Anti-vaxxers threaten R' Chaim Kanievsky and his family
Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, a leader of the Lithuanian haredi community, is now being threatened by anti-vaxxers who oppose the COVID-19 vaccine.
In a Tuesday morning report, Yediot Aharonot said that following Rabbi Kanievsky's call to vaccinate children against coronavirus, the senior haredi leader has become a target of attacks, threats, and fake news spready by extremists.
Yanky Kanievsky, a grandson of Rabbi Kanievsky who is said to have his ear, has suffered calls of, "You're murderers," and, "You have the blood of children on your hands," as well as threats such as, "We'll get to you," "We're wishing," and "They're going to rape your children."
A text message sent to other family members, some of whom received it late at night, read, "May your name be erased," "villain," and "Amalek."
One of Rabbi Kanievsky's sons received a text message that, "We will kill you," and "There is justice, and there is a judge." A different son was told, "We will reach Bnei Brak, and then you'll understand."
Haredi journalist Yisrael Cohen told Yediot Aharonot, "The call by the 'Minister of Torah' to get vaccinated is supported by public consensus and received praise from the Prime Minister and ministers, but apparently on the margins there will always be people who oppose it."
Cohen also said there is concern among the Kanievsky family that Rabbi Kanievsky or another family member will be physically harmed.
"They are used to criticism and pressure, but here we're taking about people who aren't normal and who are unpredictable," he explained.
Biden turns down request to send Israel refueling planes ahead of schedule
The IDF requested that the US military send two of the four advanced tanker planes to Israel ahead of schedule, but the Biden refused, Yediot Aharonot reported.
Israel agreed to purchase the planes as part of Defense Minister Benny Gantz's (Blue and White) visit to Washington.
According to the agreement, the planes would only be sent to Israel in another four years. However, Israel would like to receive the planes ahead of schedule, so as to prepare for the option of a military attack on Iran.
The planes which are KC-46 aircraft, can last over 11 hours in the sky and travel over 11,000 kilometers (6835 miles).
Israel's defense system intends to continue pressuring the US army, in an attempt to receive at least one of the planes in the next few months.
Meron To Be Closed From Thursday Because There Isn't an Insurer that is Willing to Insure this Dangerous Site
It seems that the "big" rebbes and the "machers" don't want to take responsibility to make the place safe, too many $$$$$$
This coming Thursday the directors of the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai (Rashbi) in Meron will be closing the site to visitors, since no insurer is currently willingly to provide insurance for potential damages to visitors, according to a Ynet report.
Various different insurers were approached after the tragedy which occurred last Lag Ba’Omer when 45 people were killed in a crush after the lighting of the Toldos Aharon rebbe. Since then the site has been open without any insurance and thousands of visitors continue to arrive there without any form of insurance, meaning that if they are injured they cannot receive any financial restitution.
Recently, after the government failed to find a solution, the “Committee of Five” comprised of five different institutions which run the site announced that they are removing their responsibility from what occurs at the site and from Wednesday night the site will be closed to visitors.
In a letter to Religious Affairs Minister Matan Kahane, the director of the tomb, Eli Freund, said that “if no solution including a viable insurance policy will be found, the committee will be forced to announce the closing of the site from Wednesday night.”

