The Man Behind The Last Days Of Adolf Eichmann

I was very young on that May day in 1960, helping my Auschwitz survivor mother in the kitchen when the radio announced:

“The Nazi war criminal the architect of the “Final Solution” is in Israel and will stand trial.”

As our once large family lost 98 percent of its members to Adolf Eichmann’s death trains to Auschwitz, my mom’s first tearful, then angry, reaction was simply indescribable.

That moment will never leave my soul.

In May 1960, Argentina was celebrating the 150th anniversary of its revolution against Spain, and many tourists were traveling to Argentina from abroad to attend the festivities. The Mossad used the opportunity to smuggle a team of experienced agents into the country as a Jewish-born German prosecutor, Fritz Bauer from the city of Hessen, passed information to Israel that Eichmann was hiding in Buenos Aires under the alias Ricardo Clement.

Knowing that Argentina might never extradite Eichmann for trial, Israel had decided to abduct him and take him to Israel illegally.

On May 11, a crack team of hand-picked Mossad operatives descended on Garibaldi Street in San Fernando and under the supervision of legendary operative Raffi Eitan Mossad legend Peter Zvi Malkin physically captured Eichmann as he was walking from the bus to his home. The operation was directed by then-head of the Mossad Isser Harel. (Years later, several members of the capture team-related details of the operation to me personally.)

Eichmann’s family called local hospitals but not the police, and Argentina knew nothing of the operation.

On May 20, a drugged Eichmann was flown out of Argentina disguised as an Israeli airline worker who had suffered head trauma in an accident.

On May 23, Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion announced to the world that Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann has been captured and would stand trial in Israel.

Eichmann, the Nazi SS officer who organized Adolf Hitler’s “final solution of the Jewish question,” was by then in the hands of an Israel Police captain, the German-speaking Avner Less, and interrogators in Israel’s maximum-security Ramla prison.

For nine months, Less served as Eichmann’s interrogator, questioning him daily for a total of 275 hours. He was the only investigator allowed to speak to Eichmann. The transcripts of the interrogation were forwarded to prosecutors. In 1961, Less testified and was cross-examined at Eichmann’s trial. Extracts from the interrogation of Eichmann by Less have been published in the 1983 book “Eichmann Interrogated.”

Argentina demanded Eichmann’s return, but Israel argued that his status as an international war criminal gave them the right to proceed with a trial. On April 11, 1961, Eichmann’s trial began in Jerusalem.

It was the first televised trial in history.

In his opening speech at the trial Attorney General Gideon Hausner said: “When I stand before you here, Judges of Israel, to lead the prosecution of Adolf Eichmann, I am not standing alone. With me are 6 million accusers. But they cannot rise to their feet and point an accusing finger towards him who sits in the dock and cry: “I accuse!” For their ashes are piled up on the hills of Auschwitz and the fields of Treblinka, and are strewn in the forests of Poland. Their graves are scattered throughout the length and breadth of Europe. Their blood cries out, but their voice is not heard. Therefore, I will be their spokesman, and, in their name, I will unfold the terrible indictment.”

Eichmann faced 15 charges, including crimes against humanity, crimes against the Jewish people and war crimes.

He claimed that he was just following orders, but the judges disagreed, finding him guilty on all counts on Dec. 15 and sentencing him to die.

On May 31, 1962, Eichmann was hanged at a prison in Ramla hours later.

The hanging, scheduled for midnight, was slightly delayed and thus took place a few minutes past midnight on 1 June 1962.

The execution was attended by a small group of officials; four journalists, including Holocaust survivor and Hungarian-Jewish “Uj Kelet” journalist Dr. Paul Benedek; as well as spymaster Raffi Eitan.

Eitan claimed in 2014 to have heard Eichmann later mumble, “I hope that all of you will follow me,” making those his final words.

‘I guarded him for six months in Ramla’

And this is where my story begins. As I was a close friend of the Mossad Operations Chief Peter Malkin and as the child of Holocaust survivors whose large family was sent to their deaths in Auschwitz by Eichmann, I tried to uncover as many small details as possible to the capture, trial and execution of that unrepentant Nazi.

