On Sunday morning a shocking video went viral on social media that depicted Rabbi Eliezer Berland conducting, what appears to be an act that goes against all the teachings of Torah and Halachah. Rabbi Berland is the community leader of the Shuvu Banim community.

While many people were shocked by the video footage, members of the Shuvu Banim community defended Rabbi Berland’s actions claiming that this was an extreme circumstance with a good reason for his actions. Viewers saw Rabbi Berland wrapped in his Tallis and Tefillin touching the face of a woman.

The followers of Rabbi Berland publicized another video of the woman, Klara Shammai, a mother of 11 children who was reportedly in immediate danger of dying. Shammai spoke about the original video and says it was filmed three years ago, and that it changed her life, as she put it.

Shammai said: “After seven different types of chemotherapy that I had previously tried due to a tumor in my throat, the doctors all said that there was nothing left for me to do. I went to Rabbi Berland, and he spread an ointment on my throat where the tumor was. After just a few months I was healed in a miraculous way,” she claims.

As can be expected, followers of Berland immediately explained that it is perfectly permitted for a man to touch a women. They sourced a Sefer called “Minchas Yehuda”, written by a Mekubal in Iraq named “Rabbi Pataya”. Berland’s followers claim the Sefer states that “in order to heal someone you must place your hand on the location of the sickness in order to heal them and that this rule also applies to women”.

This is just the latest in a string of bizarre and troubling “Segulos” and never-seen before allegedly holy acts. Two weeks before Chanukah Berland was wrapped in his Tallis during Maariv playing with a Draidel during Davening. And on Chaunkah YWN published a video of Berland smearing oil from a menorah on the faces of children during Davening. Both of these incidents were described by his thousands of followers as very holy.

Rabbi Berland was released from house arrest just before Rosh Hashana, the result of a conviction for assault. Berland pleaded guilty to his actions against multiple victims. He had first fled Israel and traveled from country to country, thus avoiding extradition to Israel, where a warrant for his arrest had been issued. He spent time in the United States, Italy, Switzerland, Morocco, Egypt, Zimbabwe, and Johannesburg before being arrested and extradited to Israel where he faced the law.

His followers claim that Berland willingly took upon himself this disgrace, suffering, and exile, “which spiritually protects the Jewish People from heavenly decrees of annihilation”. It should be noted that audio footage was released where Berland was talking to his attorney about the details of one of his assaults.

Despite the charges and the guilty plea, he continues to be a celebrity-rabbi with many well known Jewish music stars flocking to his Simchas Bais Hashoeva which hosted thousands of people.

He was recently given the honors of being Mesader Kedushin at the wedding of a son of prominent Breslov Mashpia Rabbi Mota Frank.

Just a few weeks ago, Berland was an honored guest at the Spinka wedding in Bnei Brak, where the Rebbe was seen embracing and dancing with Berland as thousands of Chassidim danced and cheered (see video below).

Other Rabbonim continue to flock to Berland including Rav Reuven Elbaz, the Rosh Yeshiva of Ohr Hachayim (see video below).

World Renowned Daf Yoimie Maggid Shiur, Hagaon HaRav Dovid Grossman Killed In Crash In Staten Island

A world renowned Maggid Shiur was R”L killed in an early morning crash in Staten Island.

Hagaon HaRav David Grossman ZATZAL from Los Angeles was tragically killed while driving in Staten Island.

The crash was reported to the NYPD at around 4:00AM on Monday morning on the West Shore Expressway northbound near Victory Boulevard.

The NYPD gave the following statement to YWN:

On Monday, February 5th, 2018 at approximately 3:58AM, police responded to a 911 call for a collision on the Westshore Expressway north of Wild Ave in the confines of the 121st Precinct.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 72-year-old male operator unconscious and unresponsive with head trauma. EMS transported the male to Staten Island University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A preliminary investigation determined the 72-year-old operator of a 2017 Ford was apparently stopped on the right shoulder, partially blocking the right lane due to his disabled vehicle having a flat tire.

