French President Emmanuel Macron said the U.S. decision to deny visas to Palestinian Authority officials ahead of the UN General Assembly was “unacceptable” and must be reversed under the UN host country agreement.
Writing on X — including a version in Arabic — Macron announced that he and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will co-chair a Conference on the Two-State Solution in New York on September 22.
Macron said the goal is to rally global support for two states, calling for a permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages, massive humanitarian aid, and a Gaza stabilization mission. He added that Hamas must be disarmed and excluded from governance, while the PA is reformed and strengthened, and Gaza fully rebuilt.
“No offensive, annexation attempt, or forced displacement will derail the momentum we have created,” Macron said, vowing the conference will be a “decisive turning point for peace and security.”