Julia Haart, star of Netflix’s irreverent and controversial “My Unorthodox Life”, is splitting up with her magnate husband, Silvio Scaglia.
According to Page Six in the NY Post, the couple is divorcing after two years of marriage. In addition, the break-up is going to be one of the themes that the show will focus on in upcoming Season Two.
The Haarts were married in 2019, after working together at the La Perla company–Silvio was CEO and Julia was creative director.
A source says that although they continue to work together, in business and on the show, they are currently living separate lives.
Several weeks ago, Haart’s daughter Batsheva and her husband, Ben Weinstein, decided to divorce after nine years of marriage.
They announced the decision on social media, saying: “After time and consideration we have made the decision to separate. We have so much love and respect for each other but have realized that it is time to take time, space to ensure that each of us live the most joyous, fulfilling lives possible.”
This is Julia’s second marriage. Before she abandoned the Torah derech, she was married to the father of her four children.
“Top Boy” In Yeshiva Starts Shidduchim, Discovers He’s Not Jewish.... Lubavitcher Rebbe Predicted this Many Years Ago
Recently, one of the top bochurim in a well-known Israeli yeshivah began the shidduchim parsha but was stopped in his tracks when he suddenly found out he wasn’t Jewish, Kikar H’Shabbat reported on Monday.
The bochur, whose parents made aliyah from Ukraine a number of years ago, had already begun shidduchim when his mother revealed to him that although his father is Jewish she is not. (It is unknown why she chose to wait so long to reveal this fact to her son.)
The bochur, whose entire world is Torah and the daled amos of halacha, was devastated. Brokenhearted, he confided in one of his Rabbanim from his yeshivah, who turned to HaGaon HaRav Yizchak Yosef.
HaRav Yosef used his influence with senior Dayanim to expedite the giyur process for the bochur so he can return to his shtender and resume shidduchim.

Ami's Byline "Protecting Judaism from the State" Hides the Perfidy of the Chareidie Parties
Chaim Friedlander, who writes the "Israeli Politics" column for Ami Magazine papered over a "bombshell" of a story in his column titled "Protecting Judaism From the State," in which he describes how the "chareidi parties" have "come together to resist the government's plans.
But hidden in his column we find out how chareide parties have no qualms selling the Jewish State and its inhabitants to the Arab murderers. And the proverbial "cherry on top" was even worse. Friedlander in his column exposes a secret that isn't known to the chareidie public.
"Rabbanim turned to the Arab Bais Din "The Shura Council" for help!
Thank the Almighty G-d that the Arab "gedoilim" rebuffed them.
This is not like when the Agudah teams up with the Catholic Church to get funds for private schools, this is teaming up with animals that vow to murder all Jews including the "rabbanim" that turned to them for assistance!
Let me share the paragraph in question and highlight the pertinent details.
Friedlander is explaining how Aryeh Deri, MK and Shas Chairman tried to recruit the Arab Ra'am party in their scheme to bring down the government, and he is lamenting the fact that he didn't succeed.
"At this point Deri went on to enumerate the main players in destroying the state's Jewish identity, from Lieberman to Yair Lapid, and including Ze'ev Elkin and Mansour Abbas: " If we thought that Sa'ar and Elkin would moderate the government's position, we were mistaken." he said. "All they care about is legalizing cannabis. And we can't rely on Ra'am. We thought that we could rely on them for issues of religion and state, but we were wrong. In fact, they are the most stable feature of this government; they have a big package of promises from the government that they want to see fulfilled, and they need to protect the coalition in order to get them."
"Deri was referencing recent efforts to influence the Ra'am MKs to object to a new draft law for chareidim and changes to the giyur law. The request was made to Ra'am with the understanding that they had never gotten involved in the issue of the army draft, and that as a religious party they wouldn't want to harm another religion. Additionally, a number of rabbanim turned to the Shura Council, which functions as the spiritual guidance of the party. However, this too was rebuffed."

Did Deri actually think he could rely on the Arab murderers "for issues of religion?"
Did Deri and his pack of chareidie hypocrites want the murderers to cooperate to "object to a new draft law and changes to the giyur law"?
Deri wanted the help of the Arabs in the giyur law? Is is this guy insane?
Why would Yishmael help Yaakov in his quest to keep his yiddishkeit? Please pass me some of what Deri is smoking.
Did Deri try to get the Arabs to object to a new draft law?
Deri initially thought that Arabs would be happy if there were less soldiers in the Jewish army to defend his pathetic rump, and so he was sure that the Arabs would go along with and object to the new draft law!
These are the feckless losers that represent us in the Knesset!
And the rabbanim.... they go like a bunch of pathetic beggars to the Arab Mullahs to try to convince them to object to the giyur law because a "religious party wouldn't want to harm another religion."?????

