. He added that the police are using intelligence gathered from a wide range of sources to try to stop the violence against the store.The harassment of the bookstore stems from the bookstore’s refusal to accept demands made by the Sikrikim, a group of 60-100 extremists in Mea She’arim which demands all businesses observe specific “modesty standards.”At Or Hachaim, the Sikrikim’s demands include putting up a sign asking customers to dress modestly and removing all English-language and Zionist books. Two weeks ago, owners of the store met with Sikrikim representatives to try to stop the violence, but no solution was found.
 “Their list is too long, they want every English book out, they want the store, that’s the bottom line,” said Samuels.“Nothing good enough for them, and we can’t take out the English books, we won’t have a business.” She complained that the police have not helped them try to find the culprits, despite security camera footage that clearly shows the men breaking the windows. Samuels said they had considered putting up steel shutters on the building to protect the glass, but she worried the Sikrikim would find a way to destroy that as well. “The only thing left to do is beat these people up,” a frustrated Samuels said on Wednesday, the second time in less than two weeks that all of the store’s outer windows have been broken.
 “Just find these people and beat them to a pulp. They’re cowards and only violence will quiet them down.” 
Samuels said that other store owners suffering from similar abuse had hired vigilantes to stop the violence and been successful, though she doubted that the owners of Or Hachaim/Manny’s would do that. Many of the other stores in the neighborhood have acquiesced to the Sikrikim’s demands, though they complain of the “mafia-like” control the small group of extremists wield over the area. Until the Post published an article a week or so ago about this, police had done nothing to stop the violence against the store, and were quoted publicly as saying they had no idea the violence was happening, while denying anyone had made police reports about it. Suddenly there's publicity – sunlight, so to speak, and the police now claim to be investigating. Security camera video exists showing these thugs breaking windows of the store and trashing it. The names of most of these thugs are known. But Israel's crack police department claims it does not know those names or recognize those faces, and so it "investigates." This is a lot like Israel's claim that it could not find Hosam Amara when the US wanted him extradited, even though Amara was living openly in his home and his address and phone number were known.The cops don't want to fight with the Sicariim or Edah Charedit, so they're throwing the bookstore, its owners and the other effected shopkeepers and stores under the bus.They are enabling haredi violence.

Weingarten Re-Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison

A Monsey rabbi convicted of molesting his juvenile daughter has been resentenced to 30 years in federal prison — the same penalty he received before his successful appeal.

Israel Weingarten, 61, was convicted in March 2009 of five counts involving sexual abuse by a jury in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn. He's in federal prison. Jurors found he took his daughter out of the United States to Israel and Belgium for the purpose of sexually abusing her during the spring and summer of 1997. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in January tossed one of the five convictions against Weingarten and ordered him to be resentenced. The count involved Weingarten's travel from Belgium to Israel with his daughter. The law requires the travel to be from or to the U.S. On Monday, Judge John Gleeson re-sentenced Weingarten to 30 years on the four counts.During the trial, his daughter, then 27; a son; and their mother testified against Weingarten and underwent questioning from him. Two other daughters testified on his behalf and accused their mother of molesting their older sister.

Jewish Lady Taken Off Plane and Strip Searched For No Reason!

An Ohio woman said Tuesday that she endured nearly four hours in police custody that included being forced off an airplane in handcuffs, strip-searched and interrogated at Detroit's airport on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks – all, she believes, because of her Middle Eastern appearance.

Shoshana Hebshi, 35, told The Associated Press she was one of three people removed from a Denver-to-Detroit Frontier Airlines flight after landing Sunday afternoon. Authorities say fighter jets escorted the plane after its crew reported that two people were spending a long time in a bathroom – the two men sitting next to Hebshi in the 12th row.

Hebshi said she didn't notice how many times the men went to the bathroom. "I wasn't keeping track," she said.

"I really wasn't paying attention," said Hebshi, a freelance writer, editor and stay-at-home mother of twin six-year-old boys who lives in a suburb of Toledo, Ohio. "I was minding my own business – sleeping, reading, playing on my phone."

The FBI has said the three didn't know each other. One man felt ill and got up to use the restroom and another man in the same row also left his seat to go to the bathroom. The FBI said they never were inside together.

Hebshi, who describes herself as half-Arabic, half-Jewish with a dark complexion, told the AP after they landed, she noticed police first surrounding, then storming the plane. She said she was surprised when they stopped at her row and ordered her and the men to get up.

Hebshi has written extensively on her blog about the incident, saying she felt "violated, humiliated and sure that I was being taken from the plane simply because of my appearance."

Her Twitter posts from Sunday bear that out. At one point, she wrote: "A little concerned about this situation. Plane moved away from terminal surrounded by cops. Crew is mum. Passengers can't get up."

It's then that she says the officers ordered her and the men, whom she described as Indian, to get up.

Later she wrote, "I see stairs coming our way...yay!" Her last post said, "Majorly armed cops coming aboard."

She said she was patted down and taken by car to a holding cell. A uniformed female officer eventually came in and told Hebshi to take off her clothes.

After the strip search, another officer who identified herself as a Homeland Security agent led Hebshi to another room, Hebshi said. There, a man who identified himself as an FBI agent asked her a series of questions while a female agent took notes, Hebshi said.

Hebshi said that when she asked what was going on, the male agent told her someone on the plane reported that she and the men on her row were "conducting suspicious activity."

FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold said the three passengers were questioned but not arrested before the FBI determined there was no reason to suspect or hold them. She also said FBI agents who questioned the passengers were not involved in any strip searches.

"We received a report of suspicious activity on that particular plane," Berchtold said. "We did not arrest ... these passengers. ... We didn't direct anybody to arrest them."

Airport police are under the supervision of the Wayne County Airport Authority, which operates Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

Hebshi said that finally, after being fingerprinted and allowed to call her husband, she was told she and the men were being released and that nothing suspicious was found on the plane. She said an official apologized and thanked her for understanding and cooperating.

In an email to the AP, agency spokesman Scott Wintner said airport police "responded appropriately by following protocol and treating everyone involved with respect and dignity. "

Hebshi said she received another call of apology from an FBI agent Monday, before she wrote her blog post.

"I can understand they were just doing their job," she told the AP. "My beef is with these laws and regulations that are so hypersensitive. ... Even if you're an innocent bystander, you have no rights."

AP left email and phone messages seeking comment Tuesday night with Frontier.

The flight was one of two for which fighter jets were scrambled Sunday after crews reported suspicious activity on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, officials said. In both cases, it involved bathroom use. In neither case did authorities find anything to substantiate the suspicions.
