Stutchiner Chassidim Believe That all those who Died From Covid "secretly did Aveiros related to Technology"

The following was a comment on a well known blog for ladies

"I have super hardcore stuchiner chassidish cousins who think that all science is kefira. I have heard from them, recently, that the coronavirus was entirely caused by people using technology inappropriately. They genuinely believe that the only cure for coronavirus will be one enough people do teshuva, and they are 100% confident that the vaccine that was created by kefiradik science has absolutely nothing to do with the virus and will not be able to help at all. This goes so far to the extent that they believe that those who died in their own community it's because they secretly must have been involved in doing aveiros related to technology.

They do not intend to take the vaccine, which some of them are convinced is some terrible fake thing created by the kefiradik scientists for nefarious purposes, and others simply believe the non-jews are fools who don't understand the truth but think that they are accomplishing something.

I don't know why any of this is crazy compared to that. These are real people they're alive you can go and meet them.

Sheldon Adelson passes away

Billionaire mogul Sheldon Adelson has passed away, the Las Vegas Sands company announced Tuesday. He was 87.

According to the statement, Adelson died from complications related to treatment for non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

"When the pandemic disrupted daily routines and dramatically impacted his business, Mr. Adelson was adamant that our Team Members across the globe continue to receive full pay and health care benefits even while the buildings in which they worked were closed. There are countless additional untold stories of his warmth and generosity – efforts for which he never sought recognition or publicity and would only reply with a smile if asked about them," the company said.

Adelson, the son of poor Jewish immigrants to the US, began his business career at the age of 12 when he borrowed $200 from his uncle to purchase a license to sell newspapers in Boston. He went on to start 50 businesses over the course of his career.

In 1988, Adelson purchased the Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, launching his career in the casino business.

Adelson was a prolific philanthropist and political donor. The Adelson Family Foundation has donated $140 million to Birthright Israel since 2007. He and his wife Miriam were also among the biggest donors to US President Donald Trump's election campaign in 2016.

In 2007, Adelson launched the Yisrael Hayom newspaper, a free Hebrew Israeli daily which quickly rose to become Israel's most-read newspaper.

Israel's Kan public broadcaster reported that Adelson will be buried in Israel.

DemonRats mull legislation to remove Republicans who 'engaged in insurrection' but not Their Own

Amid the continuing fallout from last week’s deadly siege on the U.S. Capitol, Democrats are forging ahead with legislation to remove Republican lawmakers for inciting the riot.

While there has been focus on President Trump’s possible impeachment and the use of the 25th Amendment to remove him from office, some House Democrats say they will invoke the 14th Amendment to call for the removal of Trump and congressional Republicans who helped incite the insurrection through their push to invalidate the results of the 2020 presidential election.

“If we allow insurrection against the United States with impunity, with no accountability, we are inviting it to happen again,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” Sunday.

What is the 14th Amendment?

The 14th Amendment was adopted just after the Civil War to set terms for the readmission of former Confederate states into the Union.

What does it say?

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment says no elected official “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion”:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Jewish Comedian Sarah Silverman Explains Why She’s ‘Not Against BDS,’ Accuses Israel of Occupation

This "menuvelet" says she's fine with BDS "as long as it’s clear that you are boycotting a government and not a people."

But if you are "fine with BDS" then you are hurting Israeli citizens."

Jewish comedian and actress Sarah Silverman supports the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement as long as it protests Israel’s government and its “occupation,” and not the country’s citizens, she said Thursday.

During the Jan. 7 episode of “The Sarah Silverman Podcast,” the show’s host, 50, told her listeners, “I’m fine with BDS, as long as it’s clear that you are boycotting a government and not a people. When that line gets muddy, that’s when it’s a little scary as a Jew.”

Silverman, who lists her Twitter location as the “state of Palestine,” then citied the boycott movement against the South African apartheid in the 1980s, saying, “I think divesting from South Africa made a real difference in ending apartheid. I’m not against BDS. I’m against ‘Jews are pro-occupation.’ It’s absurd. Not all Jews are for the occupation.”