Most of those involved in Israel’s first and only execution in 1962 are no longer living. But the guard who spent most of Eichmann’s incarceration guarding him closely in his cell around the clock—a soft-spoken, pious Yemen-born man named Shalom Nagar—was brought to the limelight some years ago when an Israeli radio station wanted to produce an anniversary program of Eichmann’s capture and hanging.

After sifting through prison records and following tips from former prison employees, Nagar, was located and asked to reveal the memories he had stored away for so many years.

At the time, having retired from the Prisons Services, he was living in Kiryat Arba and learning in Kollel from dawn to midnight.

Nagar spoke about his time guarding the Nazi war criminal, saying: “I guarded him for six months in Ramla.

“I was one of the 22 guards. We were called ‘Eichmann’s guards.’ They put him in a special wing on the second floor. We called it Eichmann’s ‘apartment.’ There were actually five rooms. We worked in 24-hour shifts and then went home for 48 hours. While guarding him, we’d switch off: We’d sit with him for three hours, then rest; then three more hours sitting with him and three more hours’ rest. And so on. There was one guard always in Eichmann’s room, which was always me. In addition, there was another guard in the next room to guard me and Eichmann.

“And there was another guard in a third room to guard the two of us! See how well-guarded it was! And this was already the most secure prison in Israel. He was protected by so many guards because there was reason to believe that he might want to take his own life, and we were to prevent that at all costs.

“They didn’t trust anyone. Whenever his attorney came, I’d lead Eichmann in from one side while the lawyer would come from the other side. They sat across from each other with a bullet-proof glass between them and used a microphone to communicate. They could speak, but not actually touch or pass anything because the lawyer might pass him poison or something.

“During the entire Eichmann trial, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion personally made sure that any prison guards in the vicinity of Eichmann on the sealed-off second floor of the prison were Sephardic, as he was certain that Ashkenazi Jews whose families were among the millions sent to their deaths by Eichmann would harm him.

“For years, I was sworn to secrecy. My commanders feared reprisals from neo-Nazis and others who thought Eichmann was a hero. But Isser Harel, the Mossad chief in charge of Eichmann’s capture in Argentina, had already written a book about it, so what did I have to fear? Besides, I was involved in the great mitzvah of wiping out Amalek.”

‘We were a unit of 22 guards’

Shalom Nagar recalls the events that led up to that fateful night. “I was working as a guard for the Prisons Services then, after finishing the army and working for the Border Police. At first, Eichmann was brought to a prison in Yagur outside of Haifa. He was transferred to Ramle Prison, where I worked, for the last six months of his life.

“We were a unit of 22 guards, known as the ‘Eichmann guards,’ carefully selected to make sure that we had no revenge motives. After all, it was only 16 years after the Holocaust, and many prison employees had either gone through the camps or had lost family. They were disqualified. Eichmann’s ‘apartment,’ as we called it, was in a special wing on the second floor, but no Ashkenazi guards were allowed up. There were five rooms, one overlooking the other.

“For six months, I guarded him, facing his cell in the innermost room, standing in close proximity where he rested, wrote his memoirs, ate and used the facilities. He was extremely clean and washed his hands compulsively. One reason for our careful supervision was that he might have wanted to take his own life, and we were to prevent that at all costs. Outside of my room was another room overlooking it, with a guard who watched over both me and Eichmann. In the next room was the duty officer, who guarded all of us. And the last room is where we rested during shift changes.

“Food was brought in locked containers to prevent any attempt at poisoning. Still, before I gave him his meal, I had to taste it myself. If I didn’t drop dead after two minutes, the duty officer allowed the plate into his cell.

“There were guards who had numbers on their arms, but they weren’t allowed onto the second floor. However, before we were clear about this rule, one guard from downstairs, Blumenfeld, who had survived the camps, asked if he could switch with me one night. I assumed he just wanted to get a look at the man who destroyed his family. Anyway, we were all in the same unit, so I figured, why not?