Subsequently, a 43-year-old female operator of a 2005 Honda was traveling northbound on the expressway when she struck the rear driver’s side of the Ford causing it to cross two northbound lanes of traffic coming to a final rest on the center median. The operator of the Honda was removed to Richmond County Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad responded and conducting an investigation.

In his younger years, Rav Dovid Grossman studied in the Beis Medrash program of the Yeshiva of Philadelphia for 4 years under the tutelage of Hagaon HaRav Elya Svei and Hagaon HaRav Shmuel Kamenetsky.

He then learned one Elul zman in a branch of the Novardok yeshiva in France.

In Eretz Yisroel, he joined the Yeshiva Mir in Jerusalem, where he became a Talmid of its Rosh Yeshiva, Hagaon HaRav Chaim Shmuelevitz ZATZAL.

In Yerushalayim, Rabbi Grossman developed a personal relationship with Hagaon HaRav Meir Soloveitchik, a son of the Brisker Rov.

It was in Israel where he met his wife, Rachel – who is the principal of Valley Torah High School’s girl division in Valley Village, California.

After returning to America, Rabbi Grossman learned in the Lakewood Kollel for approximately 7 years. He then went on to become one of the founding members of the Lakewood Kollel branch in Los Angeles (1975).

In 1981, he helped start Yeshiva Gedolah of Los Angeles where he served as the 12th grade Maggid shiur until 2008. Concurrently with position as lecturer at YGLA, he opened a Torah program for working young adults and college students, independent of the Yeshiva.

Rabbi Grossman was known around the globe for his daf yomi shiurim and his recordings on every page of the Talmud are widely distributed by many platforms of Shiurim including Kol Halashon, DafYomi.org, OU and many others. He was the first voice of the famed “Dial a Daf”.

His children are: Mrs Sara Fisher, Mrs Tzippy Rokowsky, Mrs. Efrat Privalsky, Reb Meir, Reb Avi, Reb Binyomin, Reb Moshe, Reb Chaim.

Itamar Ben-Gal, 29 Father of four murdered in Ariel terror attack

An Israeli man was killed on Monday afternoon after he was stabbed in the chest in a terror attack outside the West Bank settlement of Ariel, the army and medics said.

He was identified as Itamar Ben-Gal, 29, a father of four from the nearby settlement of Har Bracha.

Video from the scene showed the Palestinian attacker crossing a road toward Ben-Gal, who was standing in front of a bus stop, and stabbing him.

Ben-Gal then fled across the street with the stabber in pursuit.

The military said an IDF officer identified the terrorist and pursued him, hitting with his vehicle, but he managed to flee. “IDF troops are searching the area,” the army said.

The Magen David Adom emergency service and army medics treated the victim at the scene in the northern West Bank settlement.

Medics tried to resuscitate Ben-Gal, who was stabbed repeatedly in the chest, medics said.

He was taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikvah, but died of his wounds, the hospital said.

His funeral was called for Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Har Bracha.

Speaking at a Likud faction meeting in the Knesset, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that the terrorist would be captured.

“We will bring him to justice, as we always do. I put my trust in the security forces who do the hardest work against these reprehensible attacks,” he added.

Ben-Gal is the second Israeli to be killed in an attack in the West Bank in under a month.

On January 9, Rabbi Raziel Shevach, 35, was fatally shot near Nablus in the northern West Bank.

While Mishpacha’s policy of not printing pictures of women or girls above the age of five is well-known, blurring the face of a Holocaust victim touched a nerve. In response to criticism, Mishpacha is now defending its policy of erasing women with the claim that, “Like all ultra-Orthodox media, we respect the rules set by rabbinical leaders 70 years ago to not publish pictures of women.” Mishpacha is making a similar claim in emailed responses to letters to the editor, stating, “Mishpacha Magazine abides by the policies set in place by prominent Torah leaders of 70 years ago, which include not publishing photos of women.”

In the wake of The Jewish Week’s report on allegations that a former teacher at a Baltimore Jewish day school abused three young boys when he was a counselor at a Maryland summer camp in 2015, the rabbi has filed a lawsuit against his accusers.