The gist of the Friedlander's article is how the Chareidie parties that hate each other got together to attempt to topple the government, but in summarizing he inadvertently left in details that depict our chareidie leaders as a bunch of dangerous amateurs who would likely sell their own bodies and souls to the devil accomplish their goals.

Moreover, “taking things out of context and the attempt to publicly accuse the petitioner of attempting to modify the pure chinuch are a classic and typical example of the wild incitement instigated by the Higher Committee of Ger chasidim who continue daily to defame in every possible way the community led by Rabbi Shaul Alter, via telephone, presentations, pamphlets, speeches and lectures.
So the Gerer Rebbe sent 15,000 Gerer brutes to protest in front of Elbaum's house in Bnei-Brak.

TRAGIC UPDATE FROM WOODMERE: 15-Year-Old Girl R”L Killed In Crash By Drunk Driver; 38-Year-Old Woman Remains Critical
Tragedy struck the Great Neck and Five Towns Jewish communities on Sunday, as word spread of a horrific crash on Motzei Shabbos, involving a vehicle with girls returning from a Camp Sternberg reunion.
Nassau County Police say that just before 11:00PM, an Audi turning southbound onto Peninsula Boulevard from Edward Avenue collided with a blue 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by Arlin Javier Aguilera travelling northbound on Peninsula Boulevard.
A Hatzolah member happened to be on the block at the time and radioed for backup and began providing care to the victims. Hatzolah worked tirelessly to render aid, and transport the victims, using massive amounts of resources dispatched within minutes to the scene.
Unfortunately, rumors have been viral on so social media since the crash, stating that two victims were deceased. That is incorrect.
Tragically, 15-year-old Liel Namdar A”H from Great Neck was Niftar from massive injuries sustained in the crash. Levaya details were still being finalized as of 9:45AM.
Additionally, please say Tehillim for Miriam bas Yocheved, a 38-year-old woman who is in critical condition and needs our Tefilos.
Two other occupants remain hospitalized from the Audi in stable condition. The occupants of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.
The Achiezer organization has been working tirelessly with local authorities to ensure proper Kavod Hames, with numerous volunteers working at the scene all night as well as Achiezer teams in the various hospitals and working with the family.
Police say that Arlin Javier Aguilera, 34, of West Hempstead, was arrested on charges of second-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated. He is expected to be arraigned on Sunday.

The Music That Made Me Weep

Earlier this week, without warning, I found myself weeping uncontrollably. Allow me to tell you why.
On Sunday night, a few guys came together in London to sing. None of them are professional singers. What brought them together was that all of them — at some point during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s — had sung in a boys’ choir called the London School of Jewish Song.
This remarkable musical ensemble was directed and conducted by a charismatic Israel-born educator, Yigal Calek, whose flamboyant style and exceptional ear for music propelled his young proteges into stardom across the Jewish world. Curiously, although Yigal Calek was undoubtedly an innovator, he was also deeply traditional. Consequently, while his songs were very much in tune with modernity and the zeitgeist, they were nonetheless firmly embedded in the music of the Jewish yesteryear.
5 hurt, 2 critically, in Woodmere car crash
At least five people were injured in a serious traffic accident in Woodmere, New York Saturday night.
Three of the injured were in one vehicle, while two of the injured were in a second vehicle. Two of the injured are in critical condition, while two more are in serious but stable condition.
The accident occurred at approximately 11 PM Saturday night.
Footage from the scene shows two vehicles on opposite sides of a residential street with their front ends badly damaged.
Chassid Steals Hundreds of Thousands From Chasidish Store, and Is Released by Israeli Police
It's interesting that the owner went directly to police without consulting a rav but if his daughter would have been molested, he would have gone to rav first!
A prominent chasidus in Yerushalayim is in shock after a member of its community was caught stealing hundreds of thousands of shekalim from the store in which he worked.
The thief, who portrayed himself as a baal teshuva but actually grew up in a frum home, was taken under the wing of community members, who helped him get a job in a Yerushalayim store – Shehechiyanu Colors on Rechov Yirmiyahu.
But, to the great shock and disgust of the community, the individual was caught after stealing at least 10,000 shekel and additional hundreds of thousands in shekalim in checks.
Immediately upon learning of the theft, the store owner contacted the police, who arrested the suspect for quetioning. However, to the storeowner’s surprise, the police released him without asking the court to extend his detention.
“I begged the police not to release him before he said where the checks are,” the storeowner said. “Even if the cash is gone, at least the checks can be saved.”
“I expect the police to arrest him once again in order to understand where he keeps the money. I brought all the evidence to the police, so there is no reason why he should not be prosecuted.”
Israel Police said in a statement that they are continuing the investigation “professionally and thoroughly.”
Community leaders say they don’t believe this was the first time the suspect stole, as numerous valuables have gone missing in recent weeks across the community.