“Blumenfeld approached the door of the cell and rolled up his sleeve. ‘Once I was in your hands, and now the tables have turned. Look who has the last laugh.’ It was the middle of the night, and Eichmann jumped up from his bed and started ranting in German. I, of course, couldn’t follow the conversation, but from then on we had clear instructions: No switching or we’d get court-martialed.”

Nagar, a former paratrooper and decorated soldier who was an orphan in Yemen during World War II, was approached by Avraham Merchavi, the head warden.

“I said maybe he should find someone else to do the job. Then Merchavi took me and several other guards and showed us the footage of how the Nazis took innocent children and tore them to pieces. I was so shaken that I agreed to whatever had to be done.”

At the same time, a man named Pinchas Zeklikovsky was summoned by the police for a special mission. Zeklikovsky, whose family was wiped out by the Nazis, worked for an oven factory in Petach Tikvah.

He was asked to build an oven the size of a man’s body, which would reach 1,800°C. He worked on the oven in the factory, telling inquirers that it was a special order for a factory in Eilat that burned fish bones.

On the afternoon of May 31, 1962, after the other workers left, an army truck rolled into the oven factory and loaded on the oven. Under heavy guard, the oven made its way to Ramla prison.

The world knew that Eichmann’s days were limited, but his hanging was made public only after the fact.

All the preparations were done secretly, for fear of sabotage by Eichmann supporters. Streets around the prison were cordoned off for several blocks that afternoon.

‘I didn’t see anyone else there’

Meanwhile, that same day, Shalom Nagar was on a 48-hour furlough.

He was walking with his wife, Orah, and infant son in his Holon neighborhood when a police van screeched to a halt in front of him and pulled him inside. It was his colleague, Merchavi. Nagar knew immediately what this special invitation was about.

“I realized I had won the ‘lottery,’ ” he said.

“But I told him, ‘You now have a problem, because although you want the hanging kept top secret, my wife thinks I’ve been kidnapped. She’ll call the police.’ He agreed, and the car made a quick reverse, so I could explain to my wife that this was my commanding officer and that I’d be working late.

“We arrived at Ramla Prison, and I was given a stretcher, some sheets and bandages, and was told to go and wait downstairs.

“Upstairs, Eichmann was with the priest, and according to his last wish, was given a glass of wine.

“By the time I was summoned, the noose was already around his neck, and he was standing on a specially-made trapdoor which would open under him when I would pull the lever.”

According to an official account, there were supposedly two people who would pull the lever simultaneously, so neither would know for sure by whose hand Eichmann died.

But Nagar says he knows nothing about that. “I didn’t see anyone else there. It was just me and Eichmann. I was standing a few feet from him and looked him straight in the eye. He refused to have his face covered, and he was still wearing those trademark checkered slippers. Then I pulled the lever and he fell, dangling by the rope.”

For years, I had nightmares of those moments. His face was white as chalk, his eyes were bulging, and his tongue was dangling out.

After an hour, Nagar and Merchavi went downstairs to release the body. A scaffold had been built in order to reach him to take him off the gallows.

“Merchavi told me to climb the scaffold and lift him, and then he would loosen the rope. For years I had nightmares of those moments. His face was white as chalk, his eyes were bulging, and his tongue was dangling out. The rope rubbed the skin off his neck, and his tongue and chest were covered with blood. I didn’t know that when a person is strangled all the air remains in his stomach. So when I lifted him, all the air that was inside came out and the most horrifying sound was released from his mouth—‘baaaahhhh’—I felt the Angel of Death had come to take me, too.

“Finally, a few other guards arrived, and we managed to get him onto the stretcher we had prepared earlier.

“We took him to the other side of the courtyard, where the oven was waiting. One of the guards, his name was Luchs and he had been in Auschwitz, was given the job of heating the oven. The oven was so hot it was impossible to get too close. So, they’d built tracks so that the stretcher could slide into it. It was my job to push the stretcher into the oven, but I was shaking so hard that the body kept rolling from side to side. Finally, I was able to push him in, and we closed the doors.”

