Ironically, the majority of "Magedei Shiur" of the Daf Ha'Yomi and shiurim in Mishnayois, are not Roshei Yeshiva at all, and not Rabbanim, but ordinary "baalei-batim" In fact, attend any given shul and I'll bet there is a baal-boooos giving a well attended shiur! Speaking for Beit Shemesh where I live, the ones giving the Daf Yoimi are ALL baalei-batim!
In Yeshivois, I remember, when the Rebbe or Rosh Yeshiva wanted to belittle or mock you or even curse you, they would yell "What's going to become of you? You will becaome a "baal-booooooooos"
They mocked the very people that supported them!
But now, in the last decade, a major threat has come from the ""baal-booooooooos" camp, they are the biggest "marbeitzei torah" and have the largest followings.
Those baalei-batim learning the daf have finished Shas multiple times and have become bigger Talmedei chachamim than most Roshei Yeshiva and are "baki be'shas upoiskim"
I was recently at a shiur given by a known Rosh Yeshiva who was discussing Hichos Shabbos and he quoted a Mogein Avraham, when one of the participants, a regular daf-yoimi goer, a pashuteh baal-ha'boooooooos" said out loud, "there is no such Mogein Avraham", it turned out that the RY misquoted a pri-megadim ( a pirush on the מגן אברהם) that actually was the total opposite of what the RY wanted to convey!
And this irks the "oilom ha'yeshiva!" The hated baalei-batim are becoming a threat to them! Which if you think about it, is very silly & childish but this is really the mentality of the Yeshivishe ama-ratzim!
So they are now attacking Reb Eli who has brought tens of thousands to Torah, some of whom never opened a sefer in their lives!
Instead of praising him, they are attacking him! And this what is going on in the "oilom ha'torah" in the Chardeie communities!

His answer was with Respect and Humility No defensiveness, No counter‑criticism, And only focused on Torah and unity!
It was one of the most dignified responses in recent Torah‑world controversies.

There are issues raised against learning daf yomi altogether. There are issues with everything.
Try consuming less MDY videos. It's muddling your brain.
Reb Eli is doing a great job that none of the Rabbonim are willing or able to do, therefore I can understand their frustration.
Remember even adverse publicity is better than no publicity, many more will join the Shiur.
At some point, how and what you learn replaced just learning.

As I wrote and your comment confirms it, the Roshei Yeshiva are in a panic and are threatened by this new crop of Marbetzei Torah who are extremely knowledgeable and have the ability, yes, through AI to really break down the most difficult sugyas in shas and be "masbir" for the hamoin am with ease the gemarras better than any rambling and incoherent Roshei Yeshiva, and that's why they are screaming against this!
Because now finally, after 2,000 years, every single Jew can grasp the most difficult sugya in Shas, thanks to these baalei batim !
Any Baal Haboooooooooos knows the sugya better than any kvetcher in the yeshivas. This has been proven time and again!
Many baal-batim have completed Shas multiple times and have knowledge of all the different sugyas in the entire shas, something the typical Yeshiva Bocher and kollel guy has no clue!
Let me tell you something else, in Monsey there was a great ball player who started learning the Daf Yoimi with Rav Chatzkel Horowitz, he subsequently gave the Daf himself in Rav Haber's shul and then he gave the Yerushalmi Daf. This guy was a businessman all his life yet he gave the Daf to a well-attended group and finished Shas multiple times and finished Yerushalmi multiple times.
He is not a Rabbi, not a Rosh Yeshiva but a shaven pusihter Yid

First of all the Satmar Rav;s book on gimmel shevuos has been totally debunked and he himself later in his book "Shimie Dvar Hashem" says that it doesn't apply by a "yochid" that every Jew has an obligation to make Aliyah, though he didn't listen to his own psak! Typical!

Without getting into the specifics of this issue, the idea that no one ever heard of R’ Cohen is ridiculous. His sefarim (חלקת בנימין) are well regarded among people who learn Yoreh Dei’a in a serious manner.
