CBS Shamefully Throws One of its Own Anchors Under the Bus Because He Questioned a Pro-Palestinian Author

By Piers Morgan

“Journalism,” said legendary CBS News anchorman Walter Cronkite, “is what we need to make democracy work. In seeking truth, you have to get both sides of a story.”

Now, you might think this is a statement so self-evident that Mr. Cronkite should have been given the Award for the Bleeding Obvious to add to his vast trophy cabinet for being the greatest journalist in American history.

But it now seems such a mindset is the opposite philosophy, at least to the people who run CBS News.

Last week, I watched a surprisingly lively interview with controversial author Ta-Nehisi Coates on “CBS Mornings,” conducted predominantly by one of the three anchors that day, Tony Dokoupil.

Coates has written an unashamedly pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel new book, and Dokoupil, a Jewish man, challenged him about its very obvious bias.

It was an insightful debate, with Dokoupil going unusually hard in his questioning for that time of day, suggesting that Coates sounded like an extremist at times in the book, and the interviewee giving as good as he got.

But it never got out of control, nor felt uncomfortable, and Dokoupil was respectful throughout, albeit determined to make Coates explain himself as to why he hadn’t tried to balance the book with more arguments from Israel’s viewpoint — citing “the little kids blown to bits” in terrorist attacks and the fact that Israel is “surrounded by countries that want to eliminate it.”

He then asked directly: “Is it because you just don’t believe that Israel, in any condition, has a right to exist?”

Coates responded that Israel’s side of the story gets lots of media coverage, and so he wanted to elevate Palestinian views.

In other words, he deliberately chose to write a one-sided book, and Dokoupil was therefore absolutely right to provide some much-needed balance.

In fact, it would have been a dereliction of his journalistic duty if he hadn’t, and an abandonment of Cronkite’s maxim about journalism.

Predictably, there was a lot of angry social media reaction to the interview from pro-Palestinian activists who simply won’t tolerate any inkling of fairness toward Israel.

get this kind of blowback all the time after my often-fierce debates on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” and I also get lots of furious blowback from pro-Israel activists who think I’m too biased against their side, which I would suggest means I’m getting the balance about right.

But it’s what then happened behind the scenes at CBS News that was far more shocking and disturbing.

A group of employees in the news division went to their senior executives to express their “concerns” over Dokoupil’s handling of the interview.

Dokoupil was summoned for a meeting with the CBS News standards and practices team, and its in-house Race and Culture Unit.

And on Monday, he was publicly reprimanded during the newsroom morning call by Adrienne Roark, CBS president of editorial and news gathering, who said: “After a review of our coverage, including the interview, it’s clear that there are times we have not met our editorial standards. This has been addressed, and it will continue to be in the future.”

She added: “I want to be clear: We will still ask tough questions. We will still hold people accountable. That’s part of our job, too. But we will do so objectively, and that means very plainly checking our biases and opinions at the door.”

Sorry?

What could be more objective than a journalist asking tough questions and holding to account a hyper-partisan author who’s written a hyper-partisan book?

I didn’t see Dokoupil showing bias, he just firmly challenged what Coates himself had admitted was a very unbalanced piece of work.

To her credit, CBS chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford bravely questioned her management’s cowardly bulls–t on the same call.

“When someone comes on our air with a one-sided account of a very complex situation, as Coates himself acknowledges that he has, it’s my understanding that as journalists we are obligated to challenge that worldview so that our viewers can have that access to the truth or a fuller account,” she said. “To me, that is what Tony did.”

Exactly.

To compound their management failings, CBS then absurdly asked self-styled “mental health expert, DEI strategist and trauma trainer” Dr. Donald Grant to moderate an all-staff meeting about it all.

Presumably so the poor little woke wastrels who were offended by Dokoupil doing his job can have their sensitive censorious souls caressed?

They’d be better off getting Donald Duck to talk to them given how quackers this all is.

Walter Cronkite used to sign off his nightly broadcasts with the words, “And that’s the way it is” and explained: “To me, that encapsulates the newsman’s highest ideal: to report the facts as he sees them, without regard for the consequences or controversy that may ensue.”

By chucking Tony Dokoupil under the bus in such a shameful manner, CBS News executives have sent a message to all their journalists that the way it is now stinks — and that would make the great Cronkite turn in his grave.

Trump demands ‘unedited transcript’ of Kamala's ‘60 Minutes’ interview after her Israel ‘word salad’ disappears

Trump’s campaign insisted Tuesday that CBS News release an “unedited transcript” of Vice President Kamala Harris’ entire “60 Minutes” interview after her “word salad” about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was cut from Monday’s broadcast.

The dramatic edit was made after “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker noted that “it seems that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening.”

The 59-year-old Democratic nominee’s response in the Monday night show was completely different and far more coherent than her rambling answer showcased in a preview clip released Sunday.

“Well, Bill … the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region,” Harris said in the clip shared by “60 Minutes” on X over the weekend.