Alien-like fish with a translucent head With glowing green eyes is spotted some 2,000 feet below the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California
There is an alien-like fish that lives some 2,000 feet below ocean off the coast of California that has a translucent head that exposes its glowing eyes.
Called the barreley fish, the deep-sea creature was spotted by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) using its remote-operated vehicle (ROV).
'MBARI's remotely operated vehicles Ventana and Doc Ricketts have logged more than 5,600 successful dives and recorded more than 27,600 hours of video—yet we've only encountered this fish nine times,' the video description reads.
The elusive fish has two small indentations where its eyes would normally be, but instead, its eyes are two glowing green orbs behind its face that gaze up towards the top of its head.
Documents Reveal Italy Made Deal with Arafat not to interfere With Terror Attacks Against Jews
Italian media on Friday published documents that appeared to confirm long-held accusations that Italy had agreed on a deal not to interfere with Palestinian terror attacks on Jewish targets and had failed to prevent a 1982 assault on a Rome synagogue in which a 2-year-old boy was killed.

Europe freed 80 Agunas by extending the jurisdiction of Israel's rabbinical courts over non-Israeli agunot
The emancipation of Jews in Europe changed their status and lives totally. Before it, they were non-citizens, invited to live in a certain town or kingdom at the behest of the local ruler, their status prone to change overnight, by the whim of a decree. To reside in a certain place, Jews had to be members of the local Jewish community, which had the power to cancel the residential status and had an independent legal system headed by the local rabbi.
Emancipation changed all that. Jews became ordinary citizens, subject to the secular legal systems of the lands they resided in. The membership in a Jewish community became a voluntary endeavor, and the rabbi had no legal jurisdiction over the Jews in his town.
However, as with everything good, this shift included some collateral damage. According to Jewish law, a woman can only get divorced from her husband by his full consent, although in certain cases, the rabbinical court has the right to require the husband to issue a bill of divorce. The problem is that, while rabbinical courts issued such decrees, there was no way to enforce them, since membership in the community was optional.

Moriah Cohen, Stabbed By Her Terrorist Neighbor Says She’s Not Leaving
Moriah Cohen, the woman who was stabbed in the back by a terrorist Wednesday morning near Shimon Hatzadik, recollected the incident on Channel 12 during the evening. Cohen was released from hospital earlier in the day after suffering light injuries.
Cohen, a 26-year-old mother of 5, told Channel 12 news on Wednesday evening that she noticed the assailant, “who had such hatred in her eyes.”
She then felt “a hard blow on my back, and I screamed in pain, and my son said to me, ‘Mommy, you have a knife in your back’.”
In the commotion that followed, as she called for help, “the terrorist, it seems, panicked and ran away,” Dvir Cohen, her husband, said.
“It was a miracle,” he said. “If she had continued, I don’t know how this would have ended. I don’t want to think about it.”
Dvir added that his wife is “feeling fine” despite being stabbed in the back with a 30 cm knife.
“She said it hurts less than childbirth,” he quipped.
Moriah said that she does not want to dwell on what triggered the attack and just wants to thank Hashem for the miracle as well as the wonderful people who treated her and took care of her children.
The attacker lives adjacent to the Cohen family, although the Jewish families in Nachalat Shimon do not have much interaction with their Arab neighbors. It is not clear as yet if the attacker intentionally targeted the victim because she lives in the neighborhood. The Cohens are one of several dozen Jewish families who live in Nachalat Shimon, situated next to the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood where riots broke out in May after the court determined that Arab tenants in Jewish owned homes would be evicted from their homes if they did not recognize the Jewish ownership.
Cohen said there have been issues between the Jewish and Arab residents for a while, with the latter often throwing stones at them, and during May fighting between Israel and the Gaza Strip nearly a dozen Molotov cocktails were tossed at their home.
But, despite the danger, Dvir Cohen said the family will continue to live in the neighborhood.
“It is part of our mission in life,” he said.
“I won’t give up on being here,” Moriah Cohen said in her TV interview.

