Clue in Stark's Murder

In this Dec., 2012 Google map photo, Stark is seen siting in his Lexus in front of his office at Rutledge St. in Brooklyn, NY

Police have found a new clue in the unsolved murder of a real estate developer whose burned body was found in a dumpster.
WABC TV is reporting tonight, that a cell phone was found strapped underneath Menachem Stark’s car that was apparently being used as a tracking device. Police are trying to find the phone’s registered owner.
Two masked men grabbed New York City real estate developer Menachem Stark outside his office one snowy night and thrust him into a waiting van. His burned body turned up a day later in a smoldering trash bin, miles away in suburban Long Island.
Stark, a member of an ultra-Orthodox Jewish sect, has been described as an honest family man eager to help his neighbors and friends, a man who had no enemies. But he’s also been called a slumlord. Some of his buildings were in disrepair, and he owed millions to creditors and had declared bankruptcy in 2009.
Stark, nicknamed Max, was a husband and father of seven, the youngest barely 2 years old, the oldest about 16. He lived in a stately brick building in Williamsburg, a neighborhood where hipsters in skinny jeans live alongside ultra-Orthodox men with ear locks and fur hats and women in modest dresses. Brooklyn is home to the largest group of ultra-Orthodox Jews outside Israel — more than 250,000. Stark came from a large family, and his funeral this week was flooded with mourners.
“He really was a loving husband and father,” said Abraham Buxbaum, married to Stark’s older sister. “I don’t ever remember getting a ‘no’ from him. He helped people get into the real estate market. He was there for every individual, and the community.”
Stark and his business partners owned and renovated buildings throughout Brooklyn as the borough became increasingly trendy. Court records show they often borrowed money from banks to finance new ventures.
But they filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and landed in court several times. He and his primary business partner, Israel Perlmutter, were sued in 2011 after defaulting on a $29 million loan, according to federal court records. In 2012, he was ordered to pay more than $4 million for defaulting on a $2.5 million loan for a separate renovation, court records show.
A bankruptcy judge on Thursday ordered the company to account for $2 million owed to creditors involved in one of his buildings in 2009. They had filed paperwork saying they were concerned about the money being repaid following Stark’s death and his apparent “financial dire straits.”
Stark had about 1,000 tenants, maybe more, his family said, and several described him as a terrific landlord. Jordan Brown, 30, said he’d lived in a building owned by Stark for about three years and he thought very highly of him.
“I knew Max well, and he was actually the only landlord I ever knew who wasn’t a slumlord,” he said.
Another tenant, Melissa Manning, rented commercial space from him and said he was friendly, flexible and responsive.
“We had no conflicts, no disagreements, nothing. He was great,” she said.
But many of his buildings had dozens of serious violations, including working without proper permits. And he was also the target of dozens of complaints of mismanagement, prompting a Sunday headline on the front page of the New York Post that read: “Who didn’t want him dead?”
Heather Letzkus runs a blog about real estate in north Brooklyn, something she described as a “wailing wall” for residents with bad landlord tales, and Stark and his buildings have played prominently. There are particular complaints about a hotel of single rooms once raided by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and an industrial building billed as luxury lofts. Stark was fined $25,000 in 2009 for unsafe working conditions at the loft site, according to records. A stop-work order is in place there because of unpaid fines.
“There’s a pattern,” Letzkus said. “One of the things that really jumped out at me is that you had similar complaints and citations,” she said.
Many friends point out that a landlord with 1,000 tenants is bound to have some critics. Buxbaum, the brother-in-law, said it would have been impossible for Stark to maintain such split personalities.
“You can’t hide forever. If you’re a bad person, it comes out,” he said. “No one ever said anything bad; I only heard people say how good he was.”