However, in the prime-time broadcast, Harris answered, “We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”

A Trump campaign spokeswoman “60 Minutes” of “deceptively” editing out Harris’ “idiotic response” to Whitaker.

“On Sunday, 60 Minutes teased Kamala’s highly-anticipated sit-down interview with this epic word salad that received significant criticism on social media,” Trump 2024 national press secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Post. “During the full interview on Monday evening, the word salad was deceptively edited to lessen Kamala’s idiotic response.”

Leavitt added that she was left wondering what else was left on the cutting room floor.

“Why did 60 Minutes choose not to air Kamala’s full word salad, and what else did they choose not to air?” she said.

“The American people deserve the full, unedited transcript from Kamala’s sit-down interview,” Leavitt continued. “We call upon 60 Minutes and CBS to release it. What do they, and Kamala, have to hide?”

Trump, 78, refused to participate in the show’s presidential election special despite the campaign previously telling “60 Minutes” producers that he would take part, correspondent Scott Pelley claimed on Monday’s broadcast.

The Trump campaign has denied that any appearance was nailed down, and the former president said last week that he won’t do an interview with “60 Minutes” until the show apologizes for dismissing The Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 campaign.

The Post has reached out to a “60 Minutes” representative for comment.

Hezbollah calls for unconditional cease-fire regardless of fighting in Gaza

Hezbollah is requesting an unconditional cease-fire, according to a speech delivered Tuesday by Naim Qassem, who until recently served as the deputy to assassinated Hezbollah head Hassan Nasrallah. In his remarks, Qassem stated that the group is "agreeing to a cease-fire without preconditions. First, a cease-fire achieved through diplomatic means, and then we will discuss all the details." It is likely that this announcement was coordinated with Iran, experts believe.

Naim Qassem, a founding member of Hezbollah, is one of its leading figures and a member of the Jihad Council, which oversees the terror group's operations. He is now the highest-ranking military and political leader remaining after the assassination of Nasrallah and the attack on his expected successor, Hashem Safieddine. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Tuesday that Safieddine "was likely killed."

Given this, Qassem can be seen as the group's official spokesperson, and it is highly probable that the cease-fire proposal he presented in his pre-announced speech in Beirut is official. Notably, Qassem did not make the cease-fire contingent on a halt to fighting in Gaza.
Qassem's request for a cease-fire, likely to be mediated by the UN or another diplomatic channel, calls for Israel to stop its offensive before any conditions regarding the situation between Israel and Lebanon –especially in southern Lebanon – are negotiated.
His focus is on achieving an immediate cease-fire, with the details to be discussed afterward. This approach is something Israel may resist, as resuming hostilities would be far more challenging if Lebanon refuses to accept Israel’s demands.
Hezbollah's call for a cease-fire reflects the group’s dire military situation and its desire to prevent further actions by Israel and the IDF, which it sees as preparing to tighten control over southern Lebanon and inflict further damage on Hezbollah’s military and civilian assets.

Although Qassem presents the proposal as Hezbollah’s agreement to a cease-fire, it is clearly a desperate request born out of the group's difficult circumstances and may even suggest a tacit admission of defeat. The next step will be watching how Israel and potential mediators respond – and whether Lebanon steps in to help bring an end to the war.

"Bibi, what the f-?" Biden's Reaction When Told that Israel Killed A Hezbollah leader who had a $5 million bounty on his head from the US for his role in killing hundreds of American servicemen.

Conversations from the past year between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden were revealed today (Tuesday) in a new book by journalist Bob Woodward, 'War,' an advanced copy of which was obtained by CNN.

According to Woodward, after the elimination of Hezbollah's second-highest ranking figure Fuad Shukr, Biden was furious with Netanyahu and told him: "Bibi, what the f-?" Biden added, “You know the perception of Israel around the world increasingly is that you’re a rogue state, a rogue actor.”

In response, Netanyahu said that "the target was one of the leading terrorists. We saw an opportunity and took advantage of it. The harder you hit, the more successful you will be in the negotiations."

Shukr was eliminated in an airstrike in Beirut in late July. He directed Hezbollah's constant attacks on northern Israel beginning on October 8, 2023, and was responsible for the rocket attack in which 12 Druze children were massacred in Majdal Shams several days before his elimination. He also played a role in the 1983 bombing of the US Army barracks in Beirut in which 241 American servicemen were killed. The US had placed a $5 million bounty on his head, despite Biden's reported objections to his elimination.

In addition, a conversation of Biden with his advisers was revealed in which he said: "I know he’s going to do something but the way I limit it is tell him to ‘Do nothing.'"

Another conversation that was revealed is from last April, around the discussion of the IDF's entry into Rafah, Biden asked Netanyahu: "What is your strategy, man?" Netanyahu replied: "We need to enter Rafah." Biden replied: "Bibi, you’ve got no strategy."