Bechadrei Chareidim revealed an unusual incident among the charedi parties that took place on the night of the vote on the state budget in the Knesset.
Two MKs from Agudas Yisroel, Meir Porush and Israel Eichler, had a particularly tempting proposal in their pockets which included large budgets totaling about 1.2 billion NIS that would be given by the government to the Yeshivos and Talmud Torah programs in exchange for abstaining during the vote on the state budget on second and third readings. The proposal did not require all party members to abstain, just those two.

It's All Over, Folks ...New York City Poised To Give Voting Rights To Noncitizens
New York City, long a beacon for immigrants, is on the cusp of becoming the largest places in the country to give noncitizens the right to vote in local elections.
Legally documented, voting-age noncitizens comprise nearly one in nine of the city’s 7 million voting-age inhabitants. Under a bill nearing approval, some 800,000 noncitizens would be allowed to cast ballots in elections to pick the mayor, City Council members and other municipal officeholders
Noncitizens still wouldn’t be able to vote for president or members of Congress in federal races, or in the state elections that pick the governor, judges and legislators.
Little stands in the way of the effort becoming law. The measure has broad support within the City Council, which is expected to ratify the proposal Thursday. Mayor Bill de Blasio has raised concerns about the wisdom and legality of the legislation, but said he won’t veto it.

A 22-year old transgender swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania continued her dominant performance this season — setting numerous pool, meet and program records at a three-day event in Ohio last weekend.
Lia Thomas blew away her competition Friday night in the 500-yard freestyle preliminaries and finals at the Zippy Invitational at the University of Akron, according to results posted by the school.
In the finals, Thomas notched a winning time of 4:34.06 — good enough for a new Ivy League record.
The swimmer continued smashing records on Saturday with a nearly 7-second victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.93 — representing the fastest finish in the country, the school said.
Over the weekend, Thomas also set a new program, meet and pool record in the 1650-yard freestyle. She finished that race in 15:59.71 — more than 38 seconds ahead of second-place finisher, and teammate, Anna Kalandadze.
Before her transition, Thomas competed for two full seasons at Penn as a man. NCAA rules mandate at least one year of testosterone suppression treatment to be eligible to compete as a woman.
“(Swimming) is a huge part of my life and who I am. I’ve been a swimmer since I was 5 years old,” Thomas told Penn Today last June.
“Being trans has not affected my ability to do this sport and being able to continue is very rewarding.”

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority said on Monday that, as part of its 2022 budget, it will be raising tolls on the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike by 3%. The rise comes just 16 months after the tolls on the two largest toll roads in the Garden State spiked by 36% and 27%, respectively.
“The purpose of the 3% indexing is to provide a stable funding source for capital needs. That’s where the additional revenue will be going,” a Turnpike Authority spokesman said. “It will support the unprecedented amount of work being done under the Authority’s long-term capital program.”
Beginning in 2022, the Turnpike Authority is allowed to raise tolls by 3% based on certain economic indicators, though it hasn’t been publicly stated what those economic indicators are.
“Whether a toll increase is needed or not, the Authority will take one annually, depending on the rate of inflation, unless the governor or legislature act to stop them,” said Steve Carrellas, the New Jersey policy director for the National Motorist’s Association.