She noted that there are “myriad” Jewish-led organizations that “fight the occupation everyday” and said, “I hope for a peaceful end to [the] occupation. Unfortunately, Israel and the Palestinian Authority, and Hamas, also have to want an end to the occupation … It ain’t just Israel that benefits from the occupation in various ways. And that seems to be a well kept secret.”

On Saturday, Silverman shared on Instagram a short clip of her talking about Israel and the BDS movement from the Jan. 7 podcast episode. In the episode she also said “I agree 100 percent that criticizing Israel is not antisemitism” and claimed that “people like their Jews suffering.”

“When Jews aren’t suffering, when God forbid they’re thriving, people don’t like that,” she explained. “It’s why we’re so conditioned to complain. It’s how we know how to get love. I mean I am talking out of my ass, but it seems like something’s there.”

How you can transform old bottles and jars into vases and decor - with stunning results

Thousands of DIY enthusiasts around Australia are embracing a new trend to transform old glass bottles and jars into stunning chic vases.

Perth mum Carolina demonstrated the easy process in a TikTok video on December 17, which has since been viewed more than 88,000 times.

The craft project involves painting the jars using acrylic paint and adding jute twine once dried for a rustic look.

The end result will be sure to fill any dull corner and become a decorative feature point in the home.

In the video Carolina first cleaned the surface of a passata sauce bottle using a damp paper towel to remove any stickers and barcodes.

Using a brush she painted two layers onto the jar to ensure the glass could not be seen.

To make it seem like the jar is made from ceramic, she mixed baking soda into a bowl of paint beforehand.

The abrasive texture of the baking soda will create a rough surface on the jar rather than a smooth finish.

Those painting on a budget may wish to consider purchasing small sample paint pots from Bunnings in order to decorate multiple vases different colours.

Once the paint had dried, Carolina wrapped the twine around the glass jar.

Victorian local Brittney also praised the simple method by sharing images to the Kmart Inspired Homes Facebook group - which has more than 334,000 members.

'I whipped these three up this morning and I'm so happy with them! Recommended for a cheap and easy idea!' she wrote.

Both Brittney and Carolina painted the glass jars white and the end result looked stunning.

Others both on Facebook and TikTok described the DIY tactic a 'brilliant' and the end results as 'gorgeous'.

'So beautiful!' one person said online, another added: 'Trying it this weekend!'

The transformed vases can also be used as pots for plants to brighten up the garden or can be used to store artificial foliage inside the house.

Supermassive black hole at center of distant galaxy has gone missing

Experts have been left astonished after a supermassive black hole which was thought to be in the middle of a distant galaxy has gone missing.

The bright cluster galaxy A2261-BCG appears to have lost its black hole and some scientists think it could now be floating through space.

This would be the first ever example of a “recoiling” black hole.

It means a powerful force in the galaxy may have ejected the supermassive black hole and sent it somewhere far away.

The mystery space event was spotted by researchers from a few universities in North America.

Almost every galaxy in the Universe is thought to have a giant black hole at its centre, including our galaxy which is the Milky Way.

A team lead by Dr Kayhan Gultekin from the University of Michigan has published a study about recoiling black holes the American Astronomical Society journal.

Dr Gultekin had been studying galaxy A2261-BCG when he noticed the signs that the black hole was missing.

He told Motherboard: “I was very skeptical and thought we would see something at the very center. But that turned out not to be the case.”

The team have also considered that the black hole could still be hiding somewhere in the galaxy that is hard to detect.

The force powerful enough to eject a black hole could be two supermassive black holes colliding together.

Supermassive blackholes have never been observed merging so finding evidence of this would be groundbreaking.

The scientists how Nasa and the Europeans Space Agency will focus more research on this galactic mystery.

Two gorillas test positive for COVID-19

Two gorillas at a California zoo have tested positive for COVID-19, in what is believed to be the first known cases of the virus among great apes, officials said Monday.