Nagar was slated to escort the ashes to the port, but he was in such a state of trauma that Merchavi had him sent home with an escort. In the very early hours of the morning, the ashes were removed from the oven and transported by police van to Jaffa Port, where a Coast Guard boat carried them beyond Israel’s territorial waters so that they would not defile the Holy Land.

‘The last living hero of the era’

Shalom Nagar had a hard life, but he always remained optimistic. He faced the most difficult time when his beloved son Noam succumbed to cancer. He went on to become one of the first to live in Kiryat Arba, “Town of the Four,” an urban Israeli settlement on the outskirts of Hebron in the Judean Mountains region of the West Bank. His deep faith never left him.

I decided to tell this story now in all of its details because my mom, who survived Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen, never got to hear it.

A couple of weeks ago, an early-morning phone call woke me.

The call came from a former Israeli Intelligence operative Avner Avraham, the founder of Spylegends.com, who reached out to me to let me know that the last survivor of the era—Nagar, who dispatched Eichmann to his well-deserved hell—is now living at his modest home in poor medical condition during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown cared for by a son.

Within minutes after receiving a WhatsApp photo of the ailing man, I was on the phone reaching out to my best connections in Israel to immediately find a suitable, medically supervised, first-rate senior home for the last living hero of an era.

Everyone acted immediately.

Within an hour, I spoke with a number of descendants of Holocaust families in North America, and they all offered to help finance the proper care for Shalom Nagar.

I am happy in the knowledge that at the time of this writing, he is enjoying the care of top doctors and nurses. He participates in the daily prayer services and is very happy.

Having been able to help him find a comfortable, safe and well-staffed retirement home in Jerusalem will always be something that I feel good about. I did this in the name of the millions of martyrs, my many family members among them.

De Blassio shuts Central Park Ice Rink to kids to Because Trump Organization Runs It ... Also Firing 250 Employees

Skaters arriving at Central Park’s two ice rinks are in for a cold awakening next week — the rinks, which are both managed by the Trump Organization, are being shuttered by City Hall to punish the former president for the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riot, The Post has learned.

The Trump Organization says its last day of operating the iconic Wollman Rink and the smaller Lasker Rink at the park’s northern end will be Sunday.

The rink contracts had been set to expire in April, but Mayor de Blasio has moved to ice Trump out a month early, effective Feb. 26.

The Trump Organization is closing its doors after close of business on Sunday, so it will have time to pack up its belongings — including some 1,700 pairs of ice skates — and move out.

The city is terminating all four of its Trump Organization concession contracts.

“Trump has been impeached from operating the ice rink,” a de Blasio spokesman had said Jan. 31 in announcing the concession terminations for Wollman Rink, along with Lasker Rink, the Central Park Carousel and Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx.

On a typical season, the two Central Park rinks operate through March and into early April. The carousel never opened for the season and remains closed due to the pandemic; the golf course closed for the season in December.

“Despite our appeals to the City to allow us to continue operations through the duration of the skating season — which would not only save the jobs of nearly 250 individuals who work or otherwise provide services Wollman and Lasker Rinks, but also allow us to continue to provide the numerous public skating sessions and skating and hockey programs that we host on a daily basis — the City rejected our efforts,” the Trump Organization told The Post in a statement.

Executive Vice President Eric Trump, the former commander in chief’s son, slammed de Blasio for being “petty” in ending the contracts, and said he was saddened that kids would be kept off the ice.

“The city is saying in effect, ‘We don’t care if it destroys the skating season; we want you out now,'” Trump told The Post. “This is one of the only things that kids can do” for outdoor winter recreation, he noted.

Liberal "Loonies" "Cancel" Trump's Frum Lawyer because He Defended Trump

Far from hurting former President Donald Trump, the Democrats’ attempt to bring him down with a second impeachment trial actually has been a benefit to the former president, though it has gotten one of his attorneys “canceled,” Trump lawyer David Schoen tells Newsmax TV.

“This political weaponization of impeachment struck at the heart of the institution of the presidency, put it at risk and may have put it at risk in the future,” David Schoen said Thursday on “Greg Kelly Reports.” “But I think you’re going to see now is a backlash,” adding that Trump has gained momentum from the win.