On Tuesday, Rabbi Shmuel Krawatsky filed the suit in Maryland federal court against the parents of his accusers and Chaim Levin, a sexual abuse activist and blogger, for defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Rabbi Krawatsky and his wife are asking for $75 million in compensatory and punitive damages — $15 million per defendant. They say the rabbi’s accusers engaged in an effort to “damage Rabbi K and destroy his reputation and ability to earn a living” by publicly alleging that he sexually abused their sons, charges that he denies.

Attorney Jonathan Little, who represents the families, said the lawsuit is a “thinly veiled attempt to intimidate our clients.”

In the coming weeks, the families of three alleged victims plan to sue Rabbi Krawatsky for battery of children and “any organization that had knowledge that Rabbi K was being inappropriate with children and failed to intervene,” Little Told the Jewish Week in January.

FBI Tried Screwing Trump .... Nunes Memo un-classified! READ IT HERE !

The House Intelligence Committee has released its controversial memo outlining alleged abuses of secret surveillance by the FBI and Justice Department in the Trump-Russia investigation. Here are some key points:

* The Steele dossier formed an essential part of the initial and all three renewal FISA applications against Carter Page.

* Andrew McCabe confirmed that no FISA warrant would have been sought from the FISA Court without the Steele dossier information.

* The political origins of the Steele dossier were known to senior DOJ and FBI officials, but excluded from the FISA applications.

* DOJ official Bruce Ohr met with Steele beginning in the summer of 2016 and relayed to DOJ information about Steele's bias. Steele told Ohr that he, Steele, was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected president and was passionate about him not becoming president.

The FBI and Justice Department mounted a months long effort to keep the information outlined in the memo out of the House Intelligence Committee's hands. Only the threat of contempt charges and other forms of pressure forced the FBI and Justice to give up the material.

Once Intelligence Committee leaders and staff compiled some of that information into the memo, the FBI and Justice Department, supported by Capitol Hill Democrats, mounted a ferocious campaign of opposition, saying release of the memo would endanger national security and the rule of law.

But Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes never wavered in his determination to make the information available to the public. President Trump agreed, and, as required by House rules, gave his approval for release.

Finally, the memo released today does not represent the sum total of what House investigators have learned in their review of the FBI and Justice Department Trump-Russia investigation. That means the fight over the memo could be replayed in the future when the Intelligence Committee decides to release more information.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), who has had no problem labeling President Trump a racist, had no problem hugging one of the worst racists on the planet in 2006 as she joined members of the Congressional Black Caucus to meet virulent anti-Semite Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

Farrakhan’s history of vehement Jew-hatred was amply illustrated by former White House spokesman Ari Fleischer on Monday, as he castigated the press for their double standard in condemning politicians who have countenanced KKK leader David Duke but not members of the CBC for meeting with Farrakhan.

Roughly two weeks ago, Waters issued a statement calling President Trump a racist and urging his impeachment after his alleged “s***hole” comments regarding Haiti and African countries. 

But hugging someone who calls Judaism a “gutter religion,” someone who said of Jews, “You are the Synagogue of Satan and therefore will be dealt with by God,” is perfectly fine in Waters’ world.

What an astonishing hypocrite.

Mishpacha Magazine Blocks a Photo of a murdered lady murdered in the Camps

So now we know that Chareideim get turned on by photos of murdered fully clothed women!

In last week’s issue of Mishpacha, a charedi magazine, part of a photo of Holocaust victims was pixelated to hide a woman’s face, prompting JOFA (Jewish Feminist Orthodox Alliance) to condemn the decision in the strongest of terms.

Sruli Besser, an editor of Mishpacha, responding to the criticism in a Facebook post, noted that the photo originally came from the Hebrew version of Mishpacha, which tends to follow stricter modesty guidelines.

“The picture was not pixelated by us: we wouldn’t have done so — in fact, in the very same article on the same page, you clearly see a picture of a girl,” wrote Besser.

He followed up with a second post on Monday night, saying the conversation about women’s pictures in Mishpacha is “not for everyone.”