Caleb Jacoby found safe, police say

Caleb Jacoby, the 16-year-old Brookline student missing since Monday, was found safe on Thursday evening in Times Square, police said.
Jacoby, who disappeared at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, is a student at the Maimonides School in Brookline and has been the subject of a wide search aided by social media outreach. The teen is also the son of Boston Globe OpEd columnist Jeff Jacoby.
“Our prayers have been answered,” Jeff Jacoby tweeted Thursday night. “We are thrilled to hear from the Brookline Police that our beloved son Caleb has been found and is safe. Words can’t express our gratitude for the extraordinary outpouring of kindness and support that we have received from so many people.
“All we can think of at this moment is how wonderful it will be to see Caleb again and shower him with love.”
Brookline police had circulated fliers with Jacoby’s description and encouraged anyone with information to call their department.
The Maimonides School, a Jewish day school at which Jacoby was in 11th grade, distributed fliers and sent e-mail alerts regarding the missing teen. A coordinated effort by the school had about 200 volunteers searching for Jacoby in the Boston metro area.
“Baruch HaShem [Blessed is God]! The Brookline Police Department has confirmed that Caleb Jacoby has been found and is safe,” the school said on its Facebook page. “Thank you all for your prayers and efforts on his behalf.”
The Maimonides School worked alongside Combined Jewish Philanthropies and AJC Boston, along with other Jewish advocacy groups, in the search.
Brookline police said in a blog post that they received information that Jacoby may have been in the area of Times Square in New York. Coordinated efforts with other agencies led New York City police to locate him at about 9 p.m., Brookline police said.
Plans are progressing to bring Jacoby back home to Brookline.
News of Jacoby’s return was announced in a tweet from Brookline police at 8:54 p.m. Thursday. The statement was re-tweeted by hundreds, along with messages of goodwill and relief.

Calling Police instead of Shomrim may have saved Stark's Life!

Frustrated cops said they believe they would have been able to stop the attackers before they left Brooklyn if they had been alerted earlier to Stark’s disappearance.
Stark’s brother-in-law reported him missing just before midnight to Shomrim, the neighborhood civilian patrol, after family members saw the video footage, relatives told The Post.
Shomrin did not tell the NYPD until nearly 2 a.m., when a member walked into the local precinct to file a report.
“They didn’t do Stark any favors by waiting,’’ said a law enforcement source. “I don’t know if we could have saved his life, but I will tell you that it’s unlikely that minivan would have made it out to Long Island. The weather was horrible that night. The LIE was closed. It would have been a real challenge for [the kidnappers] to get out there while we’re looking for them.’’
A Shomrim spokesman declined comment.

Did European creditors murder Stark? Police think so,,,

Cops suspect the deadly kidnapping of a Brooklyn Chasid was a professional hit ordered by one of the many creditors to whom he was deep in debt, sources told The Post.
Menachem “Max” Stark owed multiple people amounts ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars — and one apparently got fed up with waiting for the money, law-enforcement sources said Tuesday.
In addition, the two thugs who abducted and killed Stark during Thursday’s blizzard may have arrived from overseas to whack him, sources said.
Cops got “a flood of calls” from tipsters after Stark’s family on Monday increased the reward for information about his murder to $25,000.
Descriptions of his abductors “led us to believe that the suspects are not American. They could be from out of the country, possibly Europe,” one source said, declining to elaborate further.
Sources also said Stark’s widow told detectives that she saw a minivan matching the description of the kidnappers’ parked near their home about a week before her husband was grabbed from in front of his office.
In addition to racking up crushing debts, Stark ran rental properties riddled with code violations and sidelined as a loan shark, sources have said.
Surveillance video captured Stark’s violent abduction, but the blinding snowstorm obscured his assailants’ faces and license plates, sources have said.
Undaunted, cops are interviewing gas-station workers and reviewing red-light camera videos between Brooklyn and the Great Neck, LI, Getty station where Stark’s burned body was found in a dumpster on Friday, sources said.
Also Tuesday, a lawyer for Stark’s business partner, Israel “Sam” Perlmutter, blasted a published report that said cops considered Perlmutter, 42, a “suspect” in Stark’s murder.
“He has nothing to do with it,” lawyer Henry Mazurek said.
Mazurek did not deny a Post report that Perlmutter said Stark owed more than $1 million to loan sharks, saying what he told police “is for the purpose of advancing their investigation.”

Admitted Rapist "Harav" Moshe Turner gets 90 days Jail!

The Chazir Turner got 90 days in jail, but not for raping the 14 year old, no ...... for violating his parole!
Rav Schlesinger couldn't convince the DA to let Turner continue roaming the streets of Monsey to prey on more victims. So for the next 90 days, children in Monsey will not have to worry about this smelly pig.

What are the "Community Leaders" doing about the SUICIDES of our young teens who are going off the derech?

You don't have to read the rest of this article to get the answer to the headline.....
The answer is NOTHING! There you have it!

Just this week a Monsey teenager committed suicide ....
In Israel, a teenager who went to his younger brother's engagement party uninvited, was shunned by his parents and siblings, he then jumped off a roof and killed himself ....
In Tel Aviv two 15 year old girls rented a room in a hotel and planned to jump together, one survived ...