“Let’s face it. Let’s look at who he is. They knew who he was when they elected him and he wasn’t one of them,” Schoen told host Greg Kelly. “But look at what he did in office. He’s the first so-called politician who kept his word,” said Schoen, pointing to Trump making other members of NATO pay their share and moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.

“They’re going to empower him because everyone saw that the attack was unfair in this impeachment process,” he said.

On the other side, Schoen has seen himself a victim of the “cancel culture,” having an offer to teach a civil rights law class revoked after he accepted the job of defending Trump.

“I thought it was a sad commentary, quite frankly,” he said, but I also wouldn’t want students to be uncomfortable. What’s changed is the concept of liberalism. You know, liberalism used to favor the marketplace of ideas. They would want to hear all sides of the story. Everyone has something to bring to the table. Not anymore.”

Naive Biden's Decision to Re-Start the Iran Nuclear Deal Blasted by Pompei

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and others slammed the Biden administration Thursday after the White House said it was ready to restart diplomacy with Tehran over a nuclear deal.

The critics argued that the administration was rushing into talks with a regime that's accused of sponsoring terror attacks against U.S. forces. Others fear the Biden administration may provide Iran with sanctions relief and concessions with little shift in its nuclear program.

"The Ayatollah understands only strength. I led a response to the Iranian threat that protected the American people from its terror and supported the Jewish state of Israel," Pompeo told the Washington Free Beacon. "Adopting the European Union model of accommodation ... will guarantee Iran a path to a nuclear arsenal."

Pompeo said the Trump administration -- which in 2018 withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal negotiated by the Obama administration and other nations -- "refused" to "appease the Iranian theocracy," according to the Washington Free Beacon.

R' Tzvi Kraut Couldn't Go On Living but now Bobov 48 Wouldn't Let Him Die

So the two Bobovs not only fight over the live chassidim but now they are fighting over the dead ...

R' Tzvi Kraut, died after a long illness and was brought to be buried last Friday in Beit Shemesh on a private plane costing over $200,000.00...but let me not digress from the real story ...

R' Tzvi Kraut and all of his children except one (R' Yechezkel) followed the Bobov 45 Rebbe..

The first notice above, is the "Bobov 45 Notice" of the Nicham Aveilim of R' Tzvi Kraut ...
R' Tzvi is mentioned of course, and all the children sitting Shiva.. notice that they included his son, R' Yechezkel, even though he is a follower of Bobov 48..

Now look at the second notice below hanging in Bobov 48...
Find anything strange?
No.... I'm not talking about how elaborate the notice is ... I'm talking about ... what it actually says ... and more importantly, what it doesn't say...
R' Tzvi Kraut who died and is the reason why his children are sitting Shiva is not mentioned at all ... only because he committed the big aveirah of following the "wrong rebbe'... and wonder of wonders, only R' Yechezkel is mentioned...
So while we all say by rote that we are waiting for Moshiach, I don't think anyone really means it or cares ...

Now I learned in Bobover Yeshiva as a child, and I must say that I have very nice memories and it was a beautiful peaceful Chassidus, and may I add that I also know the Krauts from those days ... a beautiful quiet Bobover family... how shameful that R' Tzvi who suffered so much while he was alive is being treated as a pariah at his death from people that he loved so much ...
As the saying goes "No good deed goes unpunished!"

Just as a reminder.. Hitler killed all Jews he could find, and threw all of them into the same fiery ovens ... and he would have thrown the 45ers and the 48ers in together ... how soon we forget..

Yair Lapid threatens Chabad "end of Chanukah Menoras on Every Corner"

Journalist Nahum Barnea of Yediot Aharonotreported that Yesh Atid's chairman, MK Yair Lapid, called one of the leaders of Chabad-Lubavitch in Israel to speak with him about the upcoming elections.

According to him, the integration between the more haredi-like Religious Zionists and the right-wing nationalists is something which the Chabad community sees as fitting. In 1996, they funded Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's campaign, which took, "Netanyahu is good for Jews" as its slogan.

