THE DARKEI EMORI FIRE DANCE
Dancing in front of a fire would be an איסור דאורייתא of ובחקתיהם לא תלכו.
Some might claim that dancing in front of a fire in Miron is an accepted מנהג בישראל, and they will argue that it can’t be wrong when you have thousands of Yidden & Rebbes dancing around the fire.
The same argument was probably also used when there were thousands of Yidden worshipping the עגל הזהב.
The תוספתא (Shabbos 7:1) enumerates practices that are אסור to do because they are considered דרכי אמורי.
One of them is clapping or dancing in front of a fire.
Perhaps, those planning to dance in front of the fire should consult their מורה הוראה if this איסור דאורייתא is no longer applicable today, and why not?

Lag Baomer compendium
1) According to ר' מנחם החברוני (13th century) רשב"י is buried in Kfar Chananya (15 km. south of Meron)
2) According to the חיד"א, there is no מקור anywhere that רשב"י was niftar on Lag Baomer
3) The first mention of רשב"י Yahrzeit on ל:ג בעומר is the controversial ספר חמדת הימים
4) According to the יעב"ץ, (The Chasam Sofer seems to agree) R. Moishe d'Leon (not רשב"י), wrote the זהר
5) According to many Poskim, the תלמידי ר' עקיבא still died on ל"ג בעומר but stopped on the 34th day of the עומר.
6) The מדרש says it was only 300 Talmidim who died. The גמרא (Yevamos 62) says 12,000 pairs of Talmidim died.
7) The גמרא says they all died of a disease called אסכרה. According to Harav Hagaon Y. Henkin zt"l and others, the גמרא uses אסכרה as a code for getting killed fighting the Romans.
8) The שואל ומשיב 5 - 39 writes, "If you distribute the money to עניי ארץ ישראל instead of spending it to go to his קבר etc., he guarantees רשב"י will have much more נחת רוח.
9) According to the Chasam Sofer,ל"ג בעומר celebration has nothing to do with רשב"י
10) According to the Chasam Sofer, the only ל"ג בעומר celebration is קצת שמחה of not saying תחנון
11) According to the מנחת אלעזר ח"ד:ס.the ל"ג בעומר celebration is strictly a מנהג ארץ ישראל Celebrating in חוץ לארץ is onsidered strange & arrogant. כזרות יחשב וכיוהרא
12) When the מנחת אלעזר was in Eretz Yisrael during ל"ג בעומר he spent the night in צפת, not willing to celebrate in Meron together with the Zionists.
13) The תוספתא (Shabbos 7:1) says clapping hands or dancing in front of a fire is אסור because of דרכי אמורי.
14) In the ספרים of the previous generations, they only mention of מרבים בנרות (festive) and not the מדורה
15) Years ago, they had women dancing in Meron on Lag Baomer לכבוד התנא רשב"י
16) Originally, the pilgrimage to Meron for the first 350 years was done on פסח שני and not on ל"ג בעומר
17) Originally, the celebration was held at the cave of בית שמאי & בית הלל at a later date it was changed to רשב"י
18) Originally, it was only Muslim women who burned their clothes לכבוד רשב"י. The Yidden later adopted this controversial Minhag.
19) It's not the lighting of the fire that's done לכבוד רשב"י It's the burning of the expensive clothes that is done לכבוד רשב"י
20) The Chasam Sofer in the פתיחה to סדר נזיקין writes, the Yeshiva started learning מס' בבא קמא on Lag Baomer. גל עיני ואביטה נפלאות מתורתך stands for the 3 בבות & their 30 פרקים
21) Rav Elyashiv Zt"l said that דעת תורה is not to travel to Meron ל"ג בעומר ------------------------------- |

what a silly post, you know each point you made is flawed. ive never gone to meron lag baaomer or even attended a fire. but the stench of lies and slander in your post is worse than the burnt smell post lag baomoer

I'm prepared to give you space and your own post on DIN, to refute what you call a "silly" post!
I love these guys, they criticizse a post but can't for the life of them stand behind what they wrote!
So I challenge to refute point by point this "silly" post!
So the great Tzadikim of OUR generation Lubabitcher Rebbe Satmar Rebbe etc...all didnt understand your deep understanding of ל"ג בעומר Naturally only the people who cynically attack this holy tradition understand it.Furthemore the lack of respect for other traditions is always couched in underlying negativity and attack. Quoting sources, that agree with your point of view, is not proving anything. And only leads to others who are ignorant of any facts, believing that attacking such a holy institution, is the right way to perceive the issue. None of us need your presence at the holy sight. But the jewish people could use a calmer head in discussing such holy event. If this was about celebrating israeli independence day, you would conveniently quote all the rabbis agreeing with your position and somehow not feel the same about those who felt differently. Far from me to know what goes on in the highest of heaven. But my perception is when you attack something that has the ingredients of togetherness, love and deep connection to the one above. You are not dancing in front of the fire. You are playing with fire.
I looked up the Tosefta and nowhere does it discuss dancing and clapping around a fire.
DIN = Jew hater. Any way to disqualify any jew not your color is justified. Wow
# 7 is quite appropriate for this day and age.
It seems in the days of Reb Akiva, the Tziyoin also ‘drafted’ the Yeshivah guys into the army.
Unfortunately there was no Peleg Batlanim in those days to block all traffic and cause those Tziyoinim heartaches, as they do today successfully.

Listen buddy,
The Lubavitcher Rebbe had a parade he never had a fire! The Satmar Rebbe, Reb Yoilish never had a fire either, and only had a tisch!
In fact, for years R' Aaron would bark against going to Miron and the "medura" but when most of the bochrim left to Israel for Lag Baomer he had no choice and caved!
Your comment hasn't refuted anything from this post and your "proof" of the Lubavtcher and Satmar rebbes are wrong!
8:13
First of all I didn't write this post, I just copied and pasted it
Second of all... why am I hater? Because you want to continue living a lie" So go live it, I'm not stopping you!
All this hate mail is because they are intellectually dishonest in Limud Hatorah. The entire Torah Shebalpeh is loaded with Machlokes and there is no need for hate for opinions that you don't believe to be true. (Kefirah excepted)
All I did was quote R Menachem Hachevroni, Tha Yaavetz, The Midrash, Rav Henkin,The Shoel Umeishiv, The Chida, The Chasam Sofer,The Minchas Elozor, Rav Elyashiv, The Shevet Halevi and The Tosefta (Ms Shabbos Perek 7 :1
The Anonymous person who claims he looked up the Tosefta and there is no such discussion in the Tosefta must be a Liar, an Am Haaretz or both
Moishe Friedman
A gohr groyseh יישר כחך to R. Friedman for writing that great and so important post, and E-mailim BaTorah, and a yasher koyach to DIN for sharing it!