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park said the gorillas began coughing Wednesday, prompting officials to test their fecal samples, which came back positive for the coronavirus.

“Aside from some congestion and coughing, the gorillas are doing well,” Lisa Peterson, the zoo’s director, said in a statement.

“The troop remains quarantined together and are eating and drinking,” Peterson said. “We are hopeful for a full recovery.”

Officials believe the primates caught the virus from an asymptomatic staff member, “despite following all recommended precautions,” the zoo said in a press release.

“This is the first known instance of natural transmission to great apes and it is unknown if they will have any serious reaction,” the statement said.

Twitter stock plunges after banning President Trump

Twitter’s stock price tumbled Monday as investors appeared to balk at the social network’s decision to ban President Trump from posting.

Shares in the San Francisco-based company tumbled as much as 12 percent to $45.17 in the first trading session after it booted Trump from the platform on Friday, saying his account posed a “risk of further incitement of violence” after his supporters stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday.

The stock pared the losses through the morning and fell 6.4 percent to close at $48.18.

Twitter’s move against the outgoing president — whose account had more than 88 million followers — was the first permanent suspension for a head of state, and it’s likely to spark furious debate about the role tech companies play in regulating speech.

It may also hurt Twitter’s user base as Trump supporters and right-wing activists pledge to boycott the company’s blockbuster decision.

“Trump has a very high and loyal following and a lot of those eyeballs will go away if Trump is permanently restricted from posting,” Andrea Cicione, head of strategy at TS Lombard, told Reuters.

n a statement explaining its decision, Twitter said there were plans in the works on Twitter and elsewhere for more armed protests, “including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on January 17, 2021.”

The use of social media to organize such violent uprisings could lead Twitter and other firms to ramp up their content moderation efforts — which could come with increased costs.

“Incremental moderation may be welcome but it’s not cheap and could benefit Facebook that already [employs] a moderation army [around six times] larger than Twitter’s workforce,” Bernstein analysts wrote in a research note.

Moreover, Democratic lawmakers poised to take control of Congress this month are looking to crack down on Twitter and other social-media giants over their roles in the deadly Capitol riots, according to reports.

Getting the COVID-19 vaccine in NY: Sites, eligibility, appointments, more

New York on Monday dramatically expanded the pool of people eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Here is a breakdown of who can get it, how to sign up, where to get the jab — and the state’s schedule for who gets the inoculation next.

Who is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in NY?

New Yorkers now eligible to receive the two-dose coronavirus vaccine are those designated in the state’s Phase 1A and 1B categories.

Those eligible in Phase 1A include: hospital and healthcare workers, residents and staffers at nursing homes, EMS workers, coroners, medical examiners, urgent care providers, individuals administering COVID-19 vaccines, staffers who are in direct contact with patients, doctors, nurses, outpatient/ambulatory front line workers, dentists and orthodontists and their staff, psychiatrists and psychologists and their staff, physical therapists and their staff, optometrist and their staff, pharmacists, home care workers, and hospice workers.

As of Monday, eligibility was expanded to those in Phase 1B.

That category includes: people aged 75 and older, first responders and support staff for first responder agencies, corrections staff, public transit workers, public safety workers, teachers and other school staffers, including bus drivers, childcare providers, in-person college instructors, public-facing grocery store workers, people living in a homeless shelter where sleeping, bathing or eating accommodations must be shared with others who are not part of their household; and people working in those shelters.

The state has a full breakdown of the phases.

How to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment in New York City

Vaccine appointments must be made in advance.

New Yorkers can check if they are eligible to receive the vaccine through this state website.

Eligible New York City residents can make an appointment to get inoculated at more than 125 public and private sites throughout the five boroughs through the city’s Department of Health website and the NYC Health + Hospitals website

Both websites prompt users to click on a button that brings them to a city-run COVID-19 “vaccine finder” page. Users are then prompted to input their address or zip code to find a vaccine provider near them.

Users will then be directed to schedule an appointment from a public or private provider.