The next step, Barnea said, is, "Ben Gvir is good for Jews."

Itamar Ben-Gvir is the leader of the Otzma Yehudit party, which is currently running in a joint list with MK Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionism party.

According to Barnea, in a phone call earlier this week, Lapid told the Chabad leader he spoke to: "If you support Smotrich and Ben Gvir's party, I will persecute you."

"It will be the end of Hanukkah menorahs on every corner during Hanukkah, and Chabad houses around the entire world. It will be the end of your story on loving every Jew."

In response, Smotrich said: "This is the whole difference between Chabad and Lapid, in one threat."

"The Chabad movement is careful not to identify itself politically, it loves and helps every Jew, no matter who he is, without any conditions and without any political requirements. It's the polar opposite of Yair Lapid.

"I am sure that in Chabad, they will continue to love Lapid, to bring him closer, and to host him happily, even after this threat. Because that's what Chabad-Lubavitchers are like, for over 200 years."

Chareidie Girl who crossed into Syria lands in Israel

Following the efforts of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu with Russian President Vladimir Putin, an Israeli citizen who crossed the border into Syria and was held by the Syrians returned to Israel overnight Thursday.

The woman returned to Israel from Moscow with an Israeli delegation, led by the chief of staff of the Prime Minister’s Office Asher Hayun and the coordinator of the prisoners and missing persons, Yaron Blum, with the participation of representatives of the National Security Council and a doctor.

An Israeli doctor examined the Israeli and determined that she was feeling well. The Israeli has spoken to her family. As far as is known, the young Israeli woman crossed the border into an area without a fence, near the summit of Mount Hermon.

Netanyahu said, "A few days ago, a young Israeli woman crossed the border into Syria. I spoke twice with my friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin. I asked for his help to bring her back, and he indeed acted. I would like to thank him for once again enlisting in efforts to return Israeli citizens to Israel."

"Israel has always done and will always do everything in its power to bring our citizens back home. I would like to thank the President, the head of the National Security Council, the Coordinator of Prisoners and Missing Persons, the IDF, the Shin Bet, the Mossad, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and everyone who helped in this important operation. Thank you," the Prime Minister added.

As a gesture of goodwill and in order to advance the deal, Israel returned to Syria two shepherds who entered Israel and also shortened by three months the community service work imposed on Nihal al-Makat, a Druze from Majdal Shams.

CNN's Chris Cuomo Brother of Governor mocked on social media after calling for Texas mayor to resign

CNN host Chris Cuomo was mocked on Twitter for lambasting a Texas politician while his brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, faces calls to resign and impeachment inquiries after an exclusive Post report found his administration covered up thousands of nursing home COVID-19 deaths.

In a Thursday morning tweet, the younger Cuomo posted an article about a Texas mayor who stepped down from office after calling his constituents “lazy” amid a massive power outage.

Cuomo asked his followers: “Resign or apologize and learn and become a better leader?”

Twitter users couldn’t help but wonder if the television anchor was actually talking about Gov. Cuomo, who is embroiled in scandal after his top aide admitted Albany covered up thousands of coronavirus related deaths in New York nursing homes to avoid political blowback from the Trump White House.

The tweet came a day after CNN reinstated a ban on Chris Cuomo covering his brother, amid the scandal.

Many of the tweet’s 7,100 commenters pointed out the irony of the rhetorical post.

“I don’t disagree, but considering the trouble your brother is in right now, should you really be making a tweet like this?,” one comment read.

“That is great advice for your brother. Do you think he’ll take it,” one person wrote.

“I’ll take ‘Things you should say to your inept brother’ for $500, Alex,” another sarcastically replied.

One user addressed the elephant in the room by simply writing: “Should we tell him?”

The missive from the governor’s brother comes a day after Assemblyman Ron Kim  — whose uncle died of the coronavirus in a nursing home — claimed the fellow Democrat threatened to destroy his career if he didn’t help him contain the political damage of the Post report.

