A Heartfelt בקשה from Rav Zalman Sorotzkin- בית מדרש לוצק
Please daven for a Yid like me and you who made a horrible mistake by driving under the influence and needs רחמי שמים.
His sentencing is today. He's facing 5-10 years in state prison R"L
*מרדכי בן שרה רינה*
מי שמרחם על אכזרים לסוף נעשה אכזר על רחמנים
Just in the past two years many innocents were killed by drivers under the influence yet this Sorotzkin is fighting that this guy not face jail!
How insane is this??

It might depend on how much money this rotzeiach gives the rebbele
none of the lakewood Rabbonim, tumlers, roshei yeshiva, askonim, etc. just don't give a damn- did they stop all of toiamehas, eliminate all of the schnaps by kidush's, by vorts, shabbos get togethers, chasuinahs, bar mitzvahs, sheva brochos, etc.
In the metro NY area Lakewood became known as the "Town of fressers", high end restaurants, party planners, fancy high end affairs, high end donuts, meat boards, fish boards, etc. Shame on Lakewood oilum.
The point of jail is to reform the offender and to deter others and that’s what he did! So what’s the point to lock up someone at the tax payer’s expense of upto $1,000,000?!
The teffilos were not focused on him getting off the hook they were for a lenient sentence, which is justified by the fact that he went in public and made a major awareness about drink driving which shows the judge that 1- he is remorseful for his horrible decision while cost someone’s life and 2- that he directly caused a major awareness which hopefully will lead to others learning from his terrible decision and not make such a mistake saving others lives in the future. Calling him an אכזר is unjustified. Yes he made a terrible and disastrous decision which killed someone but he clearly shows remorse.
In the area of when someone helps others learn from their bad decision there is precident for a more lenient judgement
Ooooooh a half story let's twist to make someone look bad

We all know the entire story, he drank and drove and murdered a mother of children!
Achzer
I will have a post on this later today!
No one in the days of the Bais Hamikdash got off if he murdered someone; he had to go to Golus!
I didn't call him an עכזור I called Sorotzkin an עכזור, he is, according to the Torah a רוצח
He murdered a mother of children!
The original Lakewood crowd had the town hijacked from them & ruined by a flood of Hungarians from Boro Park & watered down Hungarians from Flatbush
The way DIN spelled achzor in Ivrit I thought for a moment was achbor. Was that on purpose to lend more than one description lol?
Zalmi Sorotzkin is a side point in this. If anyone didn’t realize until now what a kuved zucher moron Margareten is, this story is Exhibit A. There is a site rightly beating up on Margareten for his idiotic press release on the Berkowitz sentencing
Whilst, this is your personal blog, you run it like a dictatorship, where disagreement is always met with name calling, shaming and many other actions similar to an agree kindergarten bully. Grow up!
No one is denying that, but jail time is a waste. He’s no longer a danger to society. Make him compensate $, not by wasting life!!
Anonymous 9:41, you answered your own question. You wrote the "D" word -- deter! If making an example of Berky deters just one person from driving varshikkered and killing someone, then the million dollar cost over the six years is money well spent.
[I note also that in addition to reformation and deterrence, two other purposes of jail are retribution and restraint. Though many (including myself and the late Judge Horace Stern, who later became the first Jewish Chief Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court) question the validity of retribution, a person locked up in prison will be restrained from driving a car on the roads while intoxicated and killing innocent people.].

Yes it's my blog but before you pummel me why don't you first read the comments?
I am known to be a very "nice guy" but once you step on my toes I'll fight back!
Step on toes aka don’t agree with the school yard kid.
You should go to the I’d.
You missed the part about driving 90 in a 35 zone