Biden also stated in another conversation, “That son of a bitch, Bibi Netanyahu, he’s a bad guy," before calling him a "f-ing bad guy."

In other conversations disclosed by Woodward, Biden claimed that in his opinion there is a 50 percent chance that Russian President Vladimir Putin will start a nuclear war.

Disgusting: Biden/Harris Admin. Has Held Israel’s Rifle Order Hostage for 350+ Days

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s State Department has delayed fulfilling a rifle order for Israel for over 350 days, Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) revealed Monday when he sat for an exclusive interview with Breitbart News.

Clyde explained Israel “has had over 50,000 rifles on order since shortly after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack.” The rifles that have been ordered are from American companies renowned for their rifle manufacturing, and those include Colt and Daniel Defense.

He noted rifles were ordered to go to “Israeli National Police (INP) in order to maintain law and order.”

An “end user certificate” has to be secured as part of the process of having an export of arms approved and Clyde says the Biden/Harris administration is holding the process up with claims that they are not confident that the rifles “won’t end up in the settlers’ hands.”

In other words, the Biden/Harris administration is withholding the certificate on grounds they do not want the guns to end up in the hands of “those in the West Bank.”

Clyde noted, “Israel has always been phenomenally good when it comes to keeping control of their weapons. Unlike other countries of the world that the United States has provided arms to…Look at Afghanistan for crying out loud.”

We asked Clyde, “Are you saying that the rifles were ordered from Daniel Defense and others, and that those rifles were manufactured and are now just sitting somewhere?”

He responded, “That’s correct.”

Clyde explained that on average, “It takes 41 days for an export license to be approved, that’s the average for military small arms. With the rifle order for Israel we’ve now exceeded 350 days.”

He concluded by sharing his opinion, which is that the Biden/Harris administration is pandering to antisemitism at colleges and universities around the country and, especially, Michigan, where Harris needs a win.

Clyde observed, “If you really want to drill down to the reason, in my opinion, the reason for the delay is the Biden/Harris administration’s political pandering to those who would support Hamas, the Houthis, basically terrorist sympathizers here in the United States who have a vote.”

Suhail Hussein Husseini, head of Hezbollah’s logistical headquarters, killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut

Suhail Hussein Husseini, head of Hezbollah’s logistical headquarters, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut, the IDF announced.

Husseini oversaw Hezbollah’s logistics, budget management, and was part of the terror group’s top military body, the Jihad Council.

The IDF stated that he played a key role in transferring weapons from Iran to Hezbollah, overseeing their distribution among the group’s units. He was also responsible for managing Hezbollah’s war plans, special operations, and coordinating attacks against Israel from Lebanon and Syria.

His headquarters also managed R&D, including the production of precision-guided missiles.

Hezbollah Injured Beeper Survivors Pray and Weep in Iran

Hezbollah terrorists who were injured by exploding beepers and walkie talkies last month traveled to Iran recently to pray at the Mashhad tomb of Imam Ali Reza. Many were seen weeping in footage broadcast by Iran’s Mehr News Agency.

Eight were killed and nearly 3,000 operatives were wounded, including at least 500 listed in critical condition on September 17, after pagers carried by the terrorists blew up simultaneously across Lebanon and Syria.

More than 1,500 were permanently maimed in the attack, which Hezbollah has blamed on Israel.

The following day, a second round of sabotage caused Hezbollah-issued walkie talkie radios to explode, killing at least 25 terrorists and wounding 450 others.

Among those who were injured was Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, who also suffered eye wounds.

These 97 people are still being held by Hamas a year after Oct. 7 attacks

Thousands of lives were forever altered and upended when Hamas terrorists invaded Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, butchering more than 1,200 people and kidnapping 251 others.

Those hostages whom Hamas abducted and dragged to Gaza as human shields and bargaining chips quickly became a rallying cry.

Israelis and supporters of Israel around the world plastered their images on posters so no one could forget their names and faces.

Now, a year since the war in Gaza began, 97 hostages are still being held by Hamas.

Sixty-four hostages are still believed to be alive; 33 are confirmed to be dead — and their remains held by the terrorists.

Hurricane Helene Becoming Kamala’s Katrina as More US Funds Go to Lebanon than Storm Victims

Here are the straight figures. On Saturday, Democratic Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris tweeted:

The people of Lebanon are facing an increasingly dire humanitarian situation. I am concerned about the security and well-being of civilians suffering in Lebanon and will continue working to help meet the needs of all civilians there. To that end, the United States will provide nearly $157 million in additional assistance to the people of Lebanon for essential needs such as food, shelter, water, protection, and sanitation to help those who have been displaced by the recent conflict. This additional support brings total U.S. assistance to Lebanon over the last year to over $385 million.

Harris made her generous announcement following Wednesday’s statement by Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security, that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which falls under his jurisdiction, is experiencing a shortage of funds for the remainder of the hurricane season. And there have been rumors about misappropriations of funds in the agency.