Facebook faces boycott campaign after banning news in Australia

Facebook is facing a boycott campaign over its controversial move to ban users’ access to news in Australia amid a pay dispute with publishers.

Early Thursday, “Delete Facebook,” “Boycott Zuckerberg” and “Facebook We Need To Talk” began trending on other social networks as anger over the move spread around the globe.

“If it is not already clear, Facebook is not compatible with democracy,” US Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) posted on Twitter. “Threatening to bring an entire country to its knees to agree to Facebook’s terms is the ultimate admission of monopoly power.”

Facebook’s hardball move came Wednesday in response to Australia’s proposed new Media Bargaining law, which would require tech giants to share the ad revenue from news stories with the publishers that produce them. Facebook’s abrupt news ban surprised industry insiders, as it came just hours after Google announced a revenue-sharing deal with News Corp.

Israel: At Least 164 Medical Workers Who Declined Vaccine Contract COVID

At least 164 doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals in Israel contracted the coronavirus after refusing the vaccine, Channel 12 News reported on Wednesday.

A total of 66 medical professionals at Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan contracted the virus, 18 at both Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem and Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Haifa, 17 at the Assuta Medical Center in Ashdod, and 13 at the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.

The report stated that only 70-90% of medical professionals in Israel were vaccinated, with doctors more likely than nurses to take the jab.

The government is pushing legislation to make vaccination mandatory for medical workers and other workers who come into contact with the public. Those who refuse to be vaccinated will have to be tested for the coronavirus every 48 hours, at their own expense.

Also, the Ministerial Committee for Legislation approved a bill on Wednesday that will allow the Health Ministry to transfer information on unvaccinated Israelis to the Education Ministry and local authorities.

Tragedy at a Ramot outdoor shul

The “usuals” gathered on Shabbat morning last week to have their daily morning prayers. The outdoor minyan and yeshiva had been started by a beloved Rabbi Yisroel Rozovsky, who had opened up the downstairs area beneath his own to make a safe gathering place during COVID times for prayers & Torah learning. One by one, the men who came for the minyan were met with the shock of a lifetime - the leader of the minyan, Rav Rozovsky himself, had passed away the night before.

What shocked the Ramot community most about Rozovsky’s passing was that it was completely unexpected. He was a completely healthy 48-year-old father of 6. The Rozovsky family had recently recovered from COVID and were feeling well. Friday night he enjoyed a typical meal, relaxing with his children. Little did Rabbi Rozovsky know, unseen COVID complications had left him with a ticking time bomb - a blood clot near his heart. Friday night, he passed away suddenly of a heart attack.

The following video is a moving glimpse at pure, unadulterated grief:

In the clip, Mrs. Rozovsky weeps uncontrollably, surrounded by family members and friends. The family is sitting shiva now, and money is being collected to help them survive the future ahead. Rabbi Rozovsky was the sole provider of his large family, and they were not prepared for such an unforeseeable tragedy.

How and why did a volume of Mesactas Pesachim wind up in Hitler's bunker?

One of the Nazi deceptions involved coopting the customs and tragedies of Jewish history.

In that context, a mystery emerged at the end of the war concerning the discovery of the Pesachim Tractate of the Talmud inside Hitler's bunker. It was found shortly after the bunker fell into Allied hands,

Why would a tractate of the Talmud be in Nazi hands? And why that tractate? What could have interested the Nazis in that particular tractate?

Why is this tractate different from all other tractates?

During this period of time, when Jews learn the Daf Yomi daily Talmud study cycle, the tractate that is being studied and taught is none other than Pesachim, which deals with every possible aspect of Passover, along with relevant aspects of Jewish lore and Jewish history.

On February 16, 2021,page 87 of Tractate Pesachim was taught in the Daf Yomi learning cycle. And I think I found the answer.

On page 87b, the Talmud recalls the persecution that Jews suffer in each generation, followed by a famous Talmduc observation that God's grace to the Jews js that Jews were not exiled to only one place, so that when Jews are persecuted in one venue, they can thrive in another locale.

The discussion's conclusion echoed the words of a prominent Roman who said that he dreams that the day will come when they will be able to indeed kill all of the Jews.