The city has also launched a phone number, 877-VAX-4NYC or 877-829-4692, to reserve a vaccine appointment.

A pre-recorded message encourages callers who are able to make an appointment online to do so using the “vaccine finder” site. If not, an agent can schedule you to make an appointment at a city vaccination site, the message says.

Beginning at 4 p.m. on Jan. 11, New York state’s COVID-19 vaccination hotline will also open for scheduling vaccination appointments for eligible New Yorkers at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX.

Where can you get the COVID-19 vaccine in NY?

New York City residents can find their nearest vaccination location through the city’s Vaccine Finder site.

The city currently has two 24/7 mass vaccination hubs, at Brooklyn’s Army Terminal in Sunset Park and the Bathgate Industrial Park in Morrisiana in The Bronx.

Hubs are also set to open at 125 Worth St. in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday, Health + Hospitals Vanderbilt on Staten Island on Wednesday. Eventually there will be sites in all five boroughs, the mayor has promised.

The state also has a website listing vaccine locations in other parts of New York.

Do you have to pay for the COVID-19 vaccine?

No. The vaccine is free.

What is the schedule for the remaining COVID-19 distribution in NY?

According to the city Health Department, the next group to be eligible for the vaccine, 1C, will include people aged 65 to 74, those with certain underlying health conditions, and all other essential workers.

The city currently says that group will likely be eligible starting in March-April, although the timeline for 1B was brought up significantly to this week.

The vaccination of all other people will likely begin in the summer, according to the city.

Kallah Whose Chassan Didn’t Show Up Marries Guest At Her Wedding

A bride who was jilted by her groom at her wedding ended up marrying a guest at the wedding.

The bride, named Sindhu from the Bangalore region in India, was supposed to be marrying a man named Naveen. The ceremony was taking place on the same day as Naveen’s brother’s wedding so the families were holding them simultaneously.

The wedding was set for Sunday 3 January and the day before, Naveen and Sindhu participated in pre-wedding events such as posing for pictures and receiving greetings from guests. However when the wedding commenced the next day, Naveen was nowhere to be found. Local media reports claimed that Naveen had a secret girlfriend and fled the wedding to be with her since she had allegedly threatened to spoil the wedding by drinking poison in front of the guests.

Naveen’s brother, Ashok, went ahead with his marriage but then the families were left wondering where Naveen was and did not know how to continue.

Sindhu’s family members decided that she would still be able to wed if they could find an eligible person among the guests.

A Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) conductor, who was present at the wedding, volunteered to marry Sindhu if both the families agreed.

They all met, finalised the wedding vows and Sindhu still managed to get married at the wedding after all.

Mark Levin's Bosses Tell Him to Shut Up about "Stolen Elections" or Get Fired

The ownership group for several talk radio hosts across the country, including syndicated figures like Mark Levin and Dan Bongino, says its personalities need to tone things down or face firing.

Cumulus Media content chief Brian Philips sent an email to managers Wednesday, the day of the U.S. Capitol riot, saying the company had to help induce calm.

“There will be no dog whistles about ‘stolen elections,’ ‘civil wars’ or any other language that infers violent public disobedience is warranted, ever,” said the memo, first reported by Inside Music Media.

The memo said Cumulus would not tolerate any suggestion by its on-air personalities that the presidential election is not over.

“Please inform your staffs that we have ZERO TOLERANCE for any suggestion otherwise,” Philips said in the memo.

The company did not immediately respond to an AP request for comment Monday.

Cumulus owns 416 radio stations in 86 markets across the country, along with the syndication arm Westwood One.

An elderly Palestinian man was arrested in the village of Deir Jarir near Ramallah on Sunday morning on charges of rioting against IDF forces, Palestinian media reported.

Despite his age, the man, lauded by Palestinian media outlets as a hero, joined rioters decades younger than him in hurling rocks at IDF forces.

He was also videoed fighting with a local Jewish resident. Some media outlets dubbed him “The Sheikh of the Mountain.”