“The problem is that every time we open a door and show a willingness to engage in dialogue, a whole horde of angry agenda-driven people who — while well-meaning and sincere — aren’t part of our conversation, see a chance to grandstand and they seize it,” wrote Besser. 

“But we aren’t a People [magazine] who changes things because of a hashtag campaign or Facebook ambush. That’s not how it will work, not what’s going to dictate the process.”

Critics of Mishpacha defended their right to call out the magazine’s policies. Shoshanna Keats-Jaskoll, who recently penned an op-ed calling out this practice and has been one of a number a number of activists working on this issue, responded to Besser in her own Facebook post.

“The idea that because I am not charedi, I cannot/should not speak out against erasing women is ridiculous. I am a Jew.”

CHAREDIM VISIT JAILED ARAB TEEN'S FAMILY HOME

Members of the anti-Zionist Charedi  group Neturei Karta, a group financially supported by Satmar Organizations, recently met with the family of Ahed Tamimi, the Arab teen who was arrested last month for assaulting IDF soldiers.

The Hirsch family and other activists from the ultra-Orthodox group arrived at the Tamimi family home in Nabi Salah, near Ramallah, with Palestinian flags in their hands and expressed their support for the family's struggle for the girl's release, according to the Charedi news website Kikar Hashabbat.

The delegation met with the girl's father, brothers and friends to express their condemnation of what they view as undemocratic behavior of the State of Israel: arresting an innocent girl for no fault of her own.

"We came to express our solidarity with what happened to the family," said Rabbi Israel Meir Hirsch. "At the meeting we spoke against the occupation and against the ongoing oppression of the Palestinians... It is not only this arrest but the entire conduct of the Zionist establishment against the Palestinian people, this situation."

"We arrived at the village and everyone appreciated our actions," said Hirsch.

Tamimi was arrested during a raid on her home in the West Bank village of Nebi Salah on December 19, after a video showing her slapping and kicking Israeli soldiers who did not respond went viral. Another young Palestinian woman filmed the action with her cell phone, suggesting that Tamimi was actively seeking to provoke a violent reaction by the soldiers.

A photo of former President Barack Obama smiling with the Minister of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan, has surfaced thirteen years later.

The photographer, Askia Muhammad, said he took the photo during a Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) meeting in 2005, when Obama was an Illinois senator. He said he “gave up the picture at the time and basically swore secrecy.”

Muhammad believes if the photo had been released during Obama’s presidential campaign, “it absolutely would have made a difference.”

According to the ADL, Farrakhan has alleged that Jews were responsible for the slave trade and that they conspire to control the government, the media, Hollywood, and various Black individuals and organizations. He also frequently denies that Jews have a legitimate claim to their religion and to the land of Israel claiming that Judaism is a “gutter religion” and nothing more than a “deceptive lie” and a “theological error” promoted by Jews to further their supposed control over America’s government and economy.

Farrakhan claims Israel and Jews had a role in orchestrating the 9/11 attacks, stating “Israelis had foreknowledge of the attacks” and that Jews were warned ahead of time not to come to work that day.

Muhammad said a staff member for CBC contacted him “sort of in a panic.”

“I understood what was going on,” Muhammad told Talking Points Memo. “I promised and made arrangements to give the picture to Leonard Farrakhan (the minister’s son-in-law and chief of staff.)”

Also in the picture is Farrakhan’s son-in-law Leonard Farrakhan Muhammad, his son and security chief Mustapha Farrakhan, Minister Farrakhan’s son Joshua Farrakhan, and the Reverend Willie Wilson, executive producer of the program for Farrakhan’s Million Man March in 1995, and a chairman of the 20th anniversary.

Muhammad said he gave away “the disk” from his camera but “copied the photograph from that day onto a file” on his computer.

“Realizing that I had to give it up, I mean, it was sort of like a promise to keep the photograph secret,” Muhammad said.

Republicans have long argued the media gave Obama a pass on his alleged ties to Farrakhan during his 2008 presidential run, though Obama argued he had “thoroughly denounced” Farrakhan.