Our leaders are busy prohibiting people that possess IPhones to serve as witnesses at weddings and divorces, they are busy prohibiting the internet... they are busy protecting rapists and pedophiles, and ignoring the pain that  our youth are experiencing.

I don't have the solution, but I'm addressing this importing issue that is effecting every single Jewish community!

Jewish community outraged about New York Post Stark headline!

Statement from Assemblyman Dov Hikind
Re: New York Post Cover Caption and Photo “Who Didn’t Want Him Dead”
I understand that the New York Post wants to sell papers and that they are willing to sacrifice the standards of propriety from time to time. But there is a difference between bad taste and just plain indecency.
The pain that this headline caused to not only a man’s family but to the entire Jewish commuA virtual avalanche of negative backlash is being heaped on the New York Post from an outraged Jewish community following its Sunday cover photo of murdered Hasidic real estate developer Menahcem Stark, accompanied by the caption

 “Who Didn’t Want Him Dead?”

Troughout its accompanying article, the NEW YORK POST  refers to Stark as a “slumlord,” while citing a litany unconfirmed complaints against Stark—-the vast majority from “unnamed” sources—-and paints a picture of the deceased father of eight as a man who authorities hint “had so many enemies that investigators say they almost don’t know where to start looking.”

Reaction to the Post’s decision to run the feature has been swift and harsh from an outraged Jewish community.

Councilman Stephen Levin has also responded in disgust, calling on the Post to pull the story and apologize.
Levin’s statement reads,

““The New York Post’s unbelievably offensive headline this morning comes the day after Mr. Stark’s family and children, as well as an entire community, laid him to rest and are still mourning his death. For the New York Post to suggest that a person deserved to be murdered is sickening and reaches a new low. The entire community is outraged by such a vulgar headline that is so offensive and horrific. The New York Post should pull their story and issue an apology to the family and community that are still in mourning.”

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams’ office stated that, “Today at 3:00 PM, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams will join Jewish community leaders and local elected officials to condemn the New York Post’s hateful coverage of the murder of Menachem “Max” Stark, a 39-year-old father of eight children from the Hasidic community of Williamsburg. Along with reporting that alleged him to be a crooked slumlord, the Post’s cover featured a picture of Stark next to the headline, “Who didn’t want him dead?”

“Jewish community leaders will be announcing a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of Stark, whose smoldering body was found in a dumpster in Long Island, following his abduction Thursday night outside his real estate office in Brooklyn,” Adams’ statement concludes.

State Senator Simcha Felder add his voice of rage, releasing the following statement:
“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the incredibly insensitive and crass cover of today’s New York Post which mocks the kidnapping and brutal murder of Menachem Stark,” said Senator Simcha Felder (D-Brooklyn). The Post must issue an immediate apology to the Stark family and to all New Yorkers for its egregious behavior and failure to exercise any judgment whatsoever in this matter.”

THE ALGEMEINER (http://bit.ly/1hpiPqW) is also running a piece condemning the Post’s story, stating “Stooping to a new low, the New York Post reports this story with inappropriate levity and derision toward the victim. Gloating over Stark’s death, the front cover of Sunday’s New York Post rhetorically asks, “Who didn’t want him dead?” How about the eight children and widow wife mourning over him? How about the hundreds that showed up at his funereal to pay respect? How about any decent human that believes murder is the wrong way to settle disputes?”

Along those lines, “Jew in the City” founder Allison Joseph has posted on her Facebook page, “The deceased did not seem to be someone who lived up to some major Torah ideals. However, there should be a certain basic respect for the dead.”

TWITTER has been exploding, too, with negative responses from angry members of the Jewish community.

Councilman David G. Greenfield Tweeted a short time ago, “I’m sickened by the @NYPost condoning the murder & kidnapping of chasidic businessman. I don’t subscribe. If I did, I would cancel subscription.”

BUSINESS INSIDER (http://read.bi/19Ki1KW) is quoting numerous Tweets, including one that reads, “It’s heart-wrenching that this is leading the @nypost website today. ‘Who DIDN’T want him dead?’ SHAME ON YOU!”
Yaacov Behrman Tweeted “I am deeply disturbed by the cover of the New York Post, “who didn’t want him dead.” How about this young boy?!”—-referring to the young boy pictured at the start of Stark’s standing-room-only funeral last night who, visibly shaken, said in Yiddish, “You know they burned him and left him in the trash.”