This was the precise "vision" of the Wannsee conference which occurred eighty years ago, when leaders of the Third Reich convened a conference to set in motion a plan to murder all 11 million Jews of Europe.

Given the Nazi penchant to actually learn Jewish texts so as to "know the enemy," could it be that there were Germans in the bunker who studied Pesachim 87b? We may never know but it seems fitting.

The actual volume of the Pesachim Tractate found in the Nazi bunker was handed over by the allies to Rabbi Issac Herzog, then the chief Rabbi of Palestine.

That volume today lies in the posession of his namesake, Yitzhak Herzog, who now serves as the head of the Jewish Agency for Israel, charged with the mission of gathering the Jews from the four corners of the earth, and seeing to their return to their homeland in Israel.

Full disclosure: I have participated in an early morning Daf Yomi session each morning for the past 35 years.

When a reporter who covers anti-semitism and the fate of the Jews takes the opportunity to learn Daf Yomi before heading off to work each day, perspective is essential. And one never knows what secrets the Talmud may reveal.

Chareidie Girl Crosses Border Into Syria ... Now Israel Negotiating Prisoner Exchange with Syria

Arab Prisoners to be released

A Chareidie girl 25 from Kiryat Sefer  crossed into Syria and was captured and now Israel will be releasing two terrorists ... no one knows what this girl was doing at the border and why she crossed into Syria..

A prisoner exchange deal is being negotiated between Israel and the Assad regime, with the aim of freeing an Israeli citizen who crossed the border in the Quneitra area and was arrested, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported Wednesday.

According to the report, Russia is mediating between the parties. Israel will release the prisoners Nihal Al-Makt and Dhiyab Qahmuz from the village of Rajar in exchange for the release of the Israeli woman. The woman reportedly crossed the border into Syria by accident.

Israel and Russia have been in intensive contact in recent days on humanitarian issues in Syria.

Cabinet ministers were summoned for an urgent meeting in a video conference and not through ZOOM Tuesday evening.

In recent days, there have been telephone conversations between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin, between Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, and between Foreign Minister Ashkenazi and his Russian counterpart Lavrov.

The Kremlin refuses to comment at this stage on reports of mediation between Israel and Syria regarding the humanitarian issue. A senior Russian government official told Kan Newsthat they currently have "no response" to the reports.

New hate-mongering scandals at UN agency that Biden means to send millions

President Biden, in his obsession with reversing every Trump policy, means to reinstate funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency — hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars a year for an agency that teaches Palestinian children to hate “the Enemy” Israel and believe “Jihad is the road of glory.”

UNRWA began producing its own educational material last year to aid at-home learning during the pandemic — and some of its content is more venomous than Palestinian Authority propaganda.

The Jerusalem-based Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education blew the lid off the scandalous teaching materials in November, revealing they glorified terrorism in the cause of destroying Israel. Canada and Australia opened investigations, but UNRWA claimed it had dealt with the matter internally and replaced the “inappropriate” material.

It didn’t. Though UNRWA blocked access to its material, IMPACT-se found it and released a report Wednesday showing the agency still teaches hate and intolerance to more than 320,000 Palestinian children.

A math problem asks students the number of martyrs from the first intifada. A grammar exercise includes the sentences “The Occupier commits all kinds of torture” and “We are an occupied people.” An Arabic-language lesson has kids write out a text read by a family member that says that “our Arab relatives have sadly recognized our Enemies and began interacting with them,” referring to the Abraham Accords, and insists one day “our Enemies will be banished, God willing, as failing losers.”

Even a history lesson about ancient Carthage’s destruction by the Romans asks students to name a Palestinian village destroyed by “the Israeli Occupation.” Indeed, Israel is referred to only as “the Enemy,” “the Israeli Occupation” or “the Zionist Occupation.” No maps in the materials even show the Jewish state.

President Donald Trump was right to cut off funding — $360 million a year — to UNRWA, which devotes most of its budget to “education.” Biden ought to rethink his plan to reverse that: These hatemongers don’t deserve a dime.
