“I am completely shocked, heartbroken and devastated today. It feels unreal to even write these words. I met Charlie when he was just 18 years old, so eager and determined that I told a friend right then, this kid is going to be the head of the Republican Party one day.
Charlie became even greater than that. He built the most important conservative political movement in America. But beyond politics, Charlie was a man of faith, conviction and decency. He lived his biblical values and never backed down from speaking truth.
We will all miss him deeply. I cannot imagine the pain of his young, beautiful family, and I call on everyone to pray for them. Now it is on us to pick up the torch where Charlie left it — to fight for the principles he believed in, to fight for a stronger America where good people can speak the truth without fear of a bullet.
